evening for neighbors who lived just off the coast near half moon bay. >> i ran to my window facing the ocean, and i could see that the plane was turning around and it was losing altitude. >> and it all started after 7:00 sunday night. that's when the san mateo county sheriff's office said they got a call from someone at the moss beach distillery. the person reported a plane flying erratically and sputtering before losing sight of it. this witness described what she heard. we heard this like motor engine, like puttering, like you hear in a movie when a plane's about to crash and you hear the puttering of the engine and it came around the corner and it's kind of a bi plane, very, very visible. >> we figured something was wrong because it was so close to the to the restaurant. >> michelle weil, who lives near the distillery, said she heard the plane too, though planes in the area are normal. she said this was different. >> this one was unusually loud. loud and i looked out the window

and i saw it and it was way lower than normal and it was taking a different flight path. normally they take off and head straight north. they're not allowed to fly over the marine reserve behind me, but it was turning out toward this direction and over the marine reserve, emergency crews responded with drones and a diver. >> sunday night around 830, they found the plane in the water without passengers. now monday, the plane was pulled from the water near ross cove. pieces of wreckage were also found in other places just off the coast. >> the plane was actually upside down in the water and this morning with about 30 search and rescue volunteers, emergency service bureau, we're beginning to see some of that wreckage come up onto the coastline. >> the faa confirmed monday that it was a single engine, cozy mach four airplane with two people on board. the san mateo county sheriff's office said that while the search was going on, a woman's body was found in the water by a commercial fishing boat, though they're still working to confirm her identity, they believe she is associated with the plane crash, the coast guard announced just before 11 monday morning that they had suspended their search

for survivors. the ntsb is now investigating, though authorities confirmed that the plane originated from an east bay airport. they're still not confirming which one in half moon bay. zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> san jose has recorded its first traffic fatality of this new year. a passing suv hit a pedestrian just before 2:00 this morning on monterey road near skyway drive. this is in south san jose. the driver stopped and is cooperating with police. authorities say the pedestrian was crossing monterey road near a crosswalk when she died at the hospital. conditions were foggy at the time, but police have not said whether visibility was a factor. a driver? somehow this is unbelievable. careened off an off ramp and into a building in san francisco. that driver was hospitalized with critical injuries after her car crashed into the second story of the clock tower lofts in the rincon hill neighborhood. it happened last night on the i-80 westbound off ramp at the intersection of bryant and sterling streets. a resident describes the moment the car slammed into the

on bloody sunday in march of 1965, when supporters of doctor king were beaten by police as they crossed the edmund pettus bridge in selma, alabama, at the beginning of a 54 mile trek to montgomery. >> for me, it's a blessing to be here, to walk in unity with all these people of all races, because martin luther king's dream and i'm here. >> while the civil rights marches in alabama helped earn black americans voting rights, those in attendance on this monday. i'm gonna let it shine. say the key to harmony is first, through education. many passing out fliers and holding up signs. it's overwhelming. >> and it's so great to see so many generations of people here, especially the young people, to understand that if you know your history, then you can move forward in the future. the message of unity and solidarity were on full display. >> i come here and i see so much community. >> i see so much joy, and i think there's so much love to that. >> it's an opportunity for us to

>> the mlk celebration train brought hundreds of people into san francisco for the march. ho! hey ho, hey. it was a day celebration. some passengers sang and danced as they made their way up the peninsula to san francisco. the trip commemorates the historic 54 mile march. doctor king led from selma to montgomery, alabama, in 1965. it's a gathering of like minded people to celebrate doctor martin luther king jr for peace, love, kindness, hope. >> they got to bring him and show him where we came to and where we came from, you know what i mean? he's a young cat, two years older than me. you know what i'm saying? >> so it's nothing's impossible to accomplish. >> you know, he became a doctor at a very, very young age. so anything is possible. anything is possible. >> the journey began at san jose's diridon station and included stops in palo alto and san mateo in the north bay, a community wide mlk junior day

celebration in marin city featured music and speakers who reflected on doctor king's legacy as abc's seven news reporter cornell bernard explains, those people also honored doctor king by improving their community. you ought to be so mean. >> there was music and song praising the work and legacy of doctor martin luther king jr. >> our theme this year is let us fan the flame of the dream into a reality. >> residents of marin city and beyond, coming together as they do every year to celebrate doctor king's birthday. it's time of the year where all of marin county comes together. >> so it's a it's a unity thing and we love it. florence williams says this event, now in its 25th year, is celebrated in a place where mlk. >> s name and image is everywhere. reminders of king's work to achieve equality for black americans. >> we want to hold up his legacy of unity, love, togetherness uh- justice. equity, all of that. we

have many years of hard memories , so this day is a great day for celebration and it's nice to see white people involved because that makes it all more beautiful and makes martin luther king rest in peace at mlk academy nearby sausalito, volunteers are spending this day tending to the school's garden, cleaning up and replanting. >> today, we are reimagining doctor king's dream, which is that we provide a service which is we're clearing out beds and we're planting all of our gardens, provide food for the school breakfast and lunch programs. volunteer gabby muse says besides creating food sustainability, this event is about building community bridges. my kids are multiracial, but mill valley is predominantly white and it can be a really isolating experience to be anything other than that in the community, and this is a way to create connections across, um, across different

be here on iowa. >> how much the cold impacts turnout remains to be seen, but for nikki haley and ron desantis, a strong finish is very important as they look ahead to the new hampshire primary next week in des moines, iowa. craig wahl abc seven eyewitness news. >> investigators say a false report triggered a major emergency response to the white house this morning. police determined it was a swatting incident. multiple fire and ems units were dispatched following a 911 call claiming there was a fire at the white house. the caller also claims someone was trapped inside. the call was traced to a fake number and determined to be a false alarm. president biden was not at the white house at the time of the incident, but. >> all right, let's turn to the weather. we talked about what it's like in iowa for the caucuses. brutal cold, another storm coming our way. >> yeah, but right now it's kind of nice outside. >> spencer. it is nice out there right now. it's nice and calm and pleasant. blue skies dry. here's a look at live doppler seven and the satellite radar composite image. you can see

just a few clouds beginning to spill into the bay area, and that pattern will continue overnight. but right now skies are blue and temperatures are these 59 degrees here in san francisco, oakland, 5659. in hayward, 61. san jose 57 at san mateo and half moon bay, blue sky over the golden gate. for the most part, other temperature readings right now mid 50s at santa rosa, petaluma and napa. mid to upper 50s at fairfield, concord and livermore. and these are our forecast headlines tonight. we'll see increasing clouds during the overnight hours tomorrow afternoon and evening rain. although a few drops of rain may begin to fall in the morning hours in the north bay. and this weekend we expect possibility of some heavy rain and quite stormy weather on. we go to a look at the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. the approaching storm is a light level one storm, so tomorrow afternoon and evening is when we'll feel the main impact of the storm. although, as i mentioned, some of these light showers will start to fall in the north bay in the morning hours, isolated downpours are possible and it's going to be a wet and messy evening commute.

forecast animation looks like this by 9:00 tomorrow morning, we'll see the first batches of showers pushing into the north bay between 9 a.m. and about 1 p.m, not much change. it will be mainly in north bay event, but later in the day it all swings eastward and southward and as you can see in the evening hours, it's going to be wet all across the region. and that will certainly slow down the evening commute quite a bit. well, rainfall totals by the end of this rain event, generally between a quarter of an inch and a third of an inch, although a few isolated locations may see more rain than that. overnight. lows mainly low to mid 40s. highs tomorrow, generally in the mid 50s in the rain covered north bay, but. the remainder of the bay area will see highs in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. and here is the accuweather seven day forecast. so we get past the level one storm tomorrow. it will be drier and milder on wednesday, although quite a few clouds lingering mostly cloudy but still dry on thursday. then we get a series of wet days coming our way. all level one storms beginning with evening showers on friday. then on saturday, lightrillionain and showers. sunday looks like the day with
