valley. in fact, that area is going to remain active throughout the evening into the late night hours. and then finally after midnight, we'll see the storm beginning to weaken up just a little bit and break up into scattered showers with fewer downpours. still, though, a flood watch and warning in effect for the entire bay area until well through tomorrow morning. the watch is for most of the bay area. the warning is for this area in the north bay portions of the three north bay counties of napa, sonoma and marin, and with the flooding likely on streams, rivers and creeks, wind alerts in effect, the sort of tan areas here down to the surface under a wind advisory until 10:00 tonight, with gusts up to about 50mph in the hills and mountains . the area is shaded in that sort of purple color. it's a high wind warning with gusts up to 60mph or higher. we still have a high surf advisory in effect until 4 a.m. tomorrow. right now we've got wave heights up to 22ft at bodega bay. large breakers could reach 25ft or higher. and of course, under these conditions, the risk of rip currents and dangerous swimming and surfing conditions over in the sierra winter storm
