a protest encampment on sproul plaza at uc berkeley has grown to around 70. participants are calling this the free palestine camp, and have called on the university of california to divest from companies that have stakes in israel. students say they are willing to risk being expelled from cal and arrested by police, university officials say the encampment is peaceful and there are no plans to change uc's investments. >> a video came out today of a young man from berkeley who is being held hostage by hamas, 24 year old hirsh goldberg. poland was one of hundreds taken hostage by hamas during the october seventh attack in israel, and he's still being held captive today. a heavily edited video of him was released on a hamas run telegram channel. hirsch's parents, john poland and rachel goldberg, say they want the world to see this video. >> seeing a video of hirsh today is overwhelming. we're relieved to see him alive, but we are also concerned about his health and well-being. >> we heard your voice today for

with valencia street recently in the mission district, putting bike lanes in the middle of the road for safety reasons. business owners there say business has been down dramatically since the changes. there are now worries of the same problems here in west portal. >> like this was a knee jerk reaction to a terrible tragedy. needs a little more thought. >> this is a really dramatic change. and they put it out and they said, there's ten days of comment that's really inappropriate. >> how does that prevent someone from speeding or going up on a sidewalk? so even though they want to change the street, it wouldn't prevent anyone from doing exactly what the lady who crashed into that family of four did. so i don't see the connection. >> those with the sfmta say on the direction of mayor london breed and supervisor myrna melgar, they are moving quickly on this plan and will work closely with merchants to make sure their needs are met in san francisco. j.r. stone, abc seven news. >> friends of the family of four killed in last month's wrong-way

beginning tomorrow, and this windy pattern is going to stick around. on friday, i'll be back with an hourly look at when you might see a shower or two, and the changes that are ahead for the weekend that will make you guys smile. dan like hearing that. >> thank you, cynthia, very much to the peninsula now. and a neighborhood rattled awake this morning by an explosion. a police spent hours trying to figure out the true cause of what happened. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez has the story. >> home surveillance video captures an explosion rattling a daly city neighborhood. authorities say. on wednesday morning, the blast blew apart a toyota sedan parked off west line drive. >> i was just like a big bam right on. and i thought something had dropped on top of a building. >> around 1015, glen barrientos was getting help unloading lumber outside his home when he heard the explosion from blocks away. whoa. what the hell was

that? he said even though it was quick, it was powerful. >> it was loud. i mean, people heard it all the way up the block. everybody just went out at the same time. our neighbor kind of said, what was that? was that an earthquake? >> the fbi bomb squad and daly city police spent hours looking over the wreckage. different items were pulled out of the car, including a propane tank. by wednesday afternoon, police said the explosion appears to be accidental. >> it was just kind of weird why you would have a propane tank in a car like that sitting there. it's not hot temperature. you're trying to think of what things could detonate a propane tank. >> daly city police say the investigation is ongoing, but it does not appear anyone was located in or around the vehicle with injuries. >> you know, the times we're in with everything going on, it is kind of unsettling. >> barrientos said. people commonly park there to be close to the cliffs, to fish or catch a sunset. but he didn't recognize this particular car, police said. it appears this was an isolated incident and there are no ongoing threats to the

larry beil is here with the key decision for the red and gold. >> larry, the 40 niners have the 31st pick in round one of the nfl draft. so do they move up or do they move down? do they trade brandon aiyuk? who wants a new contract? he's done all the usual stuff removing niners references from his social media accounts, standard operating procedure these days for disgruntled players, the assumption is that aiyuk wants about $25 million a year. although i'm on ross saint brown got a deal from the detroit lions today averaging 30 mil per year, but not all of that money is guaranteed, which, you know, the niners are mentioning to iwc's agents. niners have a tradition of resigning their players just before training camp, but that is months away. so do they wait it out with aiyuk and hope a deal gets done? or do they trade him for maybe a first round pick? if the niners stand pat, they'd be expected to take an offensive or defensive lineman with pick number 31. so will brandon aiyuk end up a 40 niner after round one tomorrow? we'll still be on the team. we'll find out tomorrow night starting 5 p.m. here on abc

more than 100 year old law that bans almost all abortions today. the repeal won approval in the state house after three republicans joined in, with all 29 democrats. each of the repeal attempts in the last two weeks had been voted down. now, if this attempt is successful, arizona would allow abortions up to 15 weeks after conception. >> california governor gavin newsom wants to give arizona doctors authority to perform abortions in california. governor newsom says it's a direct response to the arizona supreme court's decision that upheld that historic abortion ban. even if arizona repeals that law, bay area abortion
