if you're working this week, it's a reason to perhaps work from home and keep the car parked. good morning to you. it is wednesday, july 3rd, and we have to start with that weather still in the middle of this heat. >> yeah. >> and really yesterday some areas saw their hottest days in about two years. and that continues this afternoon. in fact some areas might get hotter than yesterday. so here's a look at the excessive heat warning and heat advisory. again this is going to be up until next tuesday. so we're looking at an eight day heat wave. and we're at day two. look at some of these temperatures in our hills. it's currently 84 in the oakland hills right now some of the areas in the north bay mountains are closing in on 90 degrees already this morning. so we have a lot of warm air in place. we'll take you down to the surface and it is mild out there for a lot of our cities right now. we're in the 60s and 70, 74, in san rafael, 71 in hayward and san jose. good morning brentwood. you're currently at 84 degrees, so we need to get ready for another hot day dangerously hot inland. once again, lots of sunshine inland. we're back above 105 in our

hottest spots inland once again today. concord yesterday hit 108. a similar story today as we head around the bay shoreline. it's going to be hot once again. that heat advisory is in effect. look at these temperatures back into the 90s in our hottest areas. oakland yesterday hit a high of 93 degrees even along the coast it will be mild. but this is the place we're going to beat the heat. warmer than yesterday, but still comfortable. of those daytime highs in the 70s. let's check in with gloria. see those drive times are going. >> good morning drew. good morning everyone. so far it's looking pretty good out there on the roads this morning. you can see our overall map mostly green which is nice. that means no major issues right now. looking at your drive times for right now you. let's see if we can see our drive shows. there they are. tracy to dublin, 36 minutes. san rafael to san francisco 16 minutes. antioch to concord 13 minutes, guys. >> all right. thanks so much, gloria. people are waking up without electricity and pockets throughout the bay area. so here's a look at the p-g-and-e's outage map. right now. thousands were left without power

yesterday. it has been coming back on slowly overnight. green means up to 50 customers. yellow up to 500. orange up to 5000. and those purple triangles, those are p-g-and-e's public safety power shutoffs in the north bay. you can get your phone and scan the code on your screen to get the very latest information on our heat wave, you can find a link to this pg and e map, plus information on cooling centers and health information. we will keep it up for you throughout the morning. there are concerns the hot weather could be exceptionally dangerous, including for those trying to get through this days long heat wave without electricity. abc seven news reporter lena howland is in the east bay. lena very important to take precautions this week. >> hey, reggie. that's right. good morning to you. we are live in walnut creek right now, where it is expected to reach at least 103 degrees today. and experts are telling us that they are expecting more heat related power outages likely to hit their peak today, given the

upcoming holiday and weekend across the bay area, infrastructure is feeling the strain, with thousands without power across the region tuesday night. that includes in concord, where outages affected everything from restaurants to hotels to normally crowded streets. some of that power has since been restored, though one expert from uc berkeley's energy institute at haas says things could be much worse. that's because of the massive upgrades the state has done to its power grid in recent years to help reduce the chance of flex alerts, which ask californians to reduce their energy use. >> the biggest change we've seen over the last few years is a massive installation of batteries. if you go back four years, california had essentially no batteries to store power. >> and cal iso says the state's power grid is currently stable and they are not forecasting supply shortfalls. they say they've gone into what's called a restricted maintenance operation. that means operators

will avoid taking equipment offline for routine maintenance, assuring all generators and transmission lines are available to supply higher loads. and the good news is there hasn't been a need to issue any flex alerts so far this week. live in walnut creek. lena howland, abc seven news. >> thank you lena. the contra costa fire protection district district is advising you to avoid hiking trails. many local and regional parks are closing down because of the heat. mount diablo state park is shut down and it may stay closed into the weekend. mine ridge open space in concord is closed, as are many walnut creek open spaces and parks. east bay regional parks shut down a long list of places through the end of the weekend to coincide with this sustained heat wave. >> many east bay regional parks will remain open for visitors during this week's increased temperatures, including swim facilities and shoreline regional parks. unfortunately, we had to close some, hill and inland parks, due to the extreme fire conditions and heat.

>> all park districts are asking you to check the website before you head out. now, this is video of rescued wildlife being hand-carried into the lindsay wildlife rehabilitation hospital in walnut creek. you might see unusual wildlife behavior in this heat, including birds like barn owls falling from nests like the swifts and the swallows. >> the babies will actually start jumping out due to the heat, and in cases like that, you need to contact your nearest wildlife rehabilitation center. >> you might also see crows or ravens, panting or squirrels. splooting. that's what it's called when they have their belly down on a cool surface, like a sidewalk. do not try to pick up the wildlife you can leave water out around your property to help out animals, though. who may need a drink? >> again, we're going to be putting that qr code up on the screen throughout the morning. you can scan it for a direct link to our weather coverage at

face off with former president trump, and it raised questions about whether he is fit to lead the country in a second term. >> i think it's a legitimate question to say, is this an episode or is this a condition? >> what i can tell you is that, he had a cold in a bad night. i would not see this as an episod. >> congressman lloyd doggett, who represents the austin, texas area, became the first democrat to publicly call for the president to withdraw as the party's nominee. he says that president biden failed to reassure voters during the debate. kumasi. >> thank you, gloria, and abc news anchor george stephanopoulos will sit down with president biden for the exclusive first television interview since the debate. you'll get a first look on friday at 330 and 5:30 p.m. on world news tonight with david muir, which you can watch right here on abc seven. then more on good morning america this weekend, starting at 7 a.m. on

both saturday and sunday. the extended interview will air sunday at 8 a.m. on this week with george stephanopoulos, with more coming up that monday on gma. >> in the east bay, the oakland city council has decided to bet on the sale of the coliseum site to help them close a massive budget deficit. the budget that passed yesterday avoids the possibility of big cuts to the fire and police departments, mayor shengtao says. it also preserves public safety initiatives. >> this means that we're going to be able to continue to keep our cease fire, our crt, our walking officers. so this means that oakland will be safe. >> a huge portion of this budget hangs on the $100 million that will come once the sale of the coliseum site is complete, but the problem is, it's still not clear when that's going to happen. >> we are using the illusion of funds that haven't arrived yet, and that we don't know when will arrive to try to balance a budget. and this is a wildly fiscally irresponsible decision.

>> if the sale of the coliseum site doesn't go through by september, this entire budget falls apart and then the city will be forced to slash millions of dollars in services. the recall of oakland mayor xiang tao is one step away from landing on the november general election ballot. the city council adopted the recall resolution yesterday, and there was a first reading of an ordinance to hold the recall on november fifth. the second reading will be on july 16th. oakland residents could be voting on two recalls in november. if this goes through the recall of alameda county district attorney pamela price has already been approved for the county's ballot. >> back to the heat now. san francisco hoping its public pools can help. take your mind off the heat this week. all nine of them will be free today because it's so hot. they are all indoor pools except for mission community pool on linden street. now let's take a live look at our camera from pier 39, the ferris wheel. back at the waterfront. and according to the

very mild. this morning. and this is the launching pad to get us into another extremely hot afternoon. not only the heat, we're still continuing to monitor our winds. red flag warning continues through friday for the north bay mountains, east bay hills and the santa cruz mountains for those hot temperatures, some gusty winds and humidity down to about 10. so again, just like yesterday, temperatures are going to warm very quickly as we go throughout the morning. by lunchtime we're into the 90s up hitting 100 in if not hitting 100 inland uh- 80s and 90s around the bay shoreline. but again, the immediate coastline is relatively comfortable, so highs today inland 109 in concord, 109 in livermore, 106 in santa rosa, 100 in san jose, 92 in oakland, 94 in san mateo, a high of 88. in the city. and again today, we have a major to extreme heat risk inland. we'll take a closer look at these daytime highs and also preview the 4th of july holiday forecast. coming up in just a few minutes. >> drew. thank you. the heat is

woman at the powell street bart station. investigators say the suspect pushed her as the train was approaching, causing her to fall on the platform. we have learned the victim is corazon dandan. her family says she left work late monday night after finishing a shift at a hotel in union square. she was headed home to daly city. a bart employee who wants to remain anonymous, says the powell street bart station becomes a much different place at night. >> it's just a whole different animal at night. you know,

there's a lot of stuff going on. there's fights, there's jumpings, there's people being shot. city is not safe anymore. >> a suspect has been identified as a 49 year old unhoused man, and this is the first homicide on bart. this year. >> an update to a tragic story. we've been following for months now. a deadly crash at a bus stop in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. a 78 year old driver is now facing four felony charges for the crash in march that killed a family of four. san francisco's police chief and district attorney said the initial investigation shows there's no indication the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or suffering from a medical issue. the vehicle was also found to be fully functional. >> we have evidence that the vehicle was traveling at excessive speeds well in excess of the speed limit. this isn't, you know, somebody going a few miles over the speed limit. this was excessive speeds and driving, in a manner that was not safe and that could

reasonably you know, foreseeably cause death. >> the driver is currently not in custody, but we're told authorities are working with her attorneys in the middle of this heat wave. >> we are facing high fire danger and illegal fireworks can easily spark a fire. more than 500 pounds of illegal fireworks are now off the streets of oakland. look at this. police say they seized seized a large fireworks stash inside a car near sixth avenue and foothill boulevard. these fireworks have now been turned over to the oakland fire department to be disposed in the south bay. >> fire officials are working to stop illegal fireworks by hosting a first of its kind 4th of july celebration. in one part of san jose. the city is hosting two major events for residents to watch fireworks in a safe environment. the annual almaden lake event. and for the first time, east san jose is getting a city sponsored event at lake cunningham park by creating a hub and a safe place for people to come and enjoy fireworks.

>> that's my hope that we will deter any illegal activities from happening in the lake. >> cunningham event starts at 7 p.m. tomorrow night with fireworks at 9:00. a reminder all types of fireworks, even the kind labeled safe and sane, are banned in san jose. >> the only city in sonoma county that sells safe and sane fireworks is now suspending the sale and use of them. because of this extreme heat, we're seeing the city of cloverdale said it worked with the police and fire district on this decision. a red flag warning is in effect in that area through friday. a fireworks show on the fourth is still set to happen as planned, though at cloverdale high school. now, if you're still trying to figure out what you're going to do for the fourth, just go over to our website for all the fireworks, the festivals, and the county fairs that are going on across the bay area. it's right on the front page of abc seven news.com or the abc seven news. bay area app. >> look, if you're trying to get cool, this week. yeah, it is the beach. >>

>> i was there yesterday. it was beautiful. yeah. >> it's so nice. it's been 70s. i live on the coast and it's been like 70s i mean perfect weather. i didn't have to wear a sweater yesterday for the first time and i don't know how long. so i loved it. >> yeah. it's like the one area that is immune to this heat wave. but away from the coast, we still have to talk about this dangerous heat. it's another day of the accuweather alert. this is day two of an eight day heat wave. so this week, remember just some helpful tips. never hurts to drink plenty of water. wear lightweight clothing. take breaks in the shade. if you have to be outside, especially if you're away from the coast. if you have ac, that's great, but also know the signs of heat illness like heat exhaustion and heat stroke and a big one. please, please, please never leave people or pets inside of cars. the inside of a car heats up dramatically with these temperatures. right now it is warm as expected, 60s and 70s right now. so this is going to be another dangerously hot afternoon away from the coast. highs in our microclimates in the south bay. again 90 to 104. in los gatos 100 in san jose along the peninsula will hit 99

in redwood city, 94 in palo alto. but again, you hop over to the coast and it's a lot cooler in the 70s for half moon bay in pacifica, a wide range of temperatures across the city will be in the 70s for the sunset, daly city, but downtown, we're closing in on 90 degrees in the castro, and in the mission will be in the upper 80s in the north bay. it is hot once again. 112 in ukiah, 107 in lakeport, 101 in novato, 102 in vallejo. but the coast, bodega bay, stinson beach, sausalito will keep you in the 70s. in the east bay, it's another hot day. we have a heat advisory in effect 92 in oakland, 96 union city and fremont, and then inland. this is where we have the extreme heat risk for another day. 110 in fairfield, 109 in concord, hit about 110 and brentwood, expecting another warm night on the way. once again, with our warmest areas away from the coast in the 60s and in the 70s now future tracker for the 4th of july holiday. there's very little change to the temperature forecast in the evening tomorrow for fireworks. it will be warm. a lot of us will stay in the 80s

burned more than 2000 acres since yesterday morning. thousands of people are under evacuation orders. >> number four, the oakland city council has passed a budget. it avoids layoffs, but hinges on the sale of the coliseum site number five. >> governor newsom will be at the white house today. and what appears to be a show of support for the president, it comes as the president faces pressure from some democrats to end his reelection campaign. >> and number six, if you take smart, that's the sonoma-marin area rail transit. they are on a holiday schedule tomorrow for the 4th of july, but they're also expanding their service in the evenings on wednesday through sunday, so that people who go to the fair there can stay for the fireworks. >> number seven hart has postponed its tour after lead singer ann wilson revealed she has cancer. the band had a stop at chase center in september. wilson said in a statement she needs to take the rest of the year off, but is expecting to reschedule that tour for 2025.

>> levi's stadium is known for getting hot even when there isn't a heat wave. the heat wave certainly didn't stop some passionate soccer fans from heading to a match yesterday. abc seven news south bay reporter lauren martinez was there as they got ready to tough it out. the brazilians fans poured into levi's stadium to see brazil face off with colombia at levi's stadium. >> brazil, brazil tuesday evening. the teams faced off in the group stage of copa america. austin is who we sweated out here. it was a scorcher. vendors sold ice waters and cold beers. a common answer when i asked fans how they were going to stay hydrated, i went to us guerita. i asked this couple from ecuador if the heat bothered them for a game. they traveled so far to see. >> estamos bien porque they said

they're okay with it. >> it is what it is. and going to this game is what excites them. >> no, no, i 100% feel like i will, i will enjoy the game 100. i don't care about the heat. >> paramedics told us they have about five teams surrounding the stadium standing by for heat related calls, even though it is hot, fans told us it is not affecting them. brazil brazil fans seemed a bit outnumbered. this east palo alto resident was happy to be at the game with his son cheering on for a team he supported for decades. i follow brazil from 1960. >> i see pele play and fans did what they could to stay cool. >> well, i came prepared. i got one of these fans. it's really good. vanessa amaro wished the stadium was covered with the world cup coming up. it's something that i don't know. >> the city should look into it but was happy to be there nonetheless. >> personally, i've been here for almost seven years and being

jamaica have been canceled as hurricane beryl approaches now at 530. the life threatening conditions the island is now bracing for as the strong storm continues its destructive and deadly path through the gulf. >> back here in the bay area, dangerous heat is settling in and that comes with an increased fire danger. firefighters really busy, already battling wildfires, some in triple digit temperatures. >> a live look outside this morning. many bay area cities experiencing their hottest weather in more than a year. the health and the power impacts. the heat is having. >> good morning everyone. it is wednesday, july 3rd. >> i really like this. >> oh friend, thank you. >> yes it's great. it's waking me up this morning. wake up. so is gloria's dress, which you'll see in a second. hi, drew. hi.

>> good morning. we are hot again later this afternoon. that's why we have the accuweather alert, the heat advisories and the excessive heat warnings are still in effect with us. day two of an eight day heat wave. these warnings will be with us through next tuesday. look at temperatures in some of our hills. it's 84 right now in the oakland hills. a similar story in the east foothills and parts of the north bay. and our higher elevations. we're near 90 right now this morning. so it is quite warm out there. we'll take you lower down to the surface and it is mild as well. we're in the 60s and 70s as we get you going on this day. and it's another hot one this afternoon. so inland we have those excessive heat warnings still in effect. again another day where those temperatures warm quickly. we will surpass about 105 106 in our hottest spots again inland today around the bay shoreline, we have heat advisories in effect for good reason. just like yesterday, we're back into the 90s in the hottest cities around the bay shoreline. lots of sunshine expected as well. the coast, that's where you're going to seek that heat relief. but it will be mild. we will

have sunny skies and temperatures going into the 70s. your ocean water temperature is in the mid 50s right now. let's get a check of the drive times. gloria. >> good morning. good morning drew. so far we have no major issues, just your usual morning traffic. you can see a live look right now from our emeryville camera. and right now it is filling in on the westbound side. but again, no major incidents or issues this morning. look at your drive times from tracy to dublin. 38 minutes dublin to mission boulevard south 16 minutes and 101 to cupertino 16 minutes and a live look outside right now at the bay bridge. this gorgeous shot as the sun rises and nobody really will have any issues driving into the city. no delays right now, guys. >> thank you. gloria crews are dealing with a wildfire in wine country called the toll fire. it's burning in napa county. cal fire says it broke out near calistoga yesterday, prompting evacuations. now, that order has since been downgraded to a warning. cal fire says the fire has burned 50 acres so far. at last check, it's 15% contained. crews say the weather has been

the biggest challenge to challenging. >> as you can see back here, we're in a very steep slope, very steep area. so adding that contributing that to the mild, mild to moderate wind conditions that we have and dry dryness of the vegetation, it makes it challenging for our crews to be able to gain access and be able to suppress the fire. >> as we could see flames on the hill. uh- approximately, i don't know, maybe half a mile away. >> george and joanie hahn left right away. george took this video of a cal fire plane fighting the fire near his house, and, joanie, we showed excuse me, george and joanie, their home through the lens of our camera. that's a video that you just saw. luckily, it still standing. now the fire is burning in that same area as the glass fire did in 2020. and understandably, that's a triggering scene for many people

who lost their homes. >> then want to tell you about another fire, this time in solano county, where a grass fire dubbed the denverton fire is burning in an area where the group california forever is planning to build a new city. crews say they have stopped forward progress of the fire. about two miles south of travis air force base at one point, that fire triggered the closure of westbound lanes of highway 12 at scali lane. >> one wildfire further north in butte county, now becoming a problem. it's called the thompson fire. cal fire is now saying it's burned more than 3000 acres right on the border of the town of oroville. 13,000 residents are now under evacuation orders after those flames broke out. there is no containment as fire teams from san francisco and san jose are on their way there to help out. we are entering day two of the bay area heat wave. the national weather service says this current heat wave is the longest they've ever issued at eight days. the previous longest was six days in 2017. the heat is

slowing down public transit. bart and caltrain have to run trains at much slower speeds when the temperatures get so high in the triple digits. many east bay parks are being shut down this week, including lime ridge and mount diablo state park, and the north bay town of yountville had to cancel its upcoming 4th of july celebration as a safety precaution this morning. >> people are still dealing with heat related power outages. abc seven news reporter lena howland is in the east bay, with impacts to customers there. lena. more outages could be coming today. >> hey, reggie. that's right. we're in walnut creek right now where the power is back on. but there are still more than 700 customers across contra costa county without power this morning. and given today's triple digit heat, we are expecting to see even more heat related outages. one expert from uc berkeley's energy institute at haas says major upgrades have been made to the state's energy grid over the last few years, including a massive installation of batteries. that's why they're

not expecting mass power outages like they've seen in the past this time around. but given the upcoming holiday and weekend they're expecting, today will likely be the day the grid is stressed the most. >> we still have people going to work, and it's going to be the second day of the heat wave, so buildings are going to be hotter and not have had a chance to cool down overnight. >> with triple digit heat expected across the east bay today, doctors are warning folks to take precautions. heat exhaustion can come on quickly and weather like this. symptoms include heavy sweating, cold, pale and clammy skin, a fast but weak pulse, nausea or vomiting, cramps or headaches, and dizziness. it can be treated by getting to a cool place. loosen clothing, take a cool bath, sip water and if your symptoms last longer than one hour, get medical help. now when it comes to heat stroke, the warning signs are much more serious and that's when you should be seeking immediate medical care.

non-life threatening injuries. >> this is this is pretty, pretty common. you know, we come here to support this is what we do. you know, we try to take care of each other and take care of our people. and when they need our support and when they particularly when they are injured, you know, we're going to be here for them at this time. >> officials don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved. in a statement, an uber spokesperson said, quote, we're continuing to look into this incident and are standing by to assist law enforcement on their investigation. >> almost a third of the deadliest freeways in california are in the bay area. that's according to consumer affairs. its report used data from the national highway traffic safety administration. 2022 was the most recent year available. interstate 880 through alameda county, tied for fifth place. you're looking live at a section of it in oakland, highway four and contra costa county ranked seventh. highway 101, in santa clara county came in 10th. the leading cause of deadly crashes speeding. it is far more prevalent than drinking or

distracted driving. the highest ranked places on the list are all in southern california. >> hurricane beryl a storm already in the record books, is headed to jamaica today. the country's prime minister has declared the entire island a disaster area, and gloria officials have closed all the airports ahead of the storm's arrival. >> they have kumasi all airports on jamaica shut down yesterday to prepare for hurricane beryl. and you can see in this video right here, folks are leaving the area. the storm is expected to bring life threatening winds and eight foot storm surge. officials are warning people in flood prone areas to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. beryl has lost some steam as it closes in on jamaica, but it's already being blamed for six deaths in the caribbean. it's forecast to continue to weaken but still expected to be a major hurricane when it reaches jamaica today. >> i am encouraging all jamaicans to take the hurricane as a serious threat. it is,

p.m. on thursday, look at some of these. temperatures will be at 70 in oakland. and santa rosa will be at 85. in san jose, it will be warm at 84 degrees. redwood city, 78 and inland concord. it's still going to feel hot even by 9 p.m. tomorrow evening with a temperature of 90 degrees. but we will have good visibility for the fireworks. we'll take you to okay this morning, a live look outside. we have mainly clear skies. it is mild out there. we're at 66 in the airport, but downtown oakland is in the 70s. the oakland hills are in the mid 80s. so it is quite warm out there this morning. and it's going to be warming pretty quickly over the next couple of hours. so look at our temperatures. this is a six hour map showing you we warm fast even around the bay. shoreline will be in the 80s and 90s close to lunchtime. and that's excessive heat and heat advisories. they are in effect along with a red flag warning. this continues through friday for the north bay mountains, the east bay hills, and the santa cruz mountains. for that high fire danger. because of the combination of the hot

years after the pandemic, it's clear the majority of workers across the country are not ready to go back in person, full time. gloria, remote workers are fighting back against these new mandates. >> they are kumasi the union that represents 6000 city employees in philadelphia, filed a lawsuit against the mayor. she wants him back in person full time starting on july 15th.

she's trying to entice workers with more generous parental leave. she insists that in-person workers create a more visible and accessible government. the lawsuit claims the mandate violates their contract and will make post-pandemic staffing shortages even worse. >> having that type of work flexibility allows folks to be able to be successful at work and be successful at home. >> and a recent study found hybrid workers are happier. many say they feel less drained, less stressed and less anxious. a court hearing on the philadelphia lawsuit is planned for next week. and before we go back to reggie, we're going to get a traffic alert right now, the metering lights are on at the bay bridge toll plaza, and right now from highway four to san francisco, it's going to take you 35 minutes, reggie. thanks, gloria. >> cal fire crews are going to get a shorter workweek. it's thanks to funding in the new state budget and a deal with their union. currently, crews work 72 hours on or three consecutive 24 hour shifts, and

then they have four days off or 96 hours. the new schedule will give them 48 hours on and 96 hours off. the change means cal fire will hire about 2400 new crew members across the state in the next five years, so we'll have more bodies on the fire line, and we'll also have more bodies to kind of shift around to give some of our members some time off. the new workweek will not be implemented for some time. both the agency and the union are working on scheduling shift patterns and a rollout plan. >> in southern california, lifeguards are getting a new tool to help save people during an emergency. the encinitas fire department just got new drones. they're equipped with regular and thermal cameras, along with a p.a. system. officials say they can be useful in a number of ways. >> we have cliff rescues. we have people that might be stranded in the water and need assistance. we could look for sharks if that is a sighting out there or something. we can go and determine if it's a real

shark or just a dolphin. >> authorities say the drones will help speed up emergency response times. >> san mateo county officials are doing what they can to keep beachgoers safe during the long, hot holiday weekend. they've launched a public safety campaign reminding visitors to, quote, be smart, play safe, stay aware. officials say drowning deaths are on the rise in the u.s. and the waters off our coast are treacherous, especially with rip currents and sneaker waves. >> it's imperative that we don't turn our backs to the ocean when we're out there. this weekend, especially with children, waves can come up in an instant, and unless people are understanding what the tides and the swells are doing, they can change very dramatically. >> and so officials are urging anyone with young children to choose a beach with lifeguards. >> could bay area native joey chestnut returned to the 4th of july? nathan's hot dog eating competition. in a new interview, he says he's not closing the door on it. chestnut tells sports illustrated he's open to a new deal that could have him

temperatures in the city today. cool in the 70s along the coast, but as you head downtown, we're nearing 90 degrees for a daytime high in the north bay, we have the excessive heat warning in effect 101 novato, 108 cloverdale 105 sonoma. but our beaches very popular with these temperatures. bodega bay, stinson, sausalito. we will be in the 70s for daytime highs. the east bay it is hot heat advisories will be in effect 92 in oakland, 91 in berkeley, 96 in orinda, newark, up to 95 degrees and inland. we have extreme heat risk with excessive heat warnings in effect. 108 pittsburgh 110 fairfield 109. the high and livermore. it is just hot across the entire state today. we have excessive heat warnings stretching all the way from redding down through palm springs, even south lake tahoe. quite warm today. a high of 83 degrees overnight tonight it will remain pretty mild. 50s close to the coast, but 60s and 70s away from the coast, with 80s staying in our hills overnight tonight. then as we head into the fourth itself, we will find another hot afternoon.
