lionel moise in for andrew. we begin with history made at the 96th academy awards in hollywood . oppenheimer was the heavy favorite for best picture, and it delivered, taking home seven oscars. >> but some stars were actually late to the ceremony because of protesters. abc's tim pulliam joins us now live from hollywood, where the party's been raging all night. tim. good morning. you're still awake? >> i'm still awake. rihanna. yeah and a lot of people are partying. the oscars kicked off several minutes behind schedule because protesters caused delays on the red carpet. protests took over multiple intersections in hollywood calling for a cease fire in the israeli hamas war, causing some stars to show up late to the 96th academy awards. at least one protester was arrested. the red carpet leading into the dolby theater was cordoned off for several blocks in every direction, with a security checkpoint on hollywood boulevard. inside the theater, al pacino made everyone nervous

with the way he casually mentioned oppenheimer while announcing best picture here it comes. >> and i see oppenheimer. yes, the biopic about the father of the atomic bomb also won best actor, best cinematographer, best score, and best director, and robert downey jr. >> won best supporting actor for his role in the film. it's his first oscar. his career has included a series of arrests for drug related charges and a year in prison. he thanked his wife for helping him turn his life around. >> i'd like to thank my. i'm a veterinarian, i meant wife, susan downey over there. she found me a snarling rescue pet and you love me back to life. that's why i'm here. >> a stunned emma stone won best actress for poor things, her second career win in the category, and barbie, the highest grossing film, last year, took home one oscar.

netanyahu's policies are hurting israel. >> he's hurting israel more than helping israel by making the rest of the world it's contrary to what israel stands for, and i think it's a big mistake. so i want to see a cease fire. >> biden warned an attack on rafah, a key city in southern gaza, would cross a red line that would leave open the possibility of the u.s. withholding some types of military assistance. but last night, netanyahu told the website politico that he will press ahead with invading rafah, saying, we'll go there. you know, i have a red line. you know what that red line is that october 7th doesn't happen again . october 7th, referring to the day hamas attacked israel, triggering the war. when could the fighting end? netanyahu predicting maybe six weeks, maybe four. in the meantime, i'm a u.s. military ship has left virginia carrying equipment to gaza's coastline, where troops will build a pier to deliver badly needed humanitarian aid to palestinians trapped in the war

zone, the conflict becoming a major issue in the presidential race. our new poll, completed after president biden's state of the union address last week, shows former president trump holding a three point lead over biden, but 30% say they trust neither candidate. >> we wouldn't be okay with this happening in a third world country. >> three alabama senator katie britt is defending her remarks during the state of the union rebuttal. britt appeared to suggest a horrific sex trafficking case unfolded during president biden's time in office, but it actually took place when george w bush was president. she dodged questions about the story yesterday on fox news, instead pivoting to biden's immigration policies. the liberal media needs to pay attention to it because there are victims all the way coming to the border. >> there are victims at the border, and then there are victims all throughout our country. >> but questions about britt's speech thursday even got the saturday night live treatment and like any mom, i'm going to

in serious condition. >> now to weather extremes impacting tens of millions of people and delaying spring break travel plans, the conditions ranging from flooding to tornadoes. this morning deadly storm wreaking havoc on the east coast. more than 55 million people are under wind alerts in the northeast and massive waves crashing into this causeway in massachusetts. these beachfront streets in new hampshire transformed into canals farther north on mount washington, a woman was killed after falling 600ft due to icy conditions on the slopes. the state has seen the warmest winter on record, and experts say that was a factor in those icy conditions. so it was warm. >> we had some rain. it was a wet snow pack which temperatures dropped and it got cold and it froze and became kind of a firm surface. >> in the south, a tornado tore through southeast georgia, winds up to 130mph, ripping apart homes, leaving twisted piles of

metal and mangled trees in its path. >> sometime between two and 3:00, we had a tornado that came through. it touched down in two locations we know for sure charleston, south carolina, saw more than 3.5in of rain, stranding cars in the streets. >> yeah. it's locked. i don't know why the weather also disrupting spring break travel plans with hundreds of flights delayed or canceled in florida, southwest airlines hit hard with about 1300 delays nationwide. >> we're supposed to leave at six. >> we've been delayed to nine. and my understanding something to do with thunderstorms and weather. southwest also blamed the delays on airspace constraints over florida during the busy season. >> some passengers were reportedly stranded at orlando's airport for 24 hours, seeing their flights canceled seven times. meanwhile, the other big weather story today the high temps in parts of the country. record highs are expected from nebraska up to minnesota and wisconsin. >> coming up, two airline pilots

party. >> here we come. good morning. america >> we're back with the british royal family. photo controversy and concerns that an official photo of princess kate and her children was manipulated. and it's only adding to speculation about kate's condition after surgery. here's abc's derrick dennis. >> this morning, a royal family photo raising eyebrows and suspicion. released on mother's day in the u.k, it shows princess kate all smiles with her three children. george charlotte and louis, in her first official photo since being

hospitalized for abdominal surgery two months ago. kate saying thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. the photos release comes just days after she was seen riding in a car with her mother behind the wheel. kate's condition still a mystery, sparking wild speculation online and on social media. but instead of quieting the lingering questions about her condition, the photo released yesterday is only fueling more questions. wide eyed royal watchers quickly noticed kate is not wearing her wedding ring in the photo, and charlotte's sleeve appears to be disjointed from her wrist. the associated press, reuters and other media outlets then retracted the picture, the ap saying it appears that the source has manipulated the image showing an inconsistency in the alignment of princess charlotte's left hand. >> it would be completely bizarre to my mind that that picture would be photoshopped. from everything i know about the palace, that is absolutely not how they work with photographs like this. and also they would

putting on a masterful performance yesterday, leading iowa back from the brink of defeat to win the big ten tournament. the hawkeyes trailed for much of the game. clark was held to just four points in the first half, and with about 2.5 minutes left in regulation, trailing by eight iowa's chances for a third consecutive big ten title were all but lost. >> the hawkeyes are running out of time. >> that's when clark went to work. she can deliver. iowa outscoring nebraska 10 to 2 to force overtime. clark either scored or assisted on all ten of those points. then in overtime, number 22, taking over, hitting a three pointer to take the lead. it's another three before getting a steal and a couple of free throws to seal the win. the three peat is complete. >> it just really had it all on the biggest stage. >> and, can't be happier for our group. and you know, this was the only way we could end it. >> clark celebrated by paying homage to the late kobe bryant
