chipmaker could be a wall street disruptor tomorrow. >> always live abc seven news starts right now. >> it's a day animal rights activists have been waiting for in just a matter of hours. the bay area's largest live racetrack will take its final bets. thanks for joining us. i'm j.r. stone. abc seven has long covered animal rights concerns involving golden gate fields. today, we're following the story as the last bets are being made following 83 years of racing. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard is live at the racetrack tonight. cornell, you spoke with both those celebrating and those who are mourning the closure. >> hey, jr. yes, we did. and this is like you said, the last remaining dedicated horse racing track in the bay area. soon, golden gate fields will close some are applauding the closure. others are reminiscing. >> they're off and running at golden gate fields on closing

have the option of moving to the california fair circuit. former jockey turned dancing juggler robert demars says it's the end of an era in so many ways. i just sad because a way of a really cool way of living is dying. and the west coast outside animal rights activists staged a funeral procession for the horses they say have been euthanized here. >> it's bittersweet. we're happy that this is a huge step forward for the animals, that horses will no longer be exploited and killed here. >> for race fans who still love the sport, one last goodbye, end of an era for sure it is. but you know, at least it's going out in glory. >> you got the a's leaving and the raiders have already left, and now you have this. >> so it's kind of sad. >> the gm declining to say what is next for this massive bayfront property, which sits between albany and berkeley. whatever happens here will need the approval of both cities, including, we're told, voters in

albany. we're live in berkeley tonight. cornell, bernard, abc seven news. >> cornell, thanks so much. and the north bay minutes ago, as we move on to the next shot here in the north bay minutes ago, nascar race fans witnessed an exciting finish to this year's toyota save mart 350 at sonoma raceway. >> the 31 year old is going to power off turn 11, take this little kink here to the checkered flag. and kyle larson scores his 26th career win. >> third kyle larson took home the checkered flag. it's the second time the elk grove native has won this race. so certainly a congratulation goes to him. a wild night on the streets of san francisco and oakland, where sideshows seem to take over there were also at least four sideshows in the east bay. several involved fireworks and two cars collided during one of the streets. stunt shows. there

are reports of at least one person hit by a car. the sideshows in the east bay stretched from emeryville to oakland and south to san leandro. some scene in san francisco, though a car was engulfed in flames during this sideshow on the embarcadero. this happened around 3 a.m. police say this sideshow began to break up as officers arrived. officers say a building in the area was vandalized. a second sideshow happened at valencia and cesar chavez street in san francisco's mission district. police responded, but say no arrests were made. new details about a large brawl at lake berryessa in napa county were one person was shot dead and three others suffered stab wounds. the man who died was identified today as 39 year old andreas sandoval garcia from vallejo. investigators say the gunman drove away from the scene but was detained a short time later. he's in the hospital recovering from stab wounds. napa sheriff oscar ortiz says

the fight involved two large groups that were not associated with one another in that altercation, there was punches, there was bottles. >> there was, we believe, stab wounds. but as deputies arrived, they did find one victim who had suffered gunshot wounds. >> it's unclear exactly how the fight started. lake berryessa is a popularecreation spot in the north bay. fight happened yesterday evening on the west side of the lake, an area known for its swimming and fishing spots in the south bay. a suspect was arrested after barricading himself in a san jose apartment early this morning. police say he jumped out of a bedroom window just before 10 a.m, and then was then taken into custody. officers were called to the scene at waring drive and kalmar avenue around 4:30 a.m, after reports of a man breaking windows and throwing stuff out of a window. investigators say he fired at least one shot at officers when

they arrived. neighbors in oakland are coming out today to help. an ice cream vendor robbed in a brutal attack, caught on camera a warning some may find the video tough to watch here. the robbery happened a little more than two weeks ago. the video has been all over social media. you can see the vendor crossing the street here when three masked people run up, one of the people knocks the vendor to the ground, and then the group runs off with some of his belongings. oakland lice are still looking for the people who robbed him. investigators tell us this happened around 1245 in the afternoon, back on may 24th on 17th avenuejust a couple of blocks from san antonar that video inspired the community to hold a fundraiser for the vendor today, trying to buy out all of his stock in the east bay, a safe haven for jewish students is getting ready to open the uc berkeley bay. it just went through a major renovation. jewish a jewish

by francis lawson about the weather. still a little breezy outside. >> still breezy right now, but things are really going to change. it's going to feel like summer out there for all those kids who want to enjoy the summer. yeah here's a look. yeah. here's a look at live doppler seven. so we have a lot of blue skies, some clouds off the coast right now. but as j.r. mentioned, it is still breezy in some spots. in fact, gusting up to 30mph at sfo right now. where you can see the wind blowing that bush there in the foreground. temperatures range quite a bit, so we have half moon bay at 57 degrees. so that's where things are cooler near the ocean. san francisco 60 degrees, oakland 64, hayward 66. but san jose getting up to 75 and this time from mount tam, you can see lots of blue skies, hazy conditions out there, but inland neighborhoods already in the 80s for some spots, like santa rosa, fairfield 83, concord 80, livermore 76 degrees. right now. so it has changed from yesterday at this time. notice where we had more

>> we all have an incredible passion for what it is that we do. we really come in and sometimes we'll joke like, yeah, you know, we're changing the youth basketball landscape. no big deal. it's that mindset that sets the warriors basketball academy apart from every other youth basketball program in the nba. >> we started our camp program summer of 2000, just offering four camps here at the oakland practice facility. and to see what it's turned into and camps all over the region. and it's been quite a ride. >> this summer marks the 25th anniversary of the warriors basketball academy. jeff addiego has seen the growth from the very beginning. at the end of that summer, we kind of figured out we were on to something and so from there it just took off and grew. >> every summer after that, we added 2 or 3 more sessions, 2 or 3 different locations, to the point now where we offer close to 100 camps a year. >> i had a lot of fun over the last three days. you guys have fun? yeah, the buy in is organization wide with players attending the popular overnight camp in the summer. >> all right. make sure you know

you take everything that these coaches are telling you, all the drills you're doing. you know, all the work that you've been doing all week. make sure you remember it. you know, don't let this be just a one week where you come in and get better at your game, and you don't take it home with you. >> the first overnight camp we did with steph curry changed the game for us because by that time we had already been about 13 or so years in our existence. felt like we were, you know, growing at a at a reasonable rate and more camps and more kids. but that first overnight camp really changed it for us. and i just thought, this is incredible. like, and we've got an opportunity here to do a whole lot more. >> over the years, several warriors campers have actually made it to the nba to no. >> we've had three kids go on to the nba is super special. you know, wilcherry was our first one back in 2014, played eight games with the cavaliers that year. tyler johnson made his nba debut. another former camper of ours, tyler, ended up making 50 plus million dollars in the nba. probably the one that means the most to me is juan toscano-anderson. so he obviously a former camper, but he was the first former camper

to play for the warriors and win a championship. so super special. >> the academy has evolved with the times, incorporating the shoot 360 technology, which i myself have even tried. but at the core, the warriors basketball academy is about so much more than what happens on the court. there's a lot of things that we can teach the kids that we use basketball as the tool to do it, but it's really going to help them in all aspects of their life. >> we care about skill development. we care about seeing them get better, seeing them, you know, make new friends and improve their skills. for me, it's always been that experience of watching these kids really get better at the game of basketball. and make friends while doing it looks like a fun time all around. >> well, coming up next, nba finals game two is the boston celtics host the dallas mavericks, dallas mavericks boston has a10 series lead. and don't forget to stick around for toyota. after the game, we'll have warriors assistant coach ron adams in studio and a conversation with warriors executive vice president kirk la'akea. it was a great weekend
