debate of the presidential campaign. it took trump supporters just minutes to target biden's age. following this pause, dealing with everything we have to do with, look, if we president also sounding hoarse, his team says he has a cold for 90 minutes. biden and trump were peppered with questions on the issues impacting americans. biden pledging to protect abortion rights. >> no politician should be making that decision a doctor should be making those decisions. that's how it should be run. that's what you're going to do. and if i'm elected, i'm going to restore roe v wade and accusing trump of sparking the january 6th attack on the capitol. and now he says if he loses again such a winery that he is, that could be a bloodbath. >> trump hammering biden on inflation. >> the jobs went down and then they bounced back and he's taking credit for bounce back jobs. you can't do that, he also said he inherited 9% inflation. now he inherited almost no inflation. and it stayed that

way for 14 months. >> and promising to crack down on illegal border crossings. >> we have a border that's the most dangerous place anywhere in the world. consider the most dangerous place anywhere in the world. and he opened it up at stake. >> with just over four months left in the campaign season, millions of voters unenthused by their choices. the next and final presidential debate, hosted by abc news, is scheduled for tuesday, september 10th. christiane cordero, abc news, atlanta. >> governor gavin newsom shared his reaction just after the debate. he was there in the spin room in atlanta and made it clear he was just there as a supporter of the president, not an aspiring 2024 candidate. >> i spent a lot of time with him. i know joe biden. i know what he's accomplished in the last three and a half years, i know what he's capable of, and i know his vision, and i have no, no trepidation. >> newsom was live tweeting and fact checking donald trump's statements during the presidential debate, and we just spoke with our abc seven news

insider, phil matier, on the candidate's performance tonight and how it will weigh on voters minds going forward. >> joe biden, president, went in to debate donald trump. the idea was to best trump he walked out with triggering a debate within his own party about whether he should continue being the candidate. it's being openly discussed tonight. that is not a way you want to walk out of a debate. no matter. that is not the republicans questioning whether you should be up there. it's your own party, members of your own party. now, a lot of this is backroom chatter right now. we'll see if it manifests itself. but, you know, there is a difference between being a politician and an elected official and being a candidate. you can be a capable president or a capable mayor, but you can also be a not a bad candidate. and tonight, joe biden was a bad candidate. donald trump was not a great candidate. you could say he was a bad candidate. but the trump that walked in there with a snarl on his face is the donald trump that we've seen on television and radio for the past eight years. there was no

new surprises. the joe biden that walked out there. and for many people, that was their first look at him after issues came up about his age and what they saw was off putting to say the least. >> and he says biden needs to work on his ability to connect with people instead of just listing off statistics of his presidential wins. multiple watch parties were hosted in the bay area tonight. this one was at manny's in san francisco's mission district. it came with a progressive perspective. the invite warns trump's america would give tax breaks to the ultra wealthy and rip away women's reproductive freedoms, whereas they say biden's vision would protect freedoms and give americans a fair shot. and at keyser's pub on stanyan street in san francisco, a watch party represents the other side of the political aisle. organizers claim it has the place to be for bay area conservatives. tonight they had some local candidates join them for their own commentary on all the discourse. >> a third party candidate, robert f kennedy jr, hosted his own real debate from a studio in

los angeles tonight. it was streamed on social media. kennedy blamed both former president donald trump and president biden for running up the deficit that is causing high inflation. >> president trump came into office promising to balance the budget instead, he spent more money in office than every president in united states history combined. as biden is, will beat him. he's already run up $6.3 trillion in debt, and by the time he leaves office, he'll have run up more than president trump. >> analysts say the debt under each administration was due to both partizan and bipartisan policies. kennedy failed to qualify to join the presidential debate tonight because of his low poll numbers. so far. his economic policy proposals include raising the federal minimum wage and expanding free child care. well, abc news fact checked both biden and trump's claims during the debate. you can find that, along with reaction from the republican and democratic parties, it's all on

our website. just head to abc seven news.com. >> a sports bar in san francisco's sunset neighborhood took on the nfl and won. a jury found the league violated antitrust laws with their sunday ticket subscription. abc seven news reporter ryan curry tells us what this means for sports bars and fans. >> nestled right on ninth avenue near irving street is mucky duck. it's your typical sports bar neon beer signs in the window, fans sitting at the counter and signs telling you they've got the game on. but the owners of this san francisco bar just secured a major victory. >> it's david and goliath, i love it. it's amazing. >> the bar is the david. the goliath is the national football league. on thursday, a jury ruled the league violated antitrust laws with their sunday ticket subscription. that package allowed people at home and businesses to watch every nfl game. however, it was only available through one provider, and the lawsuit says the league sold it at an inflated price. >> the deal that sunday ticket and the nfl had always struck me

as unfair. robert freund practices e commerce law and says this subscription was hurting consumers. the prices are just thrust upon them. here's the deal. take it or leave it. and that's really exactly the point of why antitrust laws exist. >> those consumers include noah roberts, who works at little shamrock around the corner from mucky duck. he says the sunday ticket subscription was not the best for their business. >> you want to be able to have every game on and then when one league just charges it, an insane amount of money, your hands are tied because yeah, you have to put it on. and then two, you're losing money. so what do you do? do you lose the fans? do you you know, not sell beer. what do you do? the league now has to pay over $4 billion in damages. >> the owners of mucky duck did not want to comment because the nfl is planning on appealing this decision. they said in a statement we will certainly contest this decision as we believe that the class action claims in this case are baseless and without merit. but until that appeal goes through, those we spoke with say what mucky

duck did is a win for sports bars and consumers everywhere. >> i think it's awesome that they took it on themselves. represents the inner sunset, represents san francisco, and then also to just, you know, promote the entire country, you know, win that war. and it just represents the neighborhood bars everywhere, a neighborhood bar where watching a game should not come with a heavy price tag in san francisco. >> ryan curry, abc seven news. >> happening tomorrow, oakland city council is set to hold a special budget meeting. tomorrow is the deadline to pass a balanced budget, but council members tell us they will likely ask for an extension until june the 30th. in may, oakland mayor chen tao submitted a proposed budget which includes more than $100 million from the sale of the oakland coliseum property. but just on tuesday, the finance department submitted a revised budget proposal that does not include that money. since the sale is not yet final, it's expected that either way, oakland will face a major deficit and budget cuts the next several years in the east bay,

and newark city council member abruptly resigned, effective today. the reason why is interesting, though. on facebook, mike bucci explains his family's uh- his family saying, writing, unfortunately, we're just the next people in a long line of folks who have been priced out of town. we tried to buy a home a number of times over the years, but it never happened for us. now the window has closed and any chance we had to stay in newark is long past. bucci was first elected to the newark city council in november of 2014. tonight, newark city council decided to invite applicants to fill the seat until a special election can be held come november. >> so this is an unprecedented for councils to fill these positions. and if we want to continue to do the people's business without pause or delay, i think we need to fill that position. >> the council will hold a special meeting on july the 8th to interview the applicant, and

sandhya. an effort is underway to stop food vendors from gathering outside oracle park. sf gate reports that it includes the giants and several san francisco government agencies. the department of public health confirmed to sf gate that health inspectors were at the park during monday's giants cubs game. there are also new signs outside of several park gates advising against unauthorized vending and stating that items can, in fact be confiscated. last year, california officially decriminalized street vending. >> your renter's insurance may more than double if one insurance company gets its way. the insurer behind the request and a look at the numbers >> breaking barriers and building bridges a south bay man is making the art of dance more accessible while increasing the understanding of the lgbtq plus community. >> for the first time in more than 20 years, a pair of pandas has arrived in the u.s. from china, and their new home is in california.

to learn something new, but then when they are loved, it's a whole different thing. >> in san jose. lauren martinez, abc seven news. >> some emotional moments were caught on camera when a drag queen story hour at a south bay bookstore received a bomb threat . management of books, inc, in campbell received the threat by email yesterday. s.v. pride, the bookstore and campbell police made the quick call to not take any chances. we don't have anything tangible to be like, yeah, it's 100% fine. >> so it's your safety is more important than me reading a story. >> this time the threat was found to be not credible. the event and location have been a target before. two years ago, protesters went to the store story time and stood outside of the store heckling the host. this will not stop the organizers, though. sf pride says rsv pride rather says this was just one of the many events in it's proud to host leading up

to the silicon valley pride festivities in august, the city's police chief said today that his department will be at full deployment all weekend long. here in san francisco. he's urging everyone attending the parade or weekend events to be vigilant and keep an eye on their wallets, purses and cell phones. officials urging everyone to take public transportation this summer. >> transit agencies are offering extra services sunday for the parade. bart will open at 8 a.m, and we'll have trains running through downtown san francisco every five minutes. caltrain will operate special event trains departing san jose diridon station starting at 8:10 a.m, and sf bay ferry will have extra service. the first vallejo ferry departs at 815 in the morning. the first oakland alameda ferry departs at 8:30 a.m. abc7 is the official station for the san francisco pride parade. our coverage kicks off sunday at 10 a.m. parade starts at 1030. see it wherever you watch abc7, you may see a big increase in your next bill

for home or apartment insurance. >> this week, state farm asked state insurance regulators to approve a 52% rate increase for renters, 36 for condominium owners and 30% rate for homeowners. as reported by the chronicle. state farm did not respond to a request for comment. the company announced back in march it would not renew some 30,000 policies in california, largely because of fire and earthquake risk. state farm insurers 1 in 5 homes across the state. >> all right, let's check on our weather. we are getting close to the weekend and things are starting to heat up around here, too. >> we check back in now with meteorologist sandhya patel. >> yeah, julian and ama, it's going to be a gradual warm up for the weekend, but then the heat is on next week. we have a heat wave that we're tracking triple digits for expected inland, a stretch of hot summer days inland, warm around the bay. and of course, this means risk of heat related illnesses will be increasing. no advisories or watches have been issued yet, but i suspect those are coming as we get closer and

certainly higher fire danger. so an excessive heat watch has already been posted for next week. that's for the central valley as dangerously hot conditions are expected. now the climate prediction center is saying next week between july 3rd and the seventh, we're expecting above average conditions in terms of temperatures across much of the south and southeast near normal. and the northern tier states and above average out west, which includes us. it's a 40 to 60% chance that this is going to happen. here is a quick view of what we're expecting. so tomorrow in livermore average high is 86 degrees. it's going to be 89 low 90s over the weekend. so not bad. and then here we go. those temperatures soaring into the triple digits next week on live doppler seven. still a little bit of fog around that is going to expand as we go towards tomorrow morning, 50s to 70s on those temperatures right now. a live view from exploratorium camera looking at the city tomorrow morning. fog a warmer afternoon for pride weekend. we are expecting

seasonal summer pattern and next week that heat wave arrives. so let's talk about the pride parade on sunday. you couldn't ask for better weather. it's going to start off with the fog. low 60s. the sun breaks through by noontime, so i would layer up in the morning and then in the afternoon you can get rid of that because look at that mild and sunny in the low 70s and then breezy later in the afternoon. tomorrow morning we begin with some fog along the coast and around the bay. it pulls back to the beaches. by noontime you're looking at 70s and 80s while inland, and then in the afternoon you get up into the 80s and 90s inland. but still remaining in the 50s. coast side. your morning temperatures will begin in the 50s, and the 60s. watch out. visibility will be poor across parts of our coastal regions because of the fog and tomorrow afternoon it is up to 92. in fairfield, 91 in antioch, 59 in half moon bay, 67 degrees in san francisco. your accuweather seven day forecast 50s 60s coast side, 90s inland through pride weekend. it is going to be

is granted new panda loans to the u.s. in two decades. >> yes, yun swan and shen bao arrived at the los angeles airport this morning and will soon be living at the san diego zoo. the zoo says it is ready to make them feel at home, so there's a lot of vertical structures and a hillside and many, many things that that harken back to the mountains of sichuan. >> china's president says the panda bears are envoys of friendship between the chinese and american people. shen bao is a two year old female and is known to be gentle and well-behaved, while yunchuan, a three year old male, is smart and lively. the zoo will unveil the bears in the next few weeks. >> well, china has agreed to send the pandas next year to san francisco, but only with major upgrades to the zoo. mayor london breed worked on a deal

innings, and the a's had the day off. the warriors. you know they have been searching for a big man for a long time. they drafted another one today. the warriors trading the 52nd pick. and then they bought it back to take a seven footer from boston college. quinton post who averaged 17 points and eight rebounds per game for bc. and look at that. the big man shot 43% from three. now earlier the dubs traded that pick 52 to okc for six seven shooting guard lindy waters. now he didn't play much for the thunder shot 38% from three. he's the wingspan to be a good defender. gm mike dunleavy jr feels the dubs got two players who can help so much debate so much discussion in the room. >> you're building a board and all that stuff and it, you know, comes down. we only had one second round pick which we traded and then we decided we really needed to get it back. and yeah, we're so desperate to do so. we're able to pull it off. and, like i said, coming out of the day with a couple of good players that we like, usf forward jonathan mobo was taken with the 31st pick by the toronto raptors.
