starts right now. >> building a better bay area moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc seven news. let's go. we got this game . >> who? >> taming the lion. the stakes are high at levi's stadium right now. as the 40 niners try to fend off detroit for the nfc championship title on the line, a trip to the super bowl with that, we say. good evening and thanks for joining us, everybody. i'm dionne lim. the top seeded 40 niners have the home field advantage against detroit. the winner of tonight's game will take on the kansas city chiefs in the super bowl in las vegas on february 11th. the niners fans were fired up for today's matchup well before kickoff. red and gold just filled the parking lot at levi's stadium hours before the gates opened, with temperatures in the 70s, 40 niners faithful have been tailgating all afternoon. we came across some dance parties in the parking lot. as you can see, no surprise here. niners fans we talked with are

all predicting a big victory. we stack offense and defense. >> we all the way stacked. >> i'll tell you, there's i sense and i feel some confidence here. >> there's always confidence like we're the niners. we're in the championships. we're in the playoffs year. and year in and year out. >> is there anything that worries you about today? >> not there's no rain so we're good. >> it's 70 degrees in california . i'm not worried. >> there'll be a lot of confidence in this parking lot. i don't know if it's liquid confidence or if it's a game. >> whatever kind of confidence you got, liquid or solid confidence, it's all confidence. >> tickets were in hot demand for the game. we spoke with one couple from michigan who told us they paid $1,100 a ticket and that did not include their airfare to get here. now, while fans are watching the field, police say they will be watching the fans. santa clara pd posted a warning on x saying they will not tolerate offensive, profane or threatening behavior in the

stands and it may even lead to ejection or arrest. and they are also getting into the game as well. not taking sides though the department posted this photo of police chief patrick niccolai in several uniforms, including the niners and i cannot believe it. the lions santa clara pd says it has plain clothes. officers in both teams jerseys on the lookout for that bad behavior. now 40 niner fans are gathering in all points of the bay area to cheer on the team. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard is live for us in san francisco at one official watch party, the only thing we got to say is go, niners, cornell. >> absolutely. go, niners. niners are trailing the lions in the second quarter. i do believe that means rally towels are in the air. all over the place. working very hard at this watch party here at momo's in san francisco. the 40 niners faithful are inside and outside.

london and mexico city also cheering on the red and gold. earlier we found one detroit lions fan inside feeling a bit outnumbered. obviously but hopeful that his team will win. we'll see about that. it is still early. we're live in san francisco. cornell, bernard, go, niners abc seven news. >> yeah, you got that right. fingers crossed. we shall see what happens. cornell thank you. well, happening tonight. multiple freeway off ramps along 101 and i-280 in san francisco. will be closed in an effort to control crowds after the game. this map here shows the specific location. there's a total of six off ramps will be shut down from 7:00 until midnight, and more street closures to tell y about in the mission district. the city says the streets you see outlined here may be shut down from 530 to 10, or until the streets clear. the areas between 24th street between potrero and valencia, and mission streetetween cesar chavez and 21st. those closures are in anticipation of possible

street celebrations by the 40 niners fans. and game day is looking pretty. great when it comes to the weather. as we take a live look outside at the airport. abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian joining us now with a look at our what unseasonably high temperatures out there beyond the unseasonable warmth that we expected, did arrive. >> it was around 7172 degrees in santa clara at kickoff time, but temperatures are beginning to drop a little bit right now. here's a look at the 24 hour temperature change. it's a 2 to 5 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time across most of the bay area. nonetheless yes, no record highs have been reached so far. and now, as temperatures are beginning to drop, a little bit, we're not likely to see any records. however, it's quite mild. 68 degrees in santa rosa, right now, which is three degrees lower than the record high for the date of 71. napa 65 degrees. also much lower than his record high for this date. 71 degrees. um san jose was the closest to a record. the record high for this date in san jose is 72. it did get up to 71

earlier, but as you can see now, all locations are seeing a slight cool down. and as we get later into the evening watching the satellite radar composite image, you can see a few clouds moving in our direction. and of course it's going to get cooler. so no records today. but hey, there's always tomorrow. i'll have the accuweather seven day forecast a little bit later. dion yeah, we shall see. >> all right spencer thank you. well moving on family members and friends continue to push for justice after the deadly assault of an elderly san francisco man today, members of the justice for visha ratna party foundation held a memorial in the victim's honor at the asian art museum in san francisco, two today will mark three years since he was fatally knocked to the ground outside his home in the anza vista neighborhood. that attack was captured on video. today's event also included a panel discussion about combating violence against asian americans, not only do we want to know that attacks have happened, but we want to know what happened after, why do some of these prosecutions take so long? one year old daly city man

is charged with killing the elderly immigrant from thailand, but family members and supporters have grown frustrated as the case has stalled in court despite demands from the victim's family. the case was not charged as a racially motivated hate crime. all of the remaining prosecutors, whom the alameda district attorney put on leave a year ago, are now back on the job, it was confirmed yesterday that the last of seven who were placed on administrative leave have returned. da pamela price sidelined, the prosecutors a few weeks after she took office last january. price said, placing them on leave was to undo the quote, hot mess left by her predecessor for a little selam amid nasala in an act of unity and solidarity active artists held a vigil for peace in the middle east at san francisco's embarcadero plaza. different groups came together to call for a cease fire and end to u.s. military aid, as well as to

to have a tough day last night in the east, and we shall respond. >> the identity of the service members have not been released. this marks the first time us troops have been killed by enemy fire in the middle east since the start of the war in gaza. meantime rite aid will close 16 stores in california, including one in the bay area. the rite aid, located at marietta boulevard in livermore, is planning to shut down last october. the pharmacy and retailer filed chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced it would close nearly 200 locations means the closures are a part of a restructuring plan to help the retailer recover. there is uncertainty over a law banning guns in public places in california. coming up, a local sheriff talks about what's next for the department as the future of the law hangs in the balance. >> i'm spencer christian, big warm up today. no record highs were set, but there is always tomorrow. there's a chance i'll

under the law, guns are banned in 26 places, including playgrounds, roads, public transit, stadiums, amusement parks and more. the law was blocked and reinstated and then blocked again earlier this month , and the ongoing legal battle continues. san francisco sheriff paul miyamoto spoke with abc seven about what this means for the city and the state. >> right now, we're waiting for a decision from the courts sometime in june or july. until that time, though, the law is not in effect and we are just going about business as usual. conceal carry weapons permits issued in california now require

to the south bay tomorrow. the council on american islamic relations and other groups will gather at mexican heritage plaza in san jose tomorrow morning to demand a permanent ceasefire in the israeli-hamas conflict. harris is in san jose for her fight for reproductive freedoms tour. the event highlights how states like california have worked to protect reproductive rights since the overturning of roe v wade. all right. turning back to the weather where we are. gosh, i saw so many shorts and so many short sleeves today. having some unseasonably warm weather was that kind of a day? >> we may have another one just like it tomorrow, but then things are going to change. here's a look at what's happening right now on our satellite radar composite image. we still have mainly clear skies, sunny skies, a few high thin clouds are moving through the area right now, and you see the little flecks of green there indicating moisture in the atmosphere that is, of course, not hitting the ground right now. we have calm wind, wind speeds under ten miles per hour all across the bay area, and we've got this 24 hour temperature change. that's

pretty impressive 2 to 5 degrees warmer in virtually all bay area locations than at this time yesterday. so let's take a look at current readings 66 here in san francisco right now oakland, 63 mid 60s at hayward. and san jose, and low 60s at san mateo and half moon bay. nice view of the western sky from emeryville. all the temperature readings at this hour. 68 up north at santa rosa, petaluma only 6165 at napa and concord, and low 60s at fairfield and livermore. and another nice view of the western sky. these are our forecast headlines. we'll have more spring like warmth tomorrow with increasing clouds on tuesday just ahead of a bit of rain that's coming in. so wednesday through friday, expect rainy and sharply cooler weather for the end of the week, but for tonight, we're looking at just a little bit of an increase in high clouds, which will disappear after about 10 p.m, giving us clear skies through the overnight hours and into tomorrow. so it will be a nice, beautiful, sunny and warmer than average day again tomorrow. overnight, low temperatures will be mainly in the upper 40s and our inland areas, and about 5051 degrees around the bay shoreline

and on the coast. and then tomorrow look for highs of 66 at half moon bay, 67 here in the city, oakland 69 and some other bay shore locations will warm up into the low 70s tomorrow. getting close to record territory. but not quite there. up in the north bay, we'll see 70 at napa, 72 at santa rosa, inland east bay, mainly upper 60s, but about 73 at livermore down in the south bay. san jose will top out at 76 degrees. now let's take a look at our future cast going through the midweek to see what kind of weather is coming our way. as i mentioned for tonight, just a few passing high clouds. but on tomorrow evening into tuesday we'll see clouds increase rather dramatically and by wednesday we'll have a fairly significant storm moving onshore, bringing us periods of heavy rain and downpours and some well, probably some localized. flooding in low lying areas because our ground is saturated from a recent rains. here's the accuweather seven day forecast on tuesday. as i mentioned, increasing clouds. wednesday, rainy and windy. a level two storm on the exclusive abc seven

storm impact scale. so that's a storm of moderate intensity. but once again, with already saturated soil, it could be problematic. the rain that will come on wednesday with showers following on thursday. a level one storm, more showers on friday, another level one storm. partly cloudy and dry. it's looking so far for next saturday, but there was a very good chance of more rain or showers next sunday, so we are in a wet and unsettled. as we like to say in the wonderful world of weather. >> and today feels wonderful, that's for sure. yeah, we do have wonderful weather. yeah. all right. spencer. thank you. okay. all right, let's get to chris alvarez now. joining us live
