at six starts right now. >> now, building a better bay area moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc seven news from protests in san francisco to the playoffs in the south bay. >> just about anything happening in the region this evening is being impacted by a winter storm that won't let up anytime soon. get ready for an already soggy saturday to get even soggier. good evening and thanks for joining us, everybody. i'm dionne lim. there is a lot more rain in store for us this weekend, and we've got you covered with live team coverage, starting with abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian spence this storm, which is now a level two. that is correct, diana. >> and i like your technical phrasing there. even soggier that's what it's going to be later tonight. let's take a look at live doppler seven. we can see that the rainfall has expanded to cover a wider range. a wider portion of the bay area is generally light or light to

moderate, but there are little pockets of downpours beginning to develop right now south of san francisco, all the way down to burlingame and then across the bay, over to oakland and richmond, and out to orinda. so it's going to be a very wet night. it is already. it's going to get even wetter this is a level two storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. as storm of moderate intensity. and for tonight, we expect continued widespread rainfall with pockets of heavy downpours, gusty winds in the hills and a slight chance of some thunder as the atmosphere is a bit unstable. here's the forecast animation starting at 630 between 630 and about 9 or 930, it'll continue to be mainly light to moderate rainfall after 9 p.m. gets a little bit heavier and becomes more widespread, and then even heavier still after midnight. between midnight and about 4 a. we're going to get some widespread heavy downpours. perhaps some strong gusty wind, and may even contribute to some localized minor flooding. a wind windfall rainfall totals by about 4 a.m. we'll uh- 4 p.m. tomorrow. we'll arrange anywhere from about 2/10 of an inch down in the south bay to over an inch

in parts of the north bay, so it's going to be a really wet storm. and some of the features of this storm to bear in mind are that we expect multiple storms coming through the bay area over the next several days, with heavy rain at times, strong gusty winds, possibly some downed trees and power outages, and of course we're looking out for flooding on rivers, creeks and streams. more on the accuweather seven day forecast a little bit later, dion sounds good. >> spencer. thanks our team coverage continues now from the north bay. firstrillionesponders are standing by ready for possible flooding, even landslides. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard is live for us once again in san rafael with more on this. cornell >> yeah, heather dion here we go again. another round of storms moving in. it's been wet. it is windy and firstrillionesponders are ready for what's next. storm moved into the bay area saturday with the goal of getting everyone wet. the heavy rain giving marin county a super soaking. but for some drivers it

playoff matchup with the green bay packers. abc seven news reporter anser hassan is once again live for us and lots of excitement behind you on sir. >> dion, these fans have been pumped. the 40 niners just scored minutes ago. they now lead seven three. these fans are expecting a big game tonight. tailgating started early. fans have been out here for hours. the 40 niners are hot. they've had an incredible season. this is the 10th time the two teams are meeting in the playoffs. 40 niner fans say their team has had a lot of rest coming into this game. they expect to crush the green bay packers. well, the niners are going to win 45 to 12. >> that's what it's going to be. you sound really confident. oh yeah for sure. they're only getting field goals. that's it. niners are scoring. they're not going to be stopped. we got this i think the niners are going to beat the crap out of the packers. >> we're going to great that cheese and get us a win and work our way into this to the conference finals.

moving on the wet weather wasn't enough to stop people on both sides of the abortion issue from gathering on the streets of san francisco, anti-abortion activists did descended on the city for the 20th annual walk for life. that march closed down market street for much of the day, busses filled with participants came from hundreds of miles away. >> we wanted to come and show our support and show the world that, um, abortion is it's murder makes your heart feel good to stand up and show that you are proud to be pro-life. >> meanwhile, pro-abortion rights groups held a counter-demonstration near the main library. protesters there called for reproductive justice in the wake of the overturning of roe v wade. >> i think that after roe was turned, like so many people don't have access to abortion, and even though we might feel safe in this city, we might feel safe in this state. i think it's really important that we show up, especially when there's such a big force across the street. >> the supreme court has two

to collect 25,000 signatures, or about 10% of oakland's registered voters lead of the recall effort, say tao is responsible for high crime rates in the city. tao, though, has not responded to their recall effort. the deadline for her to do so was yesterday. a campaign to rally support for the proposition b ballot initiative launched today in san francisco. prop b is called be safer. the bill would fund full police staffing for 5 to 10 years, set a minimum officer staffing level , and allow sfpd to request its own budget changes, prop b is backed by a coalition of city and community leaders who say it could improve public safety and financial transparency. prop b

creates a recruitment fund. >> it creates the mandate and it creates the pathway to bring back the minimum number of officers. we need to have in san francisco. >> prop b will be on the ballot on march 5th. the mayor of san jose is calling for a new city policy to prevent encampments from returning to downtown. public spaces. last fall, the city used $2 million to move unhoused residents from the guadalupe river trail into interim housing. since then, some camps have returned. mayor mehan wants to create no return zones and limit where those encampments can be. he says the move would protect public areas. >> if you were here prior to that cleanup effort, you can see why people stopped using the trail. this is a public trail here along the river that should be accessible to everyone. >> some homeless advocates are pushing back on the proposal, calling it cruel. though the city council's rulings committee will take it up this coming

wednesday. a long forgotten piece of san francisco history is back, but on a much smaller scale. doug vargus and his twin brother dan built a mini version of the 1939 world's fair golden gate exposition on treasure island. the model went on display for today only at the treasure island museum. it highlights the fair's art deco architecture and some lifelike details of the nearly century old expo. >> i got inspired. i looked at what the real estate i had to work with, and then i had to plan an attack. how i'm going to build this thing in that space. so it was it was challenging. but inspiration helps. and that's what brought the joy of wanting to share with the public how incredible it's going to be. >> yeah. pretty impressive. the mini version of the expo will now become part of a private collection. well, coming up, chris alvarez joins us with a preview of sports, including highlights from the nfl playoffs. plus, the woman you could call taylor's taylor and the piece of clothing getting

statewide emergency following deadly ice storms there in new york. dramatic video shows a car , yeah, trying to pass a semi truck before crashing into a snowplow. the good news no one was injured and in michigan, a dog came to the rescue after his owner fell through the ice. i mean, we're getting away with it mildly in comparison. >> we are indeed in comparison. this is mild weather here in the bay area because there is a bitterly cold weather in other parts of the country. snow and whiteout conditions. no we don't have that here. >> yeah, and this is pretty normal for this time of year. >> it is to get rain like this. this is our what used to be normal. yeah. right. right maybe in some of our recent years this wasn't happening. so. but this is the norm. here's a look at what's happening right now. and

live doppler seven the norm. we've got green showing up all over the screen. so we have fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall. we have some little pockets of steadier rain right now mainly over in the east bay out near walnut creek to pleasanton, uh- not pleasanton, but pleasant hill. we've got some steadier rainfall right now over in the oakland, berkeley area. we've got some steady rain as well. a little bit farther south around union city, uh- is wet over in the east bay right now is going to be wetter over the entire region as the night wears on, because we've got wave after wave of rainfall coming in and some of these waves are going to be more widespread and they're going to be heavier later tonight. now it's gusty near the coastline right now, but the winds are fairly tame in other parts of the bay area. at this moment. current temperature readings are 56 degrees here in san francisco. also mid to upper 50s in oakland, hayward, san jose, san mateo and half moon bay. looking along the bay bridge from emeryville, things look a little quiet there right now, but maybe not for long. 52 degrees right now at both santa rosa and petaluma. petaluma and mid 50s at napa, fairfield and

concord. and these are our forecast headlines. it will be rainy and breezy to gusty throughout the night hours and overnight hours as well. stronger storm comes in late tomorrow late sunday into monday bringing more downpours and a chance of some thunder and the potential impact from all of this is that we'll have flooding on creeks and streams and rivers , and maybe even some downed trees and outages of isolated power outages. here's our forecast storm impact scale, showing that this is a level two storm. and for tonight and overnight periods, we expect more widespread rain, gusty winds in the hills, a slight chance of thunder, and some of these rains could be really drenching. forecast information starting at 630 shows a fairly quiet pattern, but it gets a little bit more widespread and more intense between 630 and 930. after 930, the rain gets even heavier, and between midnight and about 4 a.m, we're going to get some of our heaviest rainfall before the system starts to weaken a little bit in the wee hours of the morning. overnight rainfall estimates, um, maybe up to about

2/10 of an inch south of the golden gate for most areas in the east bay, the peninsula and south bay. but up in the north bay it will be much wetter with many locations receiving over an inch of rain. and we have a winter storm warning in effect for the western slopes of the sierra until 10 p.m. monday. heavy wet snow will expect 8 to 16in of snow between about 6000 and 7000ft, but above 7000ft we could see 1 to 3ft of snow and gusts up to 45mph back to the bay area. overnight lows will be mainly in the low 50s, so relatively mild. this is not a cold storm coming through tonight. tomorrow's highs in the low 60s. so again a fairly mild storm. here's the in terms of temperatures. here's the accuweather seven day forecast level two storms on sunday late sunday and on monday. then on tuesday and wednesday lighter rain. so level one storms those two days. finally we start to get a little bit of drying out. thursday or friday and notice how mild it's going to be going into next weekend. high temperatures will be climbing

finally, now it is day two of a wish. come true for big san jose sharks fan in the south bay. 12 year old addison kypreos and her family will be at the sap center for tonight's sharks game. addison is living with a rare health disorder, and the organization shadow jumpers helps families that are dealing with the illness. now, when they discovered addison was a huge sharks fan, they connected her with the team, who then invited her to join them at practice yesterday. she even got a custom hockey stick, a locker room tour and tonight she gets to see her first nhl game in person. the sharks take on the anaheim ducks at 7 p.m. in san jose. look at the attention to detail. the jersey, the stick, and now the game. wow, look at that. all smiles and hugs around. and yeah, it's nice to see community coming together like that. >> it really is great for her, great for the team, great for the community. >> yeah. let's hope for a 40 niners win. that would be great too. >> that would be fantastic. >> all right well thanks for
