pride shine across the city and the celebration is still going as it continues into the evening . abc seven news reporter cornell bernard is live at san francisco's civic center plaza, where the party is still going on. cornell >> hey, jr. happy pride. yeah, pride is loud and proud here at civic center. day two of the pride festival is really cranking. can you hear it? organizers estimated about 400,000 people would be coming out for the two day event. but, you know, even more people showed up for one of the largest pride parades in the world city that celebrates pride 365 days a year, the last sunday in june, is extra special. alex and christian came to feel the love down market street. >> it just means being able to be out here and supporting everyone and seeing the support that is out there for all of us. >> the theme for the 54th san

had some community members out this morning for a cleanup in dolores park. after yesterday's big celebrations in the park, people lent a hand to pick up trash with the perks of a dj, coffee and snacks provided gloves, trash pickers bags and silent disco headphones to get everyone involved. the event was hosted by love dolores, which educates visitors on their leave no trace principles to keep the park gorgeous for all. if you're visiting, remember to always carry out your trash to the bins located along the perimeter of the park. parade goers got treated to some picture perfect weather today, but cal fire says expect a potentially dangerous increase in temperatures this week. here is a live look outside around the bay area. the national weather service has already issued an extreme heat

warning and some watches out there. spencer christian joins me now to break that all down. but there are some concerns going forward. >> oh major concerns j.r. as you mentioned we have an excessive heat warning in effect now for virtually the entire bay area upgraded from or raised in severity level from an advisory yesterday. so here's the map. you can see all those areas shaded in that darker color there. that's the excessive heat warning for the entire bay area. the areas in yellow which would include the bay shoreline and santa cruz area. that's an advisory. but still, for all of these areas, the serious conditions, this kind of heat raises significantly the risk of heat related illnesses. you don't have to spend a lot of time outdoors for the heat to have a horrible effect on your health. now, here's a look at projected high temperatures over the next few days for tuesday. we're talking about numerous locations inland all around the bay area between 102 and 112 degrees, then on wednesday, pretty much the same range, about 102 to 110. this heat wave

isn't going to break until perhaps next sunday, so just about every day in the next seven days, we're expecting some some areas with the temperatures at or above 100 degrees. so just a few safety tips to keep yourself healthy during a heat wave like this. drink lots of fluids, of course. wear lightweight clothing. take breaks in the shade if you can find it, or air conditioning if you have access to it, and recognize the signs of heat related illness. so limit outdoor activity, especially any strenuous activity and never leave people or pets. obviously inside cars, even talk about some power shut offs that we could see this week that is always a concern for folks, especially in the north bay. that's likely to happen because of the strain on the grid. you know, when we have this kind of heat and everyone's trying to stay cool using the air conditioning or running water or whatever consumes energy and again, we're talking about health risks right now, which are of course, significantly uh- a very significant but then there's the increased risk of fire, which is also a major concern right now. we've got very low relative humidity.

winds are going to be a little gusty from time to time. and this excessive heat. >> thank you so much, spencer. all right. governor gavin newsom has signed california's budget to close an estimated $46 billion deficit. the move was made possible through $16 billion in spending cuts and increased taxes on certain businesses. companies with at least $1 million in revenue will have to pay the higher tax. lawmakers predict this will bring in an extra $5 billion for the state next year. the deficit was about $32 billion last year before growing even bigger this year. happening tomorrow several new state laws will take effect here in california. it will be illegal for landlords to charge more than one month's rent for a security deposit. the new law, introduced by san francisco assemblyman matt haney, restricts landlords from charging two times the monthly rent as a security deposit. haney says 53% of renters in the state can't afford their monthly

rent, but are not able to get an apartment because they can't afford two month's rent. here's a look at some other new laws taking effect tomorrow. one will require bars and nightclubs to stock drug testing kits. the move will allow customers to test their drinks for date rape drugs. there will also be higher gun taxes. anyone who buys firearms or ammunition in california will now pay an additional 11% tax. that's on top of existing federal taxes, and the state's 6% sales tax. the state will also enforce a cap on security deposits. landlords will be limited to requiring no more than one month's rent for a deposit. the fourth, the state is responding to workplace violence. this law requires california employers to create and implement workplace violence prevention plans. if you want to know what other state laws are taking effect tomorrow, we've put a list together that you can read and share with your friends. it's on

in last week's presidential debate. the new york times reports that president biden was told by family members to stay in the race during a gathering at camp david. this weekend. the trip was planned long in advance , but the times reports the purpose shifted after biden's rough debate. the president is trying to reassure donors that he has what it takes to stay in the race. this morning on cnn's state of the union, nancy pelosi tried to turn the attention to the lies of former president trump that he told during the debate and on biden's integrity. >> we see joe biden up close. we know how attuned he arts to the issues, how informed he is, and i debate with him about legislation and not debate, but discuss it with them. he's right there. so in any case, it was a bad night. let's not sugarcoat that. >> pelosi also said that if the democratic party chooses or were to choose another nominee at this stage, it could be chaotic.

a warning tonight for swimmers heading into what could be dangerous waters this holiday week. some areas are seeing a spike in water rescues due to rip currents, and off duty lifeguards sprang into action in florida this week when he got word of swimmers in distress. he raced into the water that had dangerous rip currents following an earlier storm, the lifeguard managed to save a whole family of swimmers who had been swept 200 yards into the gulf of mexico. >> the hard part is recognizing where these things are. oftentimes, if you're not trained to see them and locate them, you don't realize that you're in them. >> experts say low spots along the beach or areas near piers are often where rip currents form. they say if you're caught in one, you should try to swim parallel to shore to try and break that grip. the commute for thousands of bay area drivers is about to get more expensive. when we come back, we'll tell you about the toll increase taking effect on the golden gate bridge starting tomorrow.

dead on. now you're talking about this heat concern. now i'm a little concerned with this forecast. yes. >> we have health concerns and fire concerns as we're going to be in the grips of a heat wave like one we haven't seen in a long, long time. here's a look at what's going on right now. we've got some cooling breezes near the coast where i say cooling. i mean a little bit of relief if you're right there at the coast with gusts up to 41mph at sfo, at 22 mile per hour gusts at novato. so anywhere near the coast probably feels pretty good right now. but the concern is with gusts like that going into the week with the heat and the low relative humidity, that means increased fire risk right now under blue skies. 63 in san francisco, low 70s at oakland and hayward, upper 70s to about 80. redwood city and san jose. nice view from mount tam looking down onto the bay. no hint of any fog near the coast right now, or at least not near the golden gate. 93 in santa rosa 75. petaluma 84. napa 90 in fairfield and concord. and one more live view from emeryville looking toward the golden gate. these are the forecast headlines. heat wave this week. an excessive heat warning will be in effect from tuesday to friday. triple digit

temperatures will prevail all through the inland areas for about 5 or 6 days, anywhere from 100 to 112 degrees, and the heat will persist through the next six days into next sunday. before we get a break in that triple digit heat. so here is the excessive heat warning that covers virtually all of the bay area and excessive heat. watch for the areas right around the bay shoreline. again, this is in effect from tuesday morning to friday evening. and of course that means an increased risk of heat related illness. so try to limit your time outdoors if you can during the overnight hours. not much of a marine layer forming, maybe down along the peninsula coastline, maybe some drizzle offshore, but it's going to be mainly clear over land areas and under those clear skies. look for low temperatures, mainly in the mid to upper 50s and highs tomorrow ranging from 72 in san francisco to 80 in oakland. some mid to upper 80s around the bay shoreline and upper 90s inland. but now we've got the accuweather seven day forecast showing lots of 100 degree readings plus up to about 100 inland. tomorrow, uh- 112. in
