>> jimmy: thank you. hi, everybody. i'm jimmy. i'm the host of the show. thank you for watching. thank you for joining us. we had a couple of days off last week for thanksgiving, and now we're back after a long weekend with our weird families. we're back with our weird co-workers, which is nice. we actually did a fun thing this year. you know those turkeys president biden pardoned last week? we tracked them down and cooked them, and they were delicious. [ laughter ] you ever have a pardoned turkey? they're so -- because they don't see it coming. they're very tender. [ laughter ] i was too busy cooking to shoot any video on thanksgiving, but my mother is italian, and it was basically this. >> we got an italian american thanksgiving this year! we got the big plate already. we got fresh mozzarella with prosciutto.

$9.8 billion online on friday alone. in the finance community, they call that a dingle-bezos. i was thinking, everybody is complaining about the price of gas, the price of milk. you forget, you can buy a 65-inch tv for $135 now. i buy them and use them as placemats. i give them out for halloween. to the kids. there were some good college rivalry games over the weekend including a shootout between tcu and oklahoma. they combined for 114 points despite a snoop dogg-style entrance. they turned up the smoke machine to 11, i think. and just like that, it went from a college football game to "all quiet on the western front." they were dumping gatorade on players just to revive them. i got a special thanksgiving message from -- i don't know if you saw this -- from of all people, marjorie taylor greene. the other night, i mentioned

that marge is taking a break from burning books to write one. and i guess she's a viewer, because she reached out on twitter. she wrote, "hey, since most of your show content is your nonstop lies about me, why don't you have me on your show? i'll bring you a copy of my book, and we can chat about what needs to happen to save america!" i guess i'm a hollywood libtard that's part of the celebrity pedophile satan club until she has a book to promote. then i'd love to swing by. should be fine, and i was with ayo who plays sydney on the show. >> jimmy: she is great. >> amazing. we're in chicago shooting the second season, and we go to this steakhouse, gibson's steakhouse, which is like a really famous steakhouse, really amazing, and we didn't have a reservation, and ayo and i go up to the host, and we're, like, hey, it's us. it's us. we're good, right? and they're like, sorry, do you have a reservation? no, no, no, but it's us. come on. it's an hour and a half wait. very good. we take a walk. >> jimmy: oh, wow. >> appreciate the gibsons. >> jimmy: you got to poke your head in the kitchen because maybe the hostess might not know. >> it's true. >> jimmy: but those chefs all know you back there, and they're all yelling, yes, chef. and as far as thanksgiving, are you now expected to cook? >> yes. so i went to a friend's house this thanksgiving, and i prepared some stuffing, and i made some pie and stuff like that. >> jimmy: you did? >> yeah, which was all smooth and okay. >> jimmy: homemade? box? come on.

[ applause ] >> jimmy: you toasted the bread, and you add the sausage. >> leave the bread out on the counter for a couple of days, let it get stale, but then i get there, and, you know, it's a big dinner. it's like 30. it's a big turkey, and they're, like, all right. who knows how to carve a turkey. and everybody is kind of winking at me like i'm going to do it. and i feel like i have to kind of appease everybody and make everybody happy. so i go up there, and i start carving. i should know how to do this. i went to culinary school. i learned how to break down a chicken. i know how to do this stuff, but the pressure and the moment. i'm in front of everybody, i'm cutting, i'm cutting, and i get too nervous. i can't do it. and somebody actually had to come in and save the chef. >> jimmy: oh, that's embarrassing. >> it was really, really, really embarrassing, yes. >> jimmy: one of the episodes that i particularly enjoyed this season was the christmas eve, because we do the feast of seven fishes at my house. >> sure. >> jimmy: and i run like the whole thing.

like, i most identified with jamie lee curtis' character. that's me, smoking and cursing and getting drunk during the meal. >> sure. someone has to. >> jimmy: especially with seafood, because everything has to come out exactly the right time. >> the timing. yes. >> jimmy: was that as chaotic to shoot as it was to watch? >> it was -- it was chaotic in the sense that i couldn't believe we got all of those amazing actors. >> jimmy: yeah, you had a lot. >> we had bob odenkirk and sarah paulson and jamie. it was just -- >> jimmy: john mulaney. >> john mulaney, who is amazing. so it was chaotic in the sense that, like, i feel like i was having a hard time getting into the scene because i was in awe of all of these people that i was such a big fan of, but, no, it was really amazing how i think everybody -- everybody knew their place. everybody kind of like understood the energy of the scene. like, it felt -- it felt simple in a sense, even though the final products didn't seem simple.

>> you know, i did a red carpet for the film for "iron claw" and i kind of black out on those things. i get so nervous. i don't know how to handle myself, and i say some dumb stuff. and i get a call the day before thanksgiving. my folks are, like, hey, what are you doing for thanksgiving? i'm going to michael and wendy's. i'm cooking this. what are you doing? well, we would be cooking, but we can't cook. what are you talking about? and they were like, well, we read that you said that your parents don't know how to cook. i was like, oh, my god, oh, my god, oh, my god. i must have just like in a flurry of interviews. so did you grow up in a household that people cooked? and i was like, no, my parents didn't really do that, and kept it moving. but the truth is, i know, mom, you're all about "the new york times" recipes. i know you're trying really hard. and they're good at so many other things. they're good at so many other things. really admire. that will probably happen. but, well, who will be like the one. and she is, like, i don't know. like cate blanchett. if i met cate blanchett, i feel like i would lose it. i'm sure we're not going to see cate blanchett. don't worry. we're in line to do the red carpet, and cate is six people ahead of us. i had done a film, "fingernails," that cate produced. we never met, but she produced the thing, makes eye contact with me, beelines it to my mother and my mother starts sobbing uncontrollably, for reasons i don't really understand. and so cate was really excited to me, but then really concerned for my mother. trying to fix it. and my mom was trying to explain that nothing is really wrong. it's just like your beauty and grace and presence that's making me sob. >> jimmy: maybe there is more yelling at the dinner table, she wouldn't be so emotional. >> exactly. exactly, exactly. it wouldn't have to come out with cate. >> jimmy: boiling. well, i saw your movie last night. it's real good. >> thank you. >> jimmy: it's called "the iron

there is like, you know, metal cable with very little cushion. and i was like we're making a movie. do we need to -- do we need to be doing it this way? we can use a little extra cushion is fine. and they're like, no, no, this is how it's done. i was, like, all right. and, yeah, it's painful. >> jimmy: sean durkin is the director of the film. this is somebody you've known for a while? >> for such a long time. one of the first movies i ever did is this movie called "after school." i did when i was 15. i was working in a casting office, in new york as a reader, and i got cast that sean produced when he was just 23 years old. antonio campos directed it. sean produced it, and so, yeah, i've kind of been trying to find my way back to sean for, i mean, ten years. >> jimmy: and then you're playing a wrestler. you don't look huge right now, but you look pretty huge in this movie. >> yeah, i tried. >> jimmy: you go up, you go down like that? >> look, i didn't know what i was doing.

i think i just -- i knew i had to eat more, and so i ate more. i knew i had to lift heavy things. so i lifted a lot of heavy things, and i knew you should try to stay away from -- like i like to run. i like to do jump rope in my everyday life. that makes me feel good. these guys didn't do a lot of that stuff. >> jimmy: no cardio. just getting big. zac efron is gigantic. >> he looks incredible, yeah. it's really something. >> jimmy: he could probably beat up some of the real wrestlers. i feel like. >> i feel like he could beat anybody up, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> jimmy: when he is that big, does it kind of make you nervous? >> well, yes. >> jimmy: you're not going to -- >> yeah. i didn't want to stand near him during the movie, which was a problem, because we play brothers, and we need to stand close to one another. >> jimmy: that was a fun clip, obviously, but it's a very sad, tragic, and true story about the von erich family. >> yeah. >> jimmy: i remember them from the '80s. they were a big wrestling family, the dad and the kids. and what happened to them is like -- at the end of the movie,

you're, like, oh, yeah, all this stuff really happened. it's crazy. >> yeah. it's an unbelievable true story. it's -- i mean, it plays like a greek tragedy of sorts, the tragedy that follows this family around, the von erich family. but i think sean and myself and zac and harris, we really wanted to make a movie that also focused on that, like, love and camaraderie between the brothers. there is a lot of competition between them, but also a lot of caring. >> jimmy: i know there aren't many members of the family left for reasons that are explained in the movie. >> yeah. >> jimmy: and their true story. did any of the family see this movie? >> yeah, yeah. kevin von erich is still with us, and that's the character that zac plays, and kevin was with us in dallas when we screened the film for the first time. and carrie, my character's daughters were there. so it's the first time i met kevin and the first time i met carrie's daughters.

and they're going to yell. they feel they pay you enough money. i've never gone up to the fans and messed with anybody. they paid their money. they got a right the say things, as long as they're not hitting you and touching you, you can't go up to them, but i have had some situations now. know what i'm saying? >> jimmy: like what? >> ha, ha! i think it was like one year we were playing the panthers in the playoffs, right? now, earlier that season, the commissioner had given me -- let's call it a five-game vacation. i ain't want it but he gave it. five-game vacation. and after i came back, we were getting ready to play carolina. this is a true story too in the playoffs. and before every game, i run and just touch everybody's sideline marker. to me that means i'm going get 100 yards. so as i'm coming down, i see these fans, group of fans, they knew i had gone through something earlier. they had these shirts on.
