expected, but it's one prominent oakland business that's not going to be there that's riling up a's fans. >> abc seven news reporter ryan curry looks into this brewing controversy. >> these are stacks of beer from local breweries. they'll be served at saturday's oakland fan festival. the a's used to put on this event, but now it's run by fans. and these fans are not inviting the a's. >> somebody's got to do something for the fans. somebody's got to do something for the culture, and somebody's got to give back. and that's what we're doing. plenty of local breweries are joining the event, but one already backed out. >> drake's brewing company, which is based in the east bay, told the organizers just a few days ago they can't be there due to unforeseen circumstances, as some suspect the a's might be behind the sudden cancellation. but the a's tell abc seven news they had nothing to do with it. and drake's isn't returning our request for a comment. >> they say the a's weren't involved or anything like that. but, you know, we've had another sponsor that was approached by the a's. um, and they denied their request to not be involved. and they're still coming and they're still going

to be here. >> this is the banner they already ordered and paid for. you can see drake's in the bottom left corner, but it turns out it might be a blessing in disguise because once they canceled other breweries volunteered to be part of the event. >> the response was just unbeliev. you know, we had six beer vendors sign on. we had numerous other vendors that that weren't beer vendors, like, i want to get involved. and we're like, well, we can't. we don't have enough room. >> that support is why festival organizers think this will be one of the largest oakland fan festivals in recent years. for months, the die hards have joined together to denounce the a's move to las vegas, while also celebrating the team still in oakland. this is demonstrating the resilience that is the oakland fan base. >> it's demonstrating the resilience that is oakland and it's going to be incredible. the new minor league team, the ballers and other teams in oakland will be there to engage with fans. >> there will be live music and raffle prizes. they want to make oakland a place where fans can get excited about the teams who call the town home, because the fans are doing it. >> it's going to be a lot more authentic than if a large, you know, organization was throwing

it for us in oakland, ryan curry, abc seven news and fan fest gets underway at 11 tomorrow morning, runs through four at jack london square. >> it is free to attend with free parking, but people are encouraged to take bart or public transportation. abc seven news sports anchor casey bratt is serving as master of ceremonies and developing news out of san pablo. >> police are searching for the driver of a red chevy malibu. they say tried to run down an officer this afternoon. police were chasing the car near alfredo boulevard when this happened. a police officers fired at the vehicle, apparently striking it twice. the car kept going, eventually making it onto the freeway and getting away. the officer suffered moderate injuries and is being treated. >> a frightening incident today in san jose, highlighting just how dangerous power lines can be . it involved two men inside a cherry picker working on an apartment building near the intersection of zanker road and bellagio street. abc seven news reporter dustin dorsey joins us live with the latest on this incident that unfolded over a period of hours. dustin yeah, absolutely. >> ama. that's still wrapping up

right now. as you can see behind me, we have those two subcontractors with the crescent village apartment complex. they got to be thankful that they're alive right now after coming in direct contact with those high voltage lines. and as i said, this situation is continuing. one of the lanes still blocked off here as the cherry picker, the lift has come down as you can see there as p-g-and-e's crews continue to handle this situation, one man in that lift suffered serious injuries and both of the men were transported to the santa clara valley medical center burn unit around 230 this afternoon. we're going to roll the video now to see the scene earlier as san jose fire rescuers brought down the two men, stuck in that lift. around 11 a.m, witnesses described a loud pop when one of the two workers hit his helmet on the power line. he was electrocuted and suffered severe burns to his arms and upper body. the helmet likely protected him from further harm. the other man suffered flash burns, according to san jose fire. the lift was stuck until just as you saw a little bit ago, suspended

because it was unclear if it was working properly. after the contact with the lines, san jose fire battalion chief mark thomas says there are strict rules that must be followed when dealing with overhead lines. >> one of the things that pg wants to reiterate is anytime you're working around any high voltage lines, you want to stay at least 30ft away. obviously, in this case, the those protocols weren't followed, so we weren't sure what happened there. now cal osha will take over from here as they continue their investigation due to a workplace injury. >> as you can see behind me, this line of cars here with pg and e blocking off one of the two lanes angkor road was closed for several hours until just within this last hour. we're just thankful right now that nothing else was more serious than the situation that we had right here today. we are live in san jose. dustin dorsey, abc seven news. absolutely dustin, thank you very much. >> san francisco mayor london breed says san francisco's image

is being unfairly tarnished by the attacks on san francisco. >> so have been, you know, just not just san francisco, but it's like viral videos about the bay area have been attributed to san francisco. i think there's a combination of things where san francisco just got beat down, beat down, beat down constantly with a lot of the narrative. >> some of mayor breeds comments at the commonwealth club this afternoon, she adds the biggest challenge to governing is running up against policies that make it hard to deal with issues related to homelessness and drug dealing. she says. small changes are being made but realizes people want quicker. action breeds effort to promote the city comes after a new chronicle poll that we shared with you found that 71% of those surveyed either disapprove of or strongly disapprove of mayor breed's job performance with his fundraising trip to the bay area wrapped up, president biden hosted the nation's governors at the white house this morning. the president urged the governors to pressure congress to pass a bipartisan border security bill. governor gavin newsom is in

attendance. he met with white house officials looking for more funding for behavioral health programs to tackle homelessness in the state. >> meta ceo mark zuckerberg is asking a federal judge to remove his name from dozens of social media addiction lawsuits against his company. zuckerberg's legal team argued his case inside a federal court in oakland today. the suits seek to hold zuckerberg personally liable for addict numerous children to meta's platform. zuckerberg's claims that he can't be held personally responsible for meta's actions now, even if zuckerberg is removed as a personal defendant in the suit, it will not have an impact on the allegations against meta, and a north bay widower is taking issue with facebook. >> he recently learned that this account had been, and the person who took it over posted a photo of his late wife with a phony gofundme campaign asking for contributions to pay for her funeral. now, months later, facebook still refuses to shut it down. abc seven news reporter karina nova has this report from

seven on your side on a daily basis. >> i am confronting her absence. >> richard links was struggling with grief over the loss of his beloved wife, catherine. >> i walk in here, i see her, i'm surrounded by her presence. >> catherine's death from cancer last summer left him suddenly alone after 31 years of marriage , but his grief tore at his heart. a scam made it worse. >> they have taken a picture of my late wife, catherine, and posted it to the fake gofundme page. >> richard was shocked to find this post on his own facebook page. it was a photo of his late wife over a caption saying donate in memory of catherine, organized by richard links. the post linked to this fake gofundme page taking donations supposedly for her funeral. none of this was real. >> god, you know, stab me in the heart. >> richard tried to delete the facebook post, but he was locked out of his own account. an imposter had taken control. >> i was absolutely shocked that

somebody would be so evil and heartless. just stop on me. why don't you and rub your dirty heels all over me? >> he was frightened and it was. it was so exploitive to exploit a widower in his moment of grief. >> my poor wife, she would be horrified if she were here witnessing what's gone on here. she would be so furious. >> the hacker was also sending direct messages to richard's facebook friends asking for money for friends had already donated to the phony gofundme campaign. richard used a secondary facebook account to warn others. it reached only a few people. >> i can't stand on broadway and fourth avenue and hold a big sign, his friends and seven on your side alerted gofundme to the fraud. >> three days later, the site took down the campaign and refunded donors money. however facebook has refused to remove the hacker from richard's account. >> we've reviewed your complaint, yadda yadda. we found

nothing irregular. it does not violate our policies. >> richard's friends also tried to alert facebook to their amazement, facebook kept sending automated responses, saying the account met all standards. >> how many of his friends complained to facebook? we were never talking to a person. the complaints go to an algorithm. the algorithm spits it back and says there's nothing wrong in this email. >> facebook told richard, quote, we reviewed the profile your friends reported and found that it isn't pretend to be you which infer richard. well, how about this mr. and mrs. facebook? >> these people stole my identity for nefarious purposes charges to this day the stolen account is still active. >> now claiming richard is raising money for prostate cancer when he's not. >> does that sound like it goes with your policy for seven on your side? >> karina nova abc seven news. now facebook did not respond to

black joy parade, an event she says is only continued to grow. >> our first year we were like, okay, it could be the ten of us who planned this thing, or it could be thousands of people. >> we put it on eventbrite and 24 hours we had 7000 people sign up on this eventbrite, and it doubled that day. so we had like 14,000 people show up in our first year, and it has grown every single year. >> though the parade is the centerpiece of the weekend, many meaningful events have led up to it, including this moment friday called icons among us, honoring three community leaders who work every day to lift up their communities. people like jamila hanif, whose goal is to break cycles of trauma in young people. it's the honor in this way in my hometown, it's still unbelievable. >> i'm still processing it, but but what it tells me is that people are watching. they're watching, and they're labeling me as a leader and influencer. charlene huey booker was also recognized for her work uplifting youth through performing arts and other avenues. >> she says her hope for sunday's parade is that people

valley in a lake that's formed due to all the rain down there this year, people are now flocking there to wade into the lake as well. death valley usually sees just two inches of rain, a year, but thanks to the atmospheric river and hurricane hilary, the valley floor saw nearly five inches of rain over the last six months. the lake is about six miles long and a foot deep. can you believe it? kayaking in death valley. they may have to change the name. you can't call it death valley. >> you can't. it's just not the same. all right, well, we've got a stunning look behind us. we do? >> isn't that gorgeous? abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel is here with a look at the weekend. sandra? >> yeah, and you know that the video that you just showed dan and ama, that is just wild weather. i want to show you just a stunning views of the setting sun, from our vollmar camera to our santa cruz camera. so take a

look and if you like what you see in the other two pictures is exploratorium and golden gate, then you're going to love the weather this weekend. so for the chinese new year parade tomorrow, it couldn't be better weather. it is not going to be raining, although i do hear that rain is supposed to be good luck. sunshine, mild weather, mid 60s at 5 p.m. as the festivities begin, the parade gets underway. the dragon parade at 6:00, clear and comfy 60 degrees and it is going to be a starlit night with temperatures in the upper 50s. later on at night, black joy parade happening in oakland on sunday. ama will be there along with julian glover and zach fuentes and it starts off dry. i mean really upper 50s. a little bit of cloud cover at noontime, even some peeks of sun, and it is going to be a milder afternoon compared to the morning, turning mostly cloudy later on in the day with mid 60s. there will be a couple of showers, but not expected necessarily in oakland. and i'll show you why. this area of low pressure has just been sitting here. a cut off, low cut off from the jet stream. it has been sending us some high

clouds, but that system, as it gets closer, we'll bring in a couple of showers sunday afternoon, evening and then monday everyone gets an opportunity for wet weather temperatures right now in the 60s, our high temperatures today in the 60s and 70. a gorgeous view from santa cruz camera tomorrow. sunshine and warmer weather sunday is cooler with those few showers in the afternoon and evening, and monday we do see those showers spreading and does turn breezy. let's take a look back at san jose's rainfall this month. yeah, it's been wet a lot of those days. enough so that we are in a surplus. just over two inches san jose. typically is in the rain shadow of the santa cruz mountains and gets skipped over. as you know, if you live down there or work down there, not this year. things have changed. all right. 8:00 tonight, 50s on your temperatures. still some high clouds overnight going into tomorrow morning. but those clouds will insulate us. it will warm quickly by saturday at noontime. you're in the 60s, well above average by a good 5 to 10 degrees. 3:00. you're in the 60s and the 70s, so it's

going to feel more like spring than winter temperatures first thing in the morning, 30 to 50. we'll call it partly cloudy tomorrow afternoon. bright sunny day getting up to 74 in our warmest spot like san jose, 68 in the city, 70 in oakland, 72. santa rosa, 70 degrees in concord and 71 degrees in livermore. sunday clouds start to roll in 3:00 in the afternoon. you see those isolated showers? five to late night hours, mainly in the north bay. and then those showers will begin to spread to other parts of the bay area. so by monday night we are talking about rainfall that will range from a few hundredths to about 2/10 of an inch. here's your accuweather seven day forecast. you have got a gorgeous day tomorrow. get outside, enjoy the warmth. you're going to feel it. sunday is cooler, a few showers, nothing major. one for monday and then a short break. and then we get back into a level one. thursday into friday friday system looks like it's going to bring us widespread rain. >> ama and dan okay, back in it. yes, back in it, but at least
