"grazed and unfazed." and finally -- "ear we go again" a lot has been written about the attack, but the award for worst article about it goes to forbes. who retracted this dumbass story -- "will surviving gunfire be donald trump's next appeal to black voters?" what? getting shot at doesn't make you popular in the black community.

>> he is kind of like a little prodigy baby, yeah. >> anthony: okay, all right. >> so we got him into this soccer camp, and we brought him. they were oh, he has to be 18 months old. oh, whatever, i'm bringing him. because he is really good. really good for a 17-month-old. let's not get it twisted, right? but i bring him on to the field and these kids are thumbs-up their asses -- excuse me, pardon me, not talking down on any babies. but they're just not up to par, you know what i'm saying? so he is slaying it. he took six soccer balls, i swear to god, he took six soccer balls and he loves to say goel, and it's the cutest thing in the world. he kicks, boom, one, two, three, for four, five, six. the coaches are i think he needs to go with the 2-year-olds. you think? look at this kid. i mean, my son needs a challenge. >> anthony: okay, okay. i like that. a proud mother. speaking of motherhood, how are you as a parent? >> how do you think?

and i get really like -- i don't want to beat up a 5-year-old, you know what i'm saying. i don't want to go to jail for beating up a 5-year-old. >> it's interesting hearing the things you force yourself to say hello to the 17-month-old child and you don't want to beat them up. but your husband, joe, is the fighter in the family. is it muay thai? >> muay thai, yeah. he is so sweet. my husband is the sweetest. nobody ever believes he is a fighter. he is so gentle. gina, leave them alone. they're just getting their eggs. getting their eggs and saying hello to charlely. he is the softer one. thank goodness it balances out. so my son is a prodigy. he knows legitimately over 300 words. >> anthony: really? at 17 months old? >> and he pairs word. charle leg jumping, charlie laying down. this is crazy, right? and my mother told me just recently, and then again and probably five times after that,

i'm so obsessed with my child. but they are wonderful. my father and my son get along so well, like kind red spirits. they're wonderful. and my mother is like, you know, spread thin. she's got a lot of grandkids. so she's got to spread a lot of love. but she is with us right now in our house, and every morning my son is nana, let's go see nana. so it's really, really special. i've stolen her from my sisters and the rest of the grandchildren. so what? you've had her for a long time. it's my turn. >> anthony: i don't try to get in anybody's business, but how did you and your husband meet before i go into the next thing. >> what you going to show me? we met on "jane the virgin." >> anthony: okay. >> yes. he was playing don quixote, the stripper. [ laughter ] >> anthony: i also understand that one of your neighbors worked in the movie industry? >> yeah. >> anthony: worked for steven spielberg or something like that? >> he did. he did. he did "indiana jones and the last crusade." he was the guy that had all the bugs, the roly pollys, tarantulas, everything you can think of. there would be situations where he would leave home and a big tarantula, orange and black one would come crawling out of the house. we would all see it. look, there go one. and basically, we would build a city of rocks around it and wait until he get home. there go your thing. it's your thing. we don't want to kill him, but there go your thing. >> anthony: really. so living that close in proximity to the mountains in canyon country, ie santa clarita. >> santa clarita. >> anthony: any bad animal run-ins that you may have had? >> well, you know, there was lots of coyotes. >> anthony: okay. >> and coyotes don't mess with

you unless you mess with them. but on this particular night in 1990 something, i was walking home when the streetlights were coming on, and i saw a dog basically coming up behind me. and the dog started barking at me. and then it looked like it was a rabid dog. okay, i'm going walk fast, get in the house, it will be fine. and i start walking up and realize there is a coyote in front of me. and the coyote is going off because of the dog behind me. both are looking at me. oh my god. i have to get to my front door. i have to try to jump in the car in the front driveway. i literally take off running. and both start rung after me. i jump in the car, and please, god, let the door be open. it's open. as soon as i close it, the dogs start jumping up. oh my god, i got to get my mom. my mom comes to the window. she is like yeah, no. there is nothing i can do. [ laughter ] when they're gone, i'll come get you. it will be all right. >> anthony: that sounds like a mom i know. you know, it's interesting.

i'll tell you about -- i didn't really have -- my mother had an animal run-in when we were growing up. we had a 250 pound st. bernard. >> oh, my. wow. >> anthony: and it with australia warm summer afternoon. my mother was wearing a sun dress. and our st. bernard caught whiff of my mother. and he mounted my mother against our station wagon, right. and my mother is screaming for her life because it's a 250-pound st. bernard attacking her in the worst possible way. and my dad is in the backyard just laughing hysterically at my mother. so my mother wrestles the dog off. she opens the driver's side door, gets in the dog sees the opportunity to mount again. he jumps in with her. my mother gets out, closes the passenger door, comes around, closes the door on the passenger side, locks the st. bernard in

the car and goes back and commit commences to beat my dad. and then i will say my dad was not allowed to mount my mother for at least six months. how long was it, momma? >> eight. eight months. [ laughter ] [ applause ] >> he asked for it. >> anthony: all right. well, let's get here. let's talk about this movie. >> yeah. >> anthony: your character makes some bad relationship decisions. >> yeah. >> anthony: talk about it. let's talk about the movie. what's the plot of this. >> well, this story, it follows eva and dallas, but really it's eva's story she is in this relationship. she grew up in the church. she was taught to always stick it out, figure it out, and she is dealing with all these different things. and at a certain point in the relationship, he decides that he just wants the relationship to be over. and i think that that is obviously very traumatic for her. but then she realizes like wait a second, i choose to be excited about the second act of my life.

>> anthony: right. >> i choose to be open to all the things that i'm being taught. i choose to love myself to know that i'm worthy. it's really a story that's about her journey of exploring and discovering and rediscovering herself. and then it's got a lot of twists and a lot of turns. and the first scene is crazy. and the last is crazy. but it's a fun film. >> anthony: it's a very crazy movie. talk about the fun that you were having on such a dark, you know, story. >> you know, it was fun to drag cory down the staircase. it was fun to throw cory in the car and slap him. but cory is such a sweetheart. he is so different than the character, and he really created the space for me to feel comfortable and safe and the explore the character and explore with him the dynamic between to characters. i've known cory for almost 20 years. i'm so happy to see him win and to be able the do this with him. >> anthony: yes, yes. >> when we threw him into the car, he was just slap me, sis.
