>> wherever you have a significant number of mosquitoes in warm, hot environments is where you see dengue transmission states as far north as illinois and new york. >> now, seeing cases of dengue fever nearly 200 infections now confirmed in new york and new jersey alone, more than 2500 across the u.s. and puerto rico, five times higher than this time last year. transmission occurs when someone is bitten by an infected mosquito, experts say, with higher temperatures and higher rainfall amounts, mosquitoes that carry dengue viruses are extending their range. >> mosquitoes love warm weather, so over time we are starting to see dengue spread in mosquitoes more northward. >> the most common symptoms are fever, nausea, vomiting and a rash. they begin within two weeks and last 2 to 7 days. meanwhile, pest control companies are on overdrive with calls up 30% in some areas due to bugs and rodents trying to beat the heat. >> just like we don't want to be

outside in the heat, neither does anything else. >> but there is no end in sight for millions of americans and critters, especially in the west. las vegas could hit 118 today after setting a record for a fifth consecutive day in houston with temperatures in the 90s, an estimated 400,000 customers could be without power into next week. in the wake of hurricane beryl, houston's utility company under fire, it recently drafted a plan to improve infrastructure, but at a cost of $2 billion. it means higher electric bills in the future. in california, the bay area is seeing the second heat wave this month at least 18 possible heat related deaths have been reported in santa clara county. we will check today's forecast in just a few moments. >> the federal trade commission is reportedly planning to file a major lawsuit over the high cost of prescription drugs, the drug industry's so-called middlemen. cvs, cigna and unitedhealth are accused of driving up the price of insulin and other drugs by

excluding rivals and steering patients to their own products, sources say. the lawsuit will focus on profits from rebates that drug companies pay to get their medications approved for insurance coverage. the middlemen and the drug makers have blamed each other for the high prices the faa is investigating. >> after multiple tires on this american airlines flight exploded on the runway in tampa, forcing the pilot to abort takeoff. sparks shot from the blown tire, and the airline says it was a mechanical issue and no one was hurt. on monday, a united flight leaving l.a. lost a tire during takeoff, and passengers had to brace for a bumpy landing. back in march, a tire fell off another united plane, crashing into cars down below. >> now to milwaukee and disturbing video from outside a hotel showing an encounter between a man and hotel securit. that man ended up dead, and officials are now reviewing the case as a homicide. justice for who? >> just for the justice for you. >> just this morning, the family of devonte mitchell, who died

outside a milwaukee hotel nearly two weeks ago, is demanding justice with the district attorney now reviewing the case as a homicide. surveillance video appears to show the 43 year old being pinned down by hotel security during a struggle. stay down. please stop fighting. >> please stay down. >> police have said mitchell, whose family says had mental health issues entered the hyatt hotel, caused a disturbance and then fought with security guards as they escorted him out. the family's lawyers say video from inside the hotel also shows mitchell being punched and kicked, and they say a witness saw mitchell had trouble breathing. >> he ran for his life. y'all he was trying to leave. >> it was shocking. it was riveting. and it is heartbreaking. >> the family is now awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. the da saying all aspects of these actions, including mr. mitchell's death and use of force by hotel
