north bay that visibility is dropping to near zero miles. that fog advisory in effect until 11 a.m. it does include solano county as well. temperatures right now we're beginning in the low 40s to the low 50s. underneath that fog and that cloud cover, it's just a really cloudy day today. a live look from the exploratorium camera. it's a bit damp underneath that fog. you can see that low visibility there. so we have dense fog through 11 a.m. and then the afternoon. just a lot of cloud cover, overcast skies, but temperatures getting us into the 60s away from the coast. rain is back here tomorrow. continues through the weekend. we'll talk about that in six minutes. let's check in with sue and see how the commute is doing. it's our hot spot, actually. >> drew is the bay bridge once again. we had a fog advisory and a couple of earlier accidents. metering lights were activated much earlier this morning. in fact, before 5 a.m. and this is the result, a major backup and very slow on the eastern portion of the span. here's the western portion. you can see things pick up nicely. that earlier accident was right near t that's been pushed off. in fact there were two earlier accidents. and we'll take a look at the maps. now you

big win against organized retail theft. >> three suspects are being charged in connection to a rash of burglaries across the bay area. attorney general rob bonta says the trio hit 25 stores from september to november last year, leading to over $650,000 in losses. >> suspects generally donned dark clothes, masks and gloves to break through security doors and security gates. twice, they stole atm machines, one from an open chevron gas station and one from a closed and smoke shop. >> the three are accused of driving into a walnut creek. louis vuitton and taking $250,000 worth of items. they face nearly 60 felony and misdemeanor counts, including organized retail theft, second degree burglary and grand theft. >> an east bay police department is offering the largest signing bonus in the u.s. in an effort to solve its staffing shortage. >> i have good news ever since

we rolled out the hiring incentive, we went from about a 30% deficit to about a 10% deficit in the last ten months. >> we are told this $75,000 signing bonus is helping to fill positions and to bring in top talent. the san francisco police department has been seeing similar success, claiming to have among the highest starting pay for new police officers in the country at $103,000. >> this morning. the warriors are dealing with the sudden death of their beloved assistant coach. the team says dejan milojevic suffered a heart attack during a team dinner in salt lake city. that means that last night's game was postponed, and abc seven news reporter lena helen is here with more on that. lena, reggie dub nation and the entire basketball community is mourning the loss of coach dickey, as he was called after he suffered a heart attack. >> the night before the warriors would have played the utah jazz, the warriors had a private dinner on tuesday night in salt

lake city, which is pretty normal. they were in and in an italian restaurant when coach dickey suffered the heart attack. cpr was immediately given and he was taken to a hospital, but he passed away yesterday morning at 46 years old. milojevic was in his third year as an assistant coach to the warriors, even helping them win the nba championship back in 2022. and before last night's lakers and mavericks game here on abc seven, the recently turned former gm of the warriors , bob myers, was fighting back tears talking about coach dickey . >> it hurts. he's was this bigger than life person and he he would light up a room

north bay. there's just a lot of moisture hanging in our atmosphere right now. so on a typical clear morning, you would see the entire sf skyline. you can barely see the base of the buildings this morning. the morning commute will feature that fog early on. we'll have those temperatures starting out in the upper 40s to the lower 50s. there you can see that fog this morning. once that fog lifts, it's just an overcast sky. it's a pretty cloudy day today, but we are rain free today. mostly cloudy, temperatures actually bumping a little bit above average upper 50s to the mid 60s for daytime highs. but rain is back here tomorrow. our first front arrives here in the afternoon. it's a level one. we'll likely see a quick downpour, some gusty winds as well. as friday night goes on and here's how your friday is shaping up. we don't expect any issues early on in the morning. we may have some coastal drizzle, but you can see the main event really holds off until the afternoon, and some of the heaviestrillionain will fall after the sun goes down in the evening. but this is just one of several storms we're tracking on the seven day forecast. kumasi. we have a wet weekend ahead, we'll go to those details in a few minutes. >> thank you drew. best places to work. bay area companies that

the story on tuesday and crews are out there yesterday patching up that four inch water pipe at indiana and marin streets as we found out the delay in service was due to a shortage of public works staff and a large number of reported leaks. the city says some of the work orders are more urgent, since they involve 36 inch pipes. those are prioritized over smaller ones like this that, yes, they are a

nuisance leak, but they are not creating any damage to any any residents. >> no residents are out of water in our newsroom. >> got another call from a viewer about a leak at a different location. the water department says they are going to get to that one today. the effort to clean up a fuel spill in san rafael is expected to last through tomorrow, though 1300 gallons of gas spilled when a tanker overturned early wednesday morning. police say the eastbound left lane of freedoms parkway near north gate drive, will shut down starting at ten this morning until two in the afternoon. it will shut down again the same time tomorrow so that crews can continue to mop up the spill. this morning, crews in san mateo county will be proactive, cutting down eucalyptus trees lining highway 92. >> caltrans crews are working to cut down 12 trees, causing slowdowns and lane closures near the crystal springs reservoir. the work started yesterday. eucalyptus trees are not native to california, and they create some maintenance problems, caltrans says. some trees pose a

joining us live with more on how deki, as he was called, is being remembered. lena. come on. >> tributes to coach deki have been pouring in from across the world in the past 24 hours. this happened the night before the team would have played the utah jazz, which was ultimately postponed. 46 year old dejan milojevic was in his third year as an assistant coach to the warriors, part of the same coaching staff which helped them win the nba championship back in 2022 before coming to the golden state, coach deki was already a legend in his home country of serbia. he played internationally for 14 years and was a three time mvp, measuring six foot six. and then he turned to coaching around the world. his impact around the league went beyond just the warriors. here's the head coach of the toronto raptors, another serbian emotional talking about coach deki after their game last night . >> my guys loved him and

racing out of the south, gusting anywhere from 20 to 35mph. with this first storm system on friday, most areas will land between a quarter and three quarters of an inch of rain in our highest peaks, like the santa cruz mountains, we could exceed an inch of rain by friday night, but we are anticipating more storms over the weekend and into early next week. looking at the wet pattern. this is starting friday through tuesday of next week. our highest peaks likely picking up 5 to 7in of rain in the north bay, will likely see 3 to 5in of rain, and then the rest of the bay area. the city, the peninsula, the east bay and the south bay. a range between an inch and a half and three inches, and that could create some minor pockets of flooding, some nuisance flooding on our area roads and also our streams and creeks. snow levels are going to be high above 6000ft. these are mild storms. so through early next week, our highest peaks could pick up about two feet of snow. here's the accuweather seven day forecast showing you mostly cloudy today. wet and windy tomorrow. and there's those downpours over the weekend with a thunderstorm chance early next
