starting to ramp up from here. let's get to weather anchor spencer christian tracking it all, and let's talk about this intensity, because it's picking up from what we saw today. yeah, it certainly is. >> mention we had a level one storm today. we are now seeing the arrival of a level two system. so even stronger, more widespread, more intense. let's take a look at live doppler seven. you can see a batch of downpours offshore and some of it's actually moving on shore right now right across the bay. we've got an area of showers and scattered downpours moving across the bay to oakland, san leandro, hayward and union city and some steady, heavy downpours moving into the santa cruz mountains right now as well. so let's take a look at the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale for the overnight hours. and tomorrow. overnight obviously is part of tomorrow because it happens after midnight. we expect a level two storm with rain arriving in the early morning hours, heavy at times with gusty wind and it will be a wet morning commute. probably a wet evening commute as well, with the chance of possibility of localized

flooding here. here's our forecast animation starting at midnight. notice between midnight and 2 a.m. the arrival of what i just showed you on live doppler seven. widespread heavy downpours and strong gusty wind continuing through the morning commute through the midday hours and into the evening commute. then overnight tomorrow, the rain continues into tuesday. this is going to be quite a wet start to the week. by thursday morning we'll be looking at rainfall totals across the bay area from three to 4.5in. i'll give you a closer look at the seven day forecast in a few minutes. >> dionne okay. sounds good. spencer. thanks now back east, a powerful pre holiday storm is threatening the chances at smooth travel for the holidays. there has been bad flash flooding in florida this weekend and now it's sliding up north to impact millions in at least 20 states. abc seven news reporter j.r stone went to sfo tonight to see how things are shaping up for the busy week ahead. >> tis the season for on time flights, quick check ins and no problems whatsoever. right? you united was not my favorite. >> i'll leave it at that.

expected to be the most congested day on the road. if you're driving head out early. the worst time to travel will be between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. new at 11 tonight, owners of a popular donut shop in oakland are feeling defeated and asking leaders for help after their store was apparently just robbed again. in this exclusive security video, take a look as an individual enters colonial donuts on lakeshore avenue at around 7:00 tonight, the employee at the counter claims the man was armed and demanded cash. he then walks out with a handful of bills. now, you may remember in june, the shop was also targeted in an armed robbery. after that, the community organized a buyout event to show support for the business. colonial donuts and other nearby merchants also then met with city leaders asking for solutions. the owner of the shop tells me tonight she is grateful no one was harmed, but is now demanding accountability from elected officials. in a statement, she says in part, quote, we are calling the city

leaders to take immediate and meaningful steps toward addressing this crisis. it is crucial for them to acknowledge that the current situation is unsustainable, and we demand a comprehensive and effective response. we have messages out to oakland police, but are waiting to hear back. now time for tonight's abc seven advancer at 11. it's our way of getting you ahead and on top of the headlines, you'll be hearing much more about in the days to come. and our first tonight is the situation on the ground in gaza and israel's war with hamas tonight, the israeli military claims to have uncovered a new hideout for the hamas terror group. new video from the idf claims to show the biggest underground tunnel they have found allegedly used by hamas. it's estimated to have taken years to build and millions of dollars as the israeli military says they will be destroying it. meantime, families of israel's hostages still being held by hamas are demanding new negotiations to secure their

release. >> the only way to bring hostages alive is by negotiating and by a deal. i know we are doing a deal with the devil. i'm sure. i know it's tough, but this is what we have. >> and just in tonight, the united nations security council will reportedly hold a vote tomorrow for a new resolution calling for an urgent cease fire. it all comes after the destruction of a hospital in northern gaza, where eight patients died, including a nine year old child. our next abc seven news advances at 11 is the battle over border security coming from the us senate, senators are working on a new framework to secure the southern borders in exchange for a deal to send foreign aid to israel and ukraine. senate majority leader chuck schumer delayed the holiday recess to get a deal done. however, tonight ended with no major consensus. republican senator lindsey graham said this earlier today on nbc's meet the press. to all

firefighters in the town of pomona say they arrived at about 245, and at first thought they were gaining the upper hand. however, after about 20 minutes, the roof started to collapse and that fire even expanded and the pastor of the church says he is deeply saddened because about 500 people had registered for today's celebration. >> the kids had practice all day yesterday. the kids were doing the play and we were going to have two showings. >> we're going to have a train outside and everything, so obviously, definitely going to happen. so it's a tough day. the church is uh- know that somehow, some way, even though it's going to be a process, guess where to come back stronger. the cause of that fire remains under investigation. >> an iconic san francisco business, closed for months, will be back open just in time for christmas. liguria bakery was forced to close after a fire in august, and hopes to reopen in just a few days. the north beach staple has been around since 1911 and is famous for its

focaccia. the scirocco family tells me they are grateful to be opening just in time for the holidays. they say christmas eve is the busiest day of the year for them, with customers lining up sometimes as early as 3 a.m. tonight scary moments for president biden and the first lady as a car plowed into a secret service suv. it was part of president biden's motorcade in wilmington, delaware. and here is how it looked. yeah, you can see the look of shock on the president's face. investigators are now working to determine if impairment was a factor, as the crash didn't seem intentional. both the president and first lady, jill biden, were unharmed, and president biden was visiting his campaign headquarters at the time. and was leaving when it happened, according to a secret service spokesperson. tonight the president continued on without incident, got a helping hand for

some local families today. the festival of globe held its annual toy and blanket drive at the fremont hindu temple. abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel was there for the event. it's dedicated to helping local kids in need throughout the community. we started this blanket drive 1983 when we established this temple, and now it's gone into toy drive. >> the educational materials. so we try to give it to everybody who we can out there and more giving the better. whether they are poor, whether they are any creed, color or any race. they all need to be helped. toys donated by the temple's drive have gone to kids in alameda, santa clara and contra costa counties. >> well, they may seem like something as simple as a batch of holiday lights, but new at 11 for one homeowner in the north bay, they mean so much more. and luckily, fire crews in the town of windsor were willing to jump in to save the christmas spirit. abc seven news reporter tara campbell has this story.

>> at first glance, these may look like your average christmas lights, but there's a story behind how they were hung. and we'll begin with this hug. it's sabrina van der ford's way of saying thank you. >> i saw them coming down d street with a ladder and they said, oh, we're going to put your lights up for you. and i'm sure i just went, what do you don't i just like i couldn't believe them. >> this sonoma county fire crew finishing the job, her son began in a couple of weeks ago. rod falling from this ladder while hanging his mother's lights and uh- looked up and kind of got that feeling all of a sudden, like you get when you stand up too fast and next thing i knew, everything just kind of show trunk. >> and then i was on the ground. i kind of remember going through the rose bush a little bit. he also remembers being in a lot of pain, ended up with a separated shoulder, contusions in my chest. um bruised bones, but amazingly enough, no broken

bones. we pull up here and there's christmas lights all over the ground. >> he's on the ground and ladders toppled over. so of course, we go right to work on rod. >> and they got him into the ambulance and on his way to the hospital. and it's right as this crew was packing up that they decided to stay and hang the lights themselves, and we all stopped there for a moment and we said, let's just put the lights up for her. >> i mean, it was just so fantastic that they would do such a thing for me, you know? >> and, um, i'm going to cry all over you know? >> and what do you think it's meant to your mom just to have that gesture? >> well, a feeling of community here, because the pandemic, when she first moved here, she was a hard, hard to meet people. but to have that happen really gave her a sense of community. >> and in a showing of her gratitude, sabrina baking some sweet holiday treats, i just wanted to do something for them because i just, i just i still can't believe they did it. >> it's just unbeliev able to me that they would think to do

offshore. we're still developing right now under rainy conditions in san francisco, 54 degrees. we have 55 at oakland, hayward 57 and mid 50s at san jose and san mateo. half moon bay, the warmest spot in the bay area right now at 64 degrees. we see rain falling at the golden gate. the pavement is getting wet. it's going to be a wet morning commute for much of the bay area. 50 degrees right now in santa rosa, where we have some downpours. 48 degrees at petaluma and low to mid 50s at napa, fairfield, concord and livermore. these are our forecast headlines overnight. we'll have moderate to heavy rainfall and wind, a gusty wind developing tomorrow. wet and gusty from morning to evening. so the morning commute and the evening commute are likely to be wet, slippery and challenging. and tuesday and wednesday the rainy pattern persists. so why don't we go to a look at the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale? this is a level two storm, which will be developed. it will. it's developing right now. it'll be with us after midnight into the early morning commute through the day tomorrow

. rain arrives with heavy downpours at times gusty wind from time to time with gusts above 30mph at moments, but not continuously wet. morning commute. localized flooding is possible. and of course, as the storm is going to be with us throughout the day, we're likely to have a wet evening commute as well. overnight, low temperatures will be mainly in the mid to upper 40s, so not a very chilly overnight period and highs tomorrow on the mild side, mainly in the mid to upper 60s except a little bit cooler up in the north bay, where highs will reach only into the upper 50s. here's our forecast animation starting at midnight between midnight and 2 a.m, we'll see the arrival of the first wave of this storm and it's going to continue through the morning commute. as i mentioned into the nighttime hours tomorrow, overnight tomorrow into tuesday, there'll also be some snow in the sierra over night, tuesday into wednesday. it won't be until thursday morning. the storm actually starts to wind down and by that time we'll see rainfall totals across the bay area ranging from about 2.5in down at san jose to over 3.5in

storms, we're predicting river flows can reach upwards of 3600 cubic feet per second, and we definitely don't want to be damaging the rubber dam during those high river flows. monday morning's commute could be a rough one, and the chp urging drivers to take it easy and be careful. in san francisco, cornell, bernard abc seven news happening now. >> police and loved ones are searching for a woman from capitola and now tonight, her boyfriend is being named as a person of interest. 61 year-old alice carmichael. leilani herman, who goes by alex, was last seen december third in santa cruz. her relatives reported her missing on december 12th after not hearing from her for more than a week. police in el cerrito located her car, which was located in front of her boyfriend's house. 51 year old theobald len gill. he played saxophone in the 80s experimental rock band mr. bungle. el cerrito police are looking for lengel, who also goes by the name milo stone. they believe he may have

traveled to portland, oregon. anyone with information is advised to contact the el cerrito police department. anger in southern california tonight after a four year old boy was killed in a road rage incident. deputies say a family was cut off by an aggressive driver over the weekend. that driver later pulled alongside the family's car and started shooting. police quickly made two arrests in the case. >> we've got cameras everywhere, but we also have these flock. there's called flock cameras and we pretty much know at this point anybody in the city's license plate. and so we're able to track it, you know, you do something at point a we can track you to point b, uh- and then it's a question of getting the warrants and going in and making the apprehension. >> investigators have not yet released the names of the suspects. the mayor says he's been told they are gang affiliated. malibu, california is synonymous with pristine beaches and golden sunsets, but

the pacific coast highway has a reputation of being one of the deadliest roads in l.a. county. for pepperdine. students were recently killed when a car going more than 100 miles an hour crashed into a set of vehicles parked on the side of the road. at least 58 people have died on malibu highways since 2010, and locals say more needs to be done to make the road safer. >> it feels like four huge holes in my heart. if change isn't made personally, i'll feel unheard. >> caltrans is looking into making safety changes on the highway, including adding bike lanes and lowering the speed limit. meta ceo mark zuckerberg is getting a lot of buzz tonight for a top secret committee sound. he's building on the hawaiian island of kauai. according to wired magazine, zuckerberg is building something massive on his 1400 acre shoreline property. construction workers and contractors have been keeping the work a secret, all part of a strict

non-disclosure agreement. the project is estimated to cost in the upwards of $270 million, making it one of the most expensive properties on the planet. closer to home. now in the south bay. sacred heart will begin its annual christmas food box distribution tomorrow. they'll be giving out food and gift boxes worth about $150, to families who could use a little help this holiday season. this is their 59th year giving out the boxes, and sacred heart hopes to give more than 18,000 boxes in total. this year. one of san francisco's last remaining toy stores may have to close its doors if business doesn't pick up soon. the beloved jeffries toy score store in union square, which has been family owned and operated since 1938, has been hit with some hard times. there were once seven jeffries toy stores in the city, but this one on kearny street is all that remains. the pandemic has been hard on people. >> uh- the uptick in crime, we i

baby that's coming up this weekend, 1 p.m. right here on abc seven. >> this weekend marked the 250th anniversary of the boston tea party, and the city of boston threw quite the party last. nah, of course, that's how it went down. thousands came out saturday to see the protest over taxation without representation, then be brought back to life. hundreds of colonial actors boarded a tall ship and dumped more than 2,000 pounds of tea into the waters. this piece of history leading up to the revolutionary war is something locals remember with pride. >> boston fans know their history. don't try to fluff it off and try to pass something by them. they know the daetz. they know the wares. they know the whys in the harbor. >> they do the harbor. >> yes, many attending last night say that the boston tea party serves as a reminder of what protests can accomplish.

all right, moving on to the weather situation. >> protesting the weather won't do any good. oh we tried anyhow so we can be disgruntled about it. but it is what it is. so let's take a look. okay, looking at live doppler seven, we see the next wave of stormy weather pushing onshore right now as the bulk of this develops during the overnight hours, it's tomorrow's storm. it will be a level two on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. so for the overnight hours and tomorrow, we expect rain expanding to all regions of the bay area. it will be heavy at times with gusty wind. it will be a wet morning commute, probably a wet evening commute as well. as you look at the forecast animation, notice between now and about 2 a.m, we'll see the bulk of that storm arriving on shore and expanding through the morning rush, through the midday hours into the afternoon and evening commute. so that will be wet and messy as well. and then going into the overnight hours tomorrow into tuesday, still raining and the rain goes on. so

family and those fans were able to watch their hometown favorite vault into the lead for nfl mvp. but there's another top candidate for mvp, and it's purdy's teammate christian mccaffrey. mccaffrey is the only player in the nfl with over 1000 rushing yards this year. while purdy leads in passer rating and a lot of the other advanced stats. a non quarterback hasn't won mvp in ten years, but there still appears to be a lot of hesitation in giving the mvp to a guy who was the last pick in the draft, so the 2nd may actually end up splitting the vote, but purdy says the answer is clear mvp goes to mccaffrey. >> dude, i think i think christian should be mvp. i think i really do believe that, you know, he does everything for us, runs the ball well, can catch the ball. he does everything. and so in my eyes that's an mvp. >> you got the best running back in nfl. so for him to get mvp consideration i mean i think that's that's his just due. and same way with brock brock been playing his butt off. so for him to be in the conversation on the other teammate i couldn't be
