right now. kentfield picking up four hundredths. novato 100th of an inch tonight. san rosa a trace amount. you take a look at live doppler seven and you will see not one but two storms. there both level two's on our storm impact scale. and as we time it out while you're sleeping, the rain moves in at 4 a.m. as we head towards 9 a.m, rainfall begins to pick up in intensity and coverage by noontime, you're going to see some downpours. this continues into the afternoon, especially in the north bay, where the highest rain totals are expected. a high surf advisory starts tomorrow morning. runs until sunday afternoon. breakers 18 to 22ft, up to 28ft for the favored locations as the surf comes with some wind and the winds will be going up as we head towards the afternoon, peaking in that 35 to 40 plus mile an hour range. so it is a level two for tomorrow. rain, downpours at times 20 to 40 plus mile an hour winds, rough and dangerous surf is coming. as you look at the statewide projection through the middle of next week,

about a half a foot or more for the wettest locations, and that includes our coastal hills and the santa cruz mountains, which is why a flood watch has been issued for sunday morning until wednesday morning. flooding is possible on streams, creeks and also roadways, so we are concerned about road and stream flooding, especially as a holiday weekend gets underway. trees down, power outages, high likelihood as well. shall or landslides, moderate risk and river flooding low until next week. i'll be back with a full look at the forecast. coming right up. all right. >> thank you. sandhya we'll check back in the north bay. all eyes are on the skies ahead of storms which are set to drench the bay area. as sandhya has been telling us, first responders are ready for some overtime in p-g-and-e's says it is prepared to respond quickly to power outages. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard has a closer look at the preparations. >> p-g-and-e's says it's ready for the next series of storms to hit the bay area. >> we pre-stage a lot of the materials and equipment that might be damaged during a storm. that's stuff like poles,

conductors, wires, transformers, megan mcfarland says 1.4 million p-g-and-e's customers lost power during powerful storms earlier this month. >> but this round, the utility doesn't expect a direct hit. >> this storm, you know, rain, winds, low elevation, snow in some areas, but not those heavy sustained winds that can really damage our equipment. >> we've got the candles and the batteries out, but, um, that's kind of the key concern is all the power going down dusty road lives inside the nevada mobile home park, which lost power two weeks ago. >> on top of that, nearby armstrong avenue flooded, trapping some folks in their homes. dusty expects that flooding will happen again. >> i like this, that it reminds me go get the food i need, whatever it is that i'm going to need, because we may not be able to get out. >> in santa rosa, we found tree crews getting a jump on the weather, trimming limbs and branches. firstrillionesponders say more than a dozen homes were damaged by fallen trees during the last storm.

>> the grounds are saturated and we are concerned with the already weakened trees that even though the winds aren't necessarily going to be as strong, they could likely bring additional trees down. >> paul lowenthal says the santa rosa fire department will be up staffing its swift water rescue team. sonoma county fire district will be patrolling the russian river ready to perform rescues if needed. officials urge everyone to be safe and be ready again. >> it really highlights the importance of making sure that people are ready and prepared, not only for the potential for additional trees to come down, but for more power outages as well. >> and speaking of outages, p-g-and-e's are asking customers to charge their cell phones and have flashlights handy. sonoma county closed some roads in the russian river valley ahead of the storms. these are roads which have flooded before in san rafael. cornell bernard abc seven news. heavy rain in the bay area means the potential for three, maybe four feet of snow at lake tahoe and all the ski resorts earlier today, we spoke with kevin cooper from california mountain resort company about the conditions you can expect up in the sierra.

>> so the resorts are open at 100, and that's everything from china peak, dodge ridge, bear valley, all the way through the tahoe basin. they are open at 100. you need to bring extra layers up here because this system is going to come in a little bit warm. so definitely be ready to go because it's going to be wait, it's not going to be cold smoke. pow but it's definitely not going to be sierra cement either. it's going to be that in between. perfect to keep building the base as we march into the month of march. >> and if you're planning on heading to tahoe, leave before tomorrow's storm really hits hard to avoid the most difficult driving conditions, and you can track exactly when the rain will arrive hour by hour. in fact, with our live doppler seven radar, just search abc seven bay area in your devices app store to download it now, and you'll be prepared for the weather police in the east bay are searching for a killer after a woman was found dead in a quiet pinole neighborhood. >> the unidentified victim was shot to death inside a house on summit drive. that's a cul de sac off san pablo avenue. police found her at 845 this morning,

responding to reports of someone being attacked. investigators say they have identified a suspect at 36 year old jeffrey kendall as the person responsible for the shooting. they are looking for him right now. police spent the entire day at the home where the victim was found. no word yet on a motive. >> new tonight at 11, one year after the historic first african methodist episcopal church in oakland suffered a devastating fire, their leadership says they're ready to start rebuilding the church will host a commemorative event this weekend to honor its 160 year legacy and look to the future. abc seven news reporter tim johns got the chance to speak with the church's head pastor. >> monday marks one year to the day that the first african methodist episcopal church in oakland went up in flames. the church, which is commonly called fame oakland, is the east bay's oldest black church and has been a staple in the community for 160 years. >> this city knows us and we know them, so it's pretty devastating when that those flames went up, pastor rodney smith tells me one year on fame

is finally ready to start rebuilding. >> and this weekend they'll host a special three day event to commemorate the fire and the church's future. >> tomorrow, we're going to be doing community service at prescott elementary school. on sunday, we're going to be celebrating our traditional worship service, and then on monday, everybody, everybody come out. we have a grammy award winning artist that is coming for our gospel concert. >> even though the church burned last year, pastor smith says something extraordinary has happened since that time. he tells us through these troubles, his community has grown stronger . >> i was really afraid that people would stop coming to church. the very opposite has happened and we have seen more people since the church has burned than we did before. >> for that sense of community and service is fundamental to what fame oakland stands for, says dolly woodson, who was the first person to get a call that the building had caught fire. woodson tells me over the past 12 months, fame has kept up worship services despite not having a permanent home.

>> it's important that the community knows our mission is still alive. it's still viable, it's still going on. so the fact that that particular building on the corner of 37th and telegraph is no longer functional, the work that we have to do in the community is still going to go on a vision echoed by pastor smith, who says the future for fame is brighter than ever. >> and we're going to build back bigger, stronger and better than ever in oakland. >> tim johns, abc seven news. >> six years after a fire destroyed the clubhouse of the golden gate park golf course, a new clubhouse was dedicated. today, golfers joined san francisco's mayor in a ribbon cutting ceremony. the event also marks the reopening of the municipal golf course after a one year closure. the renovated course is expected to host 40,000 rounds of golf, a year. >> new at 11, two men arrested last week in connection with a mass retail theft from the emeryville apple store are also accused of a string of other heists they've been charged by the alameda county district attorney, charging documents

implicate the men in connection with at least six robberies at the berkeley store, with losses totaling over a quarter million dollars. the men are due back in court at the end of the month for preliminary hearings. a report evaluating those controversial center bike lanes in san francisco has been released. the lanes are on valencia street in the mission sfmta's 42 page report says the bike lane has met its objective in improving traffic safety. however for many business owners on valencia street claim the bike lanes have led to a decline of foot traffic into their stores in order to build the bike lane, sfmta removed 70 parking spots and turned them into loading zones and cyclists say the center bike lanes don't make them feel any safer. >> the overwhelming feeling is that you know, folks feel that the bike lane is not working. as a cyclist, i don't feel safer making a left turn or a right turn from the center of the lane. >> the sfmta confirms that it is considering a change to the center bike lane on valencia street in the north bay. >> the wife of the sonoma county sheriff has pleaded no contest

to a felony dui charge after this 2023 crash in santa rosa, 47 year-old natasha whittinghill ingram's blood alcohol level was greater than 2.0 when her tesla slammed into a home on beaumont way. the conditions of the plea include a 36 month probation period and 120 days of jail or a work release program. the sentence will be up to the court . california's governor is unlocking a new effort to tackle homelessness in the bay area. oakland is getting more than 100 new housing units. the $20 million investment is part of the state's homekey program. today. the governor toured this quality inn hotel that will be transformed into transitional housing. the governor says it's not just a capital investment. we need to cede some of the operational supports, so we provide a sense of community and place and continuity and confidence for neighbors that this is an added value. >> this is not a burden for the community. homekey projects are

being fast tracked, and this hotel will be ready in 12 months. >> the governor says the state has spent more than three and a half dollars billion to purchase 15,000 hotel and motel rooms in just the past three years, contra costa county has announced the antioch library will be closing indefinitely. >> the closure is set to begin tomorrow and will be closed until further notice. here's what we know so far. library administrator say the library is closing because of safety concerns. antioch mayor lamar hernandez thorpe shared a letter he penned to the county administrator with abc seven news. he says the city was never given any notice of the closure and wants answers on the peninsula. stanford university students have ended a sit in protest on campus after 120 days. this is whatrillionemains tonight. the students were protesting the israel-hamas war and refused to leave white plaza, the local council of american islamic relations says the students had a right to protest. however, the university says the demonstration became a safety concern for the

executives were also fined. trump says he is going to appeal the ruling. a medication used to treat asthma can now be used to help people with food allergies avoid severe reactions. the fda approved zola for allergy use today. an estimated 17 million people in the u.s. have food allergies. that can be serious. people who take the drug should still avoid trigger foods, but it will let them tolerate higher amounts without major reactions. the medication is not approved for emergency treatment of allergic reactions, but that is a big deal. it is in the south bay. >> the santa clara convention center will host the silicon valley auto show this weekend. this year is all about electric vehicles, and it's a chance to see the latest cars. of course, before they hit the dealerships, like the volkswagen id, buzz is an electric remake of the classic vw bus. you can also check out the tesla cybertruck or the new lexus gx 550 luxury suv. >> it used to be that when we saw electric cars, they kind of

on saturday and sunday from 11 to 11 in san jose. lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> we know rain could be an issue for those plans, and all around the bay area this weekend, but just how much will we get? >> yes. so let's get to meteorologist sandyha patel. she is tracking it all for us tonight. sandy. >> yeah, and dan and ama, let's talk about the two storms and how long they're going to last. so take a look at our rain chances. basically, from tomorrow, go all the way through the middle of next week. you're going to have to keep those umbrellas handy. have a raincoat and be ready for downpours at times, along with gusty winds. there's not just one, but two storms in the pacific that will impact your holiday weekend plans. here's number one and here is the second one. that second one looks like it has more strength with it, so it will bring stronger winds up to 50 miles an hour. as we head towards sunday afternoon into monday over the higher terrain. right now on live doppler seven, we're seeing a lot of cloud cover. there have been a few showers in the north bay that have measured. right now. the temperatures are in the 50s with

that south wind and the cloud cover. it's not going to get very cool. a beautiful view from our mount tam cam. and here's a look at the changing weather. it's a level two for tomorrow. moderate strength storm rain downpours at times. gusts 20 to 40 plus miles an hour. rough and dangerous surf coming our way 4:00 in the morning while you're sleeping, it gets wet. the rain really starts to ramp up as we head towards 9 a.m. it intensifies with heavier rain at times for the afternoon hours. you will notice that 2:00 you're seeing some downpours in the north bay. 5 p.m. there's scattered around and then the rain switches over to just lighter showers scattered at 11 p.m. tomorrow night. rainfall projections with this system very typical of winter time, about a third of an inch in the rain shadow. santa cruz mountains, which is san jose, all the way up to over an inch in the wetter north bay locations. that's just the first storm. winds come up 39 miles an hour at noontime tomorrow afternoon, getting up to 40 miles an hour along the coast,

even higher over the hills. and as we head towards the evening hours, it will still remain breezy. winter weather advisory for the sierra tomorrow morning to sunday morning, 4 to 10in above 6000ft. that becomes a warning as we head towards sunday afternoon into wednesday morning, as 3 to 4ft is expected over the peaks with those gusty winds, travel will be very difficult to impossible. so keep that in mind. 40s and 50s. tomorrow morning it starts to rain. the rain becomes heavier for the afternoon temperatures in the 50s and the 60s. we're going to fast forward to sunday. your morning is fine, but then by 1:00, the next storm moves in. there will be downpours. at 3 p.m. the downpours continue at 5:00, and really it turns over to scattered showers late sunday night with another batch of rain coming through on monday. there you go. so you're going to need to deal with the holiday is going to be a little bit rough with the wet, windy conditions. sierra seeing snow monday, tuesday you still have the rain that storms just going to park itself off the coast and keep sending waves of rain through all the way through wednesday

when all is said and done, that second storm from sunday through wednesday, looking at over seven inches in the santa cruz mountains, the coastal hills. for the rest of you, anywhere from about an inch and a third in livermore. all the way to over four inches of rain in the wetter north bay locations. so here's your accuweather seven day forecast. it's a two wet and windy tomorrow, a level two again for sunday afternoon into monday. chance of thunder then, and a one for tuesday. lingering showers wednesday and then we'll be ready for that break on thursday and friday. so dan and omar, we've got a stretch of wet weather to go for a few days. we're in for it. >> y
