bay. you could see a half mile in napa. we're at a quarter of a mile in santa rosa, three quarters of a mile in fairfield. so we are starting out with a little bit of fog in the north bay. elsewhere, we are having clear skies, and we do expect a lot of sunshine today. look at these numbers right now. we're in the mid 40s to the mid 50s, 53 in san rafael, but 46 in concord, a little bit cooler in our valleys, 51 in san jose. we're coming at 58 right now in cloverdale. coit tower lit up in niners red and gold. so here's a look at how your day shapes up. it is beautiful. if you liked yesterday today is equally as warm. we'll have those partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. but look at these temperatures mid 70s in some spots, upper 60s along the coast. it will feel quite nice out there with all that sunshine, but enjoy the warm weather today because changes are coming live. doppler seven along with satellite here comes our next storm system and it will bring rounds of heavy rain later on this week. we'll show you that coming up in a few minutes. let's check in with gloria and see how traffic's going. >> good morning drew. good morning everyone. so far, traffic is pretty light on this monday morning. this is live.

look outside right now at the bay bridge toll plaza. camera and you can see the traffic is flowing nicely there. no weights at the pay gates. and then a live look at our richmond-san rafael bridge camera. we still have that sig alert in effect there with the right three lanes blocked, but there are no backups to the toll plaza guys. >> thank you. gloria san francisco 40 niners, super bowl bound again. they are taking on the kansas city chiefs. and less than two weeks the san francisco skyline covered and red and gold overnight. >> here you see salesforce tower city hall the ferry building and coit tower all aglow in the red and gold that looks really great. the niners will now have the second most super bowl appearances of all time at eight. that's three behind the new england patriots. and if they manage to win super bowl 58, they'll be tied for the most super bowl titles in nfl history at six. >> we're going to start this morning with abc seven sports director larry beil, who was on the field with sports reporter chris alvarez as the niners locked in that nfc championship.

>> good morning everybody from levi's stadium. the 40 niners are going to the super bowl larry beil along with chris alvarez never in doubt right. never in doubt. maybe a little bit of doubt actually. the 40 niners got shredded by the lions in the first half of the nfc championship game. an epic second half saved their season and we're all going to vegas, baby. and that includes the goat. jerry rice who was on hand among the faithful. niners down 17 at the break. dominate the second half. brock purdy deep for brandon aiyuk and look at this ball. ricochet off the defender's helmet. and aiyuk with a presence of mind to grab it for a gain of 51. he actually thought he scored a touchdown, but he was touched down on the play. it's like the 2024 version of the catch. deebo samuel said. that was insane. aiyuk would score on a td pass from brock purdy a few seconds later, and the niners were down seven. very next play for detroit, tayshaun gibson strips jahmyr gibbs. niners recover just like that. they're back in business now. this defense got gashed in the

first half. gave up 280 yards. but they almost pitched a shutout in the second half. a few plays later after the fumble christian mccaffrey his second touchdown of the night, would tie it up. and then elijah mitchell took it in late a field goal as well. the niners hold on to win 3431. the epic comeback will send them to las vegas and the super bowl to play the chiefs. so what exactly was said in the locker room at halftime to spur that second half turnaround? >> it wasn't really much, said kyle. said a couple things, fred said a couple things, but we kept it simple and so went out. we all knew what we had to do. seasons on the line. we're down 17, so i think everybody stepped up and when we played really good complementary team football from there, you know, you just had to come out with our hair on fire. >> honestly, it was it was just do or die at that point, so to speak. and uh, honestly, they've been running the ball really well. shout out to their running backs. uh, but when their number is called, i just tried to make a play, man. got my hand on the ball, man, and was able to change the game, man. and it's

one fan told us they paid $1,100 for a ticket to last night's game, and i bet that they were thinking that it was a good value. there weren't just fireworks at levi's stadium. as you would expect, fans across the bay area celebrating the win. sky seven caught fireworks in the bay view. i could have pointed the camera outside of my window last night in the mission because there were lots of fireworks there. motorcycles doing wheelies and huge crowds in my neighborhood. as you can see, areas that were closed to traffic to prepare for these fans flooding the streets. multiple freeway off ramps in the city along 101 and i-280 were closed until midnight to help with crowd control. abc seven news reporter tara campbell has more, with the fans celebrating. >> 40 niners fans erupting sunday night from san francisco's financial district to the north beach neighborhood. it was fantastic. >> it was hard for the first half to watch. >> we actually were going to go home, but then we decided to

dick's sporting goods in daly city. we saw 40 niners fans wrapping around the building to get their hands on nfc championship merch in red and gray. this includes the same shirt players put on after winning the game, which said nfc champions 40 niners are all in. fans there said they knew they had to be the first to grab a t shirt. and you can just hear their excitement in that video. dick's usually sells super bowl bound merchandise on the same night of the win, people showed up and waited for the game. results. workers let people file in by smaller groups to manage this very happy, hyped up crowd. now some dick's sporting goods locations are opening up two hours early at 7:00 this morning, including dublin, san jose and daly city. and the team

we warm. our typical highs this time of the year are in the upper 50s. we're already reaching that by 10 a.m. this morning and then into the afternoon. it gets even warmer than that. so here's how your sky will look today. it is gorgeous day. enjoy the sunshine, the dry temperatures, bright conditions leading to partly cloudy skies throughout the afternoon. but it will be warm again some areas may set a few records. yesterday we had about 5 or 6 new records today. it's not out of the question. we could have a couple more records as temperatures once again go back into the 60s, and in the 70s, a high of 67. in the city today. but san jose, nice and warm for this time of the year, coming in at 76, 72, in fremont, 70, in napa, 69, in oakland, 72. the high in santa rosa. but then things begin to change for the weather. looking at our rain chances, they really ramp up here on wednesday, continuing into the day on thursday, and that's when we'll likely see rain heavy at times, along with some gusty winds. so we do bring in the storm impact scale mid

million individual tax returns will be filed this season. glory is at the live desk with some tips from a tax specialist. >> well, reggie, first of all, there are two important dates to remember. january 31st is the deadline for your employer to submit w-2 forms. april 15th is the deadline for you to file. experts say that you should file quickly and electronically because it is the fastest way to get a refund. they also say to pay close attention when filing. there were some big tax changes in 2023, including more incentives for green energy and ev credits. >> there were some inflationary adjustments, bigger standard deduction, higher earned income tax credit, lower tax rate brackets in a response to inflation. and then of course, at the end of the year, there were some green energy credits put into place. >> the volunteer income tax assistance program and aarp tax aid program are available, all to help you file your taxes. and

tuesday is a dry day, but you will notice a lot more cloud cover as our storm system gets a lot closer. but it's wednesday that the rain begins to move in here and it is going to be heavy at times. first wednesday morning it's heaviest in the north bay, and then this line of heavy rain will begin to progress south and east. so by wednesday night it is raining everywhere. and it could be heavy at times, along with some gusty winds. so here's the early call wednesday into thursday how it looks for rainfall right now. our coastal hills will take the brunt of the storm again. 4 to 7in of rain. very likely in the north bay. it does look very wet. 3 to 5in of rain and then the rest of the bay area about an inch to 2.5in. so we'll watch out for the potential of flooding and even some shallow landslides. it's just our soil so saturated right now that any little bit of rain is going to create problems. here's the accuweather 70 forecast. enjoy the warm and sunny weather today. rain is back here midweek, wednesday and thursday. it is a level two right now. some lingering showers on friday and then we'll dry out by saturday. gloria

deep sea vision recently searched across 5200mi■!s of the pacific ocean floor using an unmanned submersible. now in the final leg of the expedition, the team captured a sonar image of what looks like an object shaped like an airplane. they found it within 100 miles of howland island, near where earhart was believed to have gone down soon after refueling in new guinea. the company says they were not surprised to find the aircraft intact. they say, quote, we always felt that earhart would have made every attempt to land the aircraft gently on the water. the sonar image suggests that may be the case. sonar experts are giving credit ability to the image, saying it deserves closer inspection. the deep sea vision team plans to return to the same location to get better images. reggie. >> thanks, gloria. the 40 niners are preparing for a super bowl matchup against the kansas city chiefs. the niners had that historic comeback against the detroit lions to punch their ticket to the big game. abc news

oakland, 67. in the city, we're at about 70 in napa for daytime highs overnight tonight. we'll keep it partly cloudy. we'll keep it mild as well. temperatures not chilly by any means. low and mid 50s for the most part. now future weather tomorrow is a dry day, but it's a lot cloudier as our storm system gets a lot closer to us. the rain arrives here first in the north bay wednesday morning, but it's wednesday night into thursday morning. that is likely when we'll have the heaviestrillionain falling and some of the gusty winds that could bring some trees down and some isolated power outages. the time frame we're looking at right now for the worst impacts probably early wednesday afternoon into the thursday morning when we could see some of the pockets of flooding developing and also some isolated power outages. so when we talk about rainfall with this next system, keep in the back of your mind that our soils are already pretty saturated. so a lot of this rain will run off immediately and cause problems. so in our coastal hills, we're looking at 4 to 7in of rain through thursday morning. and the north bay we'll see 3 to 5in
