more than 50,000 p-g-and-e's customers are still without power as crews rush to make repairs. >> for the next round of rain. good evening. >> i'm ama daetz and i'm dan ashley. thanks for joining us. p-g-and-e's has made significant progress compared to the 85,000 customers who were without electricity this morning. >> yes, but still many people have gone days without power and could be waiting even longer. yeah, abc seven news reporter dustin dorsey has a look at conditions in one of the hardest hit areas in the south bay. >> even though the power was off, the power tools were on and running in san jose's willow glen neighborhood. tuesday they worst storm in 32 years by far. this was all from danny hooper's giant redwoods. but across the street, several trees snapped, bringing lines down with them. that was sunday afternoon. 48 hours later, still no electricity here. >> p-g-and-e's has told us three times that it was going to be such and such a time, and they didn't show up. they said it was going to be on at 330 yesterday. then it got moved to ten and then i heard from other

neighbors that it wasn't going to be until 4 a.m. tomorrow. >> sitting in a cold, dark house has been tough for lacey balog and her eight month old son, wade. >> to be honest, it's been pretty brutal. we've been without heat power for three days now. he's managing good, but we're trying to do our best. we went out on a walk today and we saw this uh- the power line that was down. so we figured, are they working on it? but doesn't seem like they are yet. >> p-g-and-e's crews were working just ten miles away in east san jose. power poles snapped across several backyards on san pablo avenue. the residents of the street were among the 30,000 customers without power in the south bay tuesday morning. >> we've experienced the third most outages of any storm in p-g-and-e's history. it was pretty intense on sunday with hurricane force winds, a first ever for our california coast. >> the utility has more than 3000 workers working 24 over seven since the storm. p-g-and-e's teresa alvarado says

the work requires multiple steps for safety reasons, and that takes time. she hopes the lights will be back on in willow glen and beyond soon enough. there's one that i know of in willow glen that had 3000 customers out yesterday. >> today it's down to 900, so we are trying to restore people, even in a step fashion as quickly as we can. >> neighbors hoping for the same in san jose. dustin dorsey, abc seven news p-g-and-e's calling sunday's storm one of the most damaging single day storms on record in terms of outages. >> this is a look at everyone who still doesn't have power right now in it's latest update, p-g-and-e's says more than 52,000 customers in the bay area are affected. that's down by about 2000 from earlier this afternoon. >> streets are closed until further notice at the intersection of third and mission in san francisco due to a p-g-and-e's volt fire. san francisco fire departmentrillionesponded to calls of heavy smoke in the area just before 2:00. when they arrived, they determined it was an underground electrifi.

part of the equipment they have underground p-g-and-e's utility crews are currently investigating what may have caused this fire to ignite. fire. officials tell people to seek alternate routes while they work on the repairs. >> some people on the peninsula who were dealing with power outages sought relief by checking into a hotel, but that's when they were faced with an even worse situation after their cars were broken into. and as abc seven news anchor dion lim reports, car break ins are plaguing many parts of the bay area completely. >> uh- vans lies. my vehicle took my belongings. i mean, this this state of lawlessness has got to come to an end. >> frustration has reached a fever pitch for those in the parking lot of the larkspur landing hotel in south san francisco. >> i'm sorry. >> i'm like really emotional about this because, like, you would never thought this would happen to somebody. >> levi clark is one of more than 20 people whose cars were broken into or bipt monday night in his case, precious cargo was inside and they went into the middle console and they stole my

karma. do something to protect the citizens that you are elected to protect. >> this has got to come to a stop in south san francisco. >> dion lim, abc seven news a lot of frustration as you can see. >> well, this comes as governor newsom announced the deployment of 120 additional chp officers to parts of the east bay and response to violent crime and property crime, as well as abc seven news reporter leslie brinkley explains, oakland officials are welcoming this news in august, the california governor assigned six extra police officers to oakland. >> today, he announced he's sending 120 more after 2023. crime statistic show violent crime in oakland is up 21. rob worries are up 38% and car thefts are up 45. >> for the governor to assign us 120 highway patrol officers. uh- i am in complete support of that

and i've asked for even send me the national guard if you have to the governor's statement described the effort as a targeted law enforcement surge operation to crack down on crime . >> opd is working with chp on the actual date for the rollout, and the plan. however, you know we can see it as soon as in a week. i would say, you know, but of course we are going to be able we need to actually work together to layer on the services. so that we can, you know, utilize all the services that we can get from chp, the governor's office indicated that could include the actual deployment of long promised license plate reader technology, along with k-9s and air support. >> unfortunately, the data is mixed on whether or not having more police officers is going to impact the foundation of what's causing high crime. i don't care how many police officers you bring in, you know, police can't

be everywhere without a top cop. you don't have a vision for law enforcement in the city. >> i'm hopeful that with the new march deadline from the police commission that they will forward me stronger applicants. now during the traffic stops. if you are speeding, if you are running red lights or what have you, they'll be able to do the traffic stops. they will also be in key corridor, like our hegenberger corridor where the airport is at, and our business districts. >> the mayor says this infusion of 120 chp officers will focus not only on oakland, but on neighboring communities here in the east bay. i'm leslie brinkley, abc seven news, crystal for high school in gilroy was vandalized last night. >> and what appears to be a racially motivated incident, an anonymous parent says multiple windows were broken in, classrooms were burglarized, some windows and walls had slurs written on them, including the n word. multiple posters of former president barack obama were ripped down, the parent tells us there has been racial tension at the school lately. the school

district confirms this is under investigation, and east bay company is now facing even more lawsuits over a product it sold to fertility clinics, which allegedly led to the destruction of embryos that families counted on for their pregnancy. >> abc seven news anchor karina nova is in the newsroom with the story. karina >> dan. today, the law firm representing dozens of families announced several more lawsuits against a bay area company. coopersurgical the lawsuits were filed by those who lost embryos stored at fertility clinics, blaming extreme negligence by coopersurgical. the suit alleges that the ivf solution used while eggs are fertilized was defective, and a missing and missing a key ingredient. that solution, according to the lawsuit, is critical to mimic the environment inside the womb. tracy cowan with clerks and law firm, says families across the united states and here in the bay area planned on building their families with those lost embryos. >> they have years of pain and

trauma ahead of them, and we're hoping that we can not only get them some recovery with this, but also make it so that these companies swease have to use better safeguards to ensure the safety for everyone. um, moving forward and using ivf and other fertility services. the families are seeking financial compensation and accountability from coopersurgical. >> many had spent between 12,000 and $60,000 on fertility treatments and services. in a statement given to abc news, coopersurgical says, quote, while we cannot address ongoing litigation quality and compliance are fundamental parts of the value we provide to our customer and are our core focus in accordance with the requirements of our quality management system. a media recall was initiated to proactively address any possible issue with our products. while we continue to investigate the law firm representing the families says they expect more people to learn their embryos

takes is usually more of a trickle. >> but right now it is a strong moving current. as you see here. one man had to be rescued by helicopter after jumping into the rushing waters to save his dog. the man was okay, taken to the hospital to be checked out. theter being rescued downstream and was taken to the vet. >> all right, here in the bay area, the sun was back out today, as you know, but more rain is on the way. >> yeah, it was a nice break though. let's get to abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya? yeah. ama and dan. most people had a chance to dry out today, which is exactly what we needed down south. take a look at live doppler seven. right now it is still raining down there. water logged southern california. some parts have picked up over a foot of rain in just the last couple of days, with a lot of damage as you just saw. now locally, as we look at live doppler seven, we are seeing just some isolated showers right now as we take you into street level radar right around livermore or patterson pass road. so don't be surprised if you do run into a shower or two tonight. look at this beautiful view from zephyr cove.

snow capped mountains. this is really just a lovely sight. and the sierra snowpack has gone up to 75. so 2 to 15in of snow in the last 24 hours. just last week it was half of where it should be. so making some big gains there after the weekend. storm 50s right now 46 at clear lake. yeah, it's definitely chilly out there from our san jose camera, seeing a beautiful view of the sun getting ready to set tomorrow. we are looking at rain spreading thursday. isolated showers are possible and then friday through early next week. dry and milder weather coming our way. this storm is going to be nothing like what hit us sunday and even part of yesterday. we're really looking at a light level one storm tomorrow. rain will be moderate at times. rough and dangerous swells, possibility of snow on the peaks, a beach hazard statement for the coastline until 4 a.m. tomorrow. wave heights up to ten feet. even though we're seeing 11 footers here, the weather service is saying up to ten feet. risk of sneaker waves. so definitely be careful. coastal

flood advisory due to high tides until 10 a.m. saturday. mainly impacts between 6 and 10 a.m. every day, with the minor low lying flooding expected. all right, let's go hour by hour and i'll show you what's going to happen tomorrow morning as the commute starts for some of you, at 430, there will be spotty light showers at 7 a.m, some light rain across parts of the bay area, some moderate to heavy rain around mendocino county as we go into about 9 a.m, we are going to notice some pockets of moderate rain, but it will be brief and that continues at 11 a.m. in the east bay, san francisco, down towards the south bay. i do want to point your attention to mount hamilton. could see some snow as we head towards noontime. yes, cold enough air. scattered showers continuing with the high elevation snow potential. and then this pretty much winds down late tomorrow night. but isolated shower chance continues into thursday. rainfall projections anywhere from about 1507 inch to about three quarters of an inch there in the santa cruz mountains. and speaking of mountains, a winter weather advisory for the sierra.
