right now, thousands of people are gathering for the san francisco chinese new year festival and parade. a beautiful day for a celebration. abc seven meteorologist frances dinglasan has more on what to expect if you're heading out. oh my goodness. customers lined up to support a san jose bakery that says it lost thousands of dollars because of a canceled tesla order. abc seven news starts right now. >> always live abc seven news starts right now. hundreds of

colorful floats are lining the streets in downtown san francisco as excitement builds for tonight's big chinese new year parade. >> the event is the culmination of celebrations that have been happening in the bay area for the past two weeks. good evening, and thank you for joining us. i'm lauren martinez. here's a look at the parade route. it begins at second and market streets, then ends at kearny street and columbus avenue. all festivities begin at 515, and theragonaradsteps off at six and lasts until eight. there will be a grand finale fireworks show at union square. well, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend upon san francisco to celebrate the year of the dragon. it's an event that participants have been preparing for weeks, even months. abc seven news reporter ryan curry joins us live from main and market street with a preview of the big event. ryan tell me, what do you see? yeah

>> lauren. well, good afternoon and welcome to market street. that preparation is soon going to pay off as very quickly. it's going to have that parade begin. you mentioned it right around 515. that's when it's going to be starting. we're right at the section where you can see the floats have been staged there. now making their way on to market street, getting ready for the start of the parade here in just under 45 minutes. we're just a couple blocks away from where that location is, and you can see these floats. they've been staged here all day. now they're going down market street where they're going to be waiting. that official start here later on this evening. so many people already starting to line up. of course we are right by embarcadero bart. so a lot of people have been coming off public transit to get their spot in line to get to see the start of the parade. we already saw a lot of san francisco police officers clearing the roads, getting those barricades set up and making sure traffic is closed off around downtown so this parade can start safely and smoothly. of course, we also also saw a lot of people preparing their routines, getting their dances organized,

getting their positions lined up. so much goes into this every single year, and so much has to go into it right up until the start of that parade. and that's what we've been seeing this afternoon. and of course, you can already see the excitement, all these floats getting in line. and yes, you talked about the route starting here on market street, going on into geary and post and then on to kearny, where it then ends in chinatown. after a few hours after it begins. so a lot of excitement here on market street. and of course, you couldn't ask for any better weather. we finally get a little bit of a break in the rain. the sun's out 70 degrees. you can't ask for much more. so a lot of these people, anybody coming downtown to see the chinese new year parade, they're going to be in for a treat because it's going to be such a special evening for now. reporting live in market street, ryan curry, abc seven news. lauren. hey ryan, thank you so much. >> it is a really nice break. it's a perfect day for a parade. we're taking a live look outside and it's gorgeous all across the bay area. abc seven meteorologist francis lawson is here with your parade evening forecast, francis. >> yeah. lauren, we really lucked out. i've been in the bay

area. it always feels like it's raining during the chinese new year parade. i want to show you this live shot from sutro tower, the blue skies, san francisco, right now, it's currently 70 degrees. we're about nine degrees above average at this point. and if you are heading out, here's what you can expect over the next few hours for the chinese new year parade. so still, in the 60s, in fact, we'll see mild weather. it's going to be a starry evening hanging on to the 60s through 7:00, and even by 8:00 this evening, it will be mostly clear dropping into the upper 50s. if you're planning to stay out late, we're showing you some futurecast model, mostly clear skies until later on past midnight. and that's when things start to change for tomorrow morning. but overall, just a gorgeous day for the parade. we really lucked out with the year of the dragon, and here's a look at live doppler seven. i just want to let you know enjoy it while you can. things are changing and tomorrow will be cloudier and cooler ahead of a level one storm that's heading our way. and i'll show you that

with the accuweather seven day forecast coming up. lauren francis. >> thank you annie. police are investigating after a teenager was shot to death. investigators found the victim, a 16 year old boy, inside of a car on the 1700 block of observation way just after five this morning. they say he had been shot at least once. officers tried to save him on the scene, but he was rushed to the hospital where he died. investigators discovered the shooting happened about two miles away on the 2000 block of. to play away. no word yet on any arrests today marks two years since russia's invasion of ukraine. hundreds came from all over the bay area for a car convoy and a rally at san francisco's embarcadero plaza. they had speakers and performances to show their support to ukrainians. through all they've endured. >> remember that if we don't continue to support freedom and democracy at home and around the

world, it will fall. and so our message is, please help ukraine, because uh- congress is wavering right now on giving aid to ukraine. >> organizers say the event was held as a push to approve the security assistance package, which includes even more u.s. aid for ukraine. there could be a payday ahead for some california drivers. that's because of a class action lawsuit against a company that scans and sells license plate data. a trial is scheduled for may on behalf of about 23 million california fans. the suit alleges that digital recognition network has violated state privacy laws meant to regulate the use of license plate readers. the court says any resident whose data was collected at least 15 times since june 2017 will be included and even though the a's are planning to leave oakland, sports fans kicked off the

season their own way, celebrating themselves and the town. the big fans fest block party at jack london square drew thousands of people today. abc seven news reporter suzanne fan was there. yes. there's a pride in oakland, especially at saturday's five hour fans fest block party at jack london square. >> the oakland 68 and last dive bar hosted the event. >> let's go oakland. >> abc news sports anchor casey pratt was the master of ceremonies. fans enjoyed the music, food and festivities and connected with former players. it's great to come out here and be a part of it and just be around the fans who supported me so much. whether the a's stay or go to las vegas after this year, the fans fest was about having fun and showing support. organizers say fan fest is a celebration of oakland sports, local businesses and our community. >> it's incredible to get everyone together with last dive

mahan joined customers at the giving pies on ama avenue. you can see a line going out the door and into the parking lot. the busy day came after tesla placed a valentine's day order for 4000 pies. then abruptly canceled, stiffing the shop out of thousands of dollars. the story quickly spread beyond the tiny pocket of willow glen and hundreds of locals showed up to support the pastry shop, which caught the owner by surprise. i'm like the amount of support that we have received, it's beyond like a i didn't even expect it. >> and it's like, it's crazy. >> yesterday, tesla ceo elon musk responded to the outcry on x, saying tesla would make good with the bakery. well, we've just learned the projected winner of the south carolina republican presidential primary. how did nikki haley do in her home state? plus, the bay area librarian turned social media

she's remaining in the race and is pointing out the differences between herself and the former president. earlier today, she reacted to a comment that trump made at a campaign event with black conservatives in which he claimed his recent indictments have boosted his standing with black voters. that that's why the black people like me, because they have been hurt so badly and discriminated against and they actually viewed me as i'm being discriminated against. >> that's the offensiveness. that's going to happen every day between now and the general election, which is why i continue to say donald trump cannot win a general election the next primary contest is in michigan this coming tuesday. >> californians cast their ballots on march 5th, which is super tuesday. a big announcement today from a social media sensation. the solano county librarian who went viral for sharing wholesome and uplifting videos about libraries is leaving his job. it has been the honor of my life. >> i have made some of my

closest friends in my ten plus years as a solano county library worker. i love my friends. i cherish them, they mean everything to my heart, to my soul. thank you, thank you, thank you. but my last day at solano county library will be march 1st. mike threet says he's stepping away to work on his own mental health, but he won't be completely out of the spotlight. >> he says he'll continue his support and advocacy for libraries and literacy worldwide . well the stage is almost set for the kickoff of the seventh annual black joy parade in oakland tomorrow. the parade celebrates the black experience and highlights its positive influence throughout the bay area's diverse communities. it is the centerpiece of a week of events that include finance, seminars, brunches, small business markets, and open mics for creatives. yesterday three community leaders were honored at what's called icons among us for their work to uplift community cities. one honoree tells us what black joy means to them.

in golden gate park. that's not really on my list of things to do, but going outside is. and we have beautiful weather. >> yeah, it's a great day to head out this weekend to head to the park or to go see some stinky flowers or some nicer smelling flowers, and we'll show you why. live doppler seven satellite radar image shows this area of high pressure. that's bringing us the clear conditions in san francisco. but you see that low spinning off in the pacific that's going to change things up for tomorrow and even bring us some light rain on monday. for now, enjoy the gorgeous and above warmth temperatures that we're seeing in san francisco. it's currently 70 degrees, 70 degrees oakland 68, hayward 71, san jose. even 74 degrees in half moon bay, 64 from our east bay hills, we're looking at nothing but clear skies over mount diablo, and we're still seeing some 70s out there in santa rosa at 72 petaluma. one of the cooler spots at 66 napa and fairfield at 70. concord and livermore in the upper 60s. so temperatures are about 1 to 7 degrees warmer

than we were at this time yesterday. tomorrow things are going to change up, though, and it was a great day to head to the beach in santa cruz. so tonight the clear conditions continue. we'll see mild temperatures tomorrow. it's going to be cooler with more clouds and that comes ahead of some light showers which arrive in the bay area monday. but it's not looking like much at this point, so the clouds will fill in overnight. tomorrow morning will wake up to temperatures in the 40s and low 50s around the bay, so cloudy conditions with sunrise at 648, but it will still be another nice day to head outside and temperatures will be mild. if you're heading to the black joy parade tomorrow in oakland, we will hit the 60s by lunchtime. even though it starts off a little bit more cloudy in the morning, partly cloudy by this afternoon, and temperatures will be in the low 60s with a light wind. so temperatures tomorrow for the most part, will generally be in the 60s. san francisco on the

cooler spots at 61. also half moon bay, 59 degrees. we'll see low 60s in the east bay and some mid 60s. san jose will be warmer at 69 degrees. that's probably one of our warmest locations. and we'll see mid 60s in santa rosa and napa. so i want to show you the futurecast tomorrow. just some clouds. but then monday midday is when we could get some showers moving quickly through the bay area. rainfall rates generally quite low. in fact, we're expecting less than about a 10th of an inch. some of our models have some higher amounts, but it's going to be a level one overall. and for the most part, we're above average in terms of rainfall with the exception of oakland. so if you're sick of the rain, this is why. and we'll see. beneficial rain on monday. so just get ready for cooler and cloudier weather tomorrow. about five degrees cooler compared to today . breezy and some showers on monday. we'll get a break tuesday and wednesday, although it will be cool on tuesday and then a colder system drops in

highest paid coach in the nba. it's a reason to smile. deal should be made official soon. warriors host the nuggets tomorrow for a special 4:00 tip off on espn. now the warriors have won their first two games out of the all star break, eight of their last nine last night against the hornets. things got heated at the end of the game. miles bridges took exception to lester quinones get up a last second shot so warriors didn't turn it over. the warriors won the game by 13 and afterwards draymond green weighing in with 245. >> we took our starters out. go sit down. it's over. game is over. go sit down. they didn't want to go sit down. so if y'all still playing then play. don't stop now because it's 22 seconds left and you finally feel like it's out of reach. clearly we thought it was out of reach at 245, which is why steve took everybody out. i'm really sick of guys with this. like, oh, you scored at the end. rah! like, bro, you should have did that a long time ago. >> guys should always keep playing. and to me it's very strange why that would be offensive to anybody. i've never understood why that would be

offensive. and as i said, nobody's ever been upset with us in the past for doing that. um i just why why take a turnover? why what's, you know, the clock says keep playing. you keep playing. and that that shouldn't offend anybody. >> chris paul making his return to the court soon. but last night cp three made a big impact off the court meeting with 20 guests from 100% college prep, which is a program of the bay view association for youth providing academic resources for 8 to 12 graders in san francisco. paul has been a long time supporter of hbcus. he offered words of encouragement and gave out some nice swag during super bowl week. we told you about the charity event, joe montana participated in the four niners legend raising money for run freely.org. the goal of the organization, started by former espn personnel kenny mayne, raises funds to pay for prosthetic devices for wounded veterans. and here's where the money went. >> when was the last time you moved like that? >> at least 25 years. >> all right. how's it feel?
