that's what we're seeing right now. sonoma is at 43, danville is at 47. so take the jacket with you. but later on this afternoon it is going to feel warm with that sunshine. so here's a look at the forecast. we'll begin along the coast a little bit of cloud cover right now. but you can see we quickly find sunshine. and we're in that sunny weather all afternoon. so the coast is lovely right around 60 degrees for a daytime high around the bay shoreline. you can see that lack of fog this morning. it is bright and that will lead to temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s. by about 4:00 and then inland. today it is a warm one. it is bright from the get go into the afternoon. you'll find those temperatures above average upper 70s to the lower 80s for daytime highs. let's check in with amanda. see the commutes going this morning. >> good morning. good morning drew. yeah. as you get ready to hit the road weekend road work on highway 37 in the north bay and then 680 in the pleasanton area that has wrapped up and the roads have reopened for the morning. and then here at the live desk, i have an update to breaking news that i am tracking this morning. within the last 20

minutes, israel's foreign minister has responded to a move by the international criminal court's top prosecutor, calling his request for an arrest warrant for prime minister benjamin netanyahu and other israeli leaders a, quote, historic disgrace and vowing to fight back. we've been tracking this all morning before 5 a.m, the top prosecutor announced the request for arrest warrants for netanyahu, the top leader of hamas, and others. he cited war crimes and crimes against humanity for what is happening in gaza. in a statement, the prosecutor called for the immediate release of all hostages. a panel of icc judges will now consider the application for the arrest warrants. the warrants against the israeli politicians marked the first time the icc has targeted the top leader of a close ally of the united states. it is not clear when a decision could be made back to you at the desk. >> thanks, amanda. we are tracking developing news out of iran this morning. the country's president, foreign minister, and several others have been killed

in a helicopter crash. they were traveling to an event when the helicopter went down in a rural area overnight. the white house says president biden has been briefed on this situation. senate majority leader chuck schumer says there is no evidence of foul play. >> it looks like an accident. there was very bad foggy weather in northwest iran, where the copter crashed in iran. >> the president is the second most powerful political figure after supreme leader ayatollah ali khamenei. the ayatollah vowing there will be no interruption to government affairs. >> developing news in the south bay a person is in the hospital after being shot by san jose police investigators say this all started when they got a call of a man firing a gun in the neighborhood, prompting officers to open fire. abc seven news reporter lena howland is live at police headquarters. is what we know right now. lena >> reggie, we know that one man is in the hospital with life

threatening injuries this morning after being shot by san jose police. police tell us that they responded to the area along comer drive in eas san jose this is right near the intersection of story road and the capital expressway. police tell us this call first came in right around 4:00 yesterday afternoon, with reports of a man shooting a firearm. san jose police claim the suspect was still shooting a firearm when they arrived on scene. they say the suspect was hit by officer gunfire and taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and that no officers were shot. police giving this brief update on scene video evidence. >> we have to review body worn camera video that we have to look at witnesses we have to interview as well as the officers have yet to be interviewed. so there's still a lot of information we don't know. we're learning things as they're developing at this time. we don't think there's any other injuries other than the suspect, but we are still canvasing, combing through evidence to determine whether or not there are additional victims. and we're asking the public if they

saw anything or if they were involved at all prior to police arrival, to please contact the police department. >> we also spoke with a neighbor living in the apartment complex where the shooting happened. he says he was on his way home when police were arriving and just cop after cop after cop. >> so, i didn't think they were going to be here though. so when i made the corner came in and i seen everything taped off, it was actually pretty, pretty crazy. it was a little bizarre scene of seeing all the cop cars come here. you know, i have, actually another daughter, so it's a little concerning because they're both little girls and we were constantly taking walks, and, it's a little alarming to know that that happened here >> and police say they will be holding a press conference sometime later today with more information about what happened. live in san jose. lena howland, abc seven news. >> lena. thank you. a sidewalk mural originally made to oppose israel's military campaign in

gaza is being defaced by hate speech in san francisco's noe valley neighborhood. the mural is on a building near nowy street and 24th street. it's been vandalized repeatedly since its creation, with messages that appear to support both pro-israeli and pro-palestinian positions. at least one parent from a nearby daycare told us they don't think it's right that their children have to see these images every day. some neighbors we spoke to disagree, and they don't want the mural touched. the jewish community relations council says they have received numerous complaints about this mural. >> the message is outrageous to form a blood libel against the jewish community. the bloody visuals, the droppings star of david replace the star with a dollar sign. it's a classic trope that jews control the government or some form of manipulation, and it reads like textbook anti-semitism. >> as to what comes next, that's unclear. the mural is on private property and we were unable to reach the owner. regarding his future plans, our media partners

at the sf standard report that supervisor representing the district, rafael mandelman, is aware of the defacements and is working with sfpd. our request for comment to supervisor edelman's office were not returned. >> a federal judge is reopening the sentencing of david depape on friday. depape was given 30 years as a sentence in prison after being convicted of attacking congresswoman nancy pelosi's husband, paul, with a hammer at their san francisco home. now, the judge says they will review his sentence again because he didn't get a chance to speak during the sentencing hearing. a new sentencing hearing has been set for tuesday, may 28th. >> happening today, 2000 uc santa cruz graduate student workers say they're planning to strike. their union says the uc system violated people's rights in the way that it handled pro-palestinian protests on campus. university of california officials say the action is in violation of the union's contract, and is asking a state board to issue a cease and desist order. this is likely the first in a series of strikes

across uc campuses in the coming weeks. >> that follows the charged commencement ceremony at sonoma state saturday. a group of pro palestinian protesters staged a silent demonstration during graduation, a line of law enforcement blocked the group from the commencement stage. it capped off a tense week for sonoma state. the university's president abruptly retired on friday, a day after the csu chancellor put him on leave for insubordination because of an agreement he made with student protesters. you can keep up with our continuing coverage of the college protests of the war in gaza. you can get the latest anytime at abc7 news.com. >> 609 as we get you ready on this monday, here's a live look in san jose with mainly clear skies. the airport is reporting a few clouds out there. a current temperature uh- 52 degrees. visibility is good and the winds are light. so taking a look at what to expect for the

week ahead, we have a warming trend over the next couple of days. underneath that warming trend, it's limited morning clouds and some warm days. our warmest day will be tuesday this week, so here's future weather. any patchy fog we have right now and it's very limited is gone by 8 a.m. and that means with full sunshine we warm pretty quickly mid 60s mid 70s by lunchtime. and then later on today even along the coast we see full sunshine and temperatures in our warmest areas into the upper 70s to the lower 80s. so temperatures a few degrees above average 67 in the city today we'll go to 72 in oakland, 78 in san jose, the same in napa. low 80s for concord and antioch. our pollen count is high. trees and grasses continue to be our main offenders. it's breezy this afternoon. by 4 p.m, we'll have a little bit of an onshore flow, gusting about 15 to 25mph. looking at the next three days with high pressure in control, get used to the sunshine. that warm weather continues tomorrow. tomorrow afternoon, our warmest areas close to 90 degrees

there were at least 13 tornadoes overnight. and amanda, it was a rough night for so many people and today could be more of that. yeah. >> kumasi thunderstorms are expected to impact the great lakes region this afternoon, and the severe weather threat continues for a big portion of the middle of the country tomorrow. last night, a large twister hit outside oklahoma city. people there were being told to seek shelter. now, three caused damage in the city of russell, kansas. and then in houston, texas. the power is slowly coming back online after a series of deadly storms over the weekend, hundreds of thousands of residents were left without power or air conditioning during near 90 degree heat. the storms brought hurricane force winds to the downtown area, and a tornado touched down in the suburbs. so far, 88% of the power has been restored to the houston area, with the rest expected back by wednesday. reggie or kumasi? excuse me and back to me.

>> let's talk about brazil. they are living through an extreme flooding emergency. thousands of people have been displaced in the southern part of the country over the past three weeks. our community is now helping into with the relief effort, i should say, some brazilian citizens in the bay area hosted a donation event in saratoga yesterday, collecting supplies and aid for those in need. >> a lot of people lost their homes and they closed everything that they own and we and the brazilian community start to uh- request for donations for winter clothes, blankets, hygiene supplies, diapers, things that they needed. and we had actually a overwhelm response. >> the nonprofit organization kind hearts for you estimates it will be sending about 18 tons of resources to those in need. bruce nordstrom, a retail executive who helped expand his family's department store chain into an upscale national brand, has died. seattle based

nordstrom inc. said its former chairman died at his home saturday. he was 90. his family, remembering him as a legendary business leader, a generous community citizen and a loyal friend, saying that he leaves behind a powerful legacy. >> this morning we are learning that mr. rader, jim otto has died at 86 years old. the pro football hall of fame center played 15 years with the oakland raiders in the afl. otto stood out by wearing the iconic double ot jersey, which has become a memorable part of the raiders history. during their time here in the bay area. after football, otto underwent more than 70 surgeries due to injuries sustained from his football career. from his football career . his cause of death is not known at this time. >> and now we're going to talk about beta breakers, the 113th edition of something that is uniquely san francisco. many of the top finishers of this year's race are familiar with the run. this is the second year in a row that colin bennie of san francisco came in first place in

kept laughing. >> they made their own exit i love it. the exploratorium camera this morning. partly cloudy skies. we've got a lot of sunshine already this morning. our may gray is taking a bit of a break for much of the week ahead. looking at your weather, wellness today, air quality, good to moderate. pollen levels are moderate to high grasses and trees still remain elevated. your uv index is seven out of an 11 that is high. so looking at our day planner today, we have a lot of sunshine from the get go. limited fog out there right now. any of that cloud cover is gone by 8 a.m. so that means the day ahead. it is bright 60s and 70s by noon, and then we continue to warm throughout the afternoon with temperatures a bit above average, 80 inland bay shoreline, lots of 70s. and even along the coast with full sunshine. we'll go into the 60s and even this evening. by 9 p.m, the fog is still taking a break. so we still have clear skies at that hour. highs today 60s 70s around the bay shoreline. warmest areas inland going into the low 80s. and again, your pollen count. it is high. looking at the evening planner, you see the absence of any fog,

b-t-q plus rights movement here in san francisco. and really everywhere. wednesday is harvey milk day over the weekend, a big event was held in the castro district. activists, community organizers, city leaders including mayor london breed, gathered to celebrate milk's life after being the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in california. he was assassinated inside city hall in 1978 along with mayor george moscone. his advocacy for lgbtq plus rights lives on, and harvey fought against that as he

it's a little frustrating. you know, it's a bit of an issue right now. >> and if you have any information about this shooting, you are asked to call san jose police right away. police told us they were expecting to hold up press conference sometime later today. once they had a little more information. live in san jose lena howland, abc seven news. >> thanks, lena. a fire that burned for more than an hour in the north bay destroyed a home that was under construction. these are pictures of the flames that gutted the 1200 square foot structure. this was in calistoga, on fran's valley school road. crews from four different agencies were called to that fire last night. they did have it under control by 6 p.m. and no one was hurt. a former irs tax fraud investigator from oakland and his brother have been convicted of scamming the covid 19 paycheck protection program for millions of dollars. frank and reginald mosley pleaded guilty to submitting fake applications to get pgp funds. they also

admit to recruiting others to do the same thing and then providing kickbacks. in total, these brothers made $3 million off the scheme. they were sentenced to 30 months in federal prison while you were sleeping, a major development in the effort to clear the cargo ship that hit baltimore's francis scott key bridge almost two months ago. >> now, amanda, the ship is on the move this morning and kumasi overnight. >> crews worked to refloat the ship and begin the slow process of moving it from baltimore shipping channel to its marine terminal. this is a crucial step toward reopening the channel. this step is possible because of a series of controlled explosions that were carried out earlier this month. they disconnected the remaining wreckage of the bridge that had fallen on the ship's deck, and freed it. officials hope today's development means they can reopen the shipping channel by the end of the month. many people are wondering what's next for the ship's crew. well, they've been stuck on the ship since the crash because maritime law requires ships to have a

to the us on espionage charges. the australian man wanted for allegedly publishing classified documents in 2010. he claims free speech and has insisted he was working as a journalist, exposing secrets for transparency. but his attorneys have argued he could face discrimination here based on his nationality. >> new developments for one of the buzziest bills before state lawmakers this spring, a plan to ban bosses from contacting employees when they're off the clock has been shelved, at least for now. on thursday, the bill was held on submission, which means lawmakers intend to hold it indefinitely. san francisco assemblyman matt haney proposed the bill, creating a so-called right to disconnect. california would have been the first state in the nation to give workers the right to ignore emails and texts outside of working hours upon argue the bill was too vague and it would have hurt businesses. we have reached out to haney's office to find out what is next for this bill. we'll let you know when we hear back. >> if you're driving through

working on a slimmed down iphone . it could be available next year, according to a report by media company the information. the potential thinner version is likely to be priced higher than apple's iphone pro max, which is currently over a thousand bucks. it's expected to be launched with the iphone 17 in september of 2025, the report says. apple is still testing different designs for that device. there's a bit of a buggy phenomenon taking over a rural part of northeast nevada. that area is being swarmed right now by crickets. >> video shows tons of them just taking over roads, fences and buildings in small towns. they're known as mormon crickets, usually emerging during the dry season. they got that name after they infested mormon settlers fields back in the 1800s. now in large numbers, these insects can potentially damage crops and water supplies. >> are they can we hear them? thank you.

into the 50s overnight tonight, we'll keep those clear skies our coldest areas dipping again into the 40s. so we will have a cool start to the day tomorrow. but tomorrow is the warmest day of the week. looking at future tracker temperatures, our warmest areas well into the 80s, if not close to 90 degrees tomorrow afternoon. here is the accuweather seven day forecast. a lot of sunshine coming. our way for the week ahead. by friday we'll start to see the fog return. then a cool down hits us for the holiday weekend. those temperatures a bit below average but lots of sunshine in the afternoon. guys. amanda good morning drew. >> yeah, we're keeping our eyes on this crash in pittsburgh. it's going to cause quite a headache because this is commute direction. this is a two car crash westbound for after a harbor street. the three left lanes are still blocked and there is stopped traffic from loveridge road. here is a picture of it. you can see it's right in the middle. as i mentioned those three left lanes blocked. there is stopped traffic and emergency crews are on scene. as you see here, there's about a 14 minute delay for drivers as speeds are down to about seven miles per hour in
