way. that's a look at your forecast. first back to you, reggie. thanks, drew. >> developing news out of las vegas. the person suspect of a deadly attack on the unlv campus has been identified as a man in his 60s. sources tell abc news he had applied to be a professor at that school but wasn't hired. jobina is at the live desk with what we know about the investigation. >> jobina thank you, reggie. authorities credit the responding officers with saving countless lives when a gunman opened fire at unlv, killing three people just before noon yesterday. the sheriff says students were gathering outside a building that houses the business school. they were playing games and eating when the gunfire started inside the building. police arrived and told people to, quote, run, run, hide, fight. video shows students scrambling to get away. many barricaded themselves in classrooms for about 40 minutes later to university detectives killed the suspect in a shootout outside the building. we heard a bunch of shots and the second police got there, they went in

and more shots fired. >> everybody starts running in the opposite direction. i nearly got trampled like some girl fell over herself, going down the stairs as police identify the suspect as 67 year old anthony pulido, investigators are searching an apartment in henderson, nevada, believed to be his home. >> police say the three victims were faculty or staff, not students. >> stephanie jobina, thank you. and abc7 news also spoke with a unlv student from the bay area. caitlin tineo was at the university when the shooting happened and she was actually on the other side of campus when she got the alert from the school. >> i ran to the student apartments across the street because i knew people who live here and then i've just been here ever since. i don't feel safe anymore at all. um finals are next week and all of my finals are supposed to be in person. >> a stressful time. the

university brought therapy dogs to help students and staff ease their fear and stress the campus will be closed for the remainder of the week as soon as today. >> street vendors in san francisco could see some much needed relief, courtesy of the mayor's office. a ban on vending along mission street is now in its second week, and these vendors say they are struggling because of it. abc seven news reporter lena howland is live at city hall with how that plan could help them. lena reg for ts that have been struggling to make ends meet. >> just street vendors are pleading for city officials to intervene and help them, saying they don't have the money to pay rent next month. the two locations where vendors are selling from rented out from the city aren't getting any foot traffic. the first is at 2137 mission street with room for at least 43 vendors to sell indoors. and the second is lilac. lilac alley with nine

spots for vendors at the first location. juan mendoza told us in the last two weeks used to sell three times that amount a week. now he grabs his merchandise and persuades people to go in. >> you have to do todos los dias. this is what i have to do every day to stand out here. he promotional edificio vendors and start promoting what's happening inside. >> we're trying to help as many people as possible, but unfortunately, as you can see, people are not coming to the placita and people are really losing in their income right now . keep in mind, the city originally imposed the street vending ban two weeks ago as a strategy to get rid of unpermitted vendors selling stolen items on the sidewalks in an effort to help the street vendors. >> the mayor is also expected to announce plans to launch a marketing campaign to better promote the marketplaces and

district, eight hotels in the neighborhood did very well, but a majority of the 113 restaurants and cafes did not. the number of visitors to those businesses was down by over 33. revenue was down an average of 64. >> as apex started to step in. we anticipated a three day heavy closure with a little setup. it was much larger than expected, as we can all know. it ■really became a ten day shut down for the entire neighborhood. so this group says the advice for workers to stay home because of all the traffic that was going to be on the streets may have also played a role. >> the board of supervisors anticipated there would be some impact and passed a resolution setting aside $10 million to help small businesses. it's yet to be determined how much money affected businesses will get. >> yeah, precedent for going up to around $50,000 per business. i think that's a good goal. the businesses would have to provide financial loss. >> some of the money may also be

problem that has stuck with the city for decades. according to a citywide count. there are nearly 8000 homeless people in san francisco, so the city spends 5% of its billion dollar budget tackling homelessness. during our take action san francisco town hall event, abc seven news sat down with city leaders to talk about this crisis. mayor breed says the city made progress because they got clarity on a court decision. she blamed the ninth circuit court decision that prevented the city from moving people who declined shelter because as we were not
