>> back now on gma looking at travel trends as we get ready to soar into the new year. brian kelly, known as the points guy, joins us with the hottest destinations and ways to save you money. we love to save. we love to see you again. >> thanks for having me. >> of course. what should we look for when we're traveling in 2024? what do you got for us? >> it's going to be busy. we saw record numbers over thanksgiving travel. you've got to be smart about how you plan your trips because airports and destinations will be crowded. my first tip is go off peak or shoulder season. europe travel was absolutely bonkers expensive this summer. we are foreseeing the same happening next year. my key tip is go in the spring or fall to europe. it's gonna be much more temperate an hotel prices will be as much as half than summer.

[ laughter ] >> that's a problem. >> it's hot. >> didn't used to be that hot. >> yeah. >> okay. let's talk about destination dupes. we've been teasing it all morning. what are they? how can they save us money? >> we've all seen on tik tok, the fashionista trends. the $700 jeans versus the cheap knockoffs. destination dupes are a little bit of the same. you can get the same feel without the same price tags. the first one we have today, so many people want to go to santorini, get their shot of the sun set. trust me. i have been to santorini. it's beautiful, but so crowded. what we recommend is go to paros, which is another greek island, easy to get to by plane or ferry, but you're going to get -- it's still kind of quiet. it's not totally off the beaten path, but there are so many other tiny greek islands that you get the same experience and hotel prices are a fraction of what you'll get on santorini.

trepbs we should look for in 2024? >> cruising is back. funny enough, the key trends in cruising, ships are getting bigger but also smaller. i actually just went on an expedition cruise to greenland which was absolutely amazing. we are seeing more and more people go to antarctica and africa. expedition cruising is big. the cruise lines are, for the bigger cruises, they are offering deals to get people back and comfortable. kids sail free, free wi-fi. there are still deals to be had. the good news is air fare is coming down from its 2021 and 2022 highs, so we are seeing as inflation comes down, it is happening as well in travel. you just got to know how to sniff out those deals. >> what are some of the other tips now that we know the possibilities? tips to save money and time. >> credit cards. you got to get a good credit card. as my dad always told me, cheap is expensive. don't just go for the no annual fee card. you got to look at the perks. so many hotel credit cards, so

many people are fixated on air fare but hotels are really expensive. there are so many hotel credit cards that have free nights just for signing up. some can offer three, four, five nights just for getting a single credit card. every year you renew you get another free night. hilton has a surpass card out now that has 170,000 points. hilton also has fifth night free on awards. you got to look at the big picture when looking at travel. it's not just air fare. air fare can be pretty cheap. it's spending once you get to your destination. >> good help. >> take advantage of those points. >> brian, thank you very much. we appreciate it. >> thanks for having me. coming up next, our play of the day way up high over times square. stay with us. i know what it's like to perform through pain. if you're like me, one of the millions suffering from pain caused by migraine, nurtec odt may help. it's the only medication that can treat a migraine when it strikes and prevent migraine attacks.
