morning. >> good friday morning, everyone. i'm andrew dymburt and i'm rhiannon ally. >> we want to begin with the explosive testimony from fani willis. she's a district attorney leading the georgia election interference case against former president trump. >> trump wants her removed from the case because she had a relationship with a top prosecutor. if willis is removed, it could derail the entire case. >> she dramatically took the stand yesterday, lashing out, getting personal about everything from her vacations with the prosecutor to the cash that she keeps at home. and we expect more details today. abc's em nguyen is here now with more on this m good morning rhiannon. >> good morning. fani willis is expected to return to the witness stand today after a fiery first day of testimony. in a surprise move, the district attorney and donald trump's election interference case in georgia, fani willis, chose to testify yesterday, answering deeply personal questions. >> it's highly offensive when they try to implicate that you slept with somebody the first

day you met with them, and i take exception to it. >> a judge is considering whether willis romantic relationship with prosecutor nathan wade created a conflict of interest. if the judge removes her from this case, it could delay or potentially derail the proceedings against trump and his coconspirators accused of trying to overturn the 2020 election results in georgia. >> you're confused. you think i'm on trial? >> willis lashed out at defense attorneys for their line of questioning. i think in one of your motions, you tried to implicate. >> i slept with him at that conference, which i find to be extremely offensive. >> trump's lawyers claim willis benefited from her relationship with wade, a man she hired allegedly using his earnings to pay for expensive trips. the couple took together willis testified that she paid wade back, but there's no paper trail because she says she paid him back in cash. you gave him cash before you ever went on the trip? >> mhm. okay. and so when you got cash to pay him back on these trips, would you go to the

case involving trump the stormy daniels hush money case. that's a criminal case, a trial date has now been set for march 25th. andrew m thank you. >> a former fbi informant has been arrested, charged with making up lies about the biden family. the trump appointed special counsel investigating hunter biden says former informant alexander smirnov was lying when he claimed that a ukrainian energy company paid joe and hunter biden $5 million in bribes when joe biden was vice president. that allegation has been cited by republicans in their effort to impeach the president. hunter biden's attorney responded, saying republicans have built their conspiracies about hunter and his family on lies. the air is out of their balloon, but house republicans say their impeachment inquiry will continue. they say their case relies on more than smirnov's claims. democrats claim smirnov's arrest proves the case is a sham. >> an emotional gathering in kansas city last night to remember the woman who was shot and killed at the chiefs super

bowl victory rally. people lit candles for lisa lopez galvan, a radio dj and a mother of two. a friend said lopez galvan loved everybody. >> she was a good person. this was senseless, senseless and i hope that we can learn from this . but i hate that that god took such a beautiful person. >> new video shows people running for cover as shots ring out toward the end of the rally. police say the violence may have stemmed from a personal dispute. two dozen people were wounded, several children among them including 13 year old cash adams . >> i got hit and i pop, pop, pop. and then i just i knew i'd been hit, so i just ran. it stung, but i knew i needed to get to safety. >> still, he returned to school the next day. three children remain hospitalized, though last night, but they are expected to

make a full recovery. two juveniles are in custody for this shooting, and if they're charged, they could be charged as adults. >> now to an abc news exclusive. a texas mother is describing how she was mistaken for a criminal shot several times by law enforcement inside her friend's apartment. she's now hired a high profile attorney demanding the officers be fired. this morning, the road to recovery appears long for a texas woman who was mistaken as an intruder, then shot by police multiple times. >> i'm traumatized. i'm heartbroken. i feel stripped of my identity. >> on february 3rd, ebony pouncey says she returned to her friend's apartment in houston around 2 a.m, but her friend forgot her keys, so they broke a window to get in. a neighbor heard the noise and called 911. body camera video shows two responding deputies finding a broken window and screen removed . then they see a woman inside heading to the door with a gun

within seconds, the deputies opened fire. at least one reloads and keeps firing. >> i started seeing holes in the walls as i was standing there, and then i realize there was something coming through the apartment. >> pouncey was shot five times in the torso and leg. she says her wounds have left her unable to care for her daughter. >> she knows that i'm not able to do the things i was able to do before, and i'm not able to be as attentive with my baby, pouncey says she was armed when she approached the door. >> she says she grabbed her legally owned gun for protection. >> the window was broken and i believed i was taking safety precautions at that time of night, and so i was just trying to do the right thing. the deputies are now on administrative leave. >> pouncey wants them fired. the sheriff's department and district attorney are investigating. >> officials at the fbi say they

have successfully disrupted a russian hacking campaign that infiltrate the routers of more than a thousand homes and small businesses. they say russian intelligence services targeted interests in the u.s. and other countries to create a global cyber espionage platform. the fbi says it coordinated with foreign partners to lock out the hackers, a landmark victory for lgbtq rights. >> celebrations broke out in athens after lawmakers in greece approved same sex marriages, the first orthodox christian country to do so. the prime minister called it a milestone for human rights. >> it is time now for your friday weather. a fast storm wreaked havoc on the roads in michigan. look at this. a 30 vehicle pileup closed u.s. 23, and dozens of other crashes were reported. that storm is now moving across new england and right behind it is another one bringing snow to the plains. today, it will continue moving east and deliver snow from

founded the event to benefit wounded veterans. he sat down with good morning america and he opened up about his family and about flying back to the uk this month when his father, king charles, was diagnosed with cancer. >> how was that visit for you emotionally? >> um, look, i love i love my family. the fact that i was the fact that i was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, i'm grateful for that. >> i've also found in my own life that, um, sort of an illness in the family can have of a galvanizing or sort of reunify effect for a family. is that possible in this case? >> yeah, i'm sure i mean, you know, i've throughout all these families, i see it on a, on a day to day basis, um, you know, again, the strength of the family unit coming together, i think any illness, any sickness brings, brings families together . >> the palace is not reveal what kind of cancer charles has later on. good morning america, harry talks about living in california and also about the possibility of becoming a us citizen. >> they are breakfast products consumed by millions of

americans. cheerios and quaker oats. and now they're making headlines in connection with a new study on certain pesticides. the headlines have raised concerns and plenty of questions. here's abc's andrea fujii this morning a first of its kind study has discovered a little known pesticide is present in some common breakfast foods. >> kumquat itself as a chemical can be harmful if you're exposed to a large amount of it. >> a nonprofit called the environmental working group studied chlormequat in the u.s, the chemical is only allowed on ornamental plants, but the epa allows it to be used on imported oats and other food. the study found 90% of food items tested contained chlormequat, including quaker oats and cheerios, and most americans in a small group tested positive for it. previous research on animals found the chemical can damage reproductive systems and disrupt fetal growth. >> that gives us concern for how this chemical might also impact human health. >> it's important to note it's not yet known how chlormequat

may affect humans, and doctors say with its relatively small sample size, this study should not cause any panic. >> so we do need to take this with a big asterisk that it's not necessarily generalizable to a large population, and we don't yet know what the implications are for humans. >> so what's the takeaway? doctors say there's no need to drastically change your eating habits or to strictly buy organic, organic foods. >> by definition, don't contain pesticides. but i don't want people out there to think that organic necessarily always means healthier, and they have to do that, or they're doing a disservice to their family. you can still find nutritious foods that are not organic. it's just about knowing exactly what you're eating and making an individualized, empowered choice. >> the group that conducted the study is asking the government to mandate more testing. meanwhile, the food companies have insisted their products meet all regulatory requirements. rhiannon andrew, for andrea, thank you for that coming up, what we have learned about a massive explosion on a los angeles street also ahead,
