>> and britney spears fans help her beat justin timberlake's new song on certain streaming charts . but what does the singer herself think about the song? >> i've been following that drama just like i've been following the drama between the 40 niners and the lions this weekend. a lot going on. welcome to monday, january 29th. >> yes, we got you covered with all of that. we're going to start with a check of our forecast. andrew. yeah. >> good morning. get ready for another day of record warmth in areas. it's one of those january days. they could probably get away with shorts in some areas. as we go into the 70s and our warmest spots this morning, sutro tower showing you we have clear skies, but we do have pockets of fog just on napa though. update increasing their visibility to four miles, but still. san rosa fairfield were fluctuating between a quarter and an eighth of a mile outside of those areas, we do have clear skies up above, so take a look at how our day shapes up. if you liked yesterday, today is equally as sunny and warm, so we'll have those sunny skies throughout the day. it's already mild in the morning, 50s and 60s at 9 a.m, but it's the afternoon where we're likely to see some

new records forming as we go into the mid 60s and the mid 70s for daytime highs. we're dry today, but our next storm system will impact us on wednesday. we'll talk about that coming up in six minutes. let's say hi to gloria and see how the commutes go in. >> good morning. well, if you take bart the station over at balboa park is back open right now. it had been closed earlier today because of police activity, but again, back open. however there is a 20 minute delay on the san francisco line in the east bay direction because of this. and they're asking that you use the glen park or the daly city stations. >> thank you. gloria, the big game is set. the 40 niners going to their eighth super bowl in franchise history, playing the kansas city chiefs, the team that beat them four years ago in the same game. now the niners needed a historic comeback to seal the deal against the lions. they were trailing by 17 at halftime before. 27 straight points, and then the niners win by three. this was the largest comeback in an nfc championship game history. >> we orchestrated a pretty good

comeback because everybody was just focused on doing right longer, and that's something we say all the time is just do right longer. and i thought we showed that tonight. >> we had a good opening drive out of the second half and that fourth down stop. you could just kind of feel an energy. we go down and score. all right. this is huge turnover. i was like, oh man, all bets are off now. like bang, bang. >> we didn't want to go down as failures and we know our defense is way too good to play like that. >> 40 niners are an early favorite. the game is sunday, february 11th. of course, fans were eager to show off their 40 niners pride. so many people lined up to get their new nfc championship shirts at local stores. abc seven news reporter lena howland live at levi's stadium with the response from fans lena kumasi faithful fans who were paying very good attention to the second half of the game, started lining up for this long awaited merch well before the final whistle was

even blown. >> here's a look at the 40 niners faithful from our sky seven last night. this is at a dick's sporting goods in daly city. we saw 40 niners fans wrapping around the building to get their hands on nfc championship merch in red and gray. this includes the same shirt players put on after winning the game, which said nfc champions 40 niners are all in. fans there said they. they knew they had to be the first to grab a t shirt. go sells super bowl bound merchandise on the same night of the win, people showed up and waited for the game results. workers let people file in by smaller groups to manage this. very happy, but hyped up crowd, and for comparison, here's a little video out of kansas city

sure if she was going to make it, but she's here. >> i'm so glad they got to be together and watch this. one fan told us they paid $100 for a ticket to last night's game. honestly worth it. you can show your 40 niners pride on social media. we made the celebratory badge with brock purdy to share with the 40 niners faithful. you can find it on any of our social media accounts. abc seven news, bay area. vice president kamala harris will be in the bay area today. she's hosting a rally in the south bay for her fight for reproductive freedom store. harris and second gentleman doug emhoff arrived in los angeles over the weekend, and they're going to travel to san jose this morning. the vp also spent part of the weekend campaigning for president biden in nevada. she hopes to highlight how states like california have worked to protect reproductive rights since the overturning of roe v wade. senators alex padilla and laphonza butler are expected to be there. >> the race for the white house will be focused on south carolina this week. nikki haley, president biden and long shot primary challenger dean phillips

all in the state to stump for votes ahead of saturday's primary. governor newsom was there earlier in the week in support of president biden. newsom spoke with abc's jonathan karl on this week and took shots at donald trump. >> i mean, here's a guy who lost the election. trump and tried to wreck the country. he's lighting democracy on fire. he's making democracy a partizan issue. never imagined that in my lifetime. so the consequences are profound and pronounced. and that's why i'm down here, because this race is started. >> you can watch the full conversation with governor newsom and abc's jonathan karl at abc news.com today. >> you can start officially filing your tax returns for 2023. nearly 130 million individual tax returns will be filed this season. and gloria is at the live desk with some tips. >> yeah, well, first of all, there are two important dates to remember. january 31st. that's the deadline for your employer to submit w-2 forms. and april 15th is the deadline for you to file experts say that you should

file quickly and electronically, because that is the fastest way to get a refund. they also say to pay very close attention when filing. there was some big tax changes in 2023, including more incentive for green energy and ev credits. >> there were some inflationary adjustments, bigger standard deduction, higher earned income tax credit, lower tax rate brackets in a response to inflation, and then of course, at the end of the year, there were some green energy credits put into place. >> the volunteer income tax assistance program and aarp tax aide program are available to help you file your taxes. the irs has a new pilot program. it's called direct file, and it offers free federal tax return filing and real time online support. and remember, if you need more time, you can get an extension until october for federal taxes, you have to apply for that extension for state taxes, california grants an automatic extension, but your payment is still due on april 15th. so don't forget that

here's the back story. the woman on the hood says she saw a different woman take her french bulldog and get into this white car. that's when she stood in front of the car. but the thieves pressed the gas pedal, drove right into her. she fell on top of the hood, and she just held on for dear life. the woman says they kept going like this for several blocks, swerving to try and get her off. she is okay, but she still doesn't have her dog. an investigation is underway at heavenly ski resort after a snowboarder was trapped in a gondola carriage for 15

hours, monica lasso hopped on at 4:58 p.m. thursday for the descent down the mountain, but then the gondola stopped in mid-air, leaving her stuck there alone. and she didn't have her cell phone. she actually tried to scream to attract the attention of workers down below, but she says that her voice wore out. she kept warm by rubbing her hands and feet together. workers didn't find her until the next morning, when they opened again. medics checked her out. they determined that she was physically okay. can you imagine? >> no positive change. appears to be taking place at the skate park once considered a home base for san francisco's drug and homelessness crisis, our news partners at the san francisco standard report a drop in crime and dangerous behavior at united nations plaza. >> skateboarding was actually banned in that plaza before they opened the skateboarding park in november. that's the biggest piece of a multi-million dollar makeover that included new

fitness equipment, permanent ping pong tables and cornhole. in a new instagram post, britney spears apologized to justin timberlake for what she wrote about him in her book. she said she is sorry for any pain she caused in the same post, she says she loves timberlake. s new song called selfish. now this is where it gets interesting because over the weekend, many of spears fans called on each other to download spears own song. a totally different song, but it's also called selfish, which came out in 2011. on friday, spears song was actually on top of the itunes charts, beating timberlake's brand new song of the same name. >> okay. wow. interesting that's like a deep cut from her. >> yeah, but hey, it's on my favorite list now. it worked. did work. >> people don't play about britney now. they're like, no. >> yeah, team britney, they are team. >> i don't know why she's

the peninsula from san mateo to palo alto, near 70, in concord. today, overnight tonight, we'll keep partly cloudy conditions. not chilly by any means. we'll stay mild with lows mainly in the low to mid 50s. getting you into tuesday now. future tracker showing you tuesday is a dry day, but tuesday is a lot cloudier than today as our storm system gets closer to its wednesday that this atmospheric river is going to move onshore. first we'll have thatrillionain in the morning, likely in the north bay, and then this atmospheric river goes south and east. so by wednesday night, early thursday morning, that's when we'll see the highest impacts. when it comes to rain, heavy at times, likely some gusty winds as well. and some of the showers are going to try and linger even into friday as well. looking at rainfall totals, keep in the back of your mind that our soil is pretty saturated already, so when we get this rain, it's going to start running off pretty quickly, creating some problems on our roads. probably on our smaller streams. the good news is that our rivers can take on a lot of water. we still have a lot of leeway when it comes to our major rivers, so we're not expecting any flooding on our rivers. it's more of our smaller

under the law, guns are banned in 26 places, including playgrounds, public transit stadiums, amusement parks, things like that. it was blocked, reinstated, then blocked again earlier this month, and the ongoing legal battle continues. san francisco sheriff paul miyamoto spoke with

abc seven about what this means for the city and the state. >> right now, we're waiting for a decision from the courts sometime in june or july. until that time, though, the law is not in effect and we are just going about business as usual. >> concealed carry weapons permits issued in california now require 16 hours of firearm training, which is up from eight hours. psychological exams are also required to get a permit. a major hit to businesses near the pacifica pier. heavy storm damaged that historic pier, forcing its indefinite closure back on december 28th. well now, according to the chronicle, foot traffic in the area has plummeted and it's really hurt sales. city officials are predicting about half of the pier will be reopened by valentine's day, but the section thatrillionuns, alongside the beach, it was already damaged and it may take years to repair that before it's safe again. rite aid will be closing 16 stores here in california, including one here in the bay

the atlantic and now the head of the exploration company deep sea vision, recently searched across 5200mi■!s of the pacific ocean floor using an unmanned submersible, while in the final leg of the expedition, the team captured a sonar image of what looks like an object shaped like an airplane. they found it within 100 miles of howland island, near where earhart was believed to have gone down after refueling in new guinea, the company says they were not surprised to find the aircraft intact, and they say, quote, we always felt that earhart would have made every attempt to land the aircraft gently on the water. the sonar image suggests that may be the case. use sonar experts are giving credibility to the image, saying that it deserves closer inspection in the deep sea vision team plans to return to the same location to get better images. justrillionemarkable kumasi. >> it is. thank you gloria. well, the big game is set. the 40 niners going to their eighth
