right now to. we'd recommend using highway 13. use 13 all the way to 80 is what we're thinking . you can also use northbound 880 if you're coming from the san leandro area. we also want to get you a look at this backup camera. photojournalist steve stifter is on his way there. it was really stopped for quite some time. now you can see stop and go, but a lot of brake lights as people are making their way through that area of oakland. let's get back to the desk. >> oh, hey man, i'll take it from here. we'll go outside and show you these temperatures. right now we're in the mid 40s to the low 50s currently, so pretty typical for this time of the morning. but we do have our marine layer back with us to start out the day. some morning clouds, maybe a little bit of drizzle close to the coast underneath that marine layer, giving way to increasing sunshine later on. today it is sunny and it is mild away from the coast. we'll get into the 60s and into the 70s, a bit of a range in temperatures that marine influence in half moon bay at 58, but you hop inland. it's quite warm at 74. in

antioch, the same in san jose, at about 62. in the city, guys. drew >> thank you. an emotional night in san francisco as hundreds gathered to mourn three family members killed when an suv plowed into a bus stop. the couple's baby is still alive but battling life-threatening injuries at a hospital. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is here with the tributes from the community. gloria. >> a good morning, reggie. there has been an outpouring of support at the memorial in san francisco's west portal neighborhood since his heartbreaking crash over the weekend, and it now includes messages from the community and photos of the family killed. a mother, father and toddler died when they were hit at a muni bus stop on saturday. they were headed to the zoo. their other child, a baby, was last listed in critical condition. hundreds showed up for an emotional vigil last night in their honor, many saying the intersection where the crash happened is confusing and that changes need to be made. >> people don't know where to

walk, not to walk. you can see the lights are terrible. you people don't know when you can cross the street. and so there's definite confusion. >> yes, mayor london breed and police chief bill scott both showed up last night. the driver, who's been identified as a 78 year-old woman, is now facing three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving and prosecutors say they are analyzing toxicology reports and also the vehicle's operating system. before filing formal charges live in the studio. gloria rodriguez, abc seven news kumasi. >> thank you, gloria. today san francisco transportation officials will be weighing in on proposed speed cameras. 33 cameras will be installed throughout the city, according to the sfmta map. the west portal area is not one of the spots that will be getting a camera once they are installed, drivers will get a speeding ticket if they're going 11 miles an hour or more over the speed limit, that fine goes up the faster you drive. sfmta will be

voting to approve the locations in the next few months. speed enforcement cameras have also been approved for oakland and san jose in the south bay, san jose police are asking for the public's help in locating two people accused of shooting a dog named marley. >> there's a $1,000 reward for anyone with information police say the young german shepherd was shot in the skull in early january. they found marley and people and people crowdfunded online for marley to get specialized oral surgery. uc davis veterinarians manufactured splints inside her mouth that she had to have in for weeks. >> she's been in foster, and the foster parents reported that even with the device in her mouth, she still wanted to play. so they had to take toys away because she didn't remember. she had a broken jaw. >> the shooting hasn't dampen marley's sweet, well-mannered and loving spirit. she's expected to make a full recovery . >> a live look right now at sfo for at least the 10th time in just two weeks, a united

airlines flight has reportedly had a concerning issue, the chronicle reports. a flight from sfo to osaka, japan, had to return to the gate yesterday because of an engine problem. the boeing 777 was eventually able to take off. it made it to osaka. overnight, several of the incidents united has experienced recently happened on flights to or from sfo, including that plane that lost a wheel during takeoff and a hydraulic leak on a flight from dallas fort worth. we have reached out to united about the latest incident. we'll let you know when we get a response. >> your voice, your vote. election day was two weeks ago, but it's still too close to call for california's proposition one at the moment. it's yes on one. by a small margin, 50.1 to 49.9. there's less than a 20,000 vote difference out of more than 7 million votes cast. if proposition one passes, more than $6 billion in bond money will go to our mental health

treatment facilities, governor newsom says that would be an additional 11,000 beds. it could help accommodate the homeless population. >> and so you really saw low levels of turnout this spring. and that was dangerous. when you want to put forward an agenda item that maybe needs more disadvantaged and working class people voting, my hunch is that it's going to squeak by, but it's only a hunch. >> results will be fully certified by april 12th. now, the race to replace congresswoman anna eshoo is even tighter. former san jose mayor sam liccardo leads the pack with 21% of the vote. so he is definitely going to be on the ballot in november. but in second place, well, look at how close it is now. only 12 votes separate. these two. so right now, santa clara county supervisor joe simitian is winning over evan low. but it doesn't get any closer than that. >> former president trump is facing a possible financial crisis. he's having trouble finding the money to post bond.

in his civil fraud judgment, he was found liable for inflating the value of his properties to get favorable loans. amanda is at the live desk with more on what his attorneys are saying. amanda kumasi a judge, has ordered donald trump to post a $464 million bond. >> his lawyers say trump is financially stable, but even with that, he cannot find the money to pay his bond. they say securing the money is a practical impossibility. trump's lawyers also say they are facing insurmountable difficulties after approaching more than 30 insurance companies for help and being rejected each time, trump was found liable for fraudulently inflating the value of his properties to get favorable bank loans. he is appealing the ruling and has until next week to secure a bond if he doesn't find the money. new york attorney general letitia james can ask the court to start seizing his property. it's also possible that trump could try to sell his buildings to raise that money. but his attorneys say that kind of fire sale would result in losses that won't be able to be recovered.

say they have documented issues with the signature gathering process, and they're now asking the department of justice to step in. organizers with the protect the wind campaign showed their evidence yesterday at oakland city hall. they say someone could have tampered with the signatures, and they claim some petitioners came from outside the county after sending a letter to attorney general rob bonta. they now want to send a letter to the u.s. department of justice asking it to investigate. >> this is a broken system. you know, we don't expect that da price will be able to fix it in one year, but we also believe that honoring the majority vote is really critical. >> the county registrar says they will have to count the signatures manually. recall leaders have responded to these accusations, saying in a statement, quote, a broad coalition of alameda county residents, business owners, victims, victims families and concerned citizens of our

as loved ones and the community gathered to remember three people killed over the weekend in the west portal neighborhood. a couple on their young child died when they were hit by a car at a bus stop. their other child is severely injured. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is here now with the tribute to the family. gloria. >> good morning reggie. so many showing up to that vigil last night, including san francisco's mayor and chief of police. it happened on the sidewalk where they were killed, where a memorial of signs and photos now sits. many of the vigil sharing hugs. heartbroken about the death of a mother their toddler while their baby fights for their life. the family was waiting for the bus at a stop in the city's west portal community on saturday, when they were struck by a vehicle. they were on their way to the zoo, the tragedy impacting hundreds who showed up, including the mayor and the police chief who left flowers. >> just let the family know that there are people who saw their story and who want them to know

that we are thinking about them. >> police say the driver was booked on three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving. investigators say she was speeding the wrong way before slamming into the bus stop. prosecutors say they are analyzing toxicology reports and the vehicles operating system before filing formal charges. district attorney brooke jenkins sent a statement saying in part, i asked for patience from the public. as investigators continue to gather more information so that my office can make appropriate charging decisions. and friends say the couple were very good people and full of life that their loved ones have arrived in san francisco and others are on the way. live in the studio. gloria rodriguez, abc seven news kumasi. >> thank you gloria. leaders in oakland say they are seeing progress along a troubled corridor, and they're starting a new effort to double down on safety. the rising crimelong hegenberger road in east oakland has driven key businesses away

from that area. it's near the airport and the coliseum now. the closure of in and out made national news. denny's wasn't far behind and a month back, we told you about a new task force of east bay leaders brainstorming solutions to curb crime and to bring businesses back. well, yesterday we were there as oakland mayor shengtao announced how that is working. tao says car break-ins thefts and robberies are going down in the area, and she credited more police officers on the streets, security teams assigned to shopping centers, and a safety ambassador program for businesses. >> as we remain persistent and continue to do this work, i know that not only will we have the data to represent the successes we have, but we will have a stronger, a cleaner and safer oakland. >> oakland city council member trevor reid says she is talking to in and out and to other businesses, hoping to convince them to stay in oakland. about a mile and a half from that press

conference, police told neighbors to stay away as they looked for a person with a rifle . san leandro police say they got a call about a person walking around with a gun on doolittle drive near davis street around 1130. officers say the person had a realistic replica of a rifle. it was not a real weapon. >> police in oakland say the suspect in a liquor store clerks killing is a 13 year old boy. investigators told our partners that the bay area news group, they think the child committed another armed robbery less than an hour after that shooting. the boy is now charged with murder and attempted robbery. accused of killing majid al-hasani at his family's store in west oakland in january. police believe the child and another person pointed a gun at al-hasani. they say that when the clerk tried to grab the gun, the boy pulled the trigger, killing the father of four, the bay area news group reports the child is oakland's youngest murder suspect in recent memory, and is also a suspect in two more robberies.

>> community members are backing san francisco mayor london breeds call for the release of surveillance video in the death of a 63 year old chinese immigrant, police say. last july, a woman shoved yang yanfeng wu to the ground. officers recently reopened that case because of new evidence, but they won't say what that evidence is. meanwhile, last week, officers arrested thea hopkins in connection with an assault on a 71 year old chinese woman in the bay view community members believe hopkins may be connected to the incident. in july because of some similarities between the two attacks. however police won't say if that's the case because the asian community has been living, you know, with, fear, this type of fear for way too long. >> i also understand that the police has to do and has to conduct a fair investigation. >> mayor breed is calling for police to release the surveillance video. the chief responded, saying they will do so after the investigation is

complete. as long as it does not interfere with the potential prosecution. >> another former san francisco official has been sentenced to federal prison as part of an fbi investigation into corruption at city hall, former public utilities commission chief harlan kelly was sentenced yesterday. sentenced yesterday to four years in prison. last year, kelly was found guilty of fraud. prosecutors said he accepted bribes and misrepresented debts in a loan application. kelly oversaw an annual budget of $1 billion. the judge also sentenced kelly to three years of supervised release and community service. kelly apologized for his actions. >> a defense attorney who was attacked by the man he was representing in court yesterday, says he will be back in the courtroom to continue defending him today. it happened inside a martinez courtroom. the defense attorney was stabbed in the face and in the head when his client broke free from his restraints and grabbed the attorney's pen. that man then charged at the

prosecutor before he was taken down by a sheriff's deputy. the attack was witnessed by the jury, who will soon decide the man's guilt. he's accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend. the attack attorney told our media partners that the bay area news group that it was, quote, no big deal and says he plans on being back in court to represent his client today. >> new at six. the former santa clara county sheriff has lost an appeal of a civil corruption case that disqualified her from public office in 2022. lori smith was found guilty on six corruption and misconduct counts . she argued that because she retired before the conviction, the proceedings that disqualified her from public service were no longer necessary. but appellate judges disagreed in a ruling last week. smith has not commented on that ruling. today. >> a civil rights complaint has been filed by the anti-defamation league and brandeis center against the berkeley unified school district. it comes after recent allegations of anti-semitism at uc berkeley's campus. the

complaint claims the school district ignored severe and persistent harassment of jewish students in berkeley schools, and also claims students have had to, quote, endure anti-semitic teacher rants in the months after the war between israel and gaza began. >> people are like saying and passing in the hallways is like, oh, what side are you on? because i don't want to pick a side like, this is like it's a really complicated, like thing that's going on. and it's not so black and white as the school is teaching it and as everybody is like learning it. >> since the claim was filed, one teacher has been put on administrative leave. >> president biden is taking action to expand research into women's health. he signed an executive order fueling new research and looking into gaps in federal funding. for most of medical history, scientific study has been based on men's bodies. the president says his order will help fill gaps in our understanding of how to treat common health conditions in women. >> think of all the breakthroughs we've made in medicine across the board, but women have not been the focus.
