and that breaking news a plane from sfo had to make an emergency landing at los angeles international airport in the last hour. air traffic control audio indicates a united airlines jet had a complete hydraulic failure. it happened on united airlines flight 821 to mexico city. you see that plane there? there were 111 people on board. everyone is okay. this is the fourth incident involving united jet just this week and

the third since yesterday morning. united says these incidents are unrelated and they are working on repairs now. >> one of those other incidents involved a united plane that veered off the runway at houston international airport this morning. the national transportation safety board is sending a team there to investigate. the plane, as you can see, ended up tipped as it came to a stop in a grassy area of the runway with one wing almost touching the ground. no one was hurt here. no word yet on what may have gone wrong. >> and we're learning the united plane that lost a tire while taking off from sfo yesterday is scheduled to make a passenger flight back to san francisco tomorrow morning. the plane is still in los angeles, landing today. that's where it made an emergency landing after the tire incident, which was live streamed by a plane hobbyist. earlier today, we caught up with one man who at sfo was at sfo recording planes during takeoff. >> people definitely see our live streams as like a comforting thing because let's say, take people who are scared of flying and they hop in these

1030 this morning. right next to a home on wawona street, not far from stern grove. abc seven news reporter suzanne fawn talked to neighbors and shows us what happened. well, water gushing into the air, surprising neighbors on wawona street near stern grove and pine lake park. >> robin cookston, who didn't want to appear on camera, described the spectacle. >> it looked like a giant tower of water about three stories tall. it was really surprising. >> and here's what it looked like from sky seven. the san francisco public utilities commission explained what happened. quote, the cause of the break appears to be the failure of an eight inch valve connected to a 16 inch water transmission line. the scope and schedule for all repairs, including for the hillside into the park, is still being determined. maxine shaw saw what happened after the deluge of water came down and crews turned off the flow. >> well, there's a big pit next to someone's home, so probably

there's, they're going to have to shore up the home. >> crews taped off parts of the area and were working on putting up fencing. >> so i want that fence line all the way down here. >> about three years ago, there was another water main break around here at sloat and 22nd avenue, about 700,000 gallons of water flooded stern grove park with mud and water. the geyser from that probably went up about 150ft. >> so that brought down a hillside and filled this whole valley with mud. >> the last stern grove festival concert of that season was canceled. show and other neighbors vividly remember that water main break and all the damage done. many can't believe it happened again. others say it doesn't come as a surprise. >> old infrastructure. old, old. this is, you know, old city. we're rebuilding all the sewers and all all the water infrastructure now. but, you know, this is 100 years old and we're not in the most stable situation. it's sand. they built

it under sand and they built houses on top of it. so it's not a it's not unusual that this would happen in san francisco. >> suzanne vaughn, abc seven news a separate water main break not far away caused a water outage at san francisco's statue university today. >> university officials say it has since been resolved and water service restored. they did not say what kind of water main it was or what might have caused the break at sfsu, state and local authorities are testing for a potentially harmful algae in oakland's lake merritt. >> they were alerted when rust colored water fanned out across the lake yesterday. the bloom produces a toxin that sucks oxygen out of the water, suffocating marine life. in august of 2022, lake merritt and parts of san francisco bay were hit by a harmful algal blooms. they are believed to have killed off thousands of fish. the test results from this current bloom could be released as soon as this weekend. >> it is international women's day and this year women's march was done in solidarity with the

it's concerning, but they're keeping an eye on it. all right, let's get a check now on the weather forecast for the weekend. >> it was gorgeous today. sandia fabulous. >> i'm glad you thought so. and yes, ama and dan, we're going to see some changes. it was absolutely beautiful today. let me show you the high temperatures. we got up to 72 in san rafael, san jose, up to 70 degrees. i mean, just so nice. oakland, santa cruz, vacaville, all 6867 in santa rosa, 59 and half moon bay, still pretty mild outside livermore and san jose at 67 degrees. as we look at some of the north bay temperatures, 63 in santa rosa and also in napa, high pressure in control of our weather provided us with the warmth. but a system is coming our way. it's very weak, but it will bring a few showers tomorrow, so on live doppler seven it is a quiet one. just a reminder, this sunday we are going to spring forward daylight saving time begins. don't forget to change your batteries. if you do have smoke detector that requires it. now. tonight the sun is going to set

at 6:10 p.m. look at sunday. it's an hour later at 712 and june 20th as summer begins. 8:34 p.m. so certainly felt like spring out there. beautiful view from our pier 39 camera. people are enjoying the sunshine tomorrow. hit or miss showers sunday afternoon evening. we are looking at widespread rain and mid to late next week. the sunny skies return and it will be warming up so it's a level one for this weekend. we're going to call it spotty showers tomorrow. it's going to be a quick moving system and it falls apart rain and breezy sunday night. and then the highest totals are expected in the north bay. so tomorrow is not going to be a washout in the morning at 5 a.m. the rain starts to move in. by 7 a.m. it's around the north bay. there may be a little drizzle along the coast, so even if you're not seeing measurable rain, there might be a little bit of damp roadways. so just be aware of that. 9 a.m. it's in the north bay, but we do see isolated showers near the coast. and at 11 a.m. it's there. it's pretty much that's it. not expecting much and a lot of cloud cover though in the

temperatures will drop. now sunday is a different story. by 5:00 the rain is moving into the north bay. 8 p.m. you will notice that rain crossing parts of the central bay and south bay gets it by 11 p.m. so once again, periods of rain for the weekend when all is said and done by sunday night, a few hundredths in the south bay all the way to a half an inch in the north bay. this does turn to snow in the mountains, where a winter storm watch goes up. sunday at 11 a.m. runs until 11 a.m, tuesday up to two feet for the peaks 10 to 18in above 5000ft. so travel may be difficult. if you have plans, best to go up tomorrow morning. temperatures 30s and 40s a lot of cloud cover. the showers begin in the north bay and then tomorrow afternoon we'll call it cooler than today. upper 50s to the mid 60s. a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. spotty light showers, level one for tomorrow. it's a one on oscar sunday, but it's mainly an evening event. don't forget we actually lose that hour of sleep , but we gain that hour of daylight monday morning. early showers and the nighttime chance. and then on tuesday we

yeah. and download it now. well, the golden state warriors had their full squad healthy for a grand total of one game wednesday night in a blowout win over the bucks. then last night, steph curry left late in the fourth quarter. and what turned into a loss to the bulls. the warriors star rolled his ankle on a drive to the basket. he's done that before. the good news is that according to reports, there is no structural damage to curry's right ankle. and it's not the dreaded high ankle sprain that he's had in the past . the warriors are expected to give an update on steph's condition tomorrow, after they see how his ankle responds to treatment. the hope is that steph misses only a few games and is back relatively soon to help the warriors make a playoff push. a blockbuster hockey trade for the sharks.
