they'll get there next year vegas thinks so. >> they're the favorites. so far that's exciting to go back. all right. we'll get to that in a moment. but first we want to begin with new details on the shooter gunned down at joe osteen's mega church. >> police in houston say the suspect had a criminal record and a history of mental illness. she entered the building with an assault style rifle on her seven year old son. that little boy was shot in the head and this morning we're hearing from his grandmother this was the moment gunshots rang out inside. joel osteen's mega church in houston. police say 36 year old janice moreno walked. in with her seven year old son and opened fire with an ar 15. an off-duty officers fired back. moreno. was killed, her son critically wounded, and investigators say moreno was also carrying a 22 caliber rifle, along with anti-semitic writings. >> there was a sticker on the buttstock of the rifle that stated palestine. a sticker simply stated palestine. >> authorities say the weapon was bought legally in december.

moreno, obtaining the gun. despite her history of mental illness and arrest dating back to 2005 on charges including assault, court records show. she also had a turbulent marriage, ending in a bitter custody battle. moreno's ex-husband accusing her of violence and putting their son in danger. multiple times. >> we do believe that she does have a mental health history that is documented through us and through interviews with family members. >> police are also investigating a youtube video from 2020. originally posted by moreno using a different name. in a facebook post, her ex-mother-in-law says moreno suffered from schizophrenia, insisting despite the anti-semitic statements found the shooting had nothing to do with judaism or islam. authorities are now working to determine a motive and how moreno was able to get a gun. despite her troubled past. we want to know the motive, how she got the weapon and why she did this. >> we're not there yet. moreno's neighbors say they've been warning authorities about her

erratic behavior for years. >> as for her seven year old son, who was shot in the head, he was listed in critical condition. >> our other big story this morning, the northeast getting its biggest snowstorm, potentially in two years. the same system brought heavy snow to parts of arkansas yesterday before it swept north. >> hundreds of flights involving airports in the northeast have already been delayed or canceled. >> residents and cities along the i-95 corridor say they are prepared. 2 to 3in of snow per hour are expected during the morning commute. >> we get the forecast details from accuweather's. melissa constanza. melissa, good morning andrea. >> we are talking about the snowstorm moving offshore as we go throughout the day, and it's making a mess of the morning commute. you can see that snow in places like philadelphia, new york, boston, right through the lunchtime time hour. and as the storm moves offshore, heading into the afternoon and evening hours, it's bringing in some strong winds on the back side. snowfall totals more than three inches in places like new york city, especially just north of town. and then as you work your way into southern new england, six plus inches in some

locations as andrea, andrew, melissa, thank you. >> despite the storm, it's election day in new york's third congressional district, which is holding a special election to replace expelled congressman jorge santos. voters will choose between former democratic congressman tom suozzi and republican mazie pilip. the race has centered on immigration, with both campaigns spending heavily on tv advertising. the result is important to both parties, given the small republican majority in the house . >> house republicans are poised to try again tonight to impeach homeland security secretary alejandro mayorkas after last week's embarrassing setback. the return of majority leader steve scalise is expected to give them enough votes for impeachment after three republican republicans defected, and mayorkas is accused of refusing to enforce immigration laws as migrants flood the southern border. the administration has called the impeachment effort a stunt, and there is new fallout. this morning over former president trump's comments on nato allies, warning he would let russia have its way with

dramatic rescue operation, two hostages are now back with their loved ones after israel or israeli forces swooped in and brought them back to safety. abc's james longman has more new images after israeli forces launched a daring operation to rescue two hamas hostages, fernando simon marmion and luis ha were choppered to this hospital in the middle of the night. >> after more than four months in captivity. just before 2 a.m, idf say they stormed a heavily armed building in rafah. finding the two men held at gunpoint on the second floor. the hostages rappelled from the balcony by israeli commandos, the mission, lasting 40 minutes. one israeli soldier sustaining minor injuries, marmion and hearr, reunited with their families at the hospital. joy and relief, but concerned that so many other hostages remain. >> they also remember today and every day, and especially now, all the other families that their beloved people are still back in gaza. >> massive air strikes across rafah during the operation, hamas says more than 100 palestinians were killed, and
