talking to first responders about how they are getting prepared. leslie >> as if this heat isn't dangerous enough, it's going to be going on, as you mentioned, for days and days, hot, dry air and as you can see behind me, extremely dry brush. and then you go and throw fireworks into the mix july 4th, plus a sustained major heat wave equals more than extreme fire danger in the east bay this week. >> what we've done in the fire service is created something that can go a lot more places, is able to get to fire lines out , in rural countrysides, four wheel drive roads and deliver water personnel and firefighting capabilities in addition to the usual array of apparatus at the ready, the alameda county fire department is up staffing and rolling out new plans, including a newly formed hand crew and volunteers on call. one of the, best assets and a fighting chance. we have is a bulldozer able to eliminate fuels and put a perimeter in. alameda county

lake yolo and shasta counties. the heat could also stress equipment in other areas, causing outages. >> when we have this 24 hour extreme heat, our equipment, specifically our transformers, don't have an opportunity to cool down and that can create stress in our equipment, which can lead to heat related power outages. >> cal iso, which monitors the state's power grid, says power supplies are adequate for now, but it is monitoring the grid for potential impacts with heat expected to last this long and few chances to cool off overnight, this week could really take a toll on our bodies. abc7 news reporter ryan curry is live with tips to keep you from healing. feeling the heat ryan. >> christine. good afternoon. we've kept this thermometer with us throughout the day. now we know the bulk of the heat is not arriving until tomorrow. but look, it's already at about 100 degrees, and we know that red dial is only going to get higher . >> i am sweating a little bit. i'm not going to lie. i just make it look good. it is. i'm a

san jose camera a bright view there. dangerous heat wave tomorrow through the end of the week. high fire danger with those gusty winds and low humidity coming up later on tonight and the heat eases on sunday. but when you see that accuweather seven day forecast, you'll see what i mean about not a whole lot of relief. high pressure is building in and this is what's going to bring us the heat. but it's also going to bring in higher fire danger as the winds come more out of the north northeast. so tomorrow morning you will notice in the northern portion of our viewing area going into the high to very high category, still going to be in the moderate to high category well into the afternoon. and then that high to very high repeats again going into wednesday morning. so that is concerning, especially with the wind coming more out of the north across some of our hills northeast. that is a very drying wind. and it will remain breezy. so it's not a strong wind, it's the direction of the wind combined with the heat and the lower humidity that is raising the fire danger. we also have a coastal flood advisory until 11

of an era, and we have casey and sandia joining us. as we reported earlier in the broadcast that espn is reporting that klay thompson is heading to the dallas mavericks as part of a sign and great deal aside from his greatness on the court. klay is undoubtedly one of the most beloved warriors of all time. sentimentally, it's sad for a lot of us, but casey, does this make sense? >> it does make some sense because the warriors last season offered him two years $48 million. he turned that down in hindsight that was actually a really good deal for klay that he didn't take. but yes it does hurt joe lacob will spend whatever it takes to win. but he said if this team is even if it's status quo, if it doesn't have a chance to land a huge star, then he's got to get some
