>> we begin with breaking news in michigan, an industrial fire near detroit has triggered multiple explosions, forcing some residents to have to evacuate. >> the explosions were heard up to 15 miles away. the fire reportedly started at a distribution center in clinton township that houses nitrous oxide tanks. local police said 911 lines were down overnight because of those explosions. >> heavy flames and smoke were seen billowing from the fire as debris shot into the air, landing up to a mile away. and residents say they had no idea what was happening at first i thought it was like the next door neighbor doing something crazy outside, and then the wife was like, no, i just checked facebook. >> there's explosions going on, and i followed the plume of smoke and the shaking car. and here i am, and these are the baby explosions going off. there was much bigger ones going off earlier for at least two people were injured, including a firefighter. >> no word yet, though, on what caused that fire. we'll bring you more details as they become available. >> today is the biggest day of the republican presidential

primary. it is super tuesday, and the big question is, will a poor showing mean the end of the road for nikki haley? abc's ike ejiochi is here now with the preview. ike good morning. >> good morning. ryan and former president trump hopes to sweep the primaries today in what could be nikki haley's last stand as the presidential candidate on this super tuesday. donald trump appears to be on the verge of clinching the republican nomination for a third time. >> we could very well win every state in record numbers. >> trump leads nikki haley by at least 37 points in each of the 15 states holding primaries today. in a new interview, trump looked ahead to general election issues, including security on the southern border. >> people are coming from part unknown countries that you've never heard of, languages that nobody in this country speaks. who would think that we have languages that are like from from the planet mars? nobody nobody knows how to, you know, speak it. >> at a rally in texas last night, haley insisted she's the

only republican who can beat president biden. >> republicans lost the vote on mallorca. they lost the vote on israel. the rnc chair lost her job, and donald trump had his fingerprints on all of it. at some point, maybe we should say the reason that america keeps losing is because of donald trump. >> it remains unclear what haley will do next. she has no public events scheduled today, not even an election night party. she's expected to watch tonight's results privately at home. today's primaries come after the supreme court unanimously ruled that individual states cannot ban trump from the presidential ballot. courts in three states colorado, maine and illinois had ruled trump should be banned because of his actions surrounding the january 6th riot, citing the 14th amendment, which says no one who has taken an oath to support the constitution and then engaged in insurrection can hold public office afterwards. the court did not address the issue of whether trump engaged in insurrection, but it did rule that in order to disqualify insurrectionist

candidates, congress must first pass a law spelling out how that would be done. colorado's secretary of state criticized the ruling. we believe that states like colorado and states across the nation have the authority to disqualify, by oath breaking insurrectionists from our ballots. >> the supreme court decided otherwise. >> now, next up for trump at the supreme court arguments next month on whether he's immune from criminal prosecution in the january 6th election. interference case. brianna. all right, ike, thank you for breaking that down. >> our super tuesday coverage begins tonight at 7:00 eastern on our streaming channel, abc news live, 10 p.m. here on the tv network. >> the investigation is underway into a deadly plane crash in nashville. the single engine plane burst into flames after going down behind a costco near interstate 40. authorities say several people were killed, but they did not say how many. the pilot had reported engine and power issues as well. >> today marks two weeks since a cyber attack targeted a division of a major health insurer. it

had paralyzed some hospitals, doctors office, even pharmacies. and now reports say the company may have paid a large ransom. abc's alison kosik has more. >> this morning, two weeks after a cyber attack hit the nation's largest health insurer, crippling its digital network. experts say it appears unitedhealth group may have paid . the hacker group, known as black cat, $22 million in ransom the smoking gun. >> so to speak, was a publicly visible $22 million transaction on bitcoin's blockchain. >> united health has not confirmed the payment reported by reuters and wired. the company saying it's focused on the investigation and the recovery since the attack, thousands of mostly smaller pharmacies have been facing major disruptions in fulfilling prescription orders and verifying insurance coverage. they're targeting the health care industry because they know that people patient. >> it's they are especially vulnerable. they these these

organizations are in a position where they cannot wait too long before they have to pay a ransom . >> paying the ransom might help the company get its operations up and running. but it could also set a dangerous precedent. it's like training a dog, you know, the dog does something and it gets a treat and just does it again. one health analytical firm estimate that the cyberattack has been costing health care providers more than $100 million per day. rhiannon lionel. >> all right. alison. thank you. officials in texas say at least 3000 cattle have died in the largest wildfire on record in that state. more than 500 homes and other buildings have been destroyed in the texas panhandle , a new lawsuit claims a falling utility pole sparked that fire. >> as the biden administration pushes for a cease fire in gaza, vice president kamala harris met with benny gantz. he is a member of israel's war cabinet and prime minister benjamin netanyahu's political rival. the us is promising more humanitarian airdrops amid

growing doubts that a cease fire can be reached before ramadan begins. sunday >> it's been nearly one year since a princeton university student was kidnaped while studying overseas, and now we're hearing from her sister, who's demanding the u.s. government do more to find answers. this was the last known image of princeton doctoral student elizabeth kerkhoff, a hostage video seen on iraqi tv back in november. it's the first proof emma kerkhoff had that her sister was alive after she was kidnaped. both the u.s. and israeli governments say, by the militant group kataeb hezbollah last march. >> she looked terrified. she doesn't scare easily at all, elizabeth is studying in the u.s. on a student visa with dual russian and israeli citizenship. >> she traveled to baghdad for a research project, and her sister spoke to abc's joe o'brien. >> why do you think they took her? >> probably because they somehow
