truck stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. no word yet on what caused the crash. now, late last night, alvarado's family, including half moon bay mayor joaquin jimenez arena, gathered at the crash site. that's him there holding a candle. in this video, jimenez became half moon bay's first mexican immigrant mayor when he took office this year and has been a community advocate and organizer for more than 20 years to the south bay now, where a renowned san jose state professor says she's been suspended by the university for her role as a liaison between the administration and pro-palestinian demonstrators, saying hey, kill posted the suspension letter on her instagram page. the chronicle first broke this news. it doesn't name specifics, but the letter says she violated university policies because of, quote, unprofessional and exploitative conduct towards students. the professor of justice studies wrote, the struggle for academic freedom continues. sous encampment has

since been taken down. a moment today to remember those who died three years ago in a shooting spree at a vta rail yard in san jose. nine people were killed by a lone gunman on may 26th, 2021, in what is considered the deadliest mass shooting in bay area history. the gunman, vta employee sam cassidy, killed himself as deputies arrived on the scene today. the vta observed a moment of silence at 6:38 a.m. to honor the lives lost. some trains and busses paused briefly at that time. we are following the story as deadly storms ravage several states in the central u.s. those storms now blamed for at least 15 deaths. you're seeing here storm damage in texas. abc news reporter morgan norwood reports how nearly 109 million people are under threat of large hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes. the national weather

service is now conducting surveys after reports of at least 25 possible tornadoes stretching across five states. >> major damage reported in valley view, texas, north of dallas. dozens of people injured when this travel center and gas station was destroyed. >> approximately 60 to 80 people that were here at the time, some of them seeking shelter, pulled off the road. so, a lot of them sought shelter in the restrooms, and, but no serious injuries here. >> the storm overturning 18 wheelers on the highway, downing trees and knocking out power to thousands of homes in clay county. cows running for safety in this pasture as a funnel cloud forms above. and this marina in pilot point, destroyed by the violent weather, the widespread damage clearly visible from above. residents now just beginning to assess the damage. >> i mean, anybody that lives within 200 miles should should come together. it's texas. we will. >> in tulsa, oklahoma, downed trees litter the road, along with power lines brought down by

evening, but it will burn off quickly tomorrow morning. so let's move along and take a look at what's happening right now. we've got the usual onshore flow. onshore flow is pretty brisk. we've got 20 mile per hour surface winds here in san francisco. excuse me. gusts to 20 and concord. so all around the bay area. it's pretty breezy right now, which is what we expect this time of the afternoon and evening this time of the year. and look at the 24 hour temperature change. it is impressive. 13 degrees warmer right now in novato than at this time yesterday. 12 degrees warmer in concord and six degrees warmer in both san francisco and oakland. now back to those sea lions enjoying the afternoon sunshine at 61 degrees here in the city. oakland 65. we've got 69 in hayward, mid 70s at san jose and redwood city, and only 55 at half moon bay. beautiful view from mount tam looking down onto the bay and onto parts of san francisco with no marine layer in the in the way to block our view. 79 degrees right now at santa rosa, petaluma only 66. we've got 73 at napa, 83 at fairfield, concord, 80 degrees and 79 at livermore. and as we look out over san francisco from sutro

tower, check out the forecast headlines tomorrow. memorial day will bring us a mild inland weather, but cool at the coast through midweek. there will be little change from tomorrow's weather, but on thursday and friday, big changes turning sharply warmer and we'll get to the details of that in just a moment. so during the evening and overnight hours we'll see this onshore flow continuing and after midnight up until about 6 a.m. or so, we'll see some low clouds developing along the peninsula coastline. and some of that cloudiness will move across the bay into the east bay. but it looks like the north bay is going to remain mainly clear overnight. overnight low temperatures will be generally in the mid to upper 40s in the north bay, upper 40s to about 50, just about everywhere else. and highs tomorrow mid 50s at the coast only 61 in san francisco, 67 oakland. but the inland areas will be mild with highs there in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. now let's skip ahead to wednesday. not much change there, just a few more locations we'll have highs in the 80s. but look at what happens on thursday. upper 80s inland and above 90 degrees in
