authority say more than 60 palestinians were killed. this as benjamin netanyahu says he wants to launch a military incursion into rafa. remember that's where more than 1 million people have fled for safety during this war. president biden has been critical of israel's actions in gaza and he reminded prime minister netanyahu this weekend that he should not launch that military if civilians aren't out of the way first. rebecca? >> thank you. we turn to the shooting at joel osteen's megachurch in texas. two people were injured and the female shooter shot dead. mireya villarreal has the story. >> reporter: chaos erupting at joel osteen's megachurch after a barrage of gun fire. >> i was just watching the service. he started -- they started shooting. i don't know. i just heard. it was more than ten shots. >> reporter: levi capturing the moment shots rang out.

were the ones you just featured dun kings. i think the fact that, obviously, you had monster celebrities. you had ben affleck, matt damon, tom brady and j. lo, of course. so self-afacing. i thought matt damon stole that ad. i thought he was so low key, pitch perfect. the fact they now also, the name is in it. lot of the celebrity ads, it's what i call celebrity poo-poo platters. dun kings you will remember it's dunkin. obviously, also, ben affleck has an affinity for the brand. kind of all makes sense. i thought that was by far and away the winner. >> i think so. how about the ads without any celebrities? what did you think? >> what's interesting, statistically 60% of the ads have celebrities and 30% have multiple celebrities. only one in three ads don't have celebrities in it. i thought the budweiser ad, you can't miss with that. the clydesdale, very traditional. i thought the google pixel ad was a sweet ad. showed a person vision challenged that now they have features they can see.

i thought that was very sweet. also the ad which showed little girls really trying and not always making it, set to the tune of a song. i thought that was strong. >> which one? >> the pickleball babies. [ laughter ] >> they're not even babies anymore. we're going to see them in a nursing home one day. let the babies stay babies. >> they get you. they get you with the old school and the nostalgia factor, too. >> nostalgia tends to perk up in movies and tv commercials when times are tough because people want to go backwards. you had nostalgia ads. you had suits, the two guys from suits. jennifer aniston and david schwimmer. reunion. you had parks and recreation reunion. a lot of looking back. the thing nostalgia does, young people, say who are watching "friends" on tv now, old fogies like us, know "friends" from way back when. nostalgia always works.

time in the past five seasons. it was a slow tight first half, emotions were running high. travis kelce getting into it with his coach, andy reed, on the side line. the 49ers going into the locker room at halftime up a touchdown. then usher came out for his halftime show. that seemed to wake the teams up. the chiefs coming back. then niners taking the lead. back and forth it went. then overtime. the nerves inside allegiant stadium, palpable. you could feel the tension and the nervousness. one guy who didn't seem so nervous was patrick mahomes. he led his team down the field for that winning touchdown at the end. then it was pandemonium and jubilation then that fairy tale ending at midfield. kelce and his girlfriend, taylor swift, sharing an embrace and kiss. i asked travis after the game if he and taylor, with her grammy win last sunday and his super bowl win, if they had the best week of any couple ever. he said, we're on top of the world, baby. and so are the chiefs now, back to back champions in the super

but since october, more than 20 million illnesses have been reported nationwide, and 15,000 deaths in what the cdc considers a typical flu year, but also now includes covid. the cdc recommends staying up to date on vaccinations and washing your hands to slow the spread. you guys, it's typical for the flu to peak in the u.s. between december and right now, although it's important to keep in mind especially if you have little ones at home, like i do, you rebecca, this significant activity could last through may. >> lovely. gma, sir, you nailed it. everything you said happened last night. i mean, come on. is that fair to say? >> you know what? in all seriousness, it could have gone either way. it was a fantastic game. for three quarters they were going back and forth going up and down wondering what was happening. the defenses really showed up to save the day for both teams. but in the end greatness means something. when you're thinking about a guy like patrick mahomes. brock purdy played a great game. there's levels to this. patrick mahomes just reminded the world he's on a different level than everybody else right now. it's just that simple. he was phenomenal when it counted most. that's why the kansas city chiefs are back to back super bowl champions. >> that's right. you picked them to win. you said mahomes would be the mvp. which he is, for the third time. what makes him so special? >> well, outside of his skills, he can make any throw, his decision making, the way he sees the field, how cerebral he is,

along with him being so gifted at throwing the football. he's incredibly poised. big moments don't faze him. it doesn't matter what it is. he's been a starter in the national football league for six years. six times he's gone to the afc championship game. three times he's won a super bowl championship. i mean, when you look at it from that perspective, three super bowl championship, three super bowl mvp's along that way. and he's just 28 years of age. he is something phenomenal, make no mistake about it. as a matter of fact, i covered andy reed in philadelphia for years. i believe andy reed would have been retired at least a couple years ago had it not been for him having this kid. but because this kid is his quarterback, andy reed ain't thinking about going anywhere. >> let's talk about the other quarterback you eluded to. let's show some love to brock purdy and the 49ers. they really showed up last night. >> definitely, no question about it. the defensive coordinator steve wilkes did a phenomenal job coaching this team with their

defense. they played an outstanding game. christian mccaffrey is somebody i believe would have been the mvp of the super bowl had san francisco won. he led them in rushing and receiving yards yesterday afternoon, even though he suffered a fumble early in the game. he was absolutely sensational as well. brock purdy did a good job, threw for 255 yards, showed tremendous poise. wasn't wilting beneath the pressure. the only problem is, he's not patrick mahomes. and patrick mahomes is on the other side of the field. that was his problem, nothing else. >> that's vintage stephen a. i knew we'd get a little stephen a. out of you. all right, okay. the three peat. can they do it? can they be the first in nfl history to win three consecutive super bowl titles? >> i think they can pull it off. they are a first class organization. they are led by andy reed, one of the great, great coaches in the history of the game. hall of fame coach, no question about it. but when you take into account the fact their defense is so

the impact of this pop culture sports crossover may have ripple effects for decades on the nfl and on families. this morning taylor swift taking over super bowl lviii. all eyes were on her as she smiled on the jumbotron and even downed an ice cold beverage with authority. even the ads in this commercial leading up to the super bowl, dad has the friendship bracelet and his daughters got the jersey. >> a touchdown is six points. >> reporter: the theme, all over social media. >> i am so excited. my girls are finally interested in watching football with their dad. >> reporter: for jamie vorhees and his daughter brie, they watch games together. it wasn't just about her learning the nuances of the play action pass. >> brie kind of was introducing me to the music. we were trying to rock out together. i'm a swiftie now. >> now because of taylor, it's made the weekends and watching football so much more

meaningful. it's just an amazing thing. >> reporter: dad's pretty pumped about the football bonding, too. >> now i can confidently say she can list off all 32 nfl teams without seeing a prop. >> reporter: and they're not alone. metrics from the first three weeks of sunday night football showed a 53% spike in female team viewers. overall throughout the season, 9% uptick of women watching. >> it's clear that this has brought dads and daughters together. i mean that literally and symbolically. it's brought many more women watching the sport. >> reporter: the nfl recognizing the opportunity, just announcing a licensing deal that will bring her football jersey inspired creations to the masses. granted this incredibly creative 49ers wife did get some help from a chiefs fan. it's not just pink jerseys and pop culture, the nfl promoting girls flag football, highlighting more women involved

from the side lines to the upper echelons of nfl organization, and adding just a lot more representation of women and fans. >> having young girls and women see that, i think changes the game of football for them, but also changes their perceptions about what women can and should be doing in our world. >> reporter: while this 49ers fan said, it was a great game, like stephen said. it was so clear to me that women are very much a targeted demographic for football ads. guys, there was a lengthy ad right before kickoff about a hot flash menopause drug. mind blown.
