or via the abc seven bay area app. let's take a peek at conditions outside. good morning lisa. >> good morning to you. it is pretty out there. how nice. well we'll finally be around average which will be low 60s for most of us. a little cooler at the coast. and we're going to hold on to this forecast for several days. but we do see a return to some stormy weather in the future. i'll have the details next. lisa >> thank you. and a day before the big game, an inside look at the iconic neon signs all over las vegas. abc seven's zach fuentes makes a special trip to the top to see what it takes. that story two very different visions for california. steve garvey, the leading republican, is too conservative for california. he voted for trump twice and supported republicans for years,
9:10 am
including far right conservatives. adam schiff, the leading democrat, defended democracy against trump and the insurrectionists. he helped build affordable housing, lower drug costs, and bring good jobs back home. the choice is clear. i'm adam schiff, and i approve this message.

9:13 am
traditional dances, and musical performances. event organizers say the event shows the impact of asian culture throughout communities. it's a testament to piedmont and our community that people want to come together. >> they want to learn about asian culture and we as an asian community want to share back with them. >> there will be events happening across the bay area this weekend to honor the lunar new year. so switching gears now, we are a little over 24 hours away from the super bowl. the 40 niners will face the kansas city chiefs, a rematch of the super bowl in 2019, and we're already feeling the excitement and the energy here in the bay area. and so is las vegas. hosting a super bowl is a first for sin city, but it's not the big game that's made the vegas name. some say its status is owed to the neon and led signs that are instantly recognizable. abc seven news reporter zach fuentes has been in las vegas all week and has more on who's behind the city's most iconic sign, right now,
9:14 am
many of the iconic signs and lights in las vegas are lit purple for super bowl 58, but did you ever think about the team of people who are responsible for creating and maintaining so many of these icons in the city? >> i can tell you, as a vegas native, it didn't really ever cross my mind. but yesterday we got the chance to see how the literal magic is made, and i actually got to create a little bit of it myself. go ahead and take a look. welcome to fabulous las vegas. it's one of the most iconic signs in the world. but like anything, sometimes it needs a little maintenance on this particular day, the neon m in the word welcome needed to be replaced. so it was yours truly to the rescue and i'm scared to death. got my hard hat on the fog here on. so i'm secure in this. um. doesn't mean i'm any less nervous. and if you pan the camera over there, there's a lot of people waiting to take a picture, and we're kind of being an obstruction at the moment. but this is all in the name of journalism and telling a very fun, important story. this super bowl week service journeyman kenny west sent me up in the cherry picker and once i was up, i got straight to work before
9:15 am
any of this was able to happen, though, that neon m had to be created for the 103 years. that kind of magic has been created by the incredible team at yesco custom electric signs. think of almost any neon or led sign in the city of las vegas, and yesco is likely behind it. constructing and maintaining the visual icons that make vegas, vegas. >> so my grandfather was here in the late 20s and early 30s, designing, building and installing signs before vegas was really more than just a train stop. >> yes, those facilities are not open to the public, but this super bowl week, they gave abc seven cameras a rare look inside, even creating a special sign to welcome us. abc seven in the house from the older neon lights and signs seen throughout places like downtown las vegas to the led lights at dazzle, people on the strip. yes, koh's work is behind most all of them. even at allegiant stadium, home of super bowl 58. you know, we're keeping those lights lit anyway, but you can imagine the pressure for us is the game has
9:16 am
gotten closer and everyone's coming to town. >> uh, of course we need to perform and be there for them because the stadium needs to look perfect. the led lighting, like allegiance, is a newer standard. >> there's still a demand in loving interest in classic neon lights, but fewer people and companies are able to create them. if there's anywhere it can be found, though, it's here at yesco. neon journeyman oscar gonzalez has been bending neon glass for more than 30 years. we found him making that letter m that i was tasked to install at the welcome to fabulous las vegas sign over a stencil. he marks the glass right where he wants to bend it. then he takes it to the fire. >> now where i had to do, i had to heat the glass to get the point where i can bend it. >> after showing me how it's done, i then get a turn. we have our mark here. that mark is in place and this is the area i have to bend. there we go. how'd i do it? bend after the glass is made into that m. it's now ready to head to the pumping system to fill it with neon gas and other elements. yeah and after a test
9:17 am
with this device, it's finally ready for the installation. that yesco bravely put me in charge of. a nerve wracking but unforgettable assignment that was the most incredible moment. as a vegas native, i think i've ever spent in the city. never in my life did i think i'd be that high up that close to the welcome to the fabulous las vegas sign. i am just so grateful and appreciative of this man for helping me get up there. tell me what to do. hopefully i did it right and yes, go for giving us this tour. all of us. this look at how they make this magic happen. so incredible. and yeah, when you get on harness now and right now, the m that i installed on the welcome to fabulous las vegas, nevada sign is still there. so i think i did the job well. we'll see as the day progresses. but such a great time. obviously you didn't get to keep that light as a souvenir. but we got to keep this. the special sign that they made for our welcome to the facility. so we're super appreciative and grateful for that happening. tomorrow we're going to bring you a story of a couple with some bay area roots, were a huge 40 niners fans. they're going to renew their vows here in vegas. 40 niners
9:18 am
style. this is a story we'll bring to you tomorrow. right now in vegas. zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> we look forward to that zach. and that m looks perfect. you did a great job. well so much excitement for this game. of course we've been talking about this 29 year nfl championship drought a lot on the line tomorrow for the niners and espn . has the niners favored to win by an average of 3.1 points? lisa, i'm hoping for five. what do you think? oh yeah. >> maybe a touchdown or two. why not. right. so outdoors you're going to hang out. maybe some barbecues outdoor parties. and we are at about 60 degrees in our inland valleys. 2:00 a little cooler, 5:00. and if you are around the bay, even a little milder. but once that sun sets, 545 temperatures dropping into the 40s in our inland valleys and coast side, pretty consistent in the 50s throughout the afternoon. so high pressure, dominant weather feature allowing for a string of dry days. mostly sunny today. a few high clouds tomorrow. what a view ■here. upper level winds have been gusty. it is 51 in san
9:19 am
francisco, 50 in hayward. but we're going to have light winds at the surface. 54 half moon bay. and look at emeryville. such a gorgeous shot there. 52 in napa, mid 40s though santa rosa petaluma, concord and livermore. they were into the 30s this morning. so sunny and milder today. super bowl sunday low. lots of sunshine, a few high clouds and then late next week a pattern change big time. we're talking the rain initially getting going could be as early as late wednesday into thursday and then really ramping up. so lunar new year celebrations as we are bright and cool with temperatures near 50. and then by the afternoon upper 50s, near average, a beautiful day. and then we'll drop off through the 50s after about 5:00. so this is a ten day outlook. and this brings back 1 to 2in of rain in the bay area into next tuesday. so this is really just getting going because if the rain starts it's going to take a little while to start up. we're going to have some wind. and it looks like we're going to see more accumulation than that as we get
9:20 am
into next week. so still way too far out to pinpoint particulars. but just to keep that in mind, upper 50s san francisco look for 60 in fremont, 63 in san jose, and the accuweather seven day forecast looking at temperatures in the low 60s for the next few days. and as we get into your tuesday outlook, a little fog, valentine's day, cloudy level one system, perhaps next thursday, and two very different visions for california. steve garvey, the leading republican, is too conservative for california. he voted for trump twice and supported republicans for years, including far right conservatives. adam schiff, the leading democrat, defended democracy against trump and the insurrectionists. he helped build affordable housing, lower drug costs, and bring good jobs back home. the choice is clear. i'm adam schiff, and i approve this message. ordinary is the opposite of beautiful.

a time's up time lapse of the field going in for the game. it's really a cool thing that they have a dome. stadiums nowadays that have natural grass surfaces. they set up the turf outside and then slid it right into allegiant stadium on this field sunday evening, someone will become a super bowl champion. it's so close right now. the niners players can only dream of it. >> it definitely would mean a lot. obviously just growing up watching my dad win super bowls and um, knowing how much work that he put in to accomplish all those with his teammates and to have an opportunity to do it this week with this team is special. you know, i was talking to brandon today and i'm just like, bro, i kind of feel different than like talking about it than you really here he was like, yeah bro, it's a little different. >> i said, yeah man. like, you got to enjoy it, bro. but i promise you, like we got to keep the main thing the main thing just so we can get the job done. you know, like losing a super bowl is not fun, and it makes you want to win one even more because you're so close, right? >> but, like, it's not it hasn't been, like, singed in the back

of my brain. when you get close repeatedly and it doesn't, you know, you don't get over the hump or whatever, you know what words you want to use. it's just, uh, it is a little bit more motivating, but just want to, you know, i don't think we're very motivated to win this football game. and there's nothing else that's going to motivate us any extra. >> um, i haven't thought about that yet, but i'll do it for a while. i won't just be one night. >> that's a great soundbite from kyle shanahan. this was a great event featuring niners legend, hall of fame quarterback joe montana benefiting run freely.org. their mission is to buy prosthetic devices for veterans who lost their legs. so joe agreed to throw passes to a select group of fans who made donations. they jogged about ten yards, catching a perfect pass from joe cool. those fans also got autographs and photos with mr. montana. best of all, this event helped pay for a new prosthetic device for a veteran in need. well done there. women's college hoops on a friday night washington honoring stanford's tara vanderveer for becoming the all time winningest coach in college basketball history. six ranked cardinal pushed into overtime, but
