record warmth yesterday. today it's still pretty mild out there but not as bright as clouds move in here we're tracking tomorrow. live look from the exploratorium camera. you can see the embarcadero lit up in forty-niners colors, and we have partly to mostly cloudy skies out there. currently, temperatures not too chilly by any means. i mean, we're sitting at 57 degrees right now in the city. it's 54. in oakland, the same in san jose. one of the cooler spots, danville coming in at 48, the same in santa rosa. so today we'll find those clouds moving in from time to time. we'll turn mostly cloudy throughout the afternoon. but despite the clouds underneath a pretty mild air mass into the afternoon. we'll get you into the 60s, if not low 70s. we're not expecting any records today, but temperatures still about 5 to 10 degrees above average. these clouds are rolling in ahead of our storm system. tomorrow. we have upgraded the storm to a level three, a strong storm on the abc seven storm impact scale wednesday afternoon and wednesday evening. rain will be heavy at times. strong, gustywie

flooding and some wind damage. we have flood watches up. we have wind advisories up. we'll talk all about what to expect tomorrow. coming up in about eight minutes. let's check in with gloria and see how things going. >> yeah. you know, so far things are looking pretty good out there. it is early, so not too much traffic right now. but this is one of our busier spots this morning. this is our 80 camera in emeryville. and you can see it is busier as you head westbound past golden gate fields to the maze. but no major delays this morning. >> thank you. gloria, a beloved small business in the east bay got robbed and is now forced to close up shop. , serving up weekend rides and events of all kinds for the neighbors that all changed a few weeks ago when store owner najari smith was surprised to find the store was robbed of at least $10,000 in merchandise. the impact is so big, smith says. the store will have to close for the foreseeable future. he says this hurts on a different level because rich city rides is not a big box store at all. >> the display cases emptied out

all of the inventory that we had on the wall. all the bicycle products, the lights, lock box, you know, differen says he would like to reopen the shop hopefully by next year. >> the san mateo county sheriff's office says a third body has been found after a small plane crashed off the coast of half moon bay earlier this month. that body was found in the water near the location of where the plane went down last week. the coroner's office identified a second body found as 26 year old cassidy. repetitive oakland. the third victim has not yet been identified. died. investigators are searching also believed to e been on the plane. big explosions near a sikh temple in sacramento were caused by propane tanks, according to local fire officials. that fire followed the fire that followed, i should say burned at least two

cars and badly damaged a nearby building. yesterday afternoon. now, the temple itself was not damaged and no injuries were reported. >> police arrested five men in connection to the six bodies found in a remote desert area in san bernardino county. we first brought you the story last week. now, investigators believe a dispute over marijuana led to the murders. glory is at the live desk with what police are saying. gloria reggie. >> the six victims were found shot to death in the middle of the desert. nearly one week ago. the san bernardino county sheriff's office says that four of the bodies were found burned. investigators say the 9-1-1 one call came in to request a welfare check last tuesday. the person who called was one of the victims names. >> dispatchers received a 911 call from a subject who spoke spanish. the caller told dispatchers he was shot, but he did not know the location he was at, and it appeared the call ended. dispatch archers tracked the p via latitude and longitude coordinates to a

remarks, speaking for the first time since his hospitalized mission, president and i will not tolerate attack to defend te us and our troops. but for any strikesl says biden has deep misgivings, fearing the conflict could further escalate. but meanwhile hopes for a two month cease fire between israel and hamas may have hit a roadblock. hamas has reportedly rejected the deal, insisting on only a permanent ceasefire in exchange for releasing hostages. and when abc news washingtonoday in the sierra will be underway in just a few hours, abc seven news reporter lena howland is joining us with a preview of what we can expect and what it could mean for the state's water supply. >> lena kumasi, good morning. today will be the second state snowpack reading of the season, and already experts are expecting to see some promising changes, boosted by a number of

big storms over the past month during the state snowpack. first measurement back on january second, it was just 25% of normal. now we are getting a clue of what we could see today from the cal central sierra snow lab. they put out daily readings and now we have jumped to 59% of normal. thanks to recent storms. that's week. now, later on this morning, officials from the state department of water resources will head to phillips station near the snowpack reading. it's a key indicator of the health of the entire snowpack, which provides nearly a third of the state's water supply. today's snowpack reading is expected to happen right around 11:00 this morning. live in studio lena howland, abc seven news. thanks lena, and we are expecting more snow starting tomorrow. >> winter storm watch is in effect for the entire sierra lasting through friday morning. heavy snow. at times we're thinking 1 to 2ft abovet

in our highest peaks, likely picking up three feet of snow today, though, it's quiet, we have a lot of cloud cover from time to time. maybe some coastal drizzle, but for the most part, we're not tracking weather the next 24 hours. the heavy rain really holds off until tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. so today it's not as sunny as yesterday wa mid side. we'll have mostly cloudy conditions throughout the afternoon. those temperatures getting above average once again. low 60s along the coast, but our warmest spots going into the low 70s for daytime highs. now as we get you into wednesday afternoon and wednesday evening, it is a level three on the abc seven storm impact scale. a strong storm, heavy rain at times, strong gusty winds as well. so we are looking at pockets of flooding developing and certainly some wind damage. here's live doppler seven along with satellite clouds ahead of our storm system. the storm system back here that is set to move in here tomorrow. so we already have watches up a flood watch is in effect for the

caught up with permitted vendors and businesses in the area to get their take on the ban. so far. >> it's been 62 days since san francisco implemented a 90 day street vending ban on mission street, and business owners rept signs of improved that the streets are look more clean and more safe for the kids that go to school for their place. that feeling is backed up by a survey from the city's office of economic workforce development, pointing to 56% of businesses feeling mission street is safer, 67% of businesses have seen a positive change on mission street, with more people coming

in and i hopefully with it was getting better. we also saw it 24 streets, bar plaza wasned re public works inspectors and san francisco police officers, but workers in this area say after inspectors leave illegal activity comes back. i saw in the nights mostly uh- they are doing vending at the same place. >> the mainly for the bart, bart around the bart area. >> supervisor hillary ronen represents the mission district. she says public safety has improved. >> we had uh- extortion of legitimate for about a year to try to fix the situation by creating a whole permitting system that we tried to enforce, and it was so overwhelming and chaotic that it didn't work. >> but more than 100 permitted street vendors can't wait for the ban to end. one of them is reina portillo. we found her outside a restaurant with her stars.and. turns out she is paying the restaurant to be here

to create millions of new homes by the end of the decade. tomorrow is a major deadline in the process. here in the bay area, the deadline. cities and communities may lose state funding eligibility, and developers could be able to bypass local zoning laws. the housing need in california is still really great, and as a result, it has become more important that cities and counties hold to their commitments that they're making to their own community. >> so that we can get the housing built. >> about 20 jurisdictions still need to adopt a state approved housing plan by the deadline tomorrow. a new development in san ramon could bring thousands of new homes, not everybody is buying in, at least not yet. the development will take over chevron san ramon office campus off bollinger canyon road. sunset development is drafting plans to build 2600 homes, apartments and condos on the 92 acre parcel. the plans also include a new retail center, a new park and a 3500 seat

amphitheater. the developer doesn't foresee any major problems. >> one of the nice things about taking a big office campus like that down and delivering homes is they used less water, less power, there's less traffic because people don't come and go at one time like they do with 1,000,000.5ft■!s of office. >> some residents, we spoke with acknowledged the upside, but they're not convinced there will be less traffic. they're also concerned about the esthetics, the future for a swim center in santa clara that's been home to several olympic swimmers will be discussed at a city council meeting today. >> the city of santa clara recently closed the haines international swim center because it no longer meets safety codes. it's been open since 1965. 80 olympian have trained there, including mark spitz, michael phelps and natalie coughlin. one idea is a bond measure to pay for a new facility, a major move for the space shuttle endeavor. it's been on display horizontally at a temporary exhibit at the california science center in la for over a decade now, it's

as yesterday. those clouds will give way to rain tomorrow on the abc seven storm impact scale. it's a level three strong storm. we have tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow evening, not only heavy rain, but also strong gusty winds at times. here's future weather. this evening is trying to bring us a light sprinkle in the north bay, but i think most areas are waiting for the rain tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow morning's commute looks to be okay. we'll start to see some showers move into the north bay right around 9 a.m, but it's into the afternoon. we'll start to thatrillionain spread across the entire region and then into the evening. that's. we'll be tracking heavy rounds of rain. this is 8 p.m, for example, and up quickly. so looking at rainfall totals, part of the reason why we increase the storm

impact scale is because we're going to see a lot of rain and a short amount of time. a lot of cities around the bay shoreline 1 to 2in a lot higher in the north bay, we're likely looking at three, four, even five inches ofs gusty in the morning tomorrow along the coast. and then as we head into the afternoon and evening, not out of the question, we'll see. winds gusting over 50mph at times. that will likely bring trees down. we'll have power outages potentially, and also pockets of flooding. so tomorrow evening is just going to be very messy. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. cloudier but still mild today. heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow will still have showers on thursday and friday. we'll get a dry day to start out saturday, but rain is back in the forecast sand >> yeah, you know right now we have no major issues out there on the roads. so that's some good news. let's get a live look right now at our one on one camera in san jose. you can see that traffic is flowing nicely here. this is at the i 80 over crossing. we have no major delays in this area. and then a look at your drive times for

it's comeback season. warning. number one, the oakland police department is set to give an update today in the homicide case of retired officer police officer kevin nishida. he was guarding a tv news crew in 2021, when he was shot during an attempted robbery. one of the suspects was just arrested earlier this month in kansas city. two others are also facing charges. increase in violent cr. most of the victims have been targeted on the island of new providence, which is home of the capital city of nassau. >> number three, ellen musk

tropicana resort, located on the strip, sent a letter to employees saying that it's going to close april 2nd. the 67 year old resort needs to be leveled before the new ballpark can be built. the team's new facility isn't expected to open until 2028 at the earliest. the a's ownership has not released any updated renderings or a full ballpark funding plan. it's also still unclear where the team is going to play after the coliseum lease expires at the end of this upcoming season. speaking of vegas, the ticket price to attend super bowl 58 is getting everybody talking this week. >> multiple resale ticket sites say the average price of on whe, tickets for the game are selling for their highest prices ever. 140 niner faithful says he's no longer monin guaranteed to get a super bowl ticket. >> the price tha um, is the 2100 i paid a piece earlier in october, plus 3500

investigators from the u.s. marshals service, pacific southwestrillionegion fugitive task force kan city police, and missouri state highway patrol. when task force members approached him in a parking lot to arrest him, he took off running across a highway and was later taken into custody. gilbert is believed to be the getaway driver for the 2021 attempted robbery, and killing of retired police officer kevin nishida. two other men are already in custody, also facing charges, as officials from the oakland police department are holding a press conference about this update this morning at 1030. we, of course, will let you know what happens. live in studio lena howland, abc seven news. >> lena. in the east bay supreme court justice sonia sotomayor is opening up about the frustration she feels daily as the court's conservative majority moves the country fart. >> i live in frustration. um, and as you heard, every loss truly traumatizes me in my

there. once that sun gets up here, you'll notice that overcast condition. we're quiet today. we're not expecting any impacts when it comes to our weather. we don't even have fog out there this morning with that cloud cover will still be pretty mild this afternoon. we'll get into the 60s and low 70s not expecting records today, but those temperatures are above average for this time of the year. then we'll turn to that stormy pattern tomorrow, wednesday afternoon and wednesday evening. it's level three, a strong storm, rain heavy at times along with some strong gusty winds. we will see some damage when it comes to rain and wind. future weather tomorrow morning's commute looks pretty quiet. a lot of cloud cover maybe an isolated shower on the tail end, but it's as we get into the afternoon. this is when we start to see the storm move onshore, and it's into the evening that we'll see the heaviest rain and the strongest wind. when future weather starts showing you these deep reds. that's intense rainfall that will add up very quickly and will lead to those flooding problems. so taking a look at how much rainfall we are expecting, you can see around the bay shoreline. really good estimate of 1 to 2in. and that's

going to fall in a short amount of time even higher in the north bay. these pops of pink you see in parts of the north bay, that's rain in excess of five inches. that's part of the reason why we increased the storm impact scale. and part of the reason why we're expecting flooding a huge portion of the bay area has been outlined for an increased risk of excessive rainfall. tomorrow into early thursday, so flooding is certainly going to happen in pockets in many areas. not only rain, but wind will be an issue strongest along the coast first tomorrow morning andnds gustingh possible in a lot of cities along the coast and in the santa cruz mountains, we could see those winds gusting up to 60mph. so we're likely going trees down. think of saturated soil, kind of like oatmeal. those trees no longer have the support. they need to stay up, and they will fall pretty easily because of this rain. here's the accuweather seven day forecast for the next seven days for you. cloudy today. heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow. still showers possible on thursday, but the worst of the storm is over and then we'll track another system moving in here on sunday. gloria. >> yeah, you know we are
