night vote by city council. >> and we're just hours away from the debate between president biden and former president trump. the role of governor gavin newsom will play during the big event. >> good morning to you. it is thursday, june 27th. >> we want to check on our weather. drew. >> it's pleasant out there. you liked yesterday equally as delightful today. but then we talk about some hotter weather moving in by the part of the weekend. we're out there celebrating pride on sunday, but this morning, a live look at the exploratorium camera. not a lot of cloud cover, but you look on the horizon. you can see a few of those clouds lurking out there. we have partly cloudy skies along the coast right now in the city and oakland. not widespread cloud cover. this morning, a lot of us starting out with clear skies, and that means we'll have a lot of sunshine today. but just like yesterday will be breezy this afternoon and temperatures a few degrees below average for this time of the year. so looking at current temperatures right now, 40 in our coolest valleys, mainly 50s around the bay shoreline as you get you going on this thursday. so looking at

the forecast inland, very similar to yesterday. it's splendid sunshine, pleasant temperatures will be in the mid 80s for daytime highs. look at all those sunny skies as we head deeper into the afternoon. now around the bay shoreline. it is cooler but still pleasant. upper 60s to the lower 70s. and again, that breeze is with us this afternoon. and then along the coast it will be a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day and highs in the low 60s. later today. let's check in with sue hall. see those drive times this morning? >> thank you drew and we are checking in at the golden gate bridge where it is just a gorgeous morning, not a shred of fog and smooth sailing. in fact, very few cars coming in southbound from marin county. i just want to mention we had roadwork in the northbound direction that has been picked up. and you can see it's just beautiful. if you've got to be up this early. just a nice ride. we've got about a 17 minute ride on the san mateo bridge headed from hayward, over towards the peninsula. those taillights moving across the causeway and up the incline section. otherwise, looking at the typical early morning commute

out of the central valley, about 45 minutes now from tracy, up and over the altamont. >> thanks, sue. that three alarm fire that broke out overnight at a supply company warehouse in oakland is now contained. the burn first ignited around 10 p.m. last night on the roof of the building on 24th street. fire crews were able to stop the flames from spreading from the main building to the yard, just after midnight. residents who live close by are still being told to keep all their windows closed. there's just a huge amount of smoke in that area and to another fire. now this one. a grass fire in contra costa county. it's 75% contained. that fire grew rapidly yesterday afternoon, burning 255 acres in about two hours near the antioch brentwood border. it started along deer valley road near residential community. it had plenty of dry grass for those flames to feed on. firefighters used bulldozers and fire retardant to keep the flames from reaching homes. >> new developments in half moon bay, where this morning farm workers and advocates are celebrating a big win. last

night, the city council denied three appeals, trying to stop an affordable housing development from going up the complex on kelly avenue will serve low income senior farm workers. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez has been following the story and gloria, the project is moving forward after extensive debate. >> it is amanda, last night's half moon bay city council meeting was contentious as supporters and opponents of the farm worker housing project spoke. the development will be a five story, 40 unit complex on kelly avenue in the city's downtown business district. it will also include a resource center for farm workers and some parking on the first floor. supporters say the development addresses dire housing conditions that co-site farm workers currently face, especially after the deadly 2023 mass shooting at two farms that exposed their living conditions. but opponents argued the project was just too big and would create traffic bottlenecks. >> something more appropriate. please not this project. it's

too big. >> the only way we're going to be able to house more people is to go up. >> we don't want to suffer anymore. please, let's keep forward with 5-5-5 kelly. >> the council dismissed the appeals for the project, clearing the path for the project to proceed. this is one of the final steps in a long and delayed process to get this project going. you may remember half moon based planning commission was accused of moving too slowly on the project, and it even caught the attention of governor gavin newsom, who threatened to intervene if the commission did not act. and the commission gave the project conditional approval in may. the next steps now are a leasing agreement for the property nonprofit alas, and mercy housing have been working on the project, and supporters say they are over the moon, with the city's council's decision last night. live in the studio, gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> thanks, gloria. new developments this morning on san francisco's budget critical funding amounting to $60 million has been restored to some programs. mayor london breed

originally proposed cuts to child care, food insecurity and violence prevention programs. funding for many of these programs has just been saved. supervisors gave final approval yesterday to a nearly $16 billion budget deal with the mayor. the budget also protects the mayor's proposed spending to revitalize downtown. now across the bay bridge, oakland is facing a historic $200 million budget deficit. the deadline to pass a new budget just three days away. city council members are focusing on the finance department's amendments to mayor shang tao's budget. it includes $63 million in cuts that may include freezing 100 police officer positions and 41 civilian staff for fire stations may also be on the chopping block. council president nikki fortunato. fortunato bass, excuse me, is demanding an audit of the city's assets when we get to our budget. >> discussions on friday. there is a policy directive in my

budget amendments so that we can do an inventory of our assets and those needs over the next ten years. >> there are also concerns that the sale of the oakland coliseum may not be finalized in time for the money to be used in this new budget. >> one week ago today, the fbi raided the home of oakland mayor xiang tao. she is still not taking any questions about the raid and has only made two public appearances since. the second one came yesterday in san francisco at a meeting of the metropolitan transportation commission. tao serves as a commissioner on the body's board, and she voted on several measures. she eventually left the meeting early, but tao's legal troubles and oakland's ongoing budget issues were mentioned. >> that's why i'm calling for the resignation from your committee of mayor chen tao so we can have a good committee. okay. thank you very much. >> earlier this week, mayor tao said she would not let last week's raid distract her from duties. now, abc seven news is working every day to uncover new details in the fbi investigation. if you want to

could that could result in him appearing less, less of a bully. >> crane says she believes president biden is coming into this debate as the underdog. you can watch the presidential debate right here on abc seven tonight. coverage starts at five, and the debate hosted by cnn, begins at 630. >> 508 this morning, we're in the south bay with a live look from our san jose camera. it's looking lovely out there. we do have clear skies this morning. not nearly as cloudy as we were yesterday. 57. that current temperature in san jose. great visibility and high humidity. right now. taking a look at our highs today versus average a very similar story to yesterday a few areas below average, a few areas above average. but for the most part we're pretty close to where we should be for this time of the year. our warmest areas going to the 80s, that's napa, livermore, santa rosa, 70s around the bay shoreline. and that's typically where we should fall. this time of the year. so looking at future weather is very limited cloud cover this morning we'll keep any of that cloud cover along the peninsula

coastline all day today for all of us. we see sunshine. we will see temperatures very pleasant and again our warmest areas in the 80s, 60s and 70s around the bay shoreline. so a high of 66 in the city today with a fair amount of sunshine. but it will be another windy day today. this afternoon we'll have those winds gusting about 20 to 30mph across san francisco, 72 in oakland, 79. in san jose. there's those 80s from concord to antioch, 89. the high in santa rosa, 81. in napa, across the state, temperatures are warm in the valleys, but very close to average. we're hot in our deserts, palm springs coming in at 112 with ample sunshine this afternoon back here at home the next three days. splendid sunshine. today we start to see warmer weather as we head into the weekend and the next week we're likely looking at a heat wave. we'll talk about the weekend forecast and that heat wave. reggie, coming up in just a few minutes. >> thanks, drew. we're in the final days of pride month and events are planned throughout the weekend. one popular event will not be happening and another leak at the supreme court. >> the decision on emergency

decisions on landmark cases as the court's latest term winds down now among the biggest pending decisions. the limits of presidential immunity. the question stems from a case brought by donald trump, who wants immunity from charges related to the 2020 election. in another case, a man allegedly involved in the capitol riot on january 6th, 2021, says he's been improperly charged with obstruction. the court's decision could affect charges against more than 350 other january 6th defendants. the high court must also decide whether hospitals in states with abortion bans are required by federal law to perform emergency abortions. the court accidentally released a draft

opinion on this yesterday, suggesting the court will allow emergency abortions to continue. the draft was removed and the court said its final decision has not been released. and in another case, the justices will decide if a city can ban unhoused people from sleeping in public when no shelter space is available. if not today, decisions are expected tomorrow. and developing news uc berkeley will expand its anti-semitism education this fall semester. the new requirement will be for all incoming students, leaders of student groups and residential assistants. university officials say the school will fund its anti-semitism, education initiative for at least five years. this change comes after a year when allegations of anti-semitism have soared at cal and other college campuses following hamas attack on israel back in october. >> the san francisco's 54th annual lgbtq pride celebration and parade just days away. sf pride kicked off the festivities yesterday and drew tuma was the

emcee for that event. he helped announce the community grand marshals for the weekend. the pride parade preview. the pride preview party there we go was held at the lgbt community center in the city, and this year's theme is beacon of love. now, one of the biggest events on pride weekend is actually not happening. the annual dike march at dolores park has been canceled. abc seven news reporter ryan curry spoke with several people who are disappointed about that decision. reporter >> on the day before the big pride parade, there is a smaller gathering honoring women of the lgbtq community. but the annual dike march is not happening. this year, the organizers of sf pride confirming this to abc seven, though the dike march is put on by different organizers, we did also just hear that the dike march, which is typically on saturday, has disbanded for now. >> it's for sure a bummer. yeah, pretty much yeah. i think that like with like the really thriving queer community we have in san francisco, i would hope that there would be more of an official thing.

>> hayes frye was eager to bring her girlfriend to her 1st march. >> there might be, like, little things that are going to happen, like people are probably going to, like put things together themselves, maybe with friends have stuff going on at the park. but, yeah, i'm. i wish it wasn't canceled. >> yeah. >> me too, but it might not be all bad news. the official march may be canceled, but the party isn't everyone. we spoke with says right here, dolores park, come saturday, will be home to a celebration. >> we're all still going to show up to the park on saturday. that's what me and my friend were just talking about, is how early to get here to get the blanket spot. >> what do you think this park is going to look like? come saturday? >> oh, it's going to be a wonderful rainbow madhouse for sure. >> some think a year off will allow the march to come back even better. carolyn wysinger, one of the board members of sf pride, thinks the march could return next year, with even more people attending. >> i feel melancholy about it not being here this year. i know that it will come back bigger and better next year. >> one thing is certain those we spoke with are not letting this news distract them from celebrating who they are.

>> i feel like it's always been a thing that has made me feel like it's okay to be myself, and growing up in this city, i've really appreciated that in san francisco, ryan curry, abc seven news and transit agencies are offering extra services on sunday for the parade. >> bart will open at 8 a.m. and will run five line service every five minutes through san francisco. caltrain will operate four northbound special events trains departing from san jose diridon station starting at 8:10 a.m, and sf bay ferry will have extra service. the first vallejo ferry departs at 815 in the morning. the first oakland and alameda ferry departs at 8:30 a.m. of course, abc7 is the official station for the san francisco pride parade. our coverage kicks off sunday at 10 a.m. the parade starts at 1030 and will still be led by dikes on bikes. see it wherever you watch abc7. >> it's the time has come. it is at that press preview yesterday, everyone was so excited to get

this weekend started. >> they could not wait for all the events. i mean, it's like june is like leading up to this all month long, you know? so now it's finally here and people are stoked. >> yeah, yeah. other cities have their pride parades earlier in the month. but this is really this is the real time to have it right at the end of the year. >> and the weather is going to be nice. you guys good? gonna look fantastic. in fact, warm temperatures, you'll start to feel that over the weekend. today, though, it's pleasant when it comes to our daytime highs. very similar to yesterday. a live look from our south beach camera. it's just a really beautiful picture this morning. we are cloud free in most areas. part of that reason is because we have a pretty active breeze right now. look at these winds across the city. we're gusting to about 31mph. pretty stiff breeze through the delta right now. and when you have these morning winds it tends to chop up our marine layer. and that's why we're seeing those clear skies this morning. look at the winds later on this afternoon. they will be quite strong along the coast. will likely see winds about 20 to 40mph along the coastline around the bay shoreline and inland. those winds closer to 20

to 30mph. and that's going to keep temperatures in check as we head into the afternoon. so highs today very similar to yesterday. if you like yesterday, you'll love today as well. temperatures in the 80s in our warmest spots inland 70s for oakland, palo alto, fremont, san jose. we'll go to 66 in the city, 80 that high in san rafael with a lot of sunshine overnight tonight. again, not a huge marine layer. will find partly cloudy skies and overnight lows in the 40s and in the 50s. as we take a look at the weekend for pride, starting off on friday in san francisco. mid 60s. but we'll start to see those warmer temperatures as we head deeper into the weekend. by sunday, we're topping out at about 70 degrees, which is fantastic news for the pride parade in san francisco. we'll have mostly sunny skies as we head into the afternoon. 2 p.m. it's warm sunshine. we're closing in on 70 degrees, but then that cooler breeze does kick in later on in the afternoon. and then the big headline heading into next week are those warmer temperatures. so looking at the weekend forecast, very pleasant on

back to earth. well, this morning we're learning about a historic bust just ahead of the july 4th holiday. these boxes you see on your screen are filled with 75 tons of illegal fireworks. they were uncovered over the weekend at a warehouse in gardena in southern california. police say the discovery is double the size of the previous largest bust in 2021. the estimated street value is up to $10 million. >> it's unbelievable. i mean, that's an astronomical amount of fireworks and the results of that could have been insane. >> three people were arrested. authorities believe the fireworks were imported from china. they say anyone involved with illegal fireworks can face a fine of up to $50,000 or jail time. >> four months after a fishing boat ran aground in bodega bay. salvage crews have completed recovery of that vessel. powerful waves in february ripped the aleutian storm ship apart, with pieces of it littering the beach at bodega

dunes state park. the press democrat reports. crews discovered a slab of steel along the bottom of the vessel. it was extremely heavy and may have anchored the ship to the ground, which is why it was surprisingly difficult to move. the coast guard, still investigating why that ship ran aground. >> we're learning new details about the moment a man missing for ten days in the santa cruz mountains was located by rescue crews. >> abc seven news reporter laura martinez spoke with the ranger who went on that life saving mission. he says a search dog is the true hero. but you're okay. >> you're a good boy. he's a good boy. >> state park ranger bret weber has to bring his dog to work. rhino is a law enforcement and tracking canine. >> working with the dog is the best, especially, i think, doing tracking and proximity alerts is probably my favorite things to do with the dog, because it's so much of dogs are great at watching human behavior, but humans aren't always great at watching dog behavior. >> last week, rhino senses led search and rescue teams directly to a missing at risk hiker, the

santa cruz county sheriff's office said lucas mcleish had been lost for ten days in the santa cruz mountains last thursday, the sheriff's office launched drones similar to the ones pictured here to help pinpoint where the 34 year old was. >> eventually, the drone, ended up in the area of foreman creek and we heard someone yelling that the drone was right over their location with a general area in mind, weber said. >> he held on to the leash and followed rhino. >> we had a really steep hillside on the right side of us that rhino wanted to pull to a few times, and in training where i say, trust your dog. and so i was like, if he wants to pull up that, there's probably a reason i'm going to trust him on this one. >> all that training and trust paid off. rhino was the first to reach mcleish, seeing him was just this was great. >> like we're going to get him out of here. >> weber gave the tired but thankful hiker his shirt and

when i asked weber how it felt to find him, he was quick to say their part was minimal. >> very humbling to see so many people come together and to see the family reunited at the end. i and like i said, lucas really saved himself. if he if he wasn't out there that long and still strong enough to cry for help or call for help. he at minimum would have been out there a lot longer and it's cool too, because he's just he's just doing his job. he doesn't know how. >> bud in the south bay lauren martinez abc seven news. >> a special 25th anniversary for oakland's warriors basketball academy steph curry made a surprise visit at the warriors basketball camp at the oakland facility. he gave high fives to all the children. then all the kids watched him practice for about 45 minutes. they also got to witness a special treat when curry made his inevitable half court shot. curry also made sure there he is. curry also made sure to leave the young players with some advice. he told them to

appreciate the opportunity to attend the camp, to listen to their coaches and be good teammates. and the golden state warriors unveiled new all black uniforms, and they are packed with symbolism. a thin blue line represents the bay bridge and the dotted texture symbolizes the inner cables holding up the bridge. there's also a new logo, a stylized w you see there resembles a hoop and a net. it will be used as a team secondary logo nba teams can have up to five uniforms per season, and a legal fight could delay the reopening of one of san francisco's most iconic buildings coming up at 530. why a luxury private club is suing the owner

decision last night and the next steps are a leasing agreement for the property. community members were hugging after the half moon bay city council voted to deny three appeals against farmworker housing for seniors. last night's meeting was contentious as supporters and opponents of the development spoke. it will be a five story, 40 unit complex on kelly avenue in the city's downtown business district, will also include a resource center for farmworkers and some parking on the first floor. it was a win for supporters of the farm worker community, especially after the 2023 deadly mass shooting that explodes exposed the deplorable housing conditions that many farm workers face. opponents argue that the project was too big and would create traffic bottlenecks. >> my concern is for the parking 40 units, 18 underground parking spaces. there should at least be at least one for the 40.

where the alaska airlines max jet left without the bolts on the door panel. here's abc news reporter gio benitez. >> in this morning's gma first look behind the scenes at boeing for the first time since that max nine door plug blowout in january, boeing is taking reporters behind the scenes in a highly choreographed and controlled tour of its renton, washington factory. this is where that alaska airlines plane was built, and it left here without those critical bolts on the door block. boeing says the plane's fuselage arrived at this factory from spirit aerosystems with defects, so boeing employees had to remove the door plug. but at the end of the production line, the plane had to be moved outside. a move crew put the door plug in without the bolts. we do have confidence that no other airplane was delivered like this, but we want to make sure it never happens again. and coming up at 7 a.m, we'll have much more from the boeing 737 max factory with your gma first look i'm gio benitez

abc news, new york. >> new developments in the battle over maintaining telephone landlines in some rural communities. it's been just one week since the california public utilities commission rejected at&t s application to stop providing landlines. now, a new bill in the state legislature would let at&t and other carriers of last resort get out of the requirement that they provide landline service in areas with poor cell phone coverage. >> a bill that's being rammed through by at&t to basically say, we don't want to be regulated by the california public utilities commission anymore. give us our pass. >> the bill goes before a key senate committee next tuesday. last week, the cpuc indicated it was willing to change its carrier of last resort requirements to take into account new phone and internet technologies. >> p-g-and-e's bills are set to drop in july, but only temporarily. the utility says it will stop collecting temporary
