cloudy skies. will warm up a bit into the mid 50s today. gloria. yeah >> you know, as lisa mentioned, you may experience some slick roads this morning. i know in san jose where we've been looking at the cameras, they have had some slick roads today. we do have some mass transit updates for you. bart is running trains at slower speeds because of the wet weather, and ace has announced that ace one and three are on about ten minute delays right now. and that's because of freight train traffic. so we'll keep monitoring this for you. let you know if there's any other updates for your mass transit this morning. reggie >> thanks, gloria. the bay area is still recovering from sunday's major storm. so here's the latest fallen tree and flood cleanups are underway this morning. before we get some more scattered rain today, sfo is down to a handful of flight delays and cancellations. some bay area schools are canceling classes today because of power outages, including two in san jose. several schools in sonoma county and at cal state east bay main campus. p-g-and-e's is still working to restore power to nearly 65,000 customers. that

is a major improvement from yesterday, when 400,000 were in the dark at one point, the utility says. in terms of outages, sunday's storm was rivaled only by two others. in 1995 and 2008. here is a live look at the p-g-and-e's outage map. green means up to 50 customers are without power. yellow up to 500. orange up to 5000, and red means more than 5000. and i don't think that we are seeing at this point any red on the map. so that is a bit of a good sign. abc7 news reporter lena howland is in mountain view with the impact of businesses, lena. >> hey, reggie, we're in mountain view right now. we're only in the past few hours, power has been restored to this shopping center. after spending almost a day and a half in the dark. it was a much different story last night, right around 10:00, when p-g-and-e's said there were still more than 94,000 customers without power across the bay area. a third of

which were in the south bay. that's where we caught up with restaurant owners scrambling to find food storage. the owner of el halal amigos and willow street pizza in san jose said his restaurants lost power sunday afternoon. but by monday afternoon, he had to rent a refrigerated van to transport food to another one of his restaurants in los gatos. he estimates a loss of $8,000 in inventory and 12,500 dollars in sales, so far. >> we have to move all of this into the refrigerator car outside. 20 years in the business, i have never had to close a restaurant due to a storm longer than a day. we couldn't run away from the spoilage, so we ended up losing a lot. >> but the dark did not keep people from grabbing a slice or a drink. over at bebo's new york pizza, that owner said they were fortunate to hook up a generator quickly thanks to the help from a customer. now new numbers from p-g-and-e's show that there are still more than 19,000 customers without power here in the south

bay, and also the greatest concentration of outages is up in the north bay. live in mountain view. lena howland abc seven news thank you lena. >> now we're going to take a live look at san francisco international airport. it's been relatively quiet there this morning, especially when compared with the weekend. right now, according to flight tracker flightaware.com, one flight has been canceled. we know at least 13 have been delayed. now the situation not too bad at the bay area's other two major airports. this is a live look from our oakland airport camera, but so far no cancellations here. just one flight delayed. now live. look at san jose mineta international airport. no issues reported there. this morning regarding flights in or out. >> at least three deaths are now being blamed on the storm in northern california, including one in santa cruz county. 445 year old robert brainard, the third, was killed after a tree fell on a home along highway nine in boulder creek. the damage to the house and cars

parked in the driveway was extensive. neighbors recall what they heard shortly after the tree fell. >> the thing we heard was somebody screaming, but then the screaming stopped like. like you've ever heard a wounded dog like that, but it wasn't a dog. it was human. >> well, that's horrible to hear . a second person inside the home was able to escape and call 911, and unfortunately, firstrillionesponders weren't able to save bernard >> more scenes of destruction down in southern california. crews there dealing with major flooding and landslides. state officials called this latest storm a once in a thousand years event. part of los angeles saw at least 12in of rain in just a 24 hour period, and as abc news senior meteorologist rob marciano tells us, the mudslides are devastating. >> so many slides in the hills around los angeles, but this is

north bay, sandy's major storm left a trail of destruction in its wake. the clean up process is just starting and it could take weeks in santa rosa, a 100 foot fall from three foot tall fir tree, it fell into this home, crushing the garage. officials redtagged the home. strong winds also toppled a tree in forestville, taking out part of a driveway and power lines with it. residents there say they're now stuck at home with no way out. >> we're kind of stranded up here. we can't take our car down this driveway and we can't cross the downed power lines until they come and clear it. >> nearby in windsor, russian river brewing company says they saved the beer. the company rented an 800 watt generator sunday to keep the beer cool, according to social media. the brewery is back up and running yesterday afternoon with full service dining in the east bay. >> people there are dealing with damage and the aftermath of the weekend. severe weather just like everybody else. p-g-and-e's crews were seen yesterday working hard to fix snapped power poles. three walnut creek

elementary school started the day without power. residents trying to get by as power is getting restored. >> was cold of course, you can warm the house. you can heat anything to eat and it's not easy. >> a crane was called in after a eucalyptus tree crashed into a house in the oakland hills. witnesses say downed trees in the area aren't surprising during these types of storms. everyone is alive. everyone accounted for after an avalanche yesterday afternoon at a nevada ski resort, search teams rescued four people who had been reported missing at lee canyon. that's about 50 miles northwest of las vegas. search and rescue teams had to battle miserable conditions there to get to the mountain, which has seen nearly a foot of snow in just the past 24 hours. the best way to stay on top of these updates is with the abc seven news bay area app. you can look at the same radar that our weather team uses and check out full forecast. just
