>> a deal to free more hostages held by hamas appears to be closer this morning in the meantime, though, more bloodshed and airstrike reportedly hit a school run by the un, killing at least 24 people. >> but this morning, there is growing hope that a pause in the fighting could come soon. abc's liz landers is here with the latest. liz good morning. what is the timeline on that looking like? >> morgan israel's ambassador to washington says he's hopeful that a deal to release more hostages will be completed in the coming days. this morning, negotiators are reportedly closer to an agreement with hamas to release 50 hostages in exchange for israel allowing more aid into gaza. the number of hostages to be released and the length of the ceasefire that would be imposed are still being negotiated. some of the issues that were at odds have now been closed out, but we are not finished. israel's military says this video shows hostages being rushed into gaza's largest hospital on october seventh when hamas militants attacked israeli

border towns, triggering the war. a group of men dragged an individual into al-shifa hospital to the surprise of medical staff, while a second clip shows an injured man on a stretcher. hamas previously said it took some hostages to hospitals for treatment. but israel says the group used a network of tunnels under al-shifa for military purposes and to hide hostages as israel's military also releasing this video from a drone entering what it claims is a hamas tunnel 30ft beneath the medical complex. the world health organization has described the hospital as a, quote, death zone. nine premature babies reported died after being removed from incubators when electricity ran out. but yesterday, 31 babies were evacuated to a hospital in southern gaza. as for those talks to release some of the hostages, the prime minister of qatar says the remaining challenges are only minor. morgan >> liz, thank you. the financial times reports more than half of

the buildings in northern gaza have now been badly damaged across country. >> storm is threatening to disrupt thanksgiving travel today. severe storms are possible from texas to mississippi and arkansas. strong tornadoes are possible. and then that same system heads toward the northeast with heavy rain and wind, especially tuesday night into wednesday morning, we'll have your full holiday forecast in just a few moments. >> now to the death of rosalynn carter. president biden and first lady jill biden said first lady rosalynn carter walked her own path, inspiring a nation and the world along the way, she transformed the role of first lady. i just want to say thank you. even before she and her husband moved into the white house in 1977, it was clear rosalynn carter was never going to be on the sidelines. she was just 18 when she married jimmy carter in their hometown of plains, georgia, in 1946. they were in their 20s when jimmy's father died and they took over

the family peanut business. jimmy ran the warehouse. rosen and kept the books. when jimmy entered politics in 1962, winning a seat in the state senate, rosalynn joined his campaign team and helped propel him to the governor's office. >> my name is jimmy carter and i'm running for president. >> when her husband kicked off his campaign for president, she campaigned nonstop, visiting 41 states. >> we don't do well with political machines, but we do well with the people. that's why you're so important to us. >> her combination of self-discipline and southern charm earned her the nickname steel magnolia rosalynn entered the white house at the height of the women's movement and during her four years there, the role of first lady became a formal federal position with a dedicated staff. she was the first, first lady to maintain her own office in the east wing while also attending her husband's cabinet meetings and traveling to meet with heads of state as she would write in her memoir, i was more a political partner than a political wife.

her husband calling her an almost equal extension of myself . mrs. carter was also a champion for mental health. >> i think just by focusing attention on the problem, you can be effective. >> testifying before the senate, she fought for more funding for mental health centers. she pushed for health insurance to cover mental illness. and later started the carter center mental health task force. the carter center calling her a visionary and a tireless advocate, mrs. carter got emotional talking about her work with the center, helping an african village eradicate guinea worm, a tropical disease. >> as most of the time it's the first thing they have ever seen that was successful and it's just so wonderful. just to see the hope on their faces. it's something good is happening. >> in her personal touch even inspired those who were assigned to protect her. the secret service with this tribute, your compassion, diplomacy and penchant to make society better

for those less fortunate was an inspiration for an entire generation. it has been an honor to protect and serve you for all of these years. such a legacy and ceremony celebrating mrs. carter will be held next monday through wednesday. she'll lie in repose at the carter library in atlanta before returning to plains for burial. coming up in about ten minutes, a closer look at the carter's remarkable 77 year marriage. >> president biden is losing more ground. less than one year before the election in a potential rematch with former president trump. a new poll from nbc shows biden losing to trump 46 to 44. yesterday, trump was endorsed by texas governor greg abbott, a far right outsider, compared to former president donald trump has been elected to president of argentina. >> javier malay is a populist who lacks government experience and displayed erratic behavior and foul language. early results show him shows him with a double digit lead in a country gripped by inflation and poverty. >> we turn now to elon musk,

fighting back today as more advertisers flee his social media platform over concerns about anti-semitism. elon musk is threatening what he describes as a thermonuclear lawsuit, as the list of companies suspending ads on his social media platform grows longer. >> so this is a kind of disaster for elon, apple, ibm, lionsgate, paramount and abc parent company disney have pulled their ads from formerly twitter. >> the departures started thursday when musk agreed with a post echoing an anti-semitic conspiracy theory that falsely claims jews are organizing immigrants to replace the white race. >> a lot of these brands took a look at this tweet and saw it as a step too far that same day. >> the advocacy group media matters reported that places ads for major brands next to content and musk then writing the split second court opens on monday, will be filing a thermonuclear lawsuit against media matters and all those who colluded in this fraudulent attack on our

company. and i think the most important thing is that in his response, in that legal threat, he actually confirmed that our reporting was was accurate. >> i mean, he said that everything in our report, as we said it existed did actually exist on the platform. >> x says it does not intentionally place brands next to such content and says the media matters report completely misrepresented the real user experience to undermine freedom of speech and mislead advertisers. restrictions have been loosened on x since musk bought the platform last year and formally banned accounts have been reinstated. >> that's basically our core argument is that the platform is so saturated with extremism, with white genocide, with anti-semitism, with racism, with conspiracy theories, things that otherwise should be managed. >> musk on friday posted anyone advocating the genocide of any group will be suspended from this platform. when an x user asked why the platform is being targeted by advertisers despite recent controversies involving moving other platforms, including tiktok, musk responded great question. apple was

officials plan to drill into the tunnel from three different directions in hopes of freeing them. >> we're learning more about the taylor swift fan who died at the singer's concert in brazil friday. swift returned to the stage last night. here's abc's derrick dennis. >> an emotional taylor swift was back on stage in rio de janeiro last night. goodbye. goodbye. goodbye singing her song bigger than the whole sky. after a fan died in sweltering heat during friday night's concert. we should have been you. authorities say 23 year old ana benavidez machado got sick. and later suffered a heart attack. the heat index was near 140 degrees. swift herself at one point appeared to struggle to breathe. seen here appearing to ask her staff for water and she stopped her performance to try to help fans. very hot. so somebody says they need water when it's this hot. >> they say we need it. >> swift writing on instagram,

it is with a shattered heart that i say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. i can't even tell you how devastated i am by this. swift fans were banned from bringing bottled water into the venue that night, but brazilian officials ordered concert organizers to lift the ban for last night's show. one company even donating free bottled water. ana's father speaking to brazilian tv, said, i lost my only daughter, a happy, intelligent girl. she left for a dream and came back dead. he added his hope that if negligence is confirmed, someone will be punished so that this doesn't happen to anyone else. later tonight, taylor swift is expected to perform again in rio, a show to replace the one postponed on saturday. and temperatures have now cooled off . lionel morgan, thankful for that. >> cool off, derek, thank you. well the cdc is out with its first flu alert of the season. cases are spiking in seven states, mostly in the southeast. most experts say that's typical
