agents raided the home of oakland mayor shengtao. we haven't heard from her about it. the reaction from residents on the investigation mass shooting in oakland. >> the new details we're learning about one of the city's worst shootings during a crowded juneteenth celebration, and a tribute to willie mays. >> thousands of fans gathering at oracle park to pay their respects to the giants legend. >> good morning to you. it is friday, june 21st and friday weekend is here and hopefully it'll be a nice weekend weather wise too. >> yeah, and we're finally warming up. we have these hot days typically during the week, but finally we get one during the weekend. this warming trend kicks underway here today. and then we have a heat advisory coming our way tomorrow. you're looking at a live view from our east bay hills. camera never gets old to see the morning fog come down our hillside. so most areas currently you can see our sky conditions. got that cloud cover? the only area that is pretty clear right now is inland concord. reporting mainly clear skies. so numbers right now starting off pretty typical in

the upper 40s to the mid 50s. now today is going to be warmer than yesterday. you'll really notice that inland lots of sunshine today. temperatures topping out in the low and mid 90s. so it will be warm around the bay shoreline. we have that cloud cover that will break pretty fast for sunshine between 9 and 11 a.m. then into the afternoon. it's bright. those daytime highs going into the 70s along the coast. it is very cloudy right now. some drizzle as well. we'll have partly sunny skies this afternoon and highs in the low 60s. now. tomorrow a heat advisory kicks in for hotter temperatures. we'll show you that coming up in a few minutes. let's check in with sue hall c those drive times are doing. >> thanks, drew. we head out to the bay bridge toll plaza. no metering lights yet and hoping for friday lights. so far so good. just a few brake lights as you make your way towards the tunnel and on into san francisco and the san mateo bridge. a little hazy this morning. golden gate bridge is shrouded in fog, so heads up limited visibility over the waldo grade. earlier accident westbound 80 before willow coming off the coming skyway has been cleared. it's

quickly recovered, but you will find slow traffic past highway four and on into san pablo. and now we're getting reports eastbound 580 coming off the richmond-san. rafael bridge of an accident blocking a lane near the richmond parkway, and also over the altamont pass. we've got an accident blocking the right lane to add to your already slow traffic right near north. flynn. >> sue, thank you so much this morning. we are still waiting to hear from oakland mayor shengtao , 24 hours after her home was raided by the fbi. >> abc7 news was the first to tell you about this as it was breaking yesterday morning. we could see agents carrying boxes out of mayor tao's home, and it was one of four locations raided . >> agents started before dawn at mayor tao's home on maiden lane, very close to highway 13 and the mormon temple. other agents, including from the irs, raided the embarcadero offices of california waste solutions, which runs the city's recycling company. two homes on view, crest court and skyline

boulevard, were also raided. they are connected to the duong family, which runs california waste solutions. >> abc seven news reporter lena howland was the first reporter at mayor tao's home yesterday, and she's been tracking these developments since the very beginning. >> lena kumasi, law enforcement sources tell abc seven. this is a public corruption case with the fbi, irs and u.s. postal service working together. though the fbi confirmed only that they carried out a court, authorized law enforcement activity. agents hit several locations, including mayor shang tao's home. more than a dozen agents were there for more than four hours. we watched as they carried out boxes, boxes, plastic tubs and trash bags and quickly left without comment. nina medina happened to be staying in the neighborhood with friends. she's president of the national latino peace officers association here for a meeting with the new oakland police chief. >> the federal government doesn't force or obtain warrants

into one's residence without probable cause. and when it rises, in my experience, to the level of the federal government, you're talking about some significant, issues. >> fbi agents also hit the offices of california waste solutions. we spotted the irs there back in 2020. their company founders were under investigation by the public ethics commission for funneling money through straw donors to council members. we have reached out to the mayor's office yesterday, and only a few moments ago, right at the 24 hour mark since this raid first began and our calls and emails have gone unanswered. live in studio lena howland, abc seven news. thank you for that update. >> lena rates also took place in a quiet neighborhood in the hills of oakland. a neighbor who didn't want to be identified, said she heard the fbi say they were carrying out a federal warrant. >> and then i started hearing,

uh, this is the fbi. open up. come out with your hands up. >> the house belongs to andy duong, and he's listed as director at california waste solutions, a recycling company that serves oakland just before noon yesterday, the fbi inspected a mercedes benz that was parked outside that home. 30 minutes later, an unidentified couple leaving the house drove off in that vehicle. meanwhile, u.s. postal inspectors collected evidence at a nearby home that belongs to david duong, who's andy's father and who's listed as the ceo of california waste solutions. now, the family business is california. waste solutions released this statement. it reads california waste solutions is fully aware that federal agents executed search warrants at a number of locations in oakland and related to aws. the company is fully cooperating with the government's investigation and is confident that government officials will conclude that aws was not involved in any unlawful

or improper activities. >> it has been a rough week for the oakland mayor. on wednesday, a recall petition was allowed to move forward, and yesterday the fbi paid a visit to her home. protesters gathered outside the home of mayor tao yesterday afternoon demanding her resignation. the group told abc seven news they believe what oakland needs now more than ever is transparency. >> the mayor should explain to the residents what's going on. she should step out, show leadership and say how she is helping oakland. >> abc seven news reached out to nearly all of the members of the oakland city council yesterday. most declined to comment. council member carol fife told us the council was not briefed on the raids, and this is clearly an ongoing investigation and we're going to stay on it. so stay with abc seven news to learn the latest about what's happening with the mayor and how it will affect the city of oakland. we will continue to update abc seven news.com and the abc seven bay area app.

>> also in oakland, we are following the latest developments in one of the city's biggest shootings. we've learned at least 15 people were shot wednesday night at a juneteenth celebration near lake merritt. police say there were at least 5000 people in attendance. oakland police chief floyd mitchell confirmed there were multiple shooters in the crowd, and hundreds of people were running for cover. officers say all of this erupted after a sideshow and fights that broke out when a group climbed on the roof of a moving vehicle. >> we have everything from minor gunshot or flesh wounds to loss of fingers, to some of the individuals still being in critical condition. >> there are still questions lingering, though, over how many officers were actually on the scene before and after the shooting. opd says 30 officers were there. one person was arrested for assaulting a police officer. no arrests have been

made in connection with the shooting. >> well, today is the last day of the giants. say, hey pop-up experience celebrating the late willie mays. it opens at 10:00 across from oracle park. yesterday oracle park was open for fans to gather in his honor. the center field scoreboard showed the giants game against the saint louis cardinals. it was played at rickwood field in mays hometown of birmingham, alabama. fans paid their respects. many wrote personal messages in the condolence books. >> i always had a smile on his face, you know, just always played the game the right way. it's just, you know, just thinking back all the all the things that he did for this organization and things like that for the community. >> willie mays was coming to town and you know, for a ten year old boy in the 50s and 60s, willie was the bomb. >> and fans say the say, hey, kid, might be physically gone from this world, but his spirit and his legacy will always be present at the ballpark. >> across the country, fans in birmingham also took time to

travel forecast today shaping up to be beautiful in l.a. good afternoon sunshine. a high of 80 degrees. no, new york is in the midst of a heat wave. the air temperature today going for a high of 93. but the heat indices close to 100. watching denver closely, some afternoon storms could be severe, with a high of about 88 degrees. back here at home. future weather showing you that cloud cover still pretty intact. close to 830 this morning heading into lunchtime, we have a lot of sunshine away from the coast. partly sunny skies for the coastline and today is going to feel warmer than yesterday. we're going into the 90s in our hottest spots inland 70s and 80s around the bay shoreline. so looking at highs around the region today, our warming trend gets underway here. 87 in napa but 93 in concord, 88 in san jose will go to 76. in oakland, the city a little bit of above average coming in at 68 degrees for a daytime high. so looking at the next three days, our summer heat starts to build. today that heat advisory will kick in here on saturday, but it's just for one

continue to make progress on the point fire, which is burning just south of lake sonoma. it's now 70% contained. it's burned 1200 acres. all evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted. residents returning home could still experience power outages this morning. containment also improving on the arrow fire in calaveras county. it's now at 58. crews say that fire is being driven by dry winds. there are evacuation orders still in place, but some people were allowed to return to their homes yesterday. the cause of that fire is under investigation. the largest fire burning in the state right now, though, is the colusa in colusa county, northeast of clear lake. we're talking about the sites fire. so far, it's burned more than 19,000 acres. it's just 20% contained at this point. it's burning mostly dry grass, but several structures are being threatened. the blaze is also

started. several spot fires. now four of the state's biggest fires right now are here in northern california. and you can see them all on the abc news, abc7 news fire map. you can access this map anytime by going to abc7 news.com/fire map. >> san francisco's laguna honda hospital has been readmitted into medicare's federal funding program. we've been following the story since laguna honda lost its eligibility back in 2022 because of health and safety violations. the hospital was readmitted into california's medicaid program for low income residents last year. more than 95% of laguna honda residents depend on medicaid for their care, and the rest rely on medicare funding for resident care at laguna, honda has now been fully restored. >> new developments in a story we've been following since last year, california regulators have ordered crews to pay more than $112,000 to settle an investigation into a crash that

dragged a pedestrian in san francisco last year. that is the maximum amount allowed by law and more than the $75,000 cruz originally offered to settle the allegations. the cruise last year happened when a human driven car hit a woman. then the cruise self-driving vehicle dragged her 20ft. after that, the dmv suspended cruz's permits to operate self-driving cars. we reached out to cruz this morning for a response to the settlement. we will lete hear b.

>> alphabet's waymo is getting clearance to expand, according to the chronicle. this week, the california public utilities commission upheld its march decision to allow the company to operate on the peninsula, also in los angeles. it comes days after a bill that would have given bay area cities the power to regulate autonomous vehicles was pulled by south bay state senator dave cortese. >> let's take a live look right now at sfo. your summer vacation is about to get a bit smoother. sfo is reopening a runway that's been under construction since january, and the work has caused a bit of delays and even for some airlines to reduce flights.

well, now that the runway is reopening, those delays should go away. >> well, bay area commuters may soon be getting around like the jetsons. archer aviation says it plans to offer electric helicopter flights between select bay area cities by the end of the year, actually, that's next year. and the company says it's reached an agreement to develop a 50 acre waterfront campus in south san francisco. it plans to offer flights between that city and napa. san jose, oakland and livermore. archer aviation says hour long commutes can be cut down to 15 minutes, and we still are waiting to hear how much it's going to cost. might be worth it. >> a potty mouth parrot is looking for a new home. we're talking about pepper the parrot is at the niagara falls spca and pepper has a lot to say. he is going viral for his bad language. after a post on facebook said that he likes to curse just a little. >> well, his, his his famous, line is do you want me to kick

quite chilly. we'll get into the 60s across the city for daytime highs in the north bay. it's getting warm to hot out there. 80s and 90s, if not about 100 degrees in cloverdale, ukiah, the coast. nice and comfy in the 60s. the east bay it's warm and sunny. 77 in orinda, 76, in oakland, 74. berkeley but 83 in union city and fremont and inland. it's getting hot, low and mid 90s. 93 in concord. the same in livermore, about 95 in brentwood. overnight tonight we'll have a lot less cloud cover as that warming trend continues. we'll stay in the 40s and 50s for overnight lows. now heading into saturday. here's the heat advisory. this will be in effect all day for areas in orange that's inland the south bay. the higher elevations of the north bay where temperatures will be well into the 90s. in fact, some areas could be even hotter than that. so future tracker temperatures want to stay hydrated? want to stay cool on saturday because temperatures are well above average inland, even around the bay shoreline, it will feel warm in the 70s and 80s. but watch what happens on
