nine starts right now. >> building a better bay area moving forward. finding solutions. this is abc seven news, a deputy shot. >> and in the hospital. and still the search for the armed and dangerous person who pulled the trigger. good evening. >> i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. thanks for joining us. it's the search continues hours after an alameda county sheriff's deputy was shot while serving an eviction notice. we're told the injuries are not life threatening, and that's the good news. but still, a large showing of fellow officers at eden medical center in castro valley. >> that's about ten miles from the shooting scene on dow avenue off alvarado-niles road in union city. and that's where abc seven news reporter lauren martinez is right now. she joins us live. and lauren, what's it like there ? >> well, ama and dan officers are still out here. we can hear a helicopter above, and i can tell you within the last 30 minutes, we've heard at least three flashbangs. we're in a very commercial area with warehouses and office buildings. you're looking down dow avenue

behind me, where there are some officers and their lights on right now, authorities say they're searching for the suspect. they know he's in this area and they consider him armed and dangerous. we know this all started around 130 this afternoon. authorities say an alameda county sheriff's deputy was shot while serving an eviction notice. unclear from the sheriff's office if that eviction notice was given at a business or a residence. the deputy was taken to eden medical center with critical but non-life threatening injuries. authorities are not releasing the deputy's identity at this time. we spoke with a delivery truck driver from arizona who was sitting in his truck when he heard the gunshots. he quickly stepped out to see what was going on and saw the injured officer there. >> we're watching on the corner across from sprouts, and then they told us we had to move back. so we moved by my truck. then they came back and told us, no, you need to go back further. so we moved back. the hammers came and picked him up across

the street between the two buildings. of these until calm and then swat saw come in >> nearly eight hours later, taylor is still waiting to go back to his truck again. officers have this area inaccessible, captain modesto with the alameda county sheriff's office, says anytime something like this happens when an officer is shot and injured, it shakes the agency, she said. obviously, the job is dangerous, but they're just grateful that the officer gets to go home to his family tonight. live in union city lauren martinez, abc seven news. lauren thank you so much. >> the last time a police officer was shot in the bay area was at the end of last year. tunnel was responding to a break in at a marijuana business on in oakland on december 29th. he was working undercover at the time and was shot and killed as the suspects tried to get away. a total of four people were arrested, three of them are charged with murder. lay had been with the oakland police department for four years. he's quite a scene this afternoon in

san francisco, where a maserati collided with a muni bus. >> this happened near third and bryant streets. you can see the cars really pretty smashed up. there was reportedly a second crash at third and stillman. we've not heard whether anyone was hurt or what caused this collision. we have reached out to both san francisco police and the sfmta for more information. we are still waiting to hear back as far as exactly what happened. >> all right. we did have more wet weather today. >> we did really came down for a while, but it's the last we'll see for a few days. abc seven news meteorologist andy patel has a first look at the forecast. andy. yeah and dan. >> and let's take a look at live doppler seven right now. we still have some areas that are dealing with the wet weather. i'm going to get you in closer to street level radar. in the last hour hayward and concord were both reporting rain. as we get you in a little bit closer here, hayward boulevard, foothill boulevard across 680 into pleasanton. we are seeing some showers. also some light to moderate showers across 580 heading out towards the altamont

. so we're going to widen the picture here. show you the bigger story here. the system did come in this morning and it brought some brief heavy rain. it is long moved out, but all the low level moisture is resulting in some drizzle and some spotty showers. still. so expect that at 10 p.m. tonight, even at 1030. and then this all winds down. tomorrow morning we begin with fog. it's a level one still on our storm impact scale. spotty showers, some damp roadways, areas of low visibility, and certainly slick out there on the golden gate bridge. as you can see right now, here's a look at your 12 hour forecast tomorrow at 8 a.m. areas of dense fog at noontime, mainly sunny 4 p.m. starts becoming partly cloudy again, and by 8 p.m. the skies will cloud up even more. it is going to get cooler and we do have the possibility of rain as we head towards the weekend. i'll be back with a closer look at that. coming right up. >> all right, sandy, thanks a lot. abc seven news has obtained surveillance video showing a kidnaped two year old child as he was abandoned in san leandro

not long after a carjacking in oakland. it all started on 85th avenue near g street, which is not far from the coliseum complex. abc seven news reporter luz pena retry lost the timeline and how his family's persistence and injuries led law enforcement more than 30 miles away to make an arrest. she has video you'll see only on abc seven news this shocking video shows the moment a suspect driving a stolen vehicle suddenly stops with a two year old boy in his lap, carries him out of the car, leaves the boy and drives off. >> the two year old boy is left wandering alone less than a minute later, a bus driver stops and calls for help. >> he found the child and the police had a vehicle that pulled over and dropped the child off, and then fled to black mode. juvenile. about two years old. people in the area begin to come out of their businesses to help the two year old. >> it just happened just right outside my front door right

there. these things happen. don't really surprise me anymore because it's just crime is on a upswing. this is the emotional moment when the boy was reunited with his mom. >> he had been in the back seat of their vehicle when the car was stolen outside their home in oakland. we pieced together how the boy was found in san leandro , four miles from home. turns out a police officer in san leandro had been listening to the oakland police radio. i heard that oakland was investigating a stolen vehicle that may have involved a child being taken with it. >> so once our officers were made able to make that connection, we notified opd that we had a infant found. >> police officers arrived on scene and confirmed the two year old was the same boy who had been kidnaped in the stolen vehicle. >> it's a great feeling, i think for all the officers involved who were able to reunite the child with their family members, it's always, you know, great to be able to bring about a happy ending for a kid. >> as a mother held her two year

old, she gave police a key tool to go after the suspect in her car. she left her iphone and airpods key devices in this search. >> her cell phone as well as her airpods were still inside of her vehicle, so she was fortunate enough that she was able to get a friend's phone and utilize the find my iphone application and luckily, the two year old child was dropped off and they were able to be reunited. >> the mother tracked her phone miles away from san leandro. her car was all the way in marin county at a mcdonald's parking lot. >> the mother was able to give us continuous updates. um, at one point showing that the devices appear to be uh- on tiburon boulevard. our sheriff's deputies responded and located the vehicle unoccupied in the mcdonald's parking lot. the security camera footage showed a male and a female exit the stolen vehicle and then leave, going northbound behind mcdonald's. >> the car was recovered and now tiburon police and marin county

deputies were set on finding the suspect. >> plainclothes detectives, along with tiburon pd uh, were able to look in the area and found two subjects sitting at a bus stop, uh, near rock hill road on tiburon boulevard. back in oakland, the mother and her two year old son are recovering while thankful that even though her son was kidnaped, strangers and officers throughout the bay area made sure he came home. >> we don't operate on an island . we're not isolated. we utilize the help of other agencies, and we often extend our help as well. >> in san leandro, luz pena, abc seven news. officials in santa clara county met today to deal with a growing drug crisis. >> while fentanyl is grabbing all the headlines, health experts warn of other illegal drugs on the rise. officials say the crisis needs an all hands on deck approach. >> we are constantly, constantly a step or two behind, behind the market, behind the deaths,

behind the manufacturers and behind the sellers. san jose's mayor says treatment needs to be more accessible. >> officials also touted california's proposition one, a $6.4 billion bond to finance treatment beds and housing units for people with mental illness and addiction. if you or someone you know is struggling with drug addiction or opioid use, help is available. you can find a list of local resources on our website. abc seven news.com slash. take action on. after nearly a month of confusion and delay, demolition on a los altos shopping mall that burned down christmas day is now underway. the closure has caused issues for nearby businesses and commuters, but as abc seven news south bay reporter dustin dorsey explains, the sound of excavate others hopefully means a return to normalcy is coming soon. >> clean up from a christmas fire now underway in los altos. this building along el camino real went up in flames on december 25th. now almost a month later to the day, demolition on the 22,000 square foot building has started.

>> as you can see, the roof has collapsed, so that collapse might might cause more collapse. and so we're going to dismantle this building from the top down and then that'll allow a safe environment with the hopefully no overhead obstructions for the firefighters and investigators to complete that investigation. >> the community has been anxiously awaiting this process to begin the aftermath of the fire has created issues on the road with traffic blocked on el camino for a month, residents are happy to see the reopening, getting closer. >> i almost have ran into people a couple times. rear ended them because it's not. it's not a u-turn lane. it's just an open section in the road. they're making illegal u-turns there, so it's kind of a traffic, uh, problem. >> i think it helps if nothing else, for like, traffic on el camino is already bad enough, so it'll definitely kind of improve things there. >> it's also caused headaches for nearby businesses like chef shoes and armadillo willy's as well. much of the parking lot has been closed, leading to a dip in business for these restaurants. demolition is a long time coming. >> it could have been months, so we're happy and hopefully they're going to tear down the section where el camino will be

reopened again and we'll have some smooth traffic going through it, getting more customers in here after the origin and cause of the fire is determined by investigators, the city will complete the full demolition of the building. >> but when that happens and when the road reopens is still unclear, everyone hopes it's sooner rather than later. >> obviously, we've had less of a struggle than the people who have businesses in the building, and we empathize with them, but we still have our struggles. you know, even with being open, once it's down, hopefully, hopefully, fingers crossed, it'll, um, open up. so our businesses can sort of get back to normal in los altos. >> dustin dawsey abc seven news how many people are actually homeless in the bay area? >> you have to count to find out. precisely. that's what's happening right now. coming up, why getting an accurate number makes such a big difference. >> and coming up at 930, the i-team digs into a disturbing trend on california roads. why are so many pedestrians dying at

on in contra costa county. >> this is a really important count because this count really drives a lot of the significant funding that comes in to serve this population. >> anna roth is the chief executive officer for contra costa health. on wednesday, 200 volunteers went out to count the number of homeless and unhoused living in the county, called the point in time count. this one day head count is the figure that counties across the u.s. will use to secure local, state and federal funding, such as from the department of housing and urban development or hud. you name it. >> hud has one grant or another,

um, that supports us, and we have a little over 20 or about $20 million that we get in hud funding. and again, that is all based on this number. >> those millions of dollars are not just to help those on the streets, but to operate a wide range of services such as homeless shelters like this one in concord. that's where danny has been living for the past seven months. i have my own space and you know i can't go out in the morning. >> whatever. find a job, work and come back right now in contra costa, we have about a 2% vacancy rate in all of our housing that's affordable or above market rate. >> so that just shows you we need more housing. and days like this will help us bring those dollars in. >> according to data from hud from the past 15 years, contra costa county has seen an overall decline in the number of homeless. more than 4000 people in 2008, just over 3000. in 2022, and then down to 2300 in

2023. but christy saxton, director of health housing and homeless services, says this one day figure is often an undercount. of the total number of people they serve annually. >> last year, we touched over 10,000 people, um, and so that's a far cry. larger than the about 3000 that you count on. you know , one day a year. >> the county says a more accurate count will also help with future planning. final count is due to hud in april. in concord, anser hassan. abc seven news. >> now, every county conducts a point in time count of their homeless population. tomorrow san mateo county and alameda county will take theirs. san francisco is scheduled next week. the new san jose downtown food hall opened today. >> the restaurant co-op replaces the city's historic oddfellows building, located in the heart of downtown on east santa clara street. customers can order from up to 26 different restaurants online or via a kiosk inside the

where this is. it's a main thoroughfare. you're going to be dealing with some showers still. also out towards the altamont pass. altamont pass road. they're light to moderate showers. and in the north bay santa rosa area has reported some light rain. we also have a few sprinkles right around boyes hot springs, petaluma, old adobe roads, so we widen the picture here and i'm going to show you what happened this morning. we did get some moderate to brief heavy rain this morning during that commute. if you were commuting you know exactly what i'm talking about. but that is long gone now. it's just residual moisture, low level moisture and we're still seeing some drizzle and some spotty showers in the sierra. it has been a mix of rain and snow. snow levels are extremely high with this system. taking a look at the rainfall so far, here is what we have gotten 6/10 of an inch there in venado 5300. santa rosa 7000/900 in kentfield about a half an inch out towards oakland, 3900 in fairfield 59

san francisco. not bad. san jose 4800 and up to 6000/500. in fremont. now this was not the storm of the century. it didn't do any damage, but certainly has helped us. it's been beneficial. rain. so now we take a look at the january surplus. four of the cities were over an inch above where we typically are in terms of our average rainfall. so this is encouraging. but that doesn't mean that things can't go the other way. and we go back to a drier pattern and then back to wet. but i will tell you this much, we have more rain in the forecast. that is encouraging. here's a look at a view from san jose camera where all is quiet 58 degrees in san jose, mid 50s san francisco, oakland and half moon bay. at this hour, the live view from our oakland airport camera right now and temperatures are in the low to mid 50s. from san rosa to napa. concord 5556, in livermore along the embarcadero. not much of a breeze. here's a look at the headlines tonight. a few showers or drizzle in the morning. areas

of dense fog is what you'll need to watch out for, and tomorrow through friday, it's going to be dry for most areas, and i say most because the north bay will be the exception. so let's talk about our current storm impact scale. it's a light level one system, spotty light showers, some damp roads and areas of low visibility is what you can expect. just a couple more hours as you can see here. and then really the concern tomorrow morning is going to be the fog. and then you'll see plenty of sun during the day. by evening, the clouds begin to increase again ahead of another system coming in. temperatures in the 40s for all of the bay area. first thing in the morning, you will need to bundle up and give yourself that extra time, as visibility will be low in parts of the region. now, temperatures tomorrow afternoon will come up a few degrees mid 50s to the low 60s. so it should be a pretty nice looking day. you'll see plenty of sun and just as you're getting used to that idea, we're going to bump up those temperatures sunday. some areas in the low 70s. now this computer model is actually hinting at mid 70s in the south

bay. stay tuned because the models tend to get very excited. and then as we get closer, they sort of back off. uh- monday still looking at mild weather with 60s and 70s across the region. here's a look at the nfc championship game forecast. niners take on the lions sunday at levi's stadium, and they couldn't ask for better weather. i mean it's going to be 72 degrees at kickoff. warm with sunshine. fourth quarter still mild and mainly clear temperature of 63 degrees. so they'll be playing under different circumstances than the last game last weekend. here's a look at the futurecast friday night. north bay has the opportunity for seeing rain saturday morning. it's going to be in the north bay and then the storms stay well to our north until next wednesday. looks like a strong storm with a potential for an atmospheric river wind as well. stay tuned. the accuweather seven day forecast. morning fog a dry day tomorrow. mostly cloudy on friday. could see a few showers up north and then saturday is the north bay showers. spring like weather for

leaders as a disturbing trend is threatening our roadways. >> we're not talking about near hits. we're talking about fatalities. we're talking about pedestrians and bikers who are being killed because they're in a public space. a quarter of california's fatalities are pedestrians. >> that's according to federal data through 2021. and that same data analyzed by the i-team shows that trend has worsened over the past decade. for example, in 2012, there were 653 fatalities that jumped to more than 1100 in 2021, same story across the u.s. we are seeing nationally, pedestrian deaths are the highest they've been since 1981. >> that's kind of crazy because our vehicles are safer. we've made a lot of improvements in technology, but yet we're killing more, more people just because they're going out for a walk. jonathan adkins is the ceo of the governor's highway safety association. >> he says all of these crashes are preventable, but we want to have our infrastructure such that it allows for mistakes to

happen. >> a mistake shouldn't kill you. i'm building an infrastructure where there's safe places to cross. >> but this san mateo family had a safe place to cross. yet this young girl nearly got hit by a speeding suv who failed to stop. video captured in september of 2022. since then, a new law passed allowing six california cities to pilot speed cameras in san francisco, for example, there will be 33 installed this year to slow drivers down. data shows a vehicle going 42mph has a five fold higher probability of killing a pedestrian. it hits than if it were going 25mph in november of 2021, alameda county supervisor wilma chan was killed after being struck by a car while walking her dog. the city later identified that intersection as a high injury intersection. our goal is zero deaths and severe injuries, according to data analyzed by the abc seven news i-team, alameda county is ranked one of

the worst in the bay area for pedestrian fatalities, with 28 lives lost. more than a third of overall traffic deaths in 2021. the other top five counties reporting the most pedestrian fatalities that year are santa clara, with 35, contra costa with 20 and san francisco with 15. and that's the highest it's been since 2018. so what's being done about it? >> california has never prioritized pedestrian safety. >> state senator anthony portantino wanted to change that . a year after chan's death, the governor signed his bill, sb 932, into law. it requires a county or city to identify high injury streets and intersections. in its general plan, and prioritize safety improvements to reduce collisions by 2025. we just need to, you know, hold cities more accountable to. case in point, the city of alameda launched the vision zero action plan, an effort to try and eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries by 2035. >> just over two years. we have

of the safety improvements have been installed at over 130 intersections throughout the city. >> some of the enhancements include new lighting, upgraded crosswalk markings, and new programed pedestrian intervals at 68 intersections that allow pedestrians to get a few second head start on a green light before vehicles in the last couple of years, about three quarters of our police department's traffic enforcement stops occurred on high injury corridors. the i-team reviewed the city's plan and found dozens of intersections labeled high injury for pedestrians, many of which are near hospitals, schools and parks. >> we've put a lot of effort into enforcement as state senator portentino points out, enhanced awareness leads to more accountability. >> our analysis found 21% of these fatalities happen during the day, but an overwhelming 79% happened during the night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for the i-team. stephanie sierra, abc seven news. >> and if you have a story for the i-team, you can call this

number on your screen or go to abc seven news.com slash i-team. another item about safety on the roads, a california lawmaker wants to slow speeders down with a controversial proposal that is sure to rile up drivers. >> the bill by state senator scott wiener would require speed limiters, governors on vehicles sold or manufactured in california. the technology would physically prevent a vehicle from being driven more than ten miles an hour over the posted speed limit. it would apply in both city streets and highways. wiener says the bill is not government overreach. >> when the federal government started mandating seatbelts, there were people who said, that's an overreach. you're invading my freedom. i think we understand now that without that, seatbelts have saved countless, countless lives. >> last year, the national transportation safety board recommended speed limits be installed on all vehicles. the devices are already required in the european union, united airlines says it's been given final approval to return its fleet of 737 max nine planes to

pouring out of the car. >> developing news in southern california, where six people have been found dead in the mojave desert. the bodies were discovered near el mirage, which is in a remote part of san bernardino county. one look at some of the disturbing video, and it's very clear that whatever happened in the desert was very sinister. reporter rob mcmillan, with our sister station in los angeles, has more on the investigation. >> a horrific crime scene in the middle of the desert. seven bodies found on this dirtrillionoad near el mirage, along with two abandoned vehicles, at least one of them riddled with bullet holes. three of the bodies charred as if someone tried to set them on

fire to conceal the crime. the call coming in to san bernardino county sheriff's dispatch around 815 last night. not to report a crime. the caller, simply asking for a welfare check off highway 395, in the middle of the desert. >> this is a very remote desert area and for that reason, um, chp aviation division accompanied us to the call. that's when in near total darkness, deputies made the horrifying discovery. >> five bodies found alongside two vehicles on the dirtrillionoad. by the time the sun came up, they discovered another body hundreds of yards away. >> a sixth decedent was located at the scene, so we have a total of six at this point, detectives have not said whether the bodies were those of men or women, nor have they said about how old they were. >> and despite this bullet riddled vehicle, they also aren't saying anything about how they all might have died. >> we have not confirmed any cause or manner of death or any

gunshot wounds or anything other than anything like that. it's going to be heartbreaking no matter what the situation is, what they discover out there as far as the circumstances surrounding it. um, so our investigators will continue to do their best to wrap this up quickly and get all the information possible to bring justice to those folks out there . >> rob mcmillan, abc seven news university of california. >> students from around the state gathered in san francisco today to make their voices heard in a pro-palestinian protest. outside them all ten uc board of regents meeting in mission bay. they claimed the university system is using their tuition money to fund genocide in gaza. protesters also say students who've tried to meet with administrators have discussed to discuss this have been denied. >> whenever we have tried voicing our concerns on our individual campuses, it has not been met with respect. we have not been heard. and so we have been kind of pushed into this point where we have to come here

in hopes that somebody will listen to our concerns about our safety. >> the group is calling on the board of regents to divest from any company that's funding genocide. we reached out to uc for a response, but have not heard back. another pro-palestinian protest happened today in san leandro. hundreds of health care workers rallied outside a company called l3 harris, which contracts with the us department of defense. protesters say l3 harris creates some of the technology for bombs that are being dropped on gaza hospitals. one ucsf doctor at the rally says it's personal for him because he spent 25 years working in gaza. >> when those bombs are dropping on gaza hospitals, those are the hospitals that i've been in. those are the hospitals that i've seen people in. those are the hospitals where my colleagues have worked and lived and are now dead. >> he went on to say protesters want to see l3 harris, charged with war crimes for violating the leahy act that says it's illegal for us companies to engage in activities that

on. we'll turn now to the latest in the race for the white house. president biden picked up a big endorsement today as nikki haley vows to keep fighting donald trump for the republican nomination, despite losses in new hampshire and iowa. abc news reporter tim pulliam has the latest. >> it's a great day in south carolina after losing in iowa and coming in second in the new hampshire, first in the nation primary, former south carolina governor nikki haley, back in her home state wednesday night, refused to call it quits. >> so we are not going to sit there and just give up. >> we're going to sit there and we're going to fight because america does deserve better than what they have in these two options. and we're going to give it to them. >> haley bashing her gop rival and previous boss, former president donald trump. but trump's victory in new hampshire , raising concerns among major donors if haley has a path forward. abc news has learned reid hoffman, a democrat and billionaire co-founder of linkedin, is removing support

is coming to light in san francisco is debating how to pay the tab. >> supervisors are considering taking millions out of the general fund to cover some of the costs. abc seven news insider phil matier joined us for getting answers today to explain the city's predicament of paying up. >> now the tab is coming due for all that police presence we see, or at least part of it. i have to tell you, it's a $6.5 million for police overtime. and as you point out, that money is initially coming out of the general fund. now the hope and the plan is that it's going to be replenished by that 20 part of that $20 million that the mayor collected from business leaders and such in order to host the event. >> the city is also considering covering some of the cost with surplus money from san francisco's apec reserves. that plan faces pushback from some businesses who say they lost money during the summit and want to be reimbursed from that reserve fund. and you can watch interviews like that one every weekday. getting answers airs at 3 p.m. here on abc seven and wherever you stream. >> all right, let's get back and update the forecast.

>> when the next batch of rain is going to arrive. >> yes, meteorologist sanjay patel has that for us. sandhya. yeah. >> dan and omar. right now on live doppler seven. we have some really spotty light showers or drizzle showing up. not everyone is going to need those umbrellas tonight, but certainlyome people, like in the north bay. as you will notice from fairfax to woodacre, larkspur street level radar showing you a few lightrillionain turns. some showers still in fremont, paseo padre parkway and as we widen the picture here, that storm system is a level one. still, even though the main energy, the main system has passed, we still are dealing with a lot of rain, all low level moisture. so some scattered showers still in the forecast. 930 tonight. you can see them very spotty at 11 p.m. an isolated shower in the southern part of our viewing area tomorrow morning begins with the fog and on our storm impact scale. this is still a level one for tonight. some damp roadways with those spotty showers areas of low visibility. speaking of, look at the visibility in half moon bay

right now. it's a half a mile, six miles in byron. certainly fog is forming tomorrow afternoon. it should be a nice day with plenty of sun. 58 in the city, 60 in oakland, san rafael, palo alto, antioch, 61, santa rosa, 62 degrees in san jose. now, i want to show you what's going to happen with that fog. it dissipates by late morning at 11 a.mstill a little bit of fog out towards the delta, but the fog gets replaced by plenty of sun. and then after that we get an increase in cloud cover. tomorrow night, friday morning could be a few showers in the north bay. friday night into saturday morning. the north bay still has that opportunity for seeing wet weather, so the rainfall projections for the north bay a few hundredths to perhaps 2000/900 of an inch. there in ukiah. here's your accuweather seven day forecast. it's morning fog giving way to a dry thursday. mainly cloudy and milder as we head towards friday. saturday we're going to bring in spring like conditions for the nfc championship game. low 70s, mid 60s, coast side and

monday. we'll still have plenty of sun before things cloud up, and by wednesday storm arrives. it's a level two right now, so dan and emma stay tuned. it's going to be accompanied by wind and potentially an atmospheric river. >> okay. thanks, sandhya. >> a critical resource around the globe is shrinking. scientists found 71% of the world's groundwater reserves declined between 2000 and 2022. that's according to a study published today in the journal nature. the reductions could be caused by general use or changes in rainfall, which of course may be linked to climate change, scientists are encouraging all of us to try to be mindful of how much we use water. mercury, retrograde will happen three times in 2024. during retrograde, the planet appears to be traveling backwards across the sky. it's an optical illusion. of course, some people believe when mercury is in retrograde, it can cause confusion and for things to go, not go quite as planned, like a

trip or an important meeting. retrograde will occur on april 1st through april 24th. august 5th through august 27th and november 25th through to december 15th. >> the stormy weather here in california is creating lasting problems for people. reporter alex cheney from our sister station in los angeles, shows you the challenges in rancho palos verde's the hills of rancho palos verdes are now starting to slide even faster than before. >> for sherri hastings lives in the bluffs above abalone canyon, and within the last few weeks, cracks have started to form all over her property. >> i saw a small crack and over the week it expanded to about two inches. and that was early january. and now it's what it is here. >> in late january, the land movement broke. her water main cracked concrete walls and created a fissure in the ground underneath one of her horse stables. geologists think heavy rain since last winter have saturated the ground and accelerated the slide. >> the rate of movement changed from hundredths of an inch per

and knew it was time for her and dad, landon to head to the hospital. quickly. that was on sunday and icy road conditions in tulsa, oklahoma slowed them down. as you can imagine, robin knew they wouldn't make it to the hospital in time, so landon pulled into a quick stop gas station and called 911. the operator walked landon and robin through the whole birth wife and i both tag teamed it. >> she was able to help me a little bit as i was holding the had my fingers in between the neck and the cord and got it. baby was breathing fine, crying
