had overturned. the crash remains under investigation. the parents of gabby petito have settled a civil lawsuit against the parents of petito's former fiance, brian landry, the suit claiming landry's parents were aware of petitos murder soon after her death in 2021, but chose to do nothing except issue a statement. >> both sides say they've reached an agreement to avoid a civil trial. the terms are confidential. the petitos and the laundries have also settled a wrongful death lawsuit for $3 million. >> the jury has been chosen in the trial of the woman responsible for the weapons in the film rust, hannah gutierrez reed is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. in october of 2021, alec baldwin was handling a gun with a live bullet on the set when it went off. cinematographer helena hutchins was killed. baldwin is also charged with involuntary manslaughter. his trial date has not yet been set. >> a new report indicates. commander biden bit someone at least 24 times. the german shepherd had been living with

fallout over in vitro fertilization in alabama sending shockwaves across the country. >> a major alabama hospital is halting ivf treatments days after the state supreme court ruled that a frozen embryo is legally equivalent to a child, couples desperately trying to have a baby and the doctors helping them are now worrying about criminal charges. this morning, one of alabama's largest hospitals has stopped ivf, fertility treatments after an unprecedented decision by the state's highest court. the ruling made alabama the first state to consider frozen embryos, as people. and now the university of alabama at birmingham health system says we must evaluate the potential that our patients and our physicians could be prosecuted criminally or faced punitive damages for following the standard of care for ivf treatments during ivf. multiple embryos are typically frozen to improve the chance of a successful pregnancy. but now, after the alabama ruling, it could be a crime to destroy them

. and advocates warn this could prompt other states to pass similar laws. >> what does this mean for us as a country? are people not going to be able to get the care medical care they need if they're suffering from infertility and you know, need to build their family? >> the issue now being discussed on the campaign trail, presidential candidate nikki haley indicating she supports the alabama court's ruling. embryos to me are babies. >> when you talk about an embryo, you are talking about, to me, that's a life. >> haley did not elaborate on what this could mean for families relying on ivf to conceive. like gabby goidel and her husband. >> and i didn't think that anybody would want to stop us from having children. >> observers say. as many as seven states already have or are considering laws that could define embryos as people. >> president biden is considering taking executive action to curb the surge of migrants at the border, a white house official confirms. they're weighing restrictions that could bar migrants from seeking asylum

if they entered the country illegally. this comes after house republicans blocked a bipartisan border deal under pressure from former president trump. but biden could face pushback from progressives in his party who are comparing the possible crackdown to trump era policies as president biden just wiped out student loan debt for more than 150,000 people, and he's calling the forgiveness a ticket to chase dreams. >> the move cancels $1.2 billion in loans for certain borrowers. the administration has already started notifying them by email. abc's mary bruce tells us who benefits now to qualify you must be enrolled in the president's signature repayment plan and have a low original balance. >> less than $12,000, and have been making payments for at least ten years now. this is a far cry from what the president initially promised, but after the supreme court struck down his initial plan last year, the president is well aware that voters and americans are feeling frustrated, and he wants to show that he is still trying to fulfill this pledge. >> biden's efforts to cancel debt bit by bit, have now
