yeah. >> paula alexander was one of the most famous survivors. and he passed away this week after spending more than 70 years inside of an iron lung. danny spoke with his family this week. >> yeah, and he became a hero to a new generation the past few months. after a friend helped him join tiktok, millions of people once again became enthralled with his courage, his strength, and perhaps most of all, his attitude. >> my name is paul alexander. >> i'm the man who inspired millions without ever needing to leave the machine. he called his yellow submarine. paul alexander, who was diagnosed with polio at age six and became an international symbol of survival, passed away this week at 78 years old. >> i told, hey, you might as well take him home. you know he's not going to live very long and so my dad probably said, yeah, we'll see about that. >> paul's younger brother, philip, was not alive just yet when paul became paralyzed from the neck down and spent two years in the hospital living inside this century old piece of

technology that helped his body breathe is how the dallas native accomplished so much with his life. he graduated from law school at the university of texas, practiced law for three decades, and then eventually wrote his memoir, three minutes for a dog, while pushing individual keys with a pen in his mouth. >> that's his pride and joy. is that that book? >> you know, that title refers to how paul was taught to breathe outside of the lung with a special technique. when he got to three minutes at around eight years old, his parents rewarded him with a bulldog. >> living in our world, and as you saw earlier, paul joined tiktok this past january and immediately became a viral sensation. >> this first video reached nearly 60 million views. did he know that he became world famous again with the new generation? yeah, but he didn't dwell on it. but in the last three weeks, paul contracted covid 19 and a stomach virus and was in and out of the hospital. he could barely hydrate, barely keep food down. but the last week philip spoiled him with crabs, ribs and on their final sunday together, a

is said prosecutors failed to provide enough detail about the alleged crimes, including accounts stemming from the phone call trump made to georgia's secretary of state pressuring him to find more votes. as abc's aaron katersky reports, the decision impacting trump and several of his co-defendants comes as the judge is poised to decide if the district attorney will be removed from the case. >> the judge said he would decide by friday whether to disqualify the district attorney. he's weighing whether fani willis relationship with a special prosecutor she hired to run the case posed an actual conflict of interest, or merely the appearance of one. >> trump is expected to attend a hearing in florida today as the judge and his classified documents case hears motions by his legal team to dismiss the case. after the three charges were tossed out in georgia. trump is now facing 88 felony counts in four criminal cases, a bill that could lead to a ban on tiktok is facing an uncertain future in the senate. >> this after the house voted

overwhelmingly to pass it. the bill would force the chinese company that owns tiktok to sell it in six months, or it will be barred from the u.s. now, lawmakers say the app poses a national security threat and privacy concerns. but creators and small business owners say their livelihoods depend on tiktok. jerry deliberations resume this morning. >> in the case of james crumbly, he is the father of the michigan boy who opened fire at his high school, killing four students. now, the jury will decide whether he's responsible for enabling his son to carry out that deadly attack. here's abc's andrea fujii this morning. >> verdict watch in the trial of james crumbly, the father of convicted michigan school shooter ethan crumbly, facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter. his wife, jennifer, was convicted of the same charges last month, the first parent in the u.s. ever convicted for their child's role in a mass school shooting. in closing arguments, the prosecutor claimed james crumbly could have prevented the attack but did nothing. >> there was one parent who

suspected their son was in the school shooter, and it was james crumbly. you know what that's called? it's called foreseeability. >> prosecutors say crumbly bought his son the gun and failed to properly secure it. and met with the school about his son's mental struggles. on the day of the shooting and decided not to take him home. >> didn't take him to get this care that a counselor is telling you he needs. didn't say we bought him a gun four days ago as an early christmas present and didn't tell the school the defense argued crumbly had no way of knowing what the teen was plotting. >> despite this video showing him previously taking ethan to a gun range multiple times, james crumbly had no idea what his son was capable of. >> he had no idea what his son was planning. the defense also arguing school officials did not consider ethan a threat, unlike his wife, who testified in her defense. >> james crumbly did not take the stand, is only witness. was
