become a staple in town, serving up weekend rides and events of all kinds for local neighbors. there but all of that changed just a few weeks ago. abc seven news reporter tim johns went to find out about a robbery that the owner says is now forcing the store to shut down. >> every day for the past ten years, najari smith has opened up the front doors of his shop. but about two weeks ago, he walked into a surprise. >> all the display cases emptied out all of the inventory that we had on the wall. all the bicycle products, the lights, the locks. you know, different accessories. all of that stuff was gone. >> smith says his store rich city rides was robbed. the thieves getting away with about $10,000 worth of merchandise. >> it hurts on a different level. it's not a big box store. >> the impact on the business has been so large that smith says rich city rides will have to shut down for the foreseeable future, a devastating blow to the entire community, says contra costa county supervisor john gioia, who represents this

district. >> this bike shop was more than a shop. it was really about culture. the culture of health, empowerment, working with young people and young adults. so this was really an attack on the community, not just the bike shop. >> smith believes creating that type of culture is key to running a successful business. he and the shop have spearheaded multiple community events, reaching local students, food vendors and other disaffected groups just one recent example being a bike ride over the chmond-san rafael bridge. >> you meet children when they're like ten years old, and eight years later they're 18 ones. you meet at 15, they're probably got their own kids. now you become rooted in your community, smith says despite the setback they've suffered, he and his business partner would like to reopen the shop at some point. >> maybe next year. in the meantime, though, smith says he'll try to keep hope alive. >> city. we deserve a bike shop. i was committed to having a bike shop happen from the start, and i still haven't let that dream

go in richmond. >> tim johns, abc seven news. and the co-owner of rich city rides tells us he just set up a gofundme to try to get the bike shop back up and running. >> if you're interested, we will post the link to that in our story online at abc seven news.com. all right, time now to turn to our weather and what's on the way. taking a live look atop our sutro tower cam where you can see calm skies tonight. but all of it changes big time. abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel standing by, watching out for everything ahead. sandhya. yeah, dion, you know that spring like warmth that we soaked up today that is fading tomorrow let's talk about the records for today. santa rosa, 73 degrees. that was a new record along with san francisco. san francisco's previous record was set back in 1899. oakland 71 today, new record as well. 74, in san jose. you will notice some ties there around redwood city, 72 and sfo 66 degrees already seeing signs of change with all the cloud cover on live

doppler seven, but the moisture plume is showing up off the northern california coast. this is an associate with a level two storm that it's on its way, and tomorrow night the north bay begins to see some showers at 9 p.m. the rest of us have to wait until wednesday, and that is when we're going to notice heavy rain developing and moving in across the afternoon evening hours. excessive rain, potential between wednesday morning and thursday morning is in that marginal to slight risk for the entire bay area. and as you look at that storm impact scale, that level two for wednesday, rain heavy at times, strong gusty winds, flooding and wind damage are likely here are the storm concerns. road and stream flooding will be high. shallow landslides also high. downed trees and power outages. it's going to be nearing that high category and river flooding will be coming up on moderate as some rivers like the russian river and guerneville will be coming up near monitor stage, san lorenzo river and the santa cruz mountains near big trees will be nearing that monitor stage. so just stay tuned. i'll be back

lauren martinez explains, many experts have doubts over where elon might want to take things into the future. >> controlling computers with your mind is the ultimate goal. and on monday, tech entrepreneur elon musk announced his medical device company is one step closer to making that a reality. musk made a series of posts on his platform acts that the first human received an implant from neuralink yesterday and is recovering well, drawing interest and skeptical reactions from those in the public health world and scientific circles and academic circles. >> we call this science by press release. in this case, it's science by tweet. i guess, um, that's not a credible way to communicate scientific findings to the broader scientific community. never mind the public. it was just six months ago, neuralink said they were looking to start human trials in paralysis patients. >> some of the eligibility qualifications included must have quadriplegia, limited function of all four limbs due to spinal cord injury, or als must be at least 22 years old

mild, but not quite as warm as where we were today. today was the second day of records, by the way. that's all changing. level two system coming in for wednesday. rain heavy at times. strong gusty winds, flooding and wind damage is likely. and when i say flooding, i'm talking about your small streams and creeks, roads flooding. that is going to be an issue. shallow landslides. we do have a flood watch that is going up wednesday morning until friday morning for the entire bay area, and that's because excessive rain is expected to possibly cause us flooding on rivers, streams, creeks. so just be aware of that. and roadways hour by hour. we go tomorrow night. you get the light showers in the north bay. and then you're thinking, where is that storm? it's coming. don't worry. and it's going to drench us on wednesday. wednesday morning it's in the north bay at 9 a.m, 2:00 in the afternoon. widespread rain, moderate to heavy at times at 7 p.m. still heavy rain falling across the region at 10 p.m. it barely moves into the east and south bay, so you will notice

the issues begin to crop up late wednesday night. going into thursday morning when we still see some downpours. uh- 10 a.m. turns over to scattered showers, but still will be briefly heavy at times going into thursday evening. rainfall projections with this system will range anywhere from about an inch and a half in brentwood to over three inches in ukiah. the santa cruz mountains, the coastal ill hills will likely pick up 3 to 5in of rain, wind advisory for the coast and san francisco. solano county gusts up to 50 miles an hour. that advisory wednesday morning to thursday morning. when you look at those winds, they'll be ramping up, gusting about 45 miles an hour wednesday morning, even stronger over 50 miles an hour along the coast wednesday afternoon and remaining gusty through the night. winter storm watch for the sierra wednesday morning to friday morning. heavy snow gusts 50 to 60 miles. an hour. we're talking three feet for the peaks now. travel may be difficult to impossible. snow levels will start out high. they will lower to 3500ft by friday. accuweather seven day forecast. it's
