everybody needs a makeva in their life. everybody. a weird mix of weather conditions causing lingering problems across the bay area. tonight a build up of rolling rain, lightning, plus gusty wind , and tomorrow it's rinse and repeat. good evening. thanks for joining us. >> i'm dan ashley and i'm ama daetz. the storm looks to be tapering off tonight, but it still made for an exciting mix of conditions with more on the way. >> no matter where you were in the larger bay area, there was a

rotating mix of action, everything from flooded streets to power outages, even a possible tornado chance for a short time on the peninsula. >> and we are not done. abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian is with us, following what's still ahead. spencer. >> there is still some ahead and we are happy to see that the wind gusts have calmed down quite a bit and the downpours of rain have lost some intensity. but right now, as you look at live doppler seven, you can see that scattered showers remain. continue past through the bay area, and some of them have brought some locally heavy brief downpours over in the east bay right now. and we just had some fairly heavy downpours in the emeryville area. but you can see now that it's just tapered off to light showers and up near vacaville, we've still got some heavy downpours, so we still have a storm. it's a level one storm now and through tomorrow we can expect more periods of scattered showers. it will be breezy but not gusty. isolated downpours may occur. a possible thunderstorm. um, here's the here's the forecast animation taking us during the overnight hours. you can see scattered showers, isolated brief downpours. that's the pattern through the day tomorrow. and a little bit later in the program,

i'll show you what's coming next for the next seven days. dan and emma very good. >> all right spencer, thank you. heavy wind gusts led to power outages and downed trees across the bay area today, which then led to other problems. abc seven news reporter j.r. stone continues our team coverage along the peninsula traffic at a standstill monday night along i-280 southbound in burlingame. >> after this massive tree came crashing down. initially blocking all lanes of traffic. no one was hurt, but the tree fell on a day where strong wind gusts and hard downpours were a problem. along the peninsula. >> it's all just happened so fast and it was like raining, like water just coming from everywhere. >> reporter vanessa contreras is describing this cell phone video, one that shows the water rushing down her street, something she had to walk through with her kids just to get from their car to their door in san mateo. i got soaked. her nine year old daughter, alejandra, had this to say about it. >> my little brother actually

slipped and i was trying to pick him up because he is a little he is a little bit heavy, so it was kind of harder and it was raining really hard. we got drenched, we got drenched within the maybe 30s maybe not even 30s 15 seconds. >> it took us from the car to the front door. we were we were soaked. >> the wind though, causing widespread issues appearing to knock power out to around 1000 customers near joinville park in san mateo. but it was very, very windy. >> you could see the trees swaying and there was actually sparkles and smoke coming on the on the in the middle of the road . and so that you can see that the power lines were down. >> it's the top wire here. >> five minutes down the road, the same story. >> and i saw the wire uh- my next door neighbor's wire sparked, um, you know, 2 or 3 times in a matter of, you know, 15 seconds or so. >> fortunately, p-g-and-e's got that situation under control. they're now working into the night to get power outages back online, just as caltrans is working to clear roadways. as

for the weather conditions here in san mateo on this monday night, we have not seen those hard downpours, but we have felt very strong wind gusts at times in san mateo. j.r. stone abc seven news in the east bay caltrans crews have made closures to fix a road impacted by the storms. >> this is drone view seven of state route 84, in sunol, where what's called a slip out occurred, and when the roadway gets eroded, the ground underneath it kind of washes out. >> then the pavement slips down right? or becomes unnavigable. so we can't have people driving on it. >> caltrans crews will be back out tomorrow to assess the damage and if the road can reopen elsewhere in alameda county, fire stations had to order more sand to keep up with demand from home and business owners picking up bags to fight off flooding and for some folks in san jose, power outages interrupted their holiday shopping. >> it also had business owners on edge. abc seven news south bay reporter lauren martinez is on that story. the owner of

sweet retreat and ice cream parlor in san jose said the power came on and off at least three times on monday, so power is very, very important for us, very important. >> it's our heartbeat. >> on john patrick said his biggest worry wasn't about losing customers on a busy holiday weekend, it was whether he was going to have to throw out 300 gallons of ice cream in the store. >> so anytime the storm come on, i always worry about the power. okay, that's my number one priority. >> after the third short outage, patrick's p-g-and-e's alerted him. power was restored, which was a huge relief. >> i feel so good across the street inside the oak ridge mall, power was out in some stores and on for others. >> a lot of the shops were closed, like we were walking and then like one part of the mall was just like completely out. so we were like, oh, one family killed, time in a food court. >> while power was restored at the build-a-bear workshop, i guess all the people just went

creeks in santa barbara county turned into raging rivers from the runoff. flooding on the airfield has closed. the santa barbara airport again. that's the second time this has happened in the past few weeks in ventura county, it's mudslides that have everyone worried. >> we're also keeping an eye on the hillsides, and they're saturated in levels and making advisories on evacuations if necessary. >> in l.a. county, flash flood warnings are in effect for the beverly glen area. neighbors are on alert in case mud starts moving downhill. >> president biden is scheduled to arrive in california tomorrow for a three day visit. the president is expected to attend political engagements here in san francisco, as well as in los angeles and los altos hills. this week, the white house says president biden will deliver remarks at an official event in los angeles wednesday before heading to san francisco. his bay area events are all campaign related. >> in the meantime, the south carolina republican primary is just five days away. away nikki haley is under pressure to make it up ground against donald trump in her home state. the former president lashed out on the campaign trail about his

legal troubles. >> we will have no higher priority than ending the weaponization of this, this horrible legal system that has developed around us. it's a horrible, horrible thing that's taking place. >> trump, of course, referring to last week's $355 million civil fine in the new york fraud case against the trump organization. he also lashed out against a judge who set his first of four criminal trials for march 25th. amid all of that, haley has made it clear she's not giving up the fight for the party's nomination. >> i promise you this on sunday, i'm headed to michigan and then we're going to super tuesday, states, and we're going to keep on going. >> a long list of south carolina politicians have thrown their support behind trump. one notable endorsement is from south carolina senator tim scott , a friend of haley's. >> hundreds of pro-palestinian demonstrators shut down part of the central freeway in san

francisco today. the protesters started at san francisco city hall, marching down market street just before two. they eventually entered one on one near the venice exit and stayed there until police and the chp kicked them out. the demonstrators are calling for a permanent cease fire in gaza. >> a temporary cease fire is absolutely not sufficient. you can't pause a genocide. there is only stopping it. >> the us is proposing a temporary cease fire in gaza to allow humanitarian aid to get to refugees there. the biden administration is also critical of an israeli plan to launch a ground offensive in rafah, where many of the refugees have fled, building a better bay area means acknowledging and facing our local history, all of it, to help shape a better future. >> and today is the day of remembrance for the thousands of people of japanese ancestry who were interned during world war two. february 19th, 1942, 82 years ago, president franklin roosevelt signed an order in response to the attack on pearl harbor. it led to the incarceration of more than

and tonight we are getting our first clue of what the effects might look like. the warriors have grabbed the all star baton from indianapolis and can start game planning to host one of the nba's signature events next year. all star festivities will be held at chase center, and what's now called the oakland arena warriors owner joe lacob received the ceremonial basketball handoff after sunday's game, signifying the end of this year's all star festivities. a group of key warriors staffers spent four days in indianapolis observing operations in preparation for next season's showcase, the 2025 all star weekend will be an opportunity for san francisco to cash in on some much needed tourism dollars. if indianapolis is any indication. >> so the projected economic impact of the all star game in 2024, in indianapolis, is estimated to be just over $300 million, up in around a bunch of homeless crooks in san francisco . >> when you. oh, that's. >> yeah, nba hall of famer charles barkley didn't do san francisco any favors by taking shots at the city during the broadcast sunday, a flood of

comments followed on social media. all star weekend here in the bay area will be february 14th to the 16th of next year. >> some big financial news tonight. capital one announcing it is going to buy credit card rival discover in a $35 billion. all stock deal. the combined company would become the sixth largest us bank and credit card issuer that would compete with jpmorgan chase and citigroup. the deal will, of course, undergo antitrust scrutiny. capital one says the acquisition enables discover to be more competitive, happening tomorrow, sentencing day for a popular utah mommy vlogger and her business partner after her guilty pleas to really shocking child abuse charges. utah mother of six ruby, frankie and her business partner jody hildebrand will learn their fate in the morning. now this all comes after videos about frankie's strict parenting style went viral as part of a plea deal. frankie and hildebrand admitted that they physically and emotionally abused frankie's children. it was a 911 call from

upcoming solar eclipse, delta airlines is providing an opportunity. delta is offering a special flight from austin, texas to detroit, michigan. on april 8th. that's the day of the eclipse. now, the flight will be operated on an aircraft with a specially designed extra large windows. it's also time for the best chance of safe viewing of that solar eclipse at its peak, spending as much time as possible directly within the so-called path of totality. huh? >> that sounds cool. all right. developing news on the north norcal coast. there's a 57 ton fishing vessel with an unknown amount of fuel on board. that's now broken apart. this is what's left of the aleutian storm. a week after it abruptly grounded itself on salmon creek beach, north of bodega bay. over the weekend, powerful surf ripped the hole apart. on friday, the coast guard stopped a salvage effort because a huge gash opened up, compromised the structure of the boat. >> right after every storm, there is a rainbow, often a brilliant white appeared this afternoon over the bay area, a welcome break, certainly between

the rain. >> yes, our own abc seven news meteorologist drew tuma caught it from our sfo camera. a much needed splash of color after a gray delay filled day there. >> and ama, you saw it today i did. >> i saw a rainbow, all right. >> very nice. yes. well, let's get a sense of how much more rain we can expect. spencer christian is here with that. >> spencer. okay. >> ama and dan. i consider the calmer weather we have right now our pot of gold in that rainbow. here's a look at live doppler seven. after a day of drenching downpours and damaging wind gusts, we have relatively calm conditions now. just a few light scattered showers. there have been a couple of isolated downpours, but not much is going on right now in the way of active weather. the storm right now is a level one storm in the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. through tomorrow, we expect more scattered showers. it will be breezy, some isolated downpours, possibly a thunderstorm or two tomorrow. but as you watch the forecast animation overnight, you can see this little pockets of isolated cells moving through the bay area overnight and into the daytime hours tomorrow when we get some stronger cells tomorrow . and that brings about the possibility, of course, of a thunderstorm or two. right now

we're looking at dry conditions mainly, and temperature readings in the upper 50s in san francisco, oakland, hayward, san jose, san mateo, san mateo and half moon bay. other temperature readings right now mid 50s for the most part at santa rosa, petaluma, napa, fairfield, concord and livermore. so on we go to the wind advisory. now, the wind is relatively calm now. most wind speeds at the surface at the moment are under 20mph. however until 4:00 tomorrow morning, there's still a possibility of strong gusts, so bear that in mind. we also have a high surf advisory in effect until 4 a.m. tomorrow. large breakers could reach heights of 22ft. and of course, this means dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. and we still have a flood watch in effect for the entire bay area until wednesday morning. flooding is still possible on creeks, streams and roads in low lying areas because the ground is saturated even a little bit of rainfall can trigger some localized flooding. winter storm warning in effect in the sierra until 10 a.m. wednesday. we now expect uh- up to about 18in of snow above 7000ft. that's additional snow

on top of what is already fallen, and gusts up to 45mph back to the bay area overnight. low temperatures generally in the upper 40s to low 50s. high temperatures tomorrow, with a few scattered showers and maybe a couple of downpours. upper 50s to low 60s. generally and here is the accuweather seven day forecast. so a level one storm tomorrow. we're still rainy and breezy. lighter rain and less wind on wednesday, but still some morning showers are likely level one storm again, sunny or drier. yay! on thursday. mix of sun and clouds on friday that will be a dry day as well, but over the weekend clouds will increase and there will be increasing chances of showers over the weekend as well. but at the moment we're not looking at a big storm. >> okay, sounds good. thank you.

treading lightly when it comes to being back in the title role of will trent. he says you can expect the show to explore a lot more of his character's identity , which began to develop during his tough life as a kid. growing up in the foster care system, we see these glimpses and moments of his vulnerability in his heart, and i feel like that allows him to then be the weird, sometimes off putting guy because we see that there's something beneath all that. >> yeah, we're going to be mining through a lot of that kind of stuff. i'm special agent will trent. >> you could be okay. >> while there is plenty of drama on the way, bombs got the wrong guy. >> this man was the target. >> you can also still expect some levity. >> he has a way with words, and it's very direct. it's kind of a quality i love about him. i think it's quite refreshing in a way. the guy just if he likes you, boom, you'll know if he doesn't, boom, you're going to know. and so, you know, that's a bit of his awkwardness. ramon is not only back in his tweed three
