and that heat advisory that's still hitting parts of the bay area. spencer that is true, j.r. we have some summer sizzle going on right now, especially in our interior valleys and our hills as well. >> here's a look at that heat advisory, which covers the interior hills and valleys until 11:00 tonight. it's warm in other locations as well, but under these conditions, bear in mind that there is an increased risk of heat related illness. now, just how hot is it right now? well, it's 100 degrees at fairfield and saint helena and ukiah, 99 at livermore, livermore, livermore, concord and danville, in fact, all at 99 degrees right now. and when we get the 5:00 temperature readings, which, which haven't come in yet, it may be 100 in those locations already moving along, you can see that the 24 hour temperature change shows most of these inland locations are anywhere from ten to about 13 degrees warmer than at this time yesterday. but the good news is that there hasn't been any decline. not significant decline in air quality. right now, we're looking at moderate to good air quality just about everywhere. and that should only improve the air quality as we get into the next couple of

days, because a refreshing onshore flow is developing right now, which will bring temperatures down a bit tomorrow. and i'll have more on that a little bit later j.r. >> spencer, thank you so much. firefighters on the state's largest wildfire are making progress. despite the hot weather. containment is up to 35% on the sites. fire in colusa county. firefighters shared some video of some of the 64 miles of control line they've built to keep that fire from spreading the sites. fire has burned more than 19,000 acres, but no buildings. first responders lifted the last evacuations today for the arrow fire along highway four in calaveras county. the fire burned more than 5300 acres near copper opolis this week. containment is up to 78. tonight, fire destroyed three buildings and damaged one more. the cause here is under investigation. now to the east bay. and a difficult week for the city of oakland.

first 15 people shot after an illegal sideshow interrupted a juneteenth celebration at lake merritt. then the fbi raided the mayor's house. sources tell us it's part of a political corruption investigation. much quieter today outside mayor sheng tao's home, the mayor still hasn't made a public appearance or shared any kind of statement after the raid yesterday, her attorney told us there's no sign tao is named in the investigation and she's willing to cooperate. her home was one of four spots raided thursday. the fbi also searched three locations tied to california waste solutions, which holds a recycling contract with the city. the company told us today they were surprised by the raid. in a statement, california waste solutions said in part, quote, we believe that we have not engaged in or committed any illegal activity and are awaiting the decision of the law enforcement agency. people packed lake merritt today to find some community. after such a difficult week, police increased patrols for today's

lake fest because of wednesday's mass shooting, organizers tell abc seven news reporter cornell bernard. violence cast a shadow on today's event, but it won't stop their positivity. we lake fest is a family picnic. >> travel at hernandez and his crew ready to greet the public at lake fest, the event he founded on lake merritt. >> welcome to lake fest. thank you. this year, attendees are lining up outside for a security check. >> the festival, surrounded by blocks and blocks of fencing, trevelle says it's all about safety. >> we gated the whole park, we're checking bags and making sure no one has weapons or anything. >> on wednesday night, gun violence rocked a juneteenth celebration near lake merritt. oakland police say 15 people were wounded. the shooting is one of the biggest in the city's history, and a lot of my friends who are older, i'm 74, so a lot

have never seen a fight, anybody arguing ever. so, you know, everybody's just here for a good time. all right? >> for abu, chevelle was hoping 15,000 people would show up for lake fest to have a safe, relaxing, fun day. >> there aren't many things to do in oakland where we can all come together as one culture and enjoy ourselves and we're hoping to do that and keep continue to do it in oakland. >> cornell, bernard abc seven news. >> new details about the push to bring giant pandas to the san francisco zoo. the big challenge will be paying for them, and we're getting a better idea of how much it will cost. the san francisco chronicle reports. the zoo's financial director put the cost at as much as $70 million for a decade. that includes the panda enclosure for thousands of pounds of bamboo per month and the cost to rent the pandas from china and of animal rights groups, claim 70 million is low

estimate mayor london breeds fundraising plan is focused on raising 25 million. the zoo's deputy director says it's premature to put a price tag on what pandas would cost. tackling homelessness is a critical part of building a better bay area, and this week, san jose took another step towards that goal. the city council agreed this week to assess, adding eight safe sleeping sites for unhoused people. they would provide sanction places for people to camp with food, showers and other resources. mayor matt mehan originally proposed nine sites, but neighbors opposed a location near history park. now, the city will figure out how much the eight sites would cost. >> it's really complicated and, you know, riddled with a lot of different layers and i think that we're getting to a better place. >> san jose's most recent count shows more than 6300 unhoused people in the city, 4400 of

those people live on the streets or along rivers. happening now. the twin peaks tunnel between the west portal and forest hill stations is closed for repair work. the sfmta recently completed a structural inspection of the tunnel. it found it's safe for passengers and workers, but two areas within the tunnel require some immediate repair work. muni metro service is interrupted for the k ingleside and the l taraval and the m ocean view lines. shuttle busses are connecting those lines while the tunnel is closed through tomorrow. happening tomorrow in monterey county, caltrans will reopen highway one at paul's slide. a rock slide near big sur back in january of 2023 sent tons of rock and mud onto the road. it caused a 4.3 mile section of the scenic byway to be closed for nearly a year and a half. the repairs here cost about $60 million. a

the rock river. iowa governor kim reynolds issued a disaster emergency proclamation for 21 counties. privacy concerns are a big question as we consider the future of ai. and tonight one company is paying for it the facial recognition start of clearview ai. agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over how it built its software. the new york based company scraped billions of photos on social media sites to create its app, which it sold to law enforcement across the country. settling with all those people whose pictures it took would bankrupt the company. so a judge agreed to let them give plaintiffs a share of the company's value. thousands of people will make their way to a remote northern california forest this month for a counterculture festival, but it's drawn concerns from first responders. the annual gathering of the rainbow family is heading for antelope lake in plumas county, about a five hour drive

liner to the es more than two weeks ago, but issues with the craft's propulsion system have pushed back the return trip multiple times. now it's delayed until july at the earliest. nasa says the starliner would be able to travel home if there was an emergency in the east bay. hayward held its fourth annual juneteenth freedom celebration today. understand times there. the event was held in downtown hayward on c street. it featured live music, delicious food, a beer and wine garden, as well as family fun. it was also a chance for the community to support local black owned businesses. spencer christian here now it looks like a fun time out there. probably a hot time. >> oh yeah, it was a little toasty in hayward and castro valley and places like that, but even hotter over the hills in places like livermore and concord d danville. >> i mean, comfortable here in san francisco. maybe not so much out there, not so much out

there, but it will become more comfortable there in the next few days as we have an onshore flow developing right now. >> as you can see right now in the satellite radar composite image. so the marine layer is making a return and not a moment too soon. our heat advisory remains in effect until 11:00 tonight for virtually all of our interior hills and valleys. so under this kind of excessive heat, there is an increased risk, of course, of heat related illness. so bear that in mind. try to stay hydrated, limit your exposure to the heat and the sun. now that cooldown that's coming eventually is being assisted by this onshore flow. right now we have breezy conditions, but we don't have powerful gusts yet, and the 24 hour temperature change shows that it hasn't cooled down much even with that onshore flow developing now, because it's about 12 to 13 degrees warmer in most inland locations right now than at this time yesterday. here's a view from our exploratory camera, looking back at a portion of the san francisco skyline. 65 degrees here in the city right now. oakland 73. we have 82 at hayward, 88 at san jose, redwood city, almost 80 degrees and 57

at half moon bay. looking down onto the bay from mount tam, you see that little finger of fog pushing through the golden gate there? it's 92 right now in santa rosa, petaluma 82, by the way. 102 in saint helena, right now, 80 at napa, 100 at fairfield and 99 apiece at concord and livermore. it is warm. and so these are our forecast headlines. heat advisory today for the interior hills and valleys. tomorrow the heat eases area wide. it'll still be warm inland but not like today's heat. and then into next week the fog returns, a cooler pattern develops, and we'll all feel better. here's a look at our future cast taking us into the late night hours. we'll see the fog coming back to the coast and pushing locally across the bay. there'll be lots of patchy drizzle offshore tonight during the overnight hours and even into the early morning hours, but we'll have a mainly sunny day tomorrow once the coastal fog burns back. overnight lows will be generally in the mid to upper 50s, so pretty mild after a very hot day . you would expect that on the coast though a little bit cooler with overnight lows around 50 degrees. highs tomorrow right

around 60 on the coast, 64 here in san francisco. mid to upper 70s. generally around the bay shoreline. but some locations will top out around 80 or 82. and again still pretty warm in our inland areas tomorrow with highs in the low to mid 90s in most inland communities. as we skip ahead to monday, you can see there will be further cooling and certainly on tuesday and wednesday we'll get into a much more comfortable range of temperatures. here's the accuweather seven day forecast so low to mid 90s inland for the next few days, and mid 70s to upper 70s around the bay shoreline, but then later in next into the next week we'll see a high temperatures inland, dropping into the upper 80s to around 90, which is more seasonal range and only mid 70s around the bay shoreline. >> i've never enjoyed fog so much as i did this morning in the city. proud to live in the city on days like this. >> absolutely. >> yeah. spencer, thank you so much. a guy who heats up, we've heated up inland. you heat up every time for this sports segment coming up in sports after a special game at rickwood field thursday, giants and cardinals resume their series in
