i'm gloria rodriguez here with meteorologist lisa argen. we've been talking about the hot temperatures out there. i know yesterday a lot of people were heading to the coast for the warmer temps, even though it was foggy, fogged in. right? yeah. is today going to be a little bit better in terms of sun on the coast? >> not really. it did clear a little bit. you were telling me so, but that was late in the afternoon. we still have some really dry air in the upper elevations. and that's why the national weather service has put out a slight risk for isolated thunderstorms. southern monterey san benito county, from that moisture there well to the south of us, it is only uh- 8% relative humidity on top of mount diablo, with an air temperature of 79. it's also 79 mount tam with 13% relative humidity, so the warmer numbers above are inversion with the dry, dry air, it is 63 clear in san jose, 54 san francisco. this shot has partly cloudy skies. the golden gate bridge 50. santa rosa 70 by the delta, so still some warmer air there anywhere from two to about 15 degrees

milder. this morning we had a lot of warmth yesterday. we had the breeze in the afternoon today by about 10:00. we're in the 60s and 70s away from the coast. you see the fog at the shoreline there late in the afternoon, some 80s, mid 90s inland for about five degrees cooler east of the caldecott tunnel. gloria, lisa, thank you so much. >> we are still waiting to hear from the fbi on why agents showed up at the mayor's home on maiden lane in oakland before dawn on thursday. other agents, including from the irs, raided the embarcadero offices of california waste solutions, which runs the city's recycling company. two homes on bucharest court and skyline boulevard were also raided. they're connected to the duong family, which runs california waste solutions as a federal investigation gets underway linked to business owners in oakland, the spotlight remains on oakland's embattled mayor. a growing number of voices are calling for shengtao to resign, including the oakland chapter of the naacp. abc7 news

reporter anser hassan got an interesting reaction from one of the leaders of the recall effort . >> on saturday evening, oakland mayor sheng tao's house showed no sign that anyone was home, but on friday, the lawyer for the embattled mayor spoke about the pending federal investigation into possible public corruption. >> i would point out the search warrants were for the address. okay, okay. >> and that's significant because it's significant because, again, we don't have any information that indicates that mayor tao is the target of the investigation. on early thursday morning, fbi agents raided mayor tao's home and hauled away boxes of evidence brass points out the warrants were for the address where mayor tao lives, not for mayor tao specifically. >> the mayor has not been arrested. this is a search warrant only. there are no restrictions on the mayor. >> the feds also targeted two homes related to the duong family, who are big donors to oakland politics. though brass states the mayor doesn't face

any restrictions. there's a growing number of voices in the community calling on the mayor to resign and resign. >> now, mayor tao and let november 5th be the election day for a new mayor. >> on wednesday, the day before the raid, a rally was held in front of city hall to announce that city officials ratified the number of signatures necessary for the recall of mayor tao to qualify for the november ballot. judge brenda harbin forte, a former alameda county superior court judge, says it's even more critical for tao to gracefully step down given this open federal investigation. >> the fbi is never going to tell you you are or not a target of an investigation when they don't have to tell you that, judge harbin forte says tao is entitled to the presumption of innocence. >> acknowledging the tao hasn't even been charged. but the judge believes this investigation will be a distraction, especially as city council has to tackle a historic budget deficit. the

oakland chapter of the naacp issued a statement reading in part oaklanders deserve a mayor who's not distracted, fully committed and able to lead the city, experts say this current federal investigation could take months, if not longer. in oakland, anser hassan, abc seven news this is clearly an ongoing investigation and we're going to stay on it. >> so stay with abc seven news to learn the latest about what's happening with the mayor and how it will affect the city of oakland. we will continue to update abc seven news.com and the abc seven bay area app. cal fire says a fire that broke out sunday in sonoma county is now 85% contained. the so-called point fire has charred more than 1200 acres near lake sonoma. that's northwest of healdsburg. three structures were destroyed by the flames and two others were damaged. evacuation orders have now been lifted. cal fire says crews are pulling hoses and in the mop up phase, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. firefighters are making progress on the state's

largest wildfire. the sites fire in colusa county. containment is now at 38% contained. this morning, firefighters shared video of some of the 64 miles of control line that they've built to keep the fire from spreading. it has scorched more than 19,000 acres, but cal fire says no buildings have been damaged. new this morning in the north bay, a heavy police presence in vallejo involving a possible shooting investigation. video shows bullet casings and dozens of yellow evidence markers. police closed off springs road near monterey street, and officers were also seen a block away on kentucky street. we're working on gathering details about what happened and about any possible injuries. the area around lake merritt was packed last night after what was a difficult week for oakland. police increased patrols for lake fist following a shooting on wednesday that left more than a dozen people injured. organizers tell abc seven news reporter cornell

15,000 people would show up for lake fest to have a safe, relaxing, fun day. >> there aren't many things to do in oakland where we can all come together as one culture and enjoy ourselves. and we're hoping to do that and keep continue to do it in oakland. >> cornell, bernard abc seven news. >> looks like they had a fun time. well, we now have a budget deal in sacramento state. democrats have agreed to delay the planned health care worker minimum wage from taking effect to help close the state's more than $46 billion budget shortfall. health care workers were supposed to get a july 1st raise, but under the terms of the deal, that will be delayed until october 15th, that's only if the state's revenues between july and september are looking good. if that does not happen, the soonest a raise would take effect would be in january. lawmakers will likely vote on the deal next week. state republicans say they were all left out of these negotiations. happening now. the twin peaks tunnel between the west portal

and forest hill stations is closed for repair work. sfmta recently completed a structural inspection of the tunnel. they found it is safe for passengers and workers, but two areas within the tunnel need some immediate repair work. muni metro service is interrupted for the k ingleside ride. the l taraval and the m ocean view lines. shuttle busses are connecting those lines while the tunnel is closed through tonight and also happening now in the east bay. bart is working on replacing interlocking sections of the troc between rock ridge, macarthur and 19th street stations. free busses will replace train service between rockridge and 19th street stations for the rest of the weekend. red line service is canceled. the orange line ends at macarthur station. bart says riders can expect up to 40 minute delays through the area, happening today in monterey county. caltrans is reopening highway one at paul slide, a rock slide near big sur. back in january of 2023, sent tons of

permanently today. news of the closure was posted on the front door of the business yesterday. according to a reddit user. the franchisee owner wrote in the announcement that all of the employees were offered jobs at nearby locations. the mcdonalds has been a longtime fixture there on 19th avenue for more than 30 years. in recent weeks, the owner has been vocal about the strain that the new $20 minimum wage for california fast food workers has had on his business. new details about the push to bring giant pandas to the san francisco zoo. the big challenge will be paying for them, and we're getting a better idea of how much that's going to

cost, the san francisco chronicle reports. the zoo's financial director put the cost as as much as $70 million for a decade, and that includes a panda enclosure. thousands of pounds of bamboo per month and the cost to rent the pandas from china by animal rights groups claim that $70 million is actually a low estimate. mayor london breed's fundraising plan is focused on raising $25 million. the zoo's deputy director says it's premature to put a price tag on what pandas would cost in the east bay. hayward held its fourth annual juneteenth freedom celebration yesterday. our goal is to stay finally. and the event was held in downtown hayward on c street. it featured live music, delicious food and a beer and wine garden, and also some family fun. and it was a chance for the community to support local black owned businesses. happening today, the annual sunday streets returns to san

francisco. the nonprofit livable city aims at reclaiming car congested streets, transforming them into spaces for everyone to enjoy. today's event will be held in the tenderloin neighborhood on golden gate avenue between jones and hyde streets, and there will be activities for children, musical performances and lots of food. it goes from noon until 5 p.m. last night, it was san francisco's first annual pride prom at the san francisco center, and while it is open for everyone, the night was a way for lgbtq plus people to have a prom night specifically geared towards them. but as abc seven news reporter tim johns tells us, it's also a way to help revitalize the city's downtown core. yes yes, i cry. >> it was a night of music, dancing and a whole lot of pride. on saturday, the first annual pride prom was held under the rotunda of the san francisco center. >> come in a judgment free zone.

express yourself. be bold. the only rule is you have to have a great time. >> ben kaplan is one of the organizers. he says the goal of the prom is to create a fun and inclusive event for everyone. when someone decided to do just that was angel tapia. tapia tells me she never got the chance to go to prom when she was in high school. >> i didn't come out in high school and i've never been very comfortable in the prom setting, so this is kind of my opportunity as a 25 year old woman to get that prom experience. >> organizers tell me the prom is about a lot more than just expressing one's pride, though. it's also a way to help revitalize the city's downtown core. supervisor matt dorsey represents this district and is openly gay himself. >> it's a prom, and i haven't been to a prom since i had a girlfriend. that's how long ago that was. >> dorsey says events like these are exactly what the city needs right now. since the end of the pandemic, san francisco's core has struggled with empty office buildings, vacant storefronts, and lackluster foot traffic. the san francisco center mall itself has notoriously lost several big

name stores in recent years. dorsey believes things like the pride prom helped not only bring people back to this neighborhood once again, but remind them of everything it has to offer. >> we had a slow comeback from covid and we are not getting out of that as fast as some other cities. but i've been i've been around san francisco for a long time, and i've seen our ups and downs and that happens. but the fundamental of san francisco are really strong. >> and given that hundreds of tickets were sold for saturday's event, kaplan says he's looking forward to hosting even more proms in the years to come. >> i think right now it's important to just remind ourselves of what makes san francisco great, why you should be proud, and why all of us can come to better. no matter what your background is, your orientation is in san francisco. >> tim johns, abc7 news. >> today, the fifth annual people's march and rally will take over the streets of san francisco. the event is meant to represent brown, black and indigenous people. participants retrace the route of the first

gay liberation march, which ran from polk and washington to civic center plaza back in 1970. the rally starts at 11 a.m. it's followed by the march to civic center plaza. a music festival runs from noon till four. the first people's march drag contest begins right after that. celebrate pride with abc seven news all month long and join us for the exclusive live coverage of the 54th annual san francisco pride parade. that's on june 30th and it's streaming everywhere. you watch abc seven. so of course it is sunday. a lot of you are planning your rest of your weekend, so let's check in with meteorologist lisa argen tracking the forecast. and lisa, is it going to be another nice warm day out there today. yeah. >> but certainly some cooling is setting up. we're looking at some live pictures of fog and yesterday that breeze kicked up. so while there was fog still at the coast it was only 55 degrees. half moon bay, 101, in livermore, concord 99. so certainly the heat inland right now live doppler seven picking

up on some moisture there. southern california, arizona. and they're looking at some rain. possibility of thunderstorms forms and unfortunately lightning. this could be traveling as far north as san benito county in southern monterey. so any lightning could, certainly set off a grass fire. so they're watching that as far north as central california. we'll get into some cloud cover from that probably by about tuesday. but as for the next few days, our weather is dictated by the low clouds and fog. as you can see from our sutro tower camera that we are looking at the patchy fog around the city 55 temperatures today, a little cooler in the city, a bit below average. usual high is about 67 this time of year. should see low 70s in oakland. about that today 57 there right now 58. in hayward 63. san jose. the coast only 46 degrees. half moon bay. those buoy temperatures are very cold. so we're getting a lot of upwelling offshore. so the ocean temperatures really transitioning to that la nina

phase from el nino, which really indicates the much colder ocean waters there. 50 santa rosa, 46 petaluma. it is 55 in napa with 70 by the delta, 60 in livermore. so still a little bit of warmth there. but really all of the warmth is above about 900ft or 1000ft, where temperatures are in the 70s, even 80s with very dry air. so not as hot today inland. in the next few days, we'll look for the temperatures to moderate just a little bit, so we'll keep it warm inland. but by the end of the week, looking at that fog becoming a little more widespread as a trough sets up to the north of us, and that will bring in a slightly cooler pattern. as for today, it's that typical sea breeze. the winds up to about 20 to 2425 miles an hour throughout the afternoon from the coast right along the bay there. otherwise, the fog sets up along the shoreline and it takes its time clearing from marin county and san mateo. not so much. once again, looking at that cold ocean waters, allowing for that stable air to create

the cloudy, cool conditions from half moon bay and pacifica in the south bay today. looking at upper 80s for you about 87 san jose. that's a warm day. all the 70s returning to the peninsula. 77, redwood city 76. in menlo park with mid 60s a few degrees shy of average, mostly sunny there in the city with some patchy clouds closer to the water. mid 80s, santa rosa and on the east bay shoreline. i just kind of popped out of there. 78 in hayward with 80 in union city, and you head inland. we've got some low to mid 90s, so that's cooler upper 80s, walnut creek and concord tonight . nice night with low 50s. this is towards morning 60 in san jose. and the accuweather seven day forecast. we've got some mid 90s inland about 70 to 80 around the bay. and notice that slight cooling. and then we come back a few degrees on tuesday and dropping back off thursday and friday. so not a whole lot of change except you know erasing

the awards in new york city at stake, a coveted jimmy award that could launch her stage career. abc seven news anchor dan ashley has her story. >> venice, l.a. meyer's parents may have worked in health care, but they knew their daughter had a special gift. the santa clara county native has been singing since she was three. some of her earliest memories come with a microphone in hand, serenading her parents with disney ballads. >> i was introduced to miss

saigon at the ripe age of two, and from then on i always knew that i just wanted to be a performer. >> but the living room was too small for venice. she wanted a bigger stage. >> i always loved putting on shows for my parents and then they started enrolling me in performance classes, and then doing theater activities, and then i just realized from there that i love telling stories and being another person for a couple of hours. i met the love of acting and singing has grown since she was that young girl belting out ballads for her parents. i think the reason i love doing theater so much is because for so long, i have never understood why i feel the way i feel or why i do the things i do. i remember just growing up feeling really disconnected from myself and from others, and then stepping into another person's shoes has really helped me understand why i am the way that i am, and how i've just been really blessed to be in a community where i am

good morning to you and happy sunday. i'm gloria rodriguez with meteorologist lisa. arjun. and of course we're starting the half hour with a look at. your weather was hot yesterday. today we're cooling down a little, right? >> yeah. 46 degrees spread from the coast where we saw limited sun to our inland valleys. and look at the fog that has returned from our sutro tower camera. it's not everywhere. the city is cool at 5557 in oakland, 58 in hayward. it is clear in san jose at 63. redwood city, 55. and the view from vollmer peak here, where you notice the clear conditions. this in our east bay valleys is where we're going to feel the cooling today. felt it yesterday around the bay 50 santa rosa. it's 57 in concord, 70 by the delta. so that warmth taking a while to erode. that's why we're warmer this morning by 2 to 4 degrees

for most of you in the east bay, by the delta it was pretty hot. so temperatures are pretty mild. this morning in the mid 90s by noontime. getting there you'll be in the 70s by 9:00. so it's a warm one, but not as hot as yesterday around the bay. we're in the 60s by nine and 70s to mid 70s around the bay shore. so it will be pleasant. the sea breeze kicks up, nothing too extreme and son north of ocean beach today. otherwise san mateo, the beaches south of there will be pretty cloudy and cool once again. gloria sounds nice. >> thank you lisa. this week, president biden and former president trump will face off in their first debate in years. the last time the american people saw them go head to head was in 2020. abc news reporter alison kosik explains how thursday's matchup will be different. >> the first debate in the 2024 election is just days away, and both candidates are preparing in their own ways. donald trump hit the campaign trail on saturday,

first in washington, speaking to a group of conservative evangelical activists. the former president then traveled to philadelphia, where he visited a local restaurant before speaking at a rally. >> will anybody be watching the debate on thursday night? i'm shocked. no, i'm shocked. >> meanwhile, president biden spending the weekend at camp david, his former chief of staff, ron klain, leading his debate prep for biden. >> i think it's going to be about really trying to hone in on what he describes as the chaos of the trump years. and for former president trump, he's going to be looking to seize on what he describes as the failures of the biden administration. >> thursday's debate will be different than when the two men faced each other back in 2020. there will be no studio audience, and the candidates mics will only be turned on when it's their turn to speak. the 90 minute matchup will take place thursday night. alison kosik, abc news, new york coming up on this week with just days before

the debate between president biden and former president trump. >> abc news reporter martha raddatz sits down with pollsters and presidential historians to get a grasp of the impact of debates in previous elections and what it could mean for this year's. you can watch a full interview on this week with george stephanopoulos at eight this morning, right here on abc seven. tackling homelessness is a critical part of building a better bay area. and this week, san jose took another step toward that goal. the city council agreed this week to look into adding eight safe sleeping sites for unhoused people. they would provide sanction places for people to camp with food, showers and other resources. mayor matt mehan originally proposed nine sites, but neighbors opposed a location near history park and now the city will figure out how much the eight sites would cost. san jose's most recent count shows more than 6300 unhoused people in the city, 4400 of those people live on the streets or

along rivers. elected officials and nonprofit leaders in silicon valley should expect to see a new report soon. it shows a growing gap between the richest and poorest residents. the san jose state human rights institute sent the recent 2024 silicon valley pain index report to local leaders. it studied 190 statistics from more than 100 recent studies conducted on silicon valley, and ideally, they would have shown progress on eliminating income inequality and discrimination. instead, the 2024 silicon valley pain index found they got worse, and the hope now is that leaders who can make change look at the report and listen. >> we know the patterns and we know the areas that are getting worse. we highlighted them in that report, in the report. and so we're saying respond to this need some of the key highlights show santa clara county is number one in the nation for unsheltered homeless. >> and it also ranks first in

percentage of unsheltered youth in the alum rock and eastside union school districts. the number of homeless students is almost three times higher than it was in 2020. a three bedroom home in san francisco's russian hill neighborhood is up for sale for a steal. just half $1 million. but of course, there is a catch. you may not be able to move in there for 30 years, and that listing drew a lot of interest recently. abc7 news reporter suzanne fawn has more on the unusual listing. >> it's a one of a kind listing in russian hill that drew a long line of prospective buyers. >> last week, my husband came in and said, you've got to look out the window, and there was a line from the house all the way to the middle of the block right here, this 1100 square foot home at 30 northview court in san francisco has three bedrooms and two baths, and it's for sale for about half $1 million. >> that price tag is definitely raising eyebrows among neighbors

we will look for a cool down, a decline in temperatures with that onshore flow throughout the day. today, this is emeryville looks a little hazy. air quality is moderate. it is 55, in san francisco and redwood city 57, oakland 58, in hayward, a cool 47 half moon bay. that's because the ocean water is very cold and we're looking at a lot of that upwelling offshore. 58 in hayward. and a look from our sutro tower camera where the fog has returned. it's patchy 50 santa rosa, upper 40s petaluma with mid 50s napa 57 concord. it's 70 by the delta from vollmer peak looking out towards the east bay. that's where the temperatures will be about six degrees cooler today. so not as hot for the livermore valley. san ramon. looking at the beginning of the week where temperatures will come down slowly, the latter part of the week, maybe even a little more pronounced as that fog. and a system sets up to the north and
