6:21 am
in the 50s tomorrow morning, but those temperatures are really going to soar very fast, not only here locally in the bay, but across a huge portion of california. heat advisories. excessive heat warnings across numerous counties. a lot of us are going to be dealing with this hot weather for several days. it starts tomorrow and it lasts through at least thursday. so locally we look at the heat risk tomorrow. it's moderate to major. the major heat risk is for the valleys of sonoma, napa county, parts of solano county. that deep red you see on your screen that is where temperatures are getting very close to, if not exceeding about 100 degrees tomorrow afternoon. so future track temperatures get ready for the heat. you will notice 90s in a huge area 100 degrees. even around the bay shoreline. we're in the 80s and in the 90, so you want to take it easy out there. the first heat wave of the year is always the hardest. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. cloudy and cooler today. then that heat alert kicks in here tomorrow. we stay hot through unresolved depression symptoms were in my way. i needed more

firefighters hurt battling a large fire near tracy. one home has been destroyed. thousands of acres scorched. we're monitoring the conditions and the fight to get it under control. >> then the new push to crack down on stolen goods on the streets of san francisco. the plan is set to be announced in just a few hours, and some people line up for seven hours to cast a vote in the mexican presidential election. >> the winner is a woman with bay area ties. >> good morning everybody. it is monday, june 3rd and i have a new mug. >> you do have a new mug. >> reggie aqui you do. >> they look good. >> this rainbow handle and is like, sassy hands on the hips. yeah, yeah. >> the kumasi there's a there's a michiana who's giving who's giving pride. >> yeah, we're kicking off pride. well yeah, officially this weekend, but this is the first weekday, so that's right here we are. >> and we're starting it off with clouds. we'll start out with some temperatures in the 50s and 60s this morning a live look from sutro tower. it's just going to be a pretty cloudy and cool day out there. right now. a cold front is actually moving
6:31 am
through northern california. some light rain is falling around. eureka! we're not getting any rain out of this. we're just getting all the cloud cover today. and the cooler weather. today's a partly sunny day at best 55 right now in the city, but 65 in saint helena. good morning, san jose. you're at 63 degrees. so looking at the coast first this morning, we will find a lot of cloud cover temperatures in the upper 50s for daytime highs. as we look around the bay shoreline, it's a partly sunny day, but temperatures are quite comfortable in the mid 70s and then inland. it's not too much warmer than that. we're fighting a lot of the cloud cover throughout the day. it's a bit breezy this afternoon and highs % p.m. we get our first heat wave here, arriving tomorrow. this will last through thursday, so heat advisories and excessive heat warnings will kick in here starting tomorrow for some of the hottest weather. so far this year. we'll take a closer look at these daytime highs coming up in seven minutes. let's check in with amanda and see if that commute is going. good morning drew. >> here at 631 it is crowded at the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see our live cam right now

with the traffic is backed up to grand avenue and it continues slow across the span into the city to fifth street specifically. and then a quick mass transit alertere. no green line service on bart because of a planned track closure, but there is a bus bridge between daly city and 24th street instead. utilize the orange and blue lines to get around, and one last alert ace train one is delayed approaching the fremont amtrak station, and this is because of signal issues in stockton. it will set you back about 24 minutes. >> thanks, amanda. this morning the fight continues to get a brush fire in san joaquin county under control. >> this started over the weekend near tracy. it's already burned more than 14,000 acres. it is about 50% contained. joining us now live is cecile juliette with cal fire. so cecile, what is the latest on the numbers? how is the fire fight going this morning? >> so i actually have some good updated numbers for you. the acreage is the same. didn't change overnight. and the good news is that it is now 75% contained. right now. i don't
6:33 am
know if you can see behind me, but i'm standing here at the incident command post in tracy and we are going to get an update here at 7 a.m, all the firefighters are going to hear the latest information, and they're going to get their assignment for the day. >> oh, i'm so happy to hear that. did the conditions change to help you all kind of get it more under control? and what's the strategy as you look forward to today. >> so the conditions really improved from saturday to sunday, saturday you saw the video. the winds were fierce, 30 to 40 mile an hour sustained winds and 60 mile an hour gusts. people were saying they couldn't even stand up in those high winds. and the grass has been really tall because of all the recent rain. so it really got that fire fast. moving through those what we call flashy fuels, unfortunately, one home was lost and then the conditions really changed overnight and into sunday morning. and our firefighters knew that was going to happen because that's a typical weather pattern around
6:34 am
here. it's very windy in the afternoon. and so they took advantage of the higher relative humidity and the cooler temperatures on sunday morning. and they were really able to get a handle on this fire and start building those containment lines. and then overnight, this last night, they spent all night growing those containment lines. so now we're at 75, which is obviously great news, they were able to go direct on the fire yesterday, and they really just did a really good job, but as your meteorologist mentioned, now we have that, potential heat wave coming midweek, which is just going to dry everything out even further. and our big message for people is that we just had a fire in the bay area. it was 14,000 acres with evacuations on on june first, usually we see the more intense fire activity in july, august, september. so we just want everybody to be prepared. you don't know what's going to happen this summer, but we just want everybody to, of course, know several evacuation routes,
6:35 am
have their go bag ready. all the same messages that we're always talking about. >> that's a good message to put out there. cecile something else i'm curious about. we mentioned earlier there were two firefighters who were hurt over the weekend. do we know how they're doing this morning? the last update that i had was that they were still hospitalized. >> but the good news is they are expected to make a full recovery. you know, this just highlights how dangerous firefighting is and how dangerous it is for anybody to be near a fire. so what we're asking people is just to really pay attention to the evacuation orders and to get out early, because we're going to be coming in. if there's a fire which all fires start small. so our goal is to get in there quickly so that we can keep it small, get it out, and then hopefully people can get back into their homes quickly. so we just want everybody to listen to the warnings and evacuate early. >> started this fire. >> i'm sorry, could you repeat that? >> do you know at this point what started this fire, the cause of this fire is under
6:36 am
investigation, we let our fire investigators do their job, and we don't push them so that they can do it accurately. >> got it. >> cecil juliet from cal fire. we appreciate the information. and that update on the numbers. definitely the progress we are looking for. thanks so much and good luck to all the firefighters out there. as we get into fire season, make sure you have the abc seven bay area app. we'll send alerts with the latest information on fires, the weather forecast, where you live and other breaking news as it happens. just make sure you turn on those notifications. >> happening today, leaders in san francisco will be sharing a new push to crack down on the sale of stolen goods. they're proposing new legislation to tackle fencing on the street. amanda has more on the plan that will be announced today. >> amanda kumasi san francisco leaders hinted at the plan in november as they banned street vending in the mission district. the ban was an attempt to push out vendors who did not have permits, and were allegedly taking part in illegal activities. the goal is to end what the city categorizes as extremely dangerous fencing operations. the city says since
6:37 am
