north bay valleys until 9 a.m. temperatures there as low as 32 degrees. i have 33 there, but i noticed a couple of places have dropped below 33in the north bay. santa rosa, for example, only 30 right now. and we've got 30s in many of our inland areas, inland communities around the bay area. by afternoon though, it'll be a little bit milder with high temperatures moving up into the mid 60s. so it's not going to be cold all day long, but weather will be changing later this week and i'll have that forecast a little bit later. jobina >> thank you, spencer. good morning, everyone. checking in on traffic. we're starting with a live look from the bay bridge toll plaza. and you can tell by the look here that the metering lights are on. they flipped on at 541 in the backup is beginning. we are in week eight of this ongoing sigalert at the richmond-san rafael bridge. we have three westbound lanes blocked. no wide load vehicles allowed there and we will end with a look at our drive times. tracy to castro valley. >> 57 minutes this morning. a fragile cease fire is holding between israel and hamas as negotiators work to extend it over the weekend, 58 hostages

held by hamas were released. more are expected to be freed today in exchange age israel released 117 palestinians, women and teenagers who have been held prisoner. uh. the white house says around 200 people are still being held hostage in gaza. that includes 23 year old hirsh goldberg, poland. he was born in berkeley before moving to israel with his family. his parents, his parents spoke to gma just a few hours ago. >> hope it's just the beginning and that this will continue until every hostage, including, of course, hirsh, come home. we want to make sure this isn't just 50 or 60 and then it stops there. >> israel's cabinet members and hamas are signaling they are on board with extending the cease fire. and of course, there's negotiations are ongoing here in the bay area. >> voices were raised in support of a cease fire. people gathered last night on the steps of alameda city hall. the candlelight vigil was a time for people to share their own experiences and perspectives. amina hakim was one of the event

monday. the deals are flowing in retailers are hoping to cash in to add and it's expected to be a record setting day. so we have abc seven news reporter ryan curry live in richmond this morning at amazon's only same day fulfillment center here in the bay area. ryan are you shopping today? i'm curious what's in the cart? get us into it. okay yeah. >> my shopping is already done. i try to get that stuff done ahead of time because i don't want to wait around once i zero in on a product or a gift for somebody. i like to get that done right away. regardless, here, this is one of the biggest centers you're going to find in the bay area all across the region, amazon fulfillment center in richmond. and to give me a little bit of more information about this, we've got jamie here, the site manager of this area. jamie, i want to first ask what really what does the center do? >> okay. >> thanks, ryan, for having me. the center is the only sub same day center in the bay area. so we're we're we're a customer

facing fulfillment center. so we offer in this facility behind this black curtain here is kiva robots that offer 100,000 of the fastest selling items that their customers in this local area want. i can deliver that five times a day with in 3 to 5 hours. you can literally go online right now, find the next window within five hours, it will be picked packed and come down this conveyor belt. within ten minutes, go into a cart and then a flex delivery driver will come up and start taking it to your home. if i don't have it in this facility, i have reach back capability up to 20, 20 million items from tracy, california. and basically you can offer the customer what they want at the lowest price and the fastest delivery times within the same day. so we see the conveyor belt right here. >> workers are already processing a lot of packages. it's cyber monday. this is supposed to be one of the biggest days for online shopping . and here we are at one of the biggest online retailers, the center for it. how busy can this

place get on a day like today? >> okay, good question, ryan. so last october, this building launched. we set a record on black friday, 20% more volume than we've ever done. and we expect to do similar volume today. we just had prime deals day, which is a month ago for amazon or network. we set a record again, the customer continues to want more from us and we continue to build that capability to provide more. >> how do you guys prepare for a day like cyber monday where you're expecting an influx in buying and spending and you have all these people on hand here? so really what are the efforts that go into making sure that this day runs as efficient as possible? >> that's a great question, ryan. so it really started months ago. we started preparing for our peak season in several months ago when we started hiring 100 to 150 associates, seasonal associates and additional to our flex gig economy associates and our full time associate. so what we call our employees that started months ago in california. we hired 30,000 seasonal employees for amazon, the network. so

really start planning the labor. we start cross training them into multiple paths and multiple departments to make sure we hit that peak volume for what our customer wants when they want. >> is it toys, is it appliances? is it really anything that people like to give away? this time of year? >> so it's you consider to think about it is your everyday essentials. my wife she's a big sub same day subscriber herself so you know if you run out of toothpaste in the morning and you're on your way to school and you got you got a car full of three kids, it's you don't really want to stop to actually get a toothpaste for somebody else. you know, if you're an amazon subscriber, you can pay that 299 and the shipping will be for free and it'll be there when you get home from work. anything from like, you know, if your dog runs out of dog food or if your kitty needs a kitty litter. those everyday essentials we have those here in our facility every day. also too, we have electronics, apparel, pet supplies. we also have the hottest selling equipment in terms of toys. we carry all those items here. if i

some cars and even a swimming pool that appears to be steaming because it's so cold. spencer has a look at what to expect the rest of the day. >> reggie it is so cold and there is frost out there. in fact, right now we still have a frost advisory in effect for the north bay valleys until 9:00 in the morning. temperatures have now dropped below 33 degrees. and some of those spots. so you can see it's pretty chilly in fact, all around the inland areas is still quite cold. here's a view from sutro tower looking out over san francisco and clear skies 48 here in the city, but in the upper 30s at oakland mountain view, 33 at palo alto. other temperature readings right now, lots of 30s in our low 30s in our inland areas. santa rosa, nevada, fairfield, concord and livermore . and we have a coastal flood advisory that will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the north bay shoreline and the bay shoreline. because of high tides producing some localized flooding. but as we get into the afternoon hours, sunny skies, certainly much milder than the

2019, despite a policy banning kids under 13. attorneys general in 33 states allege instagram actually pursued those users without parental permission and meta only disabled a fraction of their accounts. >> it's one thing for them to have underage kids on their website under the age of 13 and violate of federal law. but once you are notified, you need to do something about it and meta seemed to look the other way. >> in response, meta tells abc news in part, we have measures in place to remove these accounts when we identify them. however, very ifying the age of people online is a complex industry challenge and today is the end of the thanksgiving holiday travel rush. millions of people expected to continue traveling home today. you're looking live at the bay area's three major airports and it is smooth sailing in san jose. no canceled flights at oakland. only one flight has been canceled this morning at sfo. three flights have been canceled . that's according to flightaware.com. so good morning at our bay area airports. i

know. not bad. we did. well, we sure did, because there were just only a few delays at sfo yesterday and traffic backups as people tried to get into the airport. >> abc7 news spoke to some travelers who kept their focus on how special it was to see family. >> it was really nice. really happy to see my family again. i don't see them often since i'm in school. >> we hated leaving our family, so. yeah. >> yeah. if i didn't have to leave, i wouldn't. i wouldn't be leaving today. but, you know, actually, it's been really, really tame. i mean, i flew out on wednesday and it wasn't that bad. greg seems like he's a fun relative. >> the tsa just updated its data showing more than 2.9 million people were screened at airports across the country yesterday. and that's the most people screened in a single day in tsa history. >> other parts of the country have seen some challenges. millions of travelers dealing with headaches like crowded airports. but, you know, they had to expect that. experts predicted nearly 30 million passengers were supposed to fly over the weekend, which is

almost a 10% increase from last year. the tsa says you should always get to the airport early. >> usually go to the counter, you know, check in our bags real quick. but then my husband was like, let's just check them in outside. and we walked in and there's so many people. we did get here five hours early and we can't check our bags yet. >> that's a little too early. yeah. >> yeah. >> you're not going to catch me there five hours early on the roads. some are experiencing bumper to bumper traffic as they still come home from the holiday. triple-a estimates more than 55 million people traveled for thanksgiving. that is close to a 3% jump compared to the year before. >> hi, barbie. yes, for fans of the movie, so sorry to tell you that blockbuster hit may not be returning. margot robbie, who produced and starred in the summer hit, says she doesn't think there will be a barbie two. the actress was asked about all of this during a recent interview, and she says director greta gerwig put everything into this movie so she can't imagine

there would need to be another one. now that is a fair point. so margot, continue to say that the film wasn't built to be a trilogy or anything like that. she feels that the biggest takeaway from the barbie movie is the original films can still be a huge hit at the box office. and that is true because that's what i think i love the most about this movie is that it was an original film. we hadn't seen anything like it. yeah, and it did amazing. yeah. so i just a little disappointed because is it was so fun and she is probably in the right frame of mind because she's saying, you know, we did it, it was great. >> and now we're going to move on and do something else. but that's not usually how hollywood works. they say, we're going to do it again and again and again until all soul has been dried up right? yeah. like our souls have left our bodies. >> we're having merch. >> we're right until you're so sick of it. but this was so good, right? >> maybe the feeling is, hey, there's no need to try to

effect for the north bay valleys until 9 a.m. temperatures down to 31 degrees in that region. so as we look at temperature readings locally, we see is 48 san francisco, that's one of the milder ones, 55 in half moon bay. but upper 30s at oakland and mountain view and 33 at palo alto. other temperature readings right now, 31 at santa rosa and fairfield, 3233 at concord and livermore 30 at novato is really chilly in our inland areas and by midday, even as the temperatures are rising, we're still concerned about a little bit of coastal flooding. coastal flood advisories in effect for the north bay shoreline in the bay. the san francisco bay shoreline between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. because of unusually high tides. but we're talking about localized flooding in low lying areas. so it won't be severe and it won't be widespread. and in the afternoon, things will get a little bit milder under sunny skies and high clouds, high temperatures will rise into the mid 60s on the coast, mid 60s, around the bay shoreline, upper 60s down to the south bay. the coolest region today will be the east bay with highs only in the

week eight of where we have three westbound lanes blocked. no wide load vehicles allowed there, no estimate to when that'll reopen either. unfortunately tracy to dublin, it's slow at 52 minutes. dublin to mission boulevard. you see it slow around 29 minutes. we will end with a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. we're metering lights came on at 541 today. >> the man arrested in connection with the shooting of three palestinian students in vermont is expected to make his first court appearance. this 48 year old jason eaton was arrested yesterday. police say he approached the three students saturday night outside an apartment building and started shooting. an attorney representing the students believes that the attack could be a hate crime because they were wearing palestinian scarves and were not and were not robbed. police say all three men are still receiving medical care. one of them has a serious spinal injury. >> 58 hostages are being held by hamas, are now home safe this morning and more are expected to be released today. in exchange is released. a total of 117 palestinian women and teenagers being held there as prisoners. an extension to the four day

truce is now being negotiated between israel and hamas. the white house is expressing support for that extension to allow all hostages taken by hamas to go free. >> i've worked closely with president sisi of egypt. the israeli government, king abdullah of jordan, and leaders throughout the region to expand the delivery of critical humanitarian assistance. >> israel's cabinet members and hamas both signaling they are on board with extending the truce. nearly 200 hostages are still in hamas custody here in the bay area. local jewish community leaders are saying they are happy for the release of hostages and are cautiously optimistic a cease fire will last. we are so thankful and grateful that they are out safely and at the same time, we're certainly not satisfied or content with the release of the hostages up until this point, until every last one is back home safe and sound. leaders say they are grateful for the

got hundreds of employees on hand right now sorting. through packages, getting things off shelves, putting them into boxes and then getting them ready to be delivered to your doorstep. it's going to be probably an interesting year when it comes to cyber monday. retail experts say shoppers are being very picky this year. they're expecting a 5% increase in people shopping this year, but they say they're looking for the best discounts. high inflation has led to tighter budgets and therefore people are spending money today. they really want to make sure they're going to be getting their money's worth. retail experts say shoppers will spend around 12 billion potentially today on cyber monday usually marks the end of those black friday thanksgiving deals. but when we spoke with amazon this morning, they've got plenty of deals ready to go on very steep deals today and throughout the holiday season, but really big deals today. >> i do recommend customers check for our lightning deals that are happening every hour or two. you got to check back to the site. we're talking 53% off. of course, items. we're talking

for a project on the peninsula. it's about three miles of trail that will be closed between blair island road and twin dolphin drive in redwood city. this is to allow crews to work on the nearby cordilleras creek bridge replacement project. according to caltrans, the bridge is at the end of its service. life and needs to be replaced. >> new york congressman george santos is likely facing expulsion from congress. the house ethics committee released a bipartisan report last week that found evidence of alleged lawbreaking by the republican. the investigation said santos allegedly used campaign funds for personal purposes like thousands of dollars on botox trips to atlantic city payments
