pointing out problems, highlighting solutions and celebrating when they work. our first breakthrough tonight, leaders in oakland say they're seeing progress along a troubled corridor, and they're starting a new effort to double down on safety. the rise in crime along hegenberger road in east oakland has driven key businesses away from the area, near the airport and the coliseum. the closure of in and out made national news, and denny's wasn't far behind. a month ago, we told you about a new task force of east bay leaders brainstorming solutions to curb crime and bring businesses back. today, we were there as oakland mayor shengtao announced how it's working. she says car break-ins thefts and robberies are going down in the area. she credited more police officers on the streets, security teams assigned to shopping centers, and a safety ambassador program for businesses. >> we remain persistent and continue to do this work. i know that not only will we have the data to represent the successes we have, but we will have a stronger, a cleaner and safer oakland. >> oakland city council member trevor reid says she's talking

happened around six in the morning on january 11th. they found marley around here off anne darling drive and mckee road. the silicon valley crime stoppers program is now offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information on. >> one of the suspects is described as a hispanic adult male in his 20s, thin build and at the time was wearing a yellow weather jacket and jeans. and unfortunately, we don't have a clear description of our second suspect after the shooting, ten month old marley received emergency care at san jose animal care and services, got x rays, found that she was very fortunate, that the bullet had hit any major blood vessels. >> the community heard about marley's story and raised enough funds so she could undergo specialized oral surgery at uc davis. veterinary medicine. you can see that the bullet came in at the top of the snout, exited through the palate. the team at uc davis manufactured splints inside her mouth. she had to have for weeks, she's been in foster, and the foster parents reported that even with the
