the bay area. i'm going to get you into street level radar. we're seeing some light to moderate rain right around ignacio boulevard between marinwood and novato highway 101. as we move into the east bay from el cerrito to berkeley, san pablo, you will notice across highway 24, we are seeing some lighter showers and some light rain across the peninsula into the south bay from los altos to san jose. evergreen you will notice even right around highway 101 going into morgan hill. so this is what you're going to have to deal with tomorrow morning. there are two areas of low pressure. the first system is right here. and then there's a secondary low that is coming our way, which is why you want to hang on to the umbrellas for a few days. gusts to 44 right now in mount diablo. big rock ridge is 50 almost miles an hour. and as we go, hour by hour, tomorrow morning's commute will include those scattered showers. so definitely allow that extra time as we head into the afternoon. still those showers going. it's a level one on our storm impact scale.

slight chance of thunder. certainly gusty winds and thunder chance, not just tomorrow. minor roadway flooding, but continuing through wednesday. i'll be back with a full look at the timeline and rainfall totals coming up. >> dan okay, sandhya, thanks a lot. let's show you how bad the flooding was in some parts of the bay area earlier today. this was the scene at alemany and bayshore boulevards. the flooding affecting the southbound on ramp to highway 101. this was about 3:00 this afternoon. it took hours for the situation to be resolved, but at about 730 tonight, the ramp was reopened. >> the slick road conditions outside have been a factor in several car accidents over the past few days. since saturday morning, at least seven people have died in car accidents in the bay area. the latest happening in concord tonight. weather conditions, speed and dui are all being considered as contributing factors. abc seven news reporter j.r stone has more than two chp officers in the rain, and along i-680 in pleasanton monday. >> after this, honda pilot went off ■the road, possibly hittinga tree. according to officers, two

people inside the vehicle died. it's the latest in not one, 2 or 3, but at least four fatal accidents across the bay area over the course of the last three days. >> there was two babies. yes, one, i think, passed away and the other that i was holding was is looks like he's in critical condition. they were resuscitating him when i looked over after i was pulled away from him. >> candace turner is referring to this accident scene early saturday morning along highway four in martinez. the two babies she's referring to are kids, a five year old child that died, and an 11 year old child who she held in her arms and who survived, follow the speed limit. >> wear your seatbelts and just drive with caution. >> chp says the five year old, who died in this crash was not properly restrained. the person driving has been arrested for dui and manslaughter. the message from chp headquarters is clear slow down, drive sober,

celebrate responsibly. >> have that designated driver. don't. don't risk like, you know, losing your life, taking somebody else's life. >> the two other fatal wrecks involved a 19 year old woman who died in an accident on the richmond-san rafael bridge sunday night, and two people who died after their vehicle crashed into a tree along the san tomas expressway in campbell on monday. chp maximum enforcement starts later this week, meaning all available officers will be on roadways. they're urging you to call in if you see someone driving who might be impaired. make that call. >> if you see that you know if you wouldn't want that person driving next to your family, to your friends, pick up the phone and call 911 and report what you're seeing, all with the hope that we won't continue to see more fatal crashes like this. >> j.r. stone, abc seven news. >> well, the wet weather here and stormy conditions back east

latest. tim. >> yeah. dan. now, those names of those three individuals are not going to be made public. that's because of confidentiality and privacy concerns. but remember, oakland hasn't had a police chief since february. and several folks tell me they believe the long process has hurt the city. >> the long wait in oakland may finally be coming to an end. ten months after losing yet another police chief, the city's police commission has sent a list of three candidates for mayor xiang tao to consider. >> just get it done. this has been an arcane process. barry donilon is the president of the oakland police officers association. he says the long period of uncertainty without a chief has cost both the department and the city itself. all of it coming during a year where crime has continued to rise. we need stability in the organization. we need stability when it comes to addressing crime, and we need a plan. whoever is ultimately chosen will have a monumental task ahead of them, says lisa hill, a criminal justice professor and policing expert at cal state east bay. i think it's really

important that the mayor get this right, hill tells me. after years of going through multiple chiefs internal dysfunction within the department and sometimes strained relations with oakland city leaders, whoever leads opd next will have to work hard to rebuild community trust. >> oakland is a unique city, and so just picking a chief with with leadership skills is, you know, that's good. but i think you're going to need a unique chief. and it's not just the community relationship that needs to be rebuilt. >> according to hill, after former chief lauren armstrong controversial firing in february , hill believes the new chief could also have to address dissatisfaction within opd ranks to whoever takes on this department, potentially is taken on a split department. >> there are still some folks that are loyal to the outgoing chief. that's why hill believes one thing mayor tao will be looking for is adaptability. >> are they are evolving with their officers, with society as a whole, with the way crime is

happening, the whole societal picture now, theoretically, one of these three final candidates could be former chief leronne armstrong. he has made it very clear that he does want the job. as for mayor, though, she said she would not rehire him in the studio. tim johns abc seven news so that seems like a long shot, to say the least. to say the least. >> thanks, tim very much. >> contra costa county has issued more violation notices against the martinez refinery today. the notices include air quality violations, public nuisance and an illegal burn after locals complained of a grass fire near the plant. the refinery issued a level one alert after the heat of a flare sparked the fire on friday. flaring from the refinery could be seen around the region. it was blamed on an operational incident. some of the protesters facing charges for shutting down the bay bridge last month were in court today. >> a total of 80 people are facing five misdemeanor charges each. today, hundreds rallied outside san francisco's hall of justice, urging the district attorney to drop the charges. last month, the protest, calling

for a ceasefire in gaza, shut down the bay bridge for hours. and it was during the apec summit. today, 17 of the protesters faced a judge. >> all of this could have been prevented if these elected officials called for a cease fire. so people do what they feel like they need to do out of desperation. >> in a statement, san francisco's district attorney says the exercise of free speech is one thing, but it cannot compromise public safety. but this group says the da's response does not represent san francisco. last week, we reported on local disapproval involving the controversial bike lane design on san francisco's valencia street mission area merchants blame the bike lane for a drop in business after 70 parking spots were removed from the street. >> some local cyclists have also voiced the need for a new design. sfmta released a statement today saying the bike lane is still part of a pilot program, and that it's now exploring a curbside protected bike lane design for valencia street right in china, more than 100 people are dead, and search

news. wonderful gesture. >> now to an example of building a better bay area. ucsf is expanding its bimonthly food pharmacy, where they hand out groceries for food insecure patients. the idea is that food is medicine. when a physician also gives healthy cooking lessons and nutrition advice on a monthly basis, doctor gina moreno john started this resource a few years ago after seeing a need in the community. >> we found out in 2018 that about 1 in 4 of our patients doesn't have enough food to eat, so in 2019, we started this program called the food pharmacy. it's a food bank in clinic that really tries to center what the patients need so they can have food to get healthier and to reduce their stress. and uh, you know, and concerns around budget as well. a new grant is helping to expand this service to all of ucsf's 11 primary care clinics in san francisco, happening tomorrow. >> san francisco's airport commission will consider naming the international terminal in honor of senator dianne feinstein. last month, a group

looks like a live view from our exploratorium camera and you can pretty much see raindrops dotting the lens. so here's what you need to know. an accuweather alert. your morning commute will include wet roads, minor flooding, and reduced visibility. remember wipers on, headlights on, and drive carefully. we're basically looking ahead to off and on showers all day. and speaking of on live doppler seven, we do have the rain falling right now as we get you into san francisco. street level radar the peninsula you will notice around mission street, california street we are seeing the wet weather also right around pacifica. some light to moderate showers in the north bay from marinwood heading towards black point at sonoma area. we are seeing some showers there and scattered showers from the santa cruz mountains. all the way down towards the los gatos area and morgan hills. so definitely give yourself that extra time for the morning commute. first low that brought the stormy start to your monday with the first band of wet weather is starting to move off

to the east. a secondary low is going to drop down and that's just going to reinforce the wet weather that we are experiencing right now. over the next couple of days, winds are gusting to 24 miles an hour and half moon bay right now, so we'll keep those winds going, at least for another few hours before they subside. now, rainfall since sunday, we're picking up quite a bit of rain in the santa cruz mountains. you expect that over two inches, but even santa rosa getting close to three inches 1.41. san francisco almost an inch in oakland getting just over that in napa, brentwood as well as san jose, 6000/300 of an inch. livermore if you're not in the rain shadow, you got 8000/200 of an inch and you're still counting. all right. temperature is 50 to 60. it's really mild out there compared to 24 hours ago. running warmer, just about everywhere up seven degrees in san jose compared to 24 hours ago. so here are the headlines the week ahead. overnight showers, breezy conditions. the next few days. periods of rain. and this weekend we are looking at cold mornings with plenty of sun

coming your way. so take a look at what you can expect. standing water on the roadways, localized flooding, a moderate to high likelihood, or a medium to high likelihood. power outages. we've experienced some of these tonight and still a possibility, at least for tonight. sierra snow. it's been rain and then switching over to snow above 8000ft. those snow levels will be coming down to about 7000ft tomorrow. so tonight through wednesday, level one scattered showers, gusty thunder chance. minor roadway flooding expected to continue tomorrow morning. those scattered showers will include some brief downpours 6 a.m. as well. so give yourself that extra time by noontime, the focus is on the north bay, but then those scattered showers continuing through the evening going into wednesday. this is when we are expecting that secondary low to bring us some downpours. wednesday morning, and that is going to be the likelihood of some thunderstorms as well. rainfall estimates will range anywhere from a few inches in the north bay and along the coast over three inches to about a third to a half an inch in our
