three other locations as part of an investigation. but reaction is trickling in. good morning to you. it is june 23rd. i'm gloria rodriguez here with meteorologist lisa argen and lisa. it was a hot one yesterday. is it going to be hot again today? >> you know, we have the cool down definitely for our inland valley. still going to see some 90s. but we saw temperatures more like 100 degrees in livermore. here's a look at live doppler seven. right now you see all the moisture in southern california. and we'll get some extra cloud cover from that. but not until tuesday. as for your sunday, what a gorgeous shot from mount tam sun coming up at 548. it's 55 in the city, 57 in oakland, 62 san jose. clear sky fog has yet to form. and from sutro, we're looking at temperatures in the upper 40s petaluma but low 60s in livermore and 70 by the delta. so the next couple of hours we're going to warm slower. this morning. we're warmer, five degrees warmer in livermore. and as we go through the 9:00 hour, 60 and 70s. but by about 12,

1:00, we're in the 70s and 80s for most of us away from the shoreline, fog stays at the coast and we'll be looking at near 80 in the san ramon valley, low 80s and we'll talk about further cooling for the week ahead. >> gloria, thank you so much, lisa. we are still waiting to hear from the fbi on why agents showed up at the mayor's home on maiden lane in oakland before dawn on thursday. other agents, including from the irs, raided the embarcadero offices of california waste solutions, which runs the city's recycling company. two homes on bucharest court and skyline boulevard were also raided, and they are connected to the duong family, which runs california waste solutions. as a federal investigation gets underway linked to business owners in oakland, the spotlight remains on oakland's embattled mayor, a growing number of voices are calling for shengtao to resign, including the oakland chapter of the naacp. abc seven news reporter anser hassan got an interesting reaction from one of the leaders of the recall effort

saturday evening, oakland mayor sheng tao's house showed no sign that anyone was home, but on friday, the lawyer for the embattled mayor spoke about the pending federal investigation into possible public corruption. >> i would point out the search warrants were for the address. okay, okay. >> and that's significant because it's significant because, again, we don't have any information that indicates that mayor tao is the target of the investigation. in early thursday morning, fbi agents raided mayor tao's home and hauled away boxes of evidence brass points out the warrants were for the address where mayor tao lives, not for mayor tao specifically. >> the mayor has not been arrested. this is a search warrant only. there are no restrictions on the mayor. >> the feds also targeted two homes related to the duong family, who are big donors to oakland politics. though brass states the mayor doesn't face any restrictions, there's a growing number of voices in the community calling on the mayor to resign and resign. >> now, mayor tao and let

november 5th be the election day for a new mayor. >> on wednesday, the day before the raid, a rally was held in front of city hall to announce that city officials ratified the number of signatures necessary for the recall of mayor tao to qualify for the november ballot. judge brenda forte, a former alameda county superior court judge, says it's even more critical for tao to gracefully step down given this open federal investigation. >> the fbi is never going to tell you who you are or not a target of an investigation. they don't have to tell you that. >> judge forte says tao is entitled to the presumption of innocence. acknowledging the tao hasn't even been charged. but the judge believes this investigation will be a distraction, especially as city council has to tackle a historic budget deficit. the oakland chapter of the naacp issued a statement reading in part oaklanders deserve a mayor who's not distracted, fully committed

and able to lead the city. experts say this current federal investigation could take months, if not longer. in oakland, anser hassan, abc seven news. >> and this is clearly an ongoing investigation, and we're going to stay on it. so stay with abc seven news to learn the latest about what's happening with the mayor and how it will affect the city of oakland. we'll continue to update abc seven news.com and the abc seven bay area app. cal fire says a fire that broke out sunday in sonoma county is now 85% contained. the so-called point fire has charred more than 1200 acres near lake sonoma. that's northwest of healdsburg. three structures were destroyed by flames, two others were damaged. evacuation orders have now been lifted. cal fire says crews are pulling hoses and in the mop up phase, the cause of the fire is still under investigation and firefighters are making progress on the state's largest wildfire. the sites fire in colusa county. containment is now at 38.

firefighters shared video of some of the 64 miles of control line that they've built to keep the fire from spreading. it scorched more than 19,000 acres, but cal fire says no buildings have been damaged. the area around lake merritt was packed last night after what was a difficult week for oakland. police increased patrols for lake merritt for lake fest following a shooting on wednesday night that left more than a dozen people injured, organizers tell abc seven news reporter cornell bernard that they are staying positive. around three. >> the lake fest is a family picnic. >> travel at hernandez and his crew ready to greet the public at lake fest, the event he founded on lake merritt. >> welcome to lake fest. thank you. >> this year, attendees are lining up outside for a security check. the festival, surrounded by blocks and blocks of fencing, trevelle says it's all about safety. >> we gated the whole park,

we're checking bags and making sure no one has weapons or anything. >> on wednesday night, gun violence rocked a juneteenth celebration near lake merritt. oakland police say 15 people were wounded. the shooting is one of the biggest in the city's history, and a lot of my friends who are older, i'm 74, so a lot of my friends are older. >> like, well, i don't know, sandra. i don't know if it's going to be safe. >> sandra black says she isn't seeing big crowds at lake fest like last year, but assured her friends the festival is safe in the wake of the shooting. >> it's great. it's safe. there's plenty of police around that don't. we cannot let these knuckleheads interfere with us living a good life. >> the opd providing a large police presence of 30 to 50 officers at lake fest inside the event and out with numerous street closures. >> so i think so. naturally there are some concerns. you can't help it. >> lemonade five one owner jade lee, was a bit reluctant about being a vendor at lake fest in the wake of the violence, but

appreciates security measures around the event. >> unfortunately, there is violence. there's violence in america, there's violence in oakland, and we're going to move on and we're going to have a safe environment. free samples. strike two. >> big surge. oseguera has been barbecuing delicious things at lake fest for years. this is our third year. >> we have never seen a fight, anybody arguing ever. so, you know, everybody's just here for a good time, right? for ever. >> chevelle was hoping 15,000 people would show up for lake fest to have a safe, relaxing, fun day. >> there aren't many things to do in oakland where we can all come together as one culture and enjoy ourselves and we're hoping to do that and keep continue to do it in oakland. >> cornell, bernard, abc seven news. >> well, we now have a budget deal in sacramento state. democrats have agreed to delay the planned health care worker minimum wage from taking effect to help close the state's more than $46 billion budget

shortfall. health care workers were supposed to get a july 1st raise, but under the terms of the deal, that will be delayed until october 15th, that's only if the state's revenues between july and september are looking good. if that does not happen, the soonest a raise would take effect would be in january. lawmakers will likely vote on the deal next week. state republicans say they were left out of all of these negotiations happening now. the twin peaks tunnel between the west portal and forest hill stations is closed for repair work. sfmta recently completed a structural inspection of the tunnel. it found it is safe for passengers and workers, but two areas within the tunnel do need some immediate repair work. muni metro service is interrupted for the k ingleside. the l taraval and the m ocean view lines. shuttle busses are connecting those lines while the tunnel is closed through tonight and also happening now in the east bay. bart is working on replacing interlocking sections of the troc between rockridge,

macarthur and 19th street stations. free busses will replace train service between rock ridge and 19th street stations for the rest of the weekend. red line services canceled. the orange line ends at macarthur station, and bart says riders can expect up to a 40 minute delays through the area. happening today in monterey county, caltrans is reopening highway one at rocks at paul slide, a rock slide near big sur back in january of 2023, sent tons of rock and mud onto the road, and it caused a 4.3 mile section of the scenic byway to be closed for nearly a year and a half. the repairs cost about $60 million. now let's get a check on that forecast with lisa. lisa, we had a hot day yesterday, but today you're saying it's a little bit of a cool down, right? >> yeah, it was 55.5 moon bay yesterday. 101 in livermore. so a good 46 degree spread. and the bay actually got pretty breezy in the afternoon. what a view

the owner has been vocal about the strain that the new $20 minimum wage for california fast food workers has had on his business. new details about the push to bring giant pandas to the san francisco zoo. the big challenge will be paying for them, and we're getting a better idea of how much it will cost. the san francisco chronicle reports. the zoo's financial director put the cost at as much as $70 million for a decade, and that includes the panda enclosure. thousands of pounds of bamboo per month and the cost to rent the pandas from china. animal rights groups claim that 70 million is a low estimate. mayor london breeds a fundraising plan is focused on raising $25 million. the zoo's deputy director says it's premature to put a price tag on what pandas would cost in the east bay. hayward held its fourth annual juneteenth freedom celebration yesterday. hey, darling. darling, you stand by me. good music there. the event

was held in downtown hayward on c street, and it featured live music, delicious food, a beer and wine garden. also some family fun and it was a chance for the community to support local black owned businesses. well happening today, the annual sunday streets returns to san francisco for the nonprofit livable city aims at reclaiming car congested streets, transforming them into spaces for everyone to enjoy. today's event will be held in the tenderloin neighborhood on golden gate avenue between jones and hyde streets, and there will be activities for children, musical performances and also a lot of food. the festivities run from noon until 5 p.m, so it sounds like that's going to be a lot of fun too. well, last night it was san francisco's first annual pride prom at the san francisco center. while it is open to everyone, the night was a way for lgbtq plus people to have a prom night specifically geared towards them. but as abc seven news reporter tim johns tells us, it's also a way to

help revitalize the city's downtown core. yes, i got yes, i got. >> it was a night of music, dancing and a whole lot of pride. on saturday, the first annual pride prom was held under the rotunda of the san francisco center. >> come in a judgment free zone. express yourself. be bold. the only rule is you have to have a great time. >> ben kaplan is one of the organizers. he says the goal of the prom is to create a fun and inclusive event for everyone. someone decided to do just that was angel tapia. tapia tells me she never got the chance to go to prom when she was in high school. >> i didn't come out in high school and i've never been very comfortable in the prom setting, so this is kind of my opportunity as a 25 year old woman to get that prom experience. >> the organizers tell me the prom is about a lot more than just expressing one's pride, though. it's also a way to help revitalize the city's downtown core. supervisor matt dorsey represents this district and is openly gay himself. >> it's a prom, and i haven't

been to a prom since i had a girlfriend. that's how long ago that was, dorsey says. >> events like these are exactly what the city needs right now. since the end of the pandemic, san francisco's core has struggled with empty office buildings, vacant storefronts, and lackluster foot traffic. the san francisco center mall itself has notoriously lost several big name stores in recent years. dorsey believes things like the pride prom helped not only bring people back to this neighborhood once again, but remind them of everything it has to offer. >> we had a slow comeback from covid and we are not getting out of that as fast as some other cities. but i've been i've been around san francisco for a long time, and i've seen our ups and downs and that happens. but the fundamental of san francisco are really strong. >> and given that hundreds of tickets were sold for saturday's event, kaplan says he's looking forward to hosting even more proms in the years to come. >> i think right now it's important to just remind ourselves of what makes san francisco great, why you should be proud, and why all of us can

come to better. no matter what your background is, your orientation is in san francisco. >> tim johns, abc seven news. >> well, today, the fifth annual people's march and rally will take over the streets of san francisco. the event is meant to represent brown, black and indigenous people. participants retraced the route of the first gay liberation march, which ran from polk and washington, to civic center plaza back in 1970. the rally starts at 11 a.m. it's followed by the march to civic center plaza, and a music festival runs from noon to four. the first people's drag contest begins right after celebrate pride with abc seven news. all month long, and join us for the exclusive live coverage of the 54th annual san francisco pride parade. that's on june 30th, streaming everywhere you watch abc seven. we know a lot of you are going to be getting out there again today for all those fun weekend events. let's get a check of your forecast with meteorologist lisa argen and lisa. yesterday we had that heat, but today thankfully is

not going to be as hot. yeah. >> you know really it was confined to the inland valleys. we had 90 to 101 and then all that fog at the coast. so in between the breeze really kicked up around the bay late afternoon. so we only managed 80 redwood city, but we did have 85 in fremont, 84 in hayward, while san jose was shy of 90 degrees. so really the focus was definitely in our inland valleys where we had the heat advisory. right now, you see all the moisture in phoenix there, and then moving in to southern california in the next couple of days. we'll get some cloud cover out of that next week. beautiful view right here where skies right now are clear. there's a little patchy fog out there, but otherwise we're looking at a big range of temperatures. 47 half moon bay with 62. in san jose, redwood city is at 57, as well as oakland, san francisco 54. you are in the 60s yesterday and as we get a wider view here, you see a little haze right there at

the horizon. otherwise, in the water we are looking at 48 in petaluma. livermore is at a mild 63 at 70, with a southwest wind to 17. fairfield, 52, in santa rosa. and from our pier 39 camera. alcatraz. some fog in the distance there. not as hot today. we'll see some 90s inland , but they'll be low 90s, maybe mid 90s at best. early in the part of the workweek, the temperatures continue to moderate just by a couple of degrees, and then by the later part of the week, we get into a little bit more pronounced cooling where the fog returns. the fog is going to stay at the coast throughout the next several days, so we'll see the skies gray from the san mateo coast, but we'll get sun from point rays up through stinson beach. patchy sun there, but you can see how thick it is there from san mateo, half moon bay, pescadero. so that's where it's going to be. pretty much confined throughout the next day or two until we get to that more pronounced cooldown winds. they're pretty light this

morning, anywhere from 10 to 15 miles an hour. we get through the afternoon, and they'll pick up past about 20 miles an hour. so that typical sea breeze in the south bay today. numbers coming down a few degrees. 85 santa clara. temperatures from morgan hill will be warmer, about 90. they're looking at mostly sunny skies. 80s today for you, san mateo looking at 62 in redwood city, i should say the sunset. redwood city. i think you'll probably be in the low 80s today. 83 in novato, 87 calistoga. so still some warmth up in the north bay with mid 70s in berkeley, castro valley today warming through the low 80s. a nice summer afternoon for you. and then as we head inland, we'll be in the upper 80s for you in walnut creek, 95 in pittsburgh and the accuweather seven day forecast. we've got the heat easing today in our inland valleys. the mid 90s there about 80 around the bay 60s coast side. the cooling continues just slightly tomorrow. and then you'll notice the mild to warm conditions on wednesday getting a bit breezier on thursday. and you notice what

picked up in the afternoon. so many temperatures weren't realized. but the inland valleys did see the triple digit heat. hayward was in the 80s. san jose shy of 9062 right now. redwood city 56. and you were only 80 degrees on the peninsula today, some upper 70s for redwood city. there's a look at our exploratorium camera. we need some windex on that lens there. 52 santa rosa. it's 56 in napa with temperatures in the low 60s still holding in the livermore valley. 50s there in concord. so not as hot today inland coming down about five degrees or so. the early part of the workweek really features the temperatures still warm inland, but not as warm. so some low 90s holding there in the later part of the workweek, looking at some 80s returning into thursday and friday in our inland valley. so this is the sea breeze picks up throughout the afternoon, allowing for the temperatures to not get too hot in our inland valleys. a breezy san francisco at about 15 to 18 miles an hour on the peninsula, so nothing too
